@@we4fm175 Either watch the voltage of the batter while you charge it and stop it at 3.85v, maybe you can adjust the final charge voltage to 3.85v in the charger settings or you can just charge your battery all of the way up if it is Spektrum Smart battery and it should discharge itself to storage after 3 days. I do not like the last solution because it excludes other battery brands that a lot of hobbyists will have and it wastes electricity/money.
Watching videos about this charger, looks like the smart Spektrum batteries auto-discharge when charged with a smart charger after the amount of time (12-72hrs) set in the settings ... Can you just set the charge on the charger to 3.8V manually though so don't have to wait the 12-72hrs (if you know you just want to put them immediately into storage)? and/or let it goto the usual default 4.2V but just disconnect/stop the charging when you see its up to around 3.8/3.9V? Thanks!
Storage charge mode? I get they storage discharge themselves, but you also made it known that i can charge dumb batteries too. And sometimes i like to use the battery then charge it to storage voltage.
Can I use this charger with the auto charger off in the system settings, to check that my smart g2 battery has went into storage mode after it’s set time for discharge? Plugging the battery in and checking the individual cells to make sure they discharged to the set value?

Does the auto discharge feature in the smart batteries have a preset discharge rate based on the storage value setting example if storage value is set to 3.85v does the auto discharge feature discharge the difference of 4.2v minus the 3.85v for a discharge rate.35 that it would discharge to get to the 3.85v per cell I am asking because I have mine set to 3.85v and will charge to 3.9v and stop the charge from going to full since I am not using it after and see it point less to fully charge it and then have it discharge when I would just like to charge just above storage but if its algorithm is pre calculated it would take .35v off my 3.85v and give me the over discharge fault?

No! Read your instructions! They will save your house from burning down! Lipo batteries should never be left plugged in to anything. At minimum it can discharge the battery to zero and make it worthless, unrecoverable, and at worst it could burn your house down because lipo batteries are very flammable and burn very hot. Read the instructions!
If they were truly smart chargers they themselves wouldn't allow a fire, you think they would shut down before any fire occurred. And also, why do we have to update so much on these products? If they were truly smart wouldn't they update on their own?
after 72 hours a smart battery with discharge itself to 3.9v per cell. These parameters can be adjusted with in the Smart battery menu on the charger when the battery is plugged in.
Another question for ya... For the "SPMXCA3114mm bullet" adapter, did you connect it directly to the XT60 battery @ 26m08s in this video? it looks like it connects to another adapter which then connects to the XT60 battery?
Mine only stays at the same settings with no options available. Why doesn't my selection button (far right) get to the menus for each option? Is there a reset button combination?
some menu options may be disabled depending on the battery type or if you are using a Smart battery. Smart batteries will automatically assign the proper options. You can adjust charge amperage and that is just about it.

I got a spectrum 130amp esc with a 1900kv motor. Win I changed the berring in the motor now win I turn it on I can hardly here it beeping..... any clue what happened?y 2050kv beeps loud and clear. The 1900 beeped just as loud before I changed berring
I had bene using this s155 charger with Spektrum Smart Lipos just fine and all of a sudden it started giving me the error "No balance lead detected" on some batteries. Slowly it started giving me this error on ALL batteries, even the Spektrum G2 series where there is no balance lead to plug in. Any ideas what could cause this? Thank you in advance!
gonna go out on a limb and say your chargers gone bad. you could try updating the firmware on it with the upgrade port and cross your fingers else you'll probably need to replace. side note: its probably a WAY better option to contact horizon hobby support instead of leaving a comment on a year old video.
@@cj4362 Most these videos are a year old because of the release date of the charger not being current. Also, the RC community happens to be very supportive in the comments section and in this day and ages often more supportive than the lazies employed at corporations.
If you hook up a g1 battery to g2 charger does it still balance? I noticed theres no place on my g2 charger to plug in the second cable on my g2 battery..

Just bought one of these chargers and it’s ok so far. Only have one smart technology battery but plan on getting more. It’s first charge I did a 3s 5100 35c lipo and it charged a hair over 3000mah in about 45 mins which isn’t to bad. The packs old so it took longer to balance than anything. But question, the charger got awfully warm during the charge…..does it have a fan that’s supposed to kick on or no? Just curious

This charger does not have the hardware to discharge a battery and thus does not have a storage or discharge mode. My suggestion would be to run the battery down about half way
Also minimum voltage per cell this charger puts out is 4.10 and my battery is a 2cell 7.4v max, so wouldn't I have to have a charger that goes down to 3.7v per cell?

@@TheReman5000 I had the same problem, what I did was in a dimmed room I shone my phone torch onto the bottom corner of the screen to act as abit of a backlight. And you can just about makeout the menu and navigate to the brightness to put it back to mid or high. Sorry for late response but I've only used the charger today for the first time

It is more of a hardware limitation on this charger in particular. If you look at the next charger up (the S1100) it indeed has storage and discharge modes.

It’s really unfortunate that Spektrum markets this as functioning with all batteries. Giving the impression you can use this as your main or only charger. Without a storage charge function this is really only good as a secondary charger or if you exclusively use Smart batteries. There are other chargers on the market with basic functionality for the same price or less. This is a real shame that basic, important functionality is lost for a flashy color screen. I implore spektrum to help the hobby. Not hurt it.
Why won't my brand new Spektrum S155 smart G2 charger recognize that my crappy NiMH battery is empty? The NiMH battery is only a month old and came with the rc car I just bought. I installed the newest firmware on the charger, so everything is up to date. I charged the battery with the 200mA charger a couple days ago, used up the battery today and wanted to try charging it on the smart charger for the first time. But when I plug in my NiMH battery and dial in all the settings, it reads the empty battery as having 90% charged, and only charges for 6 or 7 minutes. Funny thing is, it'll charge maybe a couple hundred mAh before stopping, but I can repeat this process multiple times. The battery reads full (99%), but will still charge again and again (for roughly 6-10 minutes - around 200-300mAh. What's up with this? Do I just repeat this process until the total mAh put into the battery (over multiple charging cycles) reaches the 1800 mAh rating on the battery? The 5000mAh 2S LiPo charges great and works great in the car too, but this backup NiMH is confusing me. Edit: so the battery was charging as I was writing this, and the 3rd time I charged it, it read 99% for the 47 minutes that it took to reach 1400 mAh capacity charged (in addition to the previous two charging cycles) before I stopped the charging manually. It didn't shut off automatically after 6-10 minutes like it did the previous 2 or 3 cycles.
Screen is WAY TOO SMALL /too many useless options /// desperately must make charger plug and play with self detection and diagnostics of battery type and charge level !!! With the access to AI today the charger should /must become more helpful to better prevent fire and/or accidental battery destruction

I have two smart gen 1 batteries, both when plugged in tell me they have abnormal balance port connections. Any idea how to fix this?

Do you still need to wrap the battery in a charging case while charging if it’s a g2 smart battery?

Which charger do you have? Spektrum Smart chargers can charge virtual any rc battery, smart or non-smart from other brands.

it says ist charging at 0.5A but did a time out after about 45 mins and no charge in the battery

Mine does not auto anything. I get an error everytime.
I don't understand how to storage charge it...If I run it down to below storage charge levels there is no way to charge it, other than all the way
So you just charge from depleted to full and let the auto storage discharge?
