@@LarryGravesCanadianStudmuffin if another utube guy did the same list ranking that you did and you watched it and he didn’t include not one of the Beatles, would you leave a comment about no Beatles were included? Just curious
Very good list as usual!!! I would add as S Tier Ronnie James Dio (Rainbow, Black Sabbath), James Dewar (Stone the Crows, Robin Trower Band), Van Morrison, Sandy Denny (Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, solo), Maddy Prior (Steeleye Span) these last two women perhaps the best female vocalists of UK folk rock.
Cool video. My S tier singers from your list would be Elvis, Little Richard, Bon Scott, John Lennon, Brian and Carl, Ian Gillan…. I can’t remember more but many A tier singers. I would add Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Noddy Holder, Stevie Wright, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Patsy Cline, Bobbie Gentry, Marty Robbins and many more.
My favorite singer is Robert Smith from The Cure. Runner-ups - Jeff Buckley , Billy MacKenzie ( Associates ) , Jon Anderson , Thom Yorke , Jeff Tweedy , Jim Morrison , Peter Gabriel , Arthur Lee & Robert Plant.
Elton should probably be at least A if not S in my opinion. Consider him at his 1970s peak. His phrasing and falsetto on Bennie and the Jets is masterful. Think of the way he could do a ballad like Your Song and then do a convincing rocker vocal on Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting or Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. For me, Elton is a singer like Paul McCartney who can do ballads or rockers equally well.
Great comprehensive list! I really like both Bob Dylan's & Lou Reed's vocals too. What they lack in tone & pitch, they make up for with feeling. Favorite underrated singers include Colin Blunstone of the Zombies and Burton Cummings of Guess Who fame.
I would promote Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra (my favourites) up to S tier. While I realise that Air Supply are unlikely to appeal to most viewers of this channel, I think Russell Hitchcock should be in S tier. Also I would include John Wetton up there as well.
For me: Greg Lake = S. Stephen Stills = A. Annie Lennox = S. Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) = A. Martin Frye (ABC) = A. Allison Monet (Yaz/Yazoo) = S. Steve Winwood = S. Andy Bell (Erasure) A. Tom Waits = S…Yeah Yeah, I know. Great stuff Larry! I love these videos! They make me think. Happy holidays!!!🎅🏻🧑🏻🎄🎉😎
It goes to show how great some of the musicians are ,Neil Young, Bob Dylan didn't have the velvety vocals but what they have is all they have and they just make it work, that is why they are so great at what they do. Just my opinion of course. 😎👍
Some of my favorite singers, i really like (in no particular order). - Chris Thompson - Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor - Ray Wilson - John Lawton - Floor Jansen - Meat Loaf - Alice Cooper - Brad Delp - John Waite - Jimmy Barnes - Roger Daltrey - Tom Cochrane - Lou Gramm and bonus one is Larry Graves, i put him in ......uppps ......time out!
Just to round out The Beatles, I’m curious where you would place Ringo. Would also like to know where Buck Dharma would rank. He didn’t sing a lot of BOC songs, but he’s probably the voice that most non-fans would recognize.
Very good as usual!. Two of my favourites that aren't on this list are Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Matt Bellamy (Muse). Both would be in S Tier for me 👍xxx.
Ranking singers is all relative Larry to who you like,to me no one beats Paul McCartney and John Lennon and that's why the Beatles along with their great song writing conquered the world, those fantastic songs and fantastic vocals just can't be beat, regarding your list there are some great old R&B singers that you left out that were great like Percy Sledge and Wilson Picket and of course Sam Cooke,on your list I always felt that Paul Rogers of Bad Company had a great voice and so does Rod Stewart when he rocks and nobody howls like Little Richard and of course Elvis Presley the worlds first rock star, there's a lot of great singers out there, you just have to have it match what you play like Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Bob
Seeing Stevie Wonder is on the list. Soul is included. In which case my S tier would have both David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards and Aretha Franklin. Along with Robin Zander, Robert Plant, and Morrissey
Mine in no order would be Freddie Mercury, Lennon, McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Jeff and Tim Buckley, Elvis Then my A tier would be people like Bruce Springsteen and Bono
I'd put Mark Farner in the S column. Too bad I couldn't turn you onto the Good Rats because I think Peppi Marchello was a great singer, a raspy New York voice. An A lister. I put Neil Young in the A column. Yoko is another A lister. Overall, your selections and placement are fine. Thanks for this fun video!

@LarryGravesCanadianStudmuffin Hey Larry, have you ever done a top 10 Christmas rock song? John and Yoko would be mine #1...and other artists, David Bowie, Paul's, U2 etc ..etc...or Tier list?
Agree with many. John Lennon, Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel are particularly important singer to me. I don't like Michael Jackson, I would replace him with Al Green and add also Paul Rodgers to S.
Pretty good ranking. But I'd put Peter Gabriel higher, like just after Freddy Mercury. And I'd put the 2 signers of Supertramp in A tier. Roger Hodgson ahead of Rick Davies
I figured Maynard James Keenan of TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer wouldn't make your list. I understand, I'm not taking it personally, ha ha. 😜 He is my favorite singer of all time and thus I would put him at the beginning of S-Tier. Everyone else on your list is okay where they are, although I do like Geddy Lee a bit more, most likely in B-Tier. There are only two more I'd add to my list that would go in the A-Tier: Matthew Sweet and Bob Mould.

@@LarryGravesCanadianStudmuffin gotcha.
Love where you put Lennon, he’s one of my favorite.
Elvis is number 1 to me. I think Karen Carpenter should have been on the list. She had the most beautiful voice.
Having Yoko Ono in the same tier as Prince hurts me.
Maybe you could also do top 100 lists by eras like 1960-80, 80-00 and after 2000 in addition to this list you’ve posted.
Cool video. My S tier singers from your list would be Elvis, Little Richard, Bon Scott, John Lennon, Brian and Carl, Ian Gillan…. I can’t remember more but many A tier singers.

Respect your list! Dylan is the best expressive singer ever however!😀
I just bought my first Sparks lp. Kimono My House. Gonna spin it a lil later today. I’m excited. Never heard of them before finding your channel.
Hope you enjoy it!

Nice seeing Roy Orbison so high. As for my Beach Boys input, you won't be shocked to hear that Brian and Carl would be at the start of S for me.
I would promote Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra (my favourites) up to S tier. While I realise that Air Supply are unlikely to appeal to most viewers of this channel, I think Russell Hitchcock should be in S tier. Also I would include John Wetton up there as well.
for me my s-tier will always be karen carpenter , Judy Garland, Elvis presley , Paul McCartney , and John Denver.
I'd have Liam Gallagher at S for the years 1994 - 1997.
Also Sinatra and John Denver
Karen Carpenter , Glen Campbell , Freddie Mercury , Gerry Beckley , Peter Setera , Lyndsey Buckingham , Dave Gahan .
@thornbird6768
Robin Gibb too
I pretty much agree with all of those except Carl Wilson. The singer of "God Only Knows" is S-tier in my book. Cheers.
Phil Mcrackin S tier

So glad you moved George up to A. I was surprised you had him in B. Geddy had a love or hate type of voice, but I would put him in S.

Steve Marriott ..end of discussion
The problem I have with Steve is as OUTSTANDING vocals that he had, it's very similar in range on the songs.

Anne Wilson should be s teir

"D" for Dreadful
Marc Bolan in C tier? 😢
