      @SpektrumRC with no storage charge option what would be the correct way of getting your battery into a storage voltage state?

    • @adamlove8094
      @adamlove8094 2 года назад +3

      @@we4fm175 Either watch the voltage of the batter while you charge it and stop it at 3.85v, maybe you can adjust the final charge voltage to 3.85v in the charger settings or you can just charge your battery all of the way up if it is Spektrum Smart battery and it should discharge itself to storage after 3 days. I do not like the last solution because it excludes other battery brands that a lot of hobbyists will have and it wastes electricity/money.

    Watching videos about this charger, looks like the smart Spektrum batteries auto-discharge when charged with a smart charger after the amount of time (12-72hrs) set in the settings ...
    Can you just set the charge on the charger to 3.8V manually though so don't have to wait the 12-72hrs (if you know you just want to put them immediately into storage)?
    and/or let it goto the usual default 4.2V but just disconnect/stop the charging when you see its up to around 3.8/3.9V?
    Thanks!

    Does the auto discharge feature in the smart batteries have a preset discharge rate based on the storage value setting example if storage value is set to 3.85v does the auto discharge feature discharge the difference of 4.2v minus the 3.85v for a discharge rate.35 that it would discharge to get to the 3.85v per cell I am asking because I have mine set to 3.85v and will charge to 3.9v and stop the charge from going to full since I am not using it after and see it point less to fully charge it and then have it discharge when I would just like to charge just above storage but if its algorithm is pre calculated it would take .35v off my 3.85v and give me the over discharge fault?

      No! Read your instructions! They will save your house from burning down! Lipo batteries should never be left plugged in to anything. At minimum it can discharge the battery to zero and make it worthless, unrecoverable, and at worst it could burn your house down because lipo batteries are very flammable and burn very hot. It’s really unfortunate that Spektrum markets this as functioning with all batteries. Giving the impression you can use this as your main or only charger.
    Without a storage charge function this is really only good as a secondary charger or if you exclusively use Smart batteries.
    There are other chargers on the market with basic functionality for the same price or less.
    This is a real shame that basic, important functionality is lost for a flashy color screen.
    I implore spektrum to help the hobby. Not hurt it.

    Why won't my brand new Spektrum S155 smart G2 charger recognize that my crappy NiMH battery is empty? The NiMH battery is only a month old and came with the rc car I just bought. I installed the newest firmware on the charger, so everything is up to date. I charged the battery with the 200mA charger a couple days ago, used up the battery today and wanted to try charging it on the smart charger for the first time. But when I plug in my NiMH battery and dial in all the settings, it reads the empty battery as having 90% charged, and only charges for 6 or 7 minutes. Funny thing is, it'll charge maybe a couple hundred mAh before stopping, but I can repeat this process multiple times. The battery reads full (99%), but will still charge again and again (for roughly 6-10 minutes - around 200-300mAh. What's up with this? Do I just repeat this process until the total mAh put into the battery (over multiple charging cycles) reaches the 1800 mAh rating on the battery? The 5000mAh 2S LiPo charges great and works great in the car too, but this backup NiMH is confusing me.
    Edit: so the battery was charging as I was writing this, and the 3rd time I charged it, it read 99% for the 47 minutes that it took to reach 1400 mAh capacity charged (in addition to the previous two charging cycles) before I stopped the charging manually. It didn't shut off automatically after 6-10 minutes like it did the previous 2 or 3 cycles.
