Goes like this: Add a layer with gradient (perfect) > Add a mask (that's good, no need of extra work) > Add feather (ok, you are going to far on details, stop!) > Add a text on top (stop! I gonna cry of pleasure!) > Add effects (This is a miraculous piece of art! ;-) )

I was hoping this video would show how you did the Saturn-like planet with the other orbiting planet. And was waiting to see it on Adobe Live but you never came on their channel. Is it possible for you to do a video showing how you put that comp together completely. Thanks in advance and your work and style is great!

Now for my problem: If I increase the value for the Mask Feather, only hard edges appear. I have already googled like crazy, but couldn't find a helpful answer. Do you have any idea what it could be? Hey Ferdinand! Do you possibly have an effect applied to the layer? if so, try precomp-ing it (with the effect inside the precomp), then apply the mask outside of it. and just make sure your mask is not on the edge of the solid/object. hope this helps!
hey there! are you trying to create mask on the text/solid layer? make sure you select the layer before creating mask. when no layers are selected, the shape tool will just create shape. but when a layer is selected, it will create mask :) hope this helps!

What is it that you do to the Bottom edges of the text? you don't show it in your steps but it's visible in the preview in the start.

No matter what I do, I can't get the mask to create right. It just adds a shape and the background doesn't change. Can you help me out?
