Well, since human supposedly tastes like pork I would say get a nice roast going, make some nice roast potatoes and some veg, drizzle some red wine jus/sauce and you've got a solid meal. Keep leftovers for sandwiches, the revolution can waste no useful resources.

One good thing to note about sneak attack is that you don't need to have an *ally* within 5 feet of the target for it to proc without advantage. You can get sneak attack as long as an enemy of the target is within 5 feet of them. So if there's 3 or more parties in a combat, parties A, B and C. all members are allies to their respective party, and all other parties are enemies with eachother. So a member of party A can get sneak attack off members of party C if a member of party B is within 5 feet of the C member.

You should do a Shovel Knight character. Any of the main four characters (Shovel, Plague, Specter, and King Knight) would all make be really cool adapted into D&D

Thanks again for your Rey build. Playing them in candlekeep currently at lvl 6 (only taking the first 5 levels of battle smith tho). Having a great time with it. I get to be one of the party’s front liners/beat down machines and not lose any intelligence skills. And boy did my party need a martial class...
That's a fun build. I may have dipped that last level in fighter or monk. Monk for unarmored defense and speed, fighter for another fighting style, maybe unarmed fighting style or Mariner.
Mariner is quite useless, this build already has climbing and swimming speed because of the 6th level of Ranger, unarmed fighting would be good though
these YA fantasy character builds (with twilight a couple weeks ago, and now katniss) are making me curious what a tulok interpretation of characters from percy jackson would look like

I didn't understand a lot of this build, but I guess it's explained in the books.
Anyway the rogue I've been really looking forward to playing again once we're out of quarantine used this character as a jumping off point, and the original character portrait was just a gender-flipped Katniss fanart. Even ended up writing most of his backstory around a minor aspect of the costume the artist put him in.
If you type "male Katniss" into Google it's one of the first that comes up: I wrote that the scarf was a baby blanket from a child he accidentally orphaned and was trying to rescue.
If you want a halfling character, Mono from Little Nightmares 2. A very sneaky little guy, and a little bit slower than Six as well, so the halfling speed makes sense.
Zephyr strike is the key to guarantee advantage on Rogue/Ranger multiclass.

Eldritch Knight, focus just on abjuration instead of evocation unless it's enhancing a weapon, and use the fly spell as one of your "any" spells.

Me: "This would be so much easier if I wasn't color blind."
Should be noted that Sneak Attack doesn't need your target to be flanked by one of *your* allies, they just need to be flanked by one of *their* enemies. The ability is absolutely free-for-all friendly and should require no bullshitting on your part to use.
Man, I would love to see a 2B build from Nier Automata, or Maki Oze from Fire Force.
For what you said with sneak attack, you don't need the person within 5 feet of your target to be an ally, just an enemy of the target, for situations just like the hunger games.

You know a Tulok Build is good when he just takes the Tough feat cause literally everything else was accomplished in earlier builds. Also, I'd like to see some Jujutsu Kaisen character builds. Maybe start with someone easy like Fushigoro and Itadori though, Gojo seems pretty wild to adapt to D&D.
Pretty solid build. For people who are thinking about playing it, they might also want to consider doing Gloomstalker instead of Hunter for the Ranger Conclave. Hunter probably fits a bit more if you are doing a straight copypasta of Katniss, but Gloomstalker does also hit some of the same themes, while also just being overall a better Conclave option.
For tradeoffs, at 3rd level Ranger you lose Colossus Slayer (an extra 1d8 of damage for one attack per round) in exchange for getting both Dread Ambusher (+Wisdom to Initiative, +10 movement during the first round of combat, and an extra attack that does 1d8 extra damage in the first round of combat) AND Umbral Sight (Darkvision, plus creatures with Darkvision can't see you if you are in darkness).
At 7th level Ranger you trade Steel Will (advantage on saves against being frightened) for Iron Mind (proficiency in all Wisdom saves), which is just strictly better since most saves against Frightened are Wisdom saves, anyway.
Plus at 3rd and 5th level you also get Disguise Self and Rope Trick as bonus spells, while Hunter doesn't give you any additional spells.

Unlike Nightwolf, the Girl on Fire here is good at chiefly one thing: archery. Well, and authority as a budding talent, but yeah. She has weaknesses in both types of magic, brawling, and lances.
Like most archers, she's best at attack and dexterity but is bad at magic, defenses, and HP.
Henry Stickman in D&D is a Bard with Spiritual Weapon and Wish. Change my mind.

Hot take: Watchmen and Hunger Games had very similar legacies.
Everyone wanted to be them after they came out and made bank, but very few actually understood why they worked, discarding any and all social commentary in favor of imitating surface elements of these stories. Funny enough the movie adaptations of both stories did the same thing.

I think it would make more sense if she had 2 levels of ranger first lore wise that makes the most sense but this is cool

Demon is just polymorph. Probably from an item at that.
For angel form, paladin, prioritizing cha over str. Probably crown (the abilities work so well, even if the theme doesn't necessarily) or ancients (resistance to Spells within the aura). Ancients 15th level ability is also in character.
Honestly, both ancients and crown work well. Crown has compelled duel for drawing aggro and warding bond for giving an ally resistance, but ancients has misty step for a pseudo cover move and ensnared strike would prevent a melee enemy from getting to your allies.
Tasha's transformation would allow both angelic and demonic

Also, are we really caring about Str in a Maple build? Miss “I didn’t want to get hurt, so I maximized my Defense?” Also, Cha being high makes sense, since she easily makes friends and is just too cute in the first tournament.
@@LocalMaple paladins normally focus str over cha. That's the only reason I mentioned it.
Crown can redirect attacks from an ally to themselves as a reaction, which is why I suggested them.

You should do a series of builds of Shakespeare's characters. I'm sure nobody would watch the videos but me. But I'm cool, right?
I personally prefer the power build of assassin plus gloom stalker. I also use the unearthed arcana version of favored enemy which basically lets you cast hunters mark for free without concentration which is way better than everything else you get. I also give rangers extra attack at 11th level to keep there damage even more competitive with other classes.

See, I want to believe that, I really do, but I can't. Sure, the first couple of books/movies, I could see where she gives that impression, but by the end of the third story? She broke rank, took a bunch of rebellious champions on a suicide mission to storm the capital (mind you, not WITH the rebellion, but on a smaller, more personal rebellion), and ended up getting literally everyone killed without accomplishing anything. Her whole team dies on the way, and she gets blown up at the gate, missing all the action. If she had done nothing, they'd have all been better off for it. Sure, she set things straight enough after that, getting the rebellion back on the right foot after they had finished winning without her, but would YOU have wanted to be on that final mission with her? Is THAT the Katniss you want to be in a survival game with? Not me.
(Side bar, this is NOT a rant against Tulok or this build, this is purely a rant against the character, and I have only seen the movies. So if the books somehow fixed that trainwreck of an ending, do feel free to inform me. Or if I missed some less-than-subtle detail that made it all okay, I'm also open to that correction. Loved the video, all the same.)

Can I ask why exactly Ranger is worse than Fighter in this scenario? The main benefits of Fighter in this build is just Action Surge. Ranger gets access to Goodberry/Cure Wounds for better out of combat healing than Second Wind (which also makes sense since Katniss basically does that in the movies) and Ranger still gets Archery Fighting Style anyway. Fighter does get 1 extra ASI, but I don't value that over having access to 1st and 2nd level spells. There's also Heavy Armor proficiency but Katniss doesn't use those so it's not relevant in this conversation.
Subclass comparison is weak because Champion only gets an extra 1d8 5% of the time vs the wayyy less conditional 1d8 per turn that Hunter Ranger grants, Arcane Archer only gets 2 special shots while Ranger 8 gets 3 2nd level spells, and while Battlemaster is really strong it's not a fair comparison because Hunter is a weak subclass compared to the Tasha's and Xanathar subs. Additionally, Arcane Archer doesn't even make sense for Katniss since she's explicitly non-magical and she rarely uses trick arrows even if you reflavor AA to be non-magical and her stealthy archery makes more sense for her to be a Gloomstalker than an Arcane Archer.
So overall, what does Fighter 8 have over Ranger 8? Action Surge. What does Ranger 8 have over Fighter 8? 1 extra skill proficiency, 1 extra expertise, 5ft extra movement, a climbing and swimming speed that synergizes with Scout Rogue, and Favored Enemy as a flavor feature.
If this is a pure archer build, yeah I'll take Fighter 20 over Ranger 20. But no, this is just a Ranger 8 build. Ranger only becomes worse than Fighter once you reach T4, but Rogue levels means that you don't have to suffer with level 15+ Ranger features. And again, Katniss is a wilderness and survival expert. Scout Rogue/Ranger multiclass is the best way to do that without going for Druid levels.
So I ask again, why is Ranger worse than Fighter in this build? That statement hasn't been true since Xanathar's.

So, I would have picked up the skulker feat to hide when lightly obscured which means you are basically invisible when in the dark because dim light counts as being lightly obscured so even if an enemy has dark vision they can't see you provided you roll high enough on a stealth check which with reliable talent, pass without trace, and a +17 to stealth you can roll a minimum of 37 which is stupid OP.
To be fair, I don't think he did fill every ranger spell, so...

I really dont understand the hate for favored foe. Yeah it's less damage than hunters mark but it's not like you have infinite spell slots. It just gives you more chances to do damage.
In essence, the situation where you actually need to use it is so rare, you'd actually get bettrr use out of favoured enemy.
The issue is that while you don't have infinite spell slots, you rarely need to use that many spells as a ranger anyway. Heck, the two 1st level slots you get should be more than enough as is, seeing as hunter's mark lasts an hour and during that hour you can use a bonus action to reapply it. Sure, you may want to use more spells than just hunter's mark, but those kind of spells tend to be higher level, so you can just use your lower level slots for hunter's mark.
Favoured foe would be fine- if it wasn't concentration. As is, it is just hunter's mark but worse (only once per turn, a pitiful amount of damage for a long time).

Second, I guess all the other useful ranger spells like absorb elements, cure wounds, detect magic, ensnaring strike, fog cloud, hail of thornes, longstrider, jump and zephyr strike dont exist. And third your more than likely going to have more than one encounter in a day and chances are their going to be more than an hour apart.

Secondly, they do but honestly I don't see them used all too often. The only time I've seen zephyr strike be used by a PC I DMed for was when I allowed the pc to use the UA favored foe (which let you cast hunter's mark without requiring concentration). Long strider is useful for melee rangers, but then your concentration would be better spent on zephyr strike.
And of course you'll have multiple encounters in a day, my point was as long as you don't burn all your slots in one fight, you should be good for your next.
More or less, because it takes up your concentration, 99% of the time you'll have something better to concentrate on. Hunter's mark, zephyr strike, swift quiver, guardian of nature. I'm not saying it's useless, just bad when compared to what else is available. If it either triggered on each of your attacks or didn't take up concentration, I wouldn't mind it because then it would not just save slots but also potentially let you choose a spell instead of hunter's mark. I don't know, I may be biased cause I got to see the UA version in action and I loved DMing for that character. I just don't see favoured foe being good enough to straight up replace favoured enemy

I'm just tired of always hearing rangers are terrible for no reason. Also I believe it got changed from the UA cause without concentration people kept making broken combos with it (hunters mark, feat for hex and and most of the ranger subclasses giving a d8 would get stupid real quick). I'll just leave it at I think rangers are good and I'm sorry for being a dick about it.

And I agree, rangers are great! And sure, non concentration hunter's mark could be abused to shit- but it's 5e, what else is new XD I still think a d4/d6/d8 extra damage once per turn doesn't constitute concentration. But eh, zat is just me. I still offer the old UA favoured foe at my tables

What about (if one was to actually play this) swapping the last level of rouge for a level of monk for unarmored defense. It’s not super in character, but neither is wearing armor really, and for playing at home it would be a much better AC than you could get any other way, and also provide some flexibility for close-up combat
