What are three different kinds of anesthesia? What is the neurologic mechanism of the anesthesia? Why can’t anesthesiology be brought down to simple pharmacology? These and other questions are answered by MIT professor of Health Sciences and Technology, Emery Brown.

Anaesthesia is an integral part of clinical neuroscience... Love it. Some day, when we truly understand the mechanisms of consciousness and anaesthesia, much of our clinical practice today will look positively medieval. Great work!

What wonderful and informative mini-lecture. It is truly a pleasure to listen to a lecturer that is a master communicator. I have noticed since the mid 1990's that young adults graduating from h.s. have not mastered the rules of English grammar nor do they speak with clear and logical meaning. Going to college in Britain for instance must come as a shock. Young people today do not read the classics, nor do they read for pleasure. Instead so many are diverted by computer games and their ability to communicate suffers. Pardon my freewheeling thoughts, it has been a long and tedious day. Good night to all.

I had this for my colonoscopy. It literally felt like I closed my eyes for 10 seconds and woke up again.
