Scott strikes me as a first class man dedicated to doing the best job he can while a) respecting the budgets of the buyers, and b) making enough money to sustain his business. I wish him every success.

@@xthexadvantagex excellent point. It sounded like Scott learned a lot from watching Matt’s videos and thought of ways to incorporate them into/adapt them to more affordable builds.
Scott is my new favorite builder on The Build Show. FINALLY someone that's doing high performance projects in a creative way so the masses can afford them! I love it.
I'd love to see more of Scott on the channel. The combination and contrast of what you can do at the top end (with Matt), and what you can do super well on a more modest budget (Scott).
You know, a few hours ago, I would have agreed. Now, not so much. Someone has convinced a good chunk of the American people that they somehow deserve stuff they aren’t willing to do the work to earn. And, on top of that, they now think it’s just fine to take it from others who did earn it. I guess it started with the income tax, and a century of Marxists in education later, twenty something kids think they should be able to own houses that cost over $250,000 while working as clerks and waiters. Well, there’s no free lunch, so when someone sells them a PoS tract home you can put your fist through, I no longer care about their pain. Just don’t.
@@kevchard5214 Sorry, but how many of the people buying into those homes are of the same sort who vote for the free lunch politicians and their promises? All? And then, they will blame capitalism for their socialist provided home quality. Having had this scum verbally attack me because they’ve been convinced by politicians and public school teachers that they can’t have nice things, I’m going to simply shake my head when they reap what they’ve sown. Work, risk, frugality, and wisdom are now seen as evil by these fungi. I no longer care, and won’t care until they inevitably wise up. The politicians better hope there are no pitchforks involved in their mob’s transformation.
@ Kev Chard - it actually has quite a bit to do with the buyers - as Matt has pointed out before, "Most buyers don't know quality" but they pay attention to the price. As ethical realtors often counsel, "Buyer beware"...
I’m a medical writer with degrees in biology and health sciences. I’ve spent my career doing medical research. I stumbled on this video because of some strange algorithm - and I’m just lucky. Normally, I’m trying to help cure cancer. I do not have the time, the patience, or the background to investigate and determine whether a home builder is doing a sound job or slapping together a piece of crap. Most people don’t. That’s why it’s important to have regulations, permitting requirements, and licensed inspections. That way, I can be an expert in my field and do my part, following the myriad regulations, to make sure the medicines you take some day will help your health and not kill you, and I should be sure that when I buy a newly built home, it’s not going to crumble in just a few years. It’s like a social contract. Whether people like the word “regulation” or not, we need them for a well- functioning society.
I'd love to watch as many videos as Scott is willing to put out. Proper techniques but budget-friendly- the perfect niche! Hoping he starts his own channel and documents all of the things he's doing for us to watch! I don't care about it being a well-edited video. Just getting it out to us with nominal editing would be great.
@@kellieewart Ditto from me. This was how ALL his videos should be. I just watched one of Matt's on a very expensive infloor heating product. I have always wanted something like that for the comfort level, but not at that kind of pricing. Maybe if I was a multimillionaire which apparently must be most of Matt's clients now. Scott brings quality to the masses hopefully at a great cost point.
This man is single-handedly repairing the collective reputation of spec home contractors in the US, which they have done a good job of demolishing during the last 30 years by throwing up cheap, shoddy residential structures all over the country.
Certainly working hard to bridge the gap. It amazes me that more builders are doing this. I've owned 6 houses in the last thirty years, with every one of them they got a little bigger and nicer, unfortunately none of them were built with hi performance in mind. Builders need to stop looking at customers as a one time customer. If you build houses the way they should be, then you would get repeat customers. (i seem to remember reading that the average home owner keeps their house 6 years)
@@samvoyles2096 damn.. i live in the same house for the last 20 years, maybe its just me, but i hate moving, and as long my friend circle lasts here, i wont move away...
I'm trying the same but it's tough. I moved back to where I grew up and decided to do spec only entry level homes. It's been 20 years since I worked on any entry level homes and I forgot the ego issue. A lot of "are telling me I don't know how to do my job?" and " I've been doing it this way for 9- 13- 22" years ect..... My response is usually "I'm just telling you to do it like the plans are drawn".
This is one of Matt’s BEST videos ever! Scott clearly is a man with a mission to Build houses the way they should be built! Hopefully Scott’s home buyers will start spreading the word to their friends and they’ll tell more friends, to spread the word … education is key! I love the longer format! I’m not a builder and I never played one on TV. I sincerely appreciate the thorough explanations at a more novice level.
Long format is great. The editing keeps every minute meaningful. This builder is a hero, by the way. Building smarter doesn't necessarily mean spending twice as much on the house. All the good ideas on your channel are free, too, so it's nice to see other builders learning from your videos.
This was one of the better videos. All your years of experimenting and striving for higher performance is pushing people like this gentleman here to reach higher as well. This is the ultimate goal!
I've personally applied some of your details in renovating our home in southern Louisiana. I like to call it unnoticed improvements until we go to a friend/family members house and we can immediately tell what a difference it makes. Rock on Matt!
I like the long format. Details are being covered better and we can see the excitement with this builder in doing the job right. He is definitely building a good name for himself and his work.
I just want to echo what everyone else has said: This is such a great video! It's crazy intimidating to see all of the other super high end custom builds without much concern for budget. This one is much more encouraging.
21:00 "Home building as it should be..." *THANK YOU, SCOTT* Long format video essential for this type information. Thanks Matt for showcasing this small builder and his solutions & dedication to craft and excellence. Prospective homeowners working within budgets desperately need this.
Love the long format video. The more we can educated every novice and consumer the more we can expect builders to become personally invested in the quality of the work they put out, by necessity. Thank you Matt & Scott.
This builder appears to be very proud of what he is doing with his home builds. He loves sharing it with you who he obviously respects. Thanks again for this type of show.
I love this guy's philosophy. Everything you need and nothing you don't. This is building science for the everyperson, not just the rich. Let's see more of this!
You make a good point! I always look at ROI with regard to Time Value of Money. Wife & I are in the planning phase of our "Forever Home," and we can afford top end build features. We've built & renovated a few homes over the past 18yrs. While I'd love to go hog wild on this final build, a lot of things don't make sense to do so when I run the numbers on payback duration. So, we pull in the reigns and choose "Smart" instead of "Best" (and favor a build like Scott's example here) because I'd rather invest the cost savings between the two methods on a down payment for another rental property that will make far greater profit than top end energy saving materials will ever realize.
We need Scott on social media! This work he’s doing on more “average” homes is amazing! Making high performance more accessible to everyone because he sincerely cares about a better quality product for the buyers 👏🏼
I would love to see more of Scott's work highlighted - I think his approach needs to be adopted all over because 90% of homebuyers can't afford the Risingers and Bazcecs. He's filling a huge void in the market between that top tier and the bottom feeding tract builders using Tyvek and a prayer to seal the houses.
The video (and audio) was well done. For the most part, the information was delivered in an easy-to-follow fashion. I am, however, a little unclear as to what type of spray foam will be used. At one point, Matt alluded to the use of low density foam, but it was not specifically confirmed by Scott. Also, I was a bit disappointed that no details were revealed regarding the roof deck other than the underside was to be spray foamed. I am curious as to whether any additional foam board insulation will be used above the roof deck. For all builders... investigate the book "Pretty Good House" - a guide to creating better homes. Pretty Good House provides a framework and set of guidelines for building or renovating a high-performance home that focus both on its inhabitants and the environment-but keeps in mind that few people have pockets deep enough to achieve a “perfect” solution. The essential idea is for homeowners to work within their financial and practical constraints both to meet their own needs and do as much for the planet as possible. www.tauntonstore.com/pretty-good-house.
Just curious what's so wrong with using Tyvek? I don't know much about home construction, but I see Tyvek being used on 98% of the houses where I live.
I actually like this long format better. Taking the time to explain why and how things are done is worth the time to watch to the end. Especially nice to learn that these upgrades can be affordable
Agreed. I liked this video a lot. Every part was well explained, helping non-builders to follow along. And that helps to know what to ask for or ask about, with contractors!
@@1d1hamby I think you still need the occasional condensed video to bring in new viewers - a lot of people won't sit down for a 45 minute video from an unknown channel, but will for a 10 or 15 minute one - but you certainly can't fit as much info into that video, so you have to carefully weigh who you're targeting - new viewers or long time viewers. There might be a rare topic where you can be detailed *and* fit it into 10 minutes, but so many topics *need* the extra duration to be fully fleshed out - and if you don't spend the time on a really thorough video, you'll spend it watching a second or third one to fill in the gaps.
More of this budget-friendly content, please!! This is what most of us watching your videos can afford. Sincerely connected with this video & Scott. Kudos to him.
Matt, props for highlighting Scott's company. Help a brother out and hook him up with your media folks. You 'know' people. Yes, you do! The industry needs to see Scott "boosted" on an ongoing basis.
He's a spec builder so media isn't needed. But if he wants to take on investors or start doing client builds. Scot I recommend just getting more money not clients. Reach out to me if you want to take on bringing investors. I'm looking into doing the same. Rodger
Man, this was the best episode in awhile. Scott is truly dedicated to his craft. You can tell the amount of time he was put in to solve around the problems he sees, with the budget he has. Hope to see him around more.
I have watched many MANY of Matt’s videos over the years and this one is ABSOLUTELY my favorite - specifically due to Scott’s true passion to building science on a budget. I am in the the process of rebuilding (not remodeling) my 1980’s home and I was truly moved by his commitment. Keep these values and I am certain you will succeed in everything you do. Best regards.
This was great -- we need more Scotts! It was fantastic to see that Scott has worked towards a build quality destination with a cost constraint and innovating to make that happen. We need more of this, and we need more videos like this to share the knowledge. Thank you for sharing!
I think it's safe to say we are all smitten with Scott! An ethical builder who is price conscious, focusing on people who can only afford a more realistic budget. Thank you both for making this video!
Many thanks to Scott for showing that spec homes can be built energy-efficient and air tight. Thanks for the longer video so more of the details could be shown.
It would be a great Build Show spin off traveling the country finding finding performance and cost conscience builders like Scott. There are so many old school, resistant to change builders out there, it's hard to find someone forward thinking .
I am a certified building contractor in NWF. I do like a lot of the things I see on this show and have been a fan for about 4 years. I learn a lot of little things from you and the other builders you have on your show. Thanks a lot Matt
I really like content that shows high performance on a budget. I really think that the majority of people that subscribe to this channel have to be budget conscious. Keep up the good work!
I love builders like this. He's not doing anything crazy, but he's slowly changing the game for the common, spec house. And you can just see and hear how excited he is to talk about it and show it off. It's builders like him that will help this quality of construction to become the standard of all builds in the future.
You asked for comments on the longer format. Yes, I like it a lot! I've lived in a "cardboard house" by a production builder for the past 30 years. I'm looking ahead to building a retirement home in the next couple years, and I want to incorporate as many of these features into it as possible. I can't afford the kind of custom home you build, so what you presented here as a more affordable way to achieve a high efficiency structure will be very helpful. You and Scott ought to collaborate on a book for the average homeowner, about how to build a home like this one. I wish you had one now, so i could save some of the time I expect to spend viewing all your videos to glean as many details as possible.
Finally some different content! I like this Matt. We’re hearing the challenges of the industry with trades. We’re seeing an efficient home for a good price. This is up my ally. Good long format with a bit more depth. Thanks!
Hey Matt, I was in oil for 15 years, got laid-off 2 years ago and started remodeling to keep the bills paid, also waiting for people to start hiring again. I have always built stuff, and enjoyed building science, thats how i found your channel. Ive decided to try to get a job as a super at a builder, I would have never gone this route if it wasnt for your channel. I have applied to a few builders, hoping I get an interview and just get a start somewhere. It seems like an exciting career, always trying to make the best possible product for someone to enjoy for generations.
The long form "ramble content" is where the real learning happens. I enjoy your channel and look forward to swinging the hammer and being highly involved in building my own high performance home someday
My favorite video yet. This guy is awesome, actually building quality for the masses. I'm taking notes and look forward to getting a quality home built in a couple years. Thanks
Scott. Watched the entire video, you are a contractor that people dream of. I pray that more viewers realize the performance you are giving your homes are understood. I wish you good things, keep up the most conscientious builds I have ever witnessed. And begin posting, I would watch it continuously.
Yes I like the new longer form content. I admit I was a little worried that editing might drop off but inserting the clip of how you used the novel framing technique the next day and also provided a much better detail view gave me renewed faith. Keep them coming. I’m not a builder I’m a fascinated homeowner and D-I-Y-er, so seeing quality work on a smaller budget is helpful.
I would honestly love to work with Scott, as a former carpenter apprentice , you have a through approach to the work and attention to the building process plus a nice character, which for a contractor is hit or miss. Good luck in future builds and with your labor team / subs.
Long format is good. The more detail, the better. Thank you for educating the public, Matt. It was good to hear what Scott is dealing with compared to someone of your caliber as I am a small business owner myself and it is good to see that other small business owners are dealing with similar problems like myself and good to see how they have worked around these problems.
Incredible! I know how tough it can be to get subs to do things the way we want instead of how they're used to doing things. Scott is finding a way to make things happen. I really love what Scott is doing here all around. "The way houses should be" it's all in alignment with my mission and goals. This video is getting saved!!
When it’s so interesting, long format is fine. I’m engaged and focused because I want to learn. I’m very glad you found Scott and highlighted all of his ideas. I can see where I can use them on my design for a “just right size “ house. Thanks Matt! N.E.OH Bob
Scott has the attitude that if he is going to do something, he's going to do it the right way. Someone who takes pride is their craft is very respectable. We need more Scott's
Fantastic video. Thanks for introducing us to Scott. I love that his insistance on a higher standard of excellence when it wasn't required, has given him the skills and reputation to work on higher standard jobs. Also the innovative way he tailors his jobsites to the local crews' way of working rather than imposing entirely foreign methods from on high is incredible.
Scott is the man. Everyone is excited about this guy figuring out the cost-effective methods to build high-performance homes. Just look at the comments. Matt, you gotta do a huge series on budgets friendly options while still maintaining the performance. It would be your most viewed videos. BY FAR
This video has me all kinds of excited as we are putting together our budget and finding subs as we launch out to to build high performance spec homes. I loved the long format. I am a big fan of the build show been watching for years and now I get the opportunity to start to implement all I’ve learned from this amazing team.
Wow. This is really an eye opener. He builds spec homes like I thought every house was built. I worked for a couple of contractors and learned a lot but like any other trade, it's constantly changing.
Matt, love your work / channel. I believe it would be FANTASTIC if you’d make one video and list your best ideas for us to view with our contractors prior to the start of our build. Start ground up. Examples, sealing foundation to sheathing, how to “California corner”, proper window install, Scott’s ideas on soffit/sheathing seal, exterior penetration seal, spraying interior walls / studs for termites, basic HVAC ideas, Pex recirculating loop. Just your top / favorite ideas in one video that could get the average house to 90% of what your fantastic homes reach in efficiency. Look forward to your new stuff. THANKS for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been in the HVAC trade for 25 years. Doing a near perfect job is about all about process. If your organized and you have process it takes about 2% more effort to do it right. When you forget materials, go to your van 25 times during an install, don’t have the right tools etc, don’t pre plan. It seems like you don’t have the time. I have also learned these traits are genetic. It’s hard to teach process, organization, preplanning. Especially in an ADHD fuelled environment. I’ve heard it many times. “Your over thinking it” and then my jobs run smoothly with out any issues. 😊 Love your videos Matt.
You are so right. I can barely remember 1 or 2 tradesmen in my 7 homes (over the past 35 years) that didn't do exactly what you described. "That tool is back at the shop/my house. You don't really need that done like that anyway." Always short-cutting, always half-assing, always late, always moving slow. It has gotten so bad that when a normal human shows up on time to do some work I almost want to give him a big wet kiss. It sure would not be difficult for a skilled, ambitious person to absolutely dominate their craft in a given area.
Loved this video, and loved meeting Scott! He seems like such a genuine, caring builder that wants to provide the best homes possible within a smaller budget to his customers. Bravo and major kudos! We would never be able to afford the type of homes that Matt builds, but it's so wonderful to see the build quality concepts that Matt uses filtering down to lower-budget builds!
Yes, I like this format. Scott is the kind of conscientious builder I would want to plan & build my house. Thanks Matt for sharing smart building technology that everyone can use to make a difference.
YES yes yes, love this type of information, bringing the higher performance to a better price point. Also loved the shelf supports in the trailer being on hinges allowing them to "fold" out of the way when not in use very inventive. -MG
I haven't been watching many of Matt's videos lately but this one caught my eye. I'm very glad I took the time to watch it all. Very informative. It is nice to know that builders like Scott are out there doing this type of work. It would be great if I knew of one in my area.
It is obvious that Scott love what he does and loves how he does it. I'm in the middle of building a cabin myself right now, and this has really opened my eyes as to how I can do a better job. Thank you!
Thank you Matt. I really connected with Scott on what he does with his common sense to do to make a house now a step forward to be self sustaining. I started in 1977 in my studies in Architecture and became an General contractor in Oregon. I retired my partnership with my brother in law in the business in 1991. During our years in this field we were active in bringing these common approach to mostly the remodeled homes we did with the limited resources that were available. I am very happy to see the use of products that engineers and inventors have made to make houses better for living. I would just like to see the cost of materials come down. These homes in my opinion are not affordable for the average homeowner across United States. I hope to see new break through to bring cost down across materials and labor to less time to build. The more holes you have the more cost you have. When this gets fixed everyone will benefit.
I love the long format like this. There’s not much new here, but it’s nice seeing how everyone does things a little different. This reminds me of the old Build show videos.
Scott True is SO good! He has clearly intelligently resolved many many of the details required for an affordable Pretty Good House system. For the sake of the nation, he deserves his own channel. We need a Scott for each climate region in the country.
We are building, for the very first time, our own custom home and I've been able to use the knowledge Matt explains in his videos to air seal our home (much more than what builders in my area are doing). I've been able to include some budget friendly high performance build components. Thank you Matt for sharing this info. I'm glad I found your channel before we started our build.
Builder's like this man, and you, Matt, are making a great impact in doing construction right. Thanks for sharing so much. These videos are WAY better than plain old TV.......entertaining AND EDUCATIONAL. Keep hitting them out of the park.
Thanks so much for showing reasonable details for a “pretty good house “!! These are the details every house should have. Scott is doing a wonderful job for his community. Making spec houses the way they should be!!!
Loved this video. Scott's passion comes through as a young wide eyed kid learning about a trade and the enthusiasm of applying custom craft and personal touch on every aspect. I really enjoyed his pride in his business. Hopefully when I build ICF in a few years I can find a builder that has his same level of detail and enthusiasm for my New Hampshire forever home.
I’ve watched your videos for more than a decade. This was your best video. Scott’s philosophy on how house building should be is a game changer. He needs to be added as a builder to your build network. I appreciate all you have done for pushing the envelope on building science/home performance, but not everyone can afford a home your company builds. We need spec builders to start building more like Scott in order to offer these high performance houses to the average person. These higher performance homes for the masses will help our country become more energy conscience as a whole and that can only help on climate issues.
Matt & Scott, great content and don't mind the longer video. As a builder from down under, I know how much detail there is when building a high performance home. This video covered everything worth noting and more. Well down to Scott for bringing this quality into a spec home. Having built in both the spec home and custom build markets, any home owners that purchases one of Scott's homes will not pay the real value of the home, well done.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Love what he's doing, and still keeping an eagle eye on the bottom line. Would love to see a builder with this approach in a colder climate to see how the details would be different.
Layperson here. I appreciate so much the depth of information and detailed approach that appeal to professionals, but I want to shout out to Matt about his storytelling abilities applied here and in other videos. Even someone who's ignorant about most of the information/vocabulary in these videos can, with effort, follow along and learn, learn, learn. Thanks to both Matt and Scott.
Great long format video for this type of content. Essential is that this guy is a great story teller and enthusiastic. Keep a mix of short and long in the channel.
We loved the fact that you let Scott share what was important to him to share. We've wondered how we could incorporate high performance with more affordable building practices and this video is the perfect source for that. We loved to see his passion for his craft while he shared the thought processes and reasons for his choices. It was great that you gave him the time to walk through his process so we could learn from him. It was a large kudo on your part that you adopted one of his techniques on your own build. Thank you for sharing this.
Instead of Mike Holms "making right". Scott is "building it right" and affordable. Huge props too Scott. The pride he showed on his face that Matt was at his jobsite, PRICELESS!
Scott seems like a good man. Like, isn't this SUPPOSED to be 'the American way' ? To do things better? To elevate the state of the art? To provide as high a quality product as possible at whatever price point. This gets back to 'business ethics'. Something that, as far as I am aware, WAS/IS part of every business degree. Awesome! If only everyone displayed such character. I am NOT a builder. I like to watch your videos because I will one day build my own home and I have a nerdy interest in alternative building materials and techniques. All the way back to the use of Roman concrete. lol ;) (an incredibly AWESOME material btw!!! With some structures it was used in still in use 2000 years later! ) Thanks Matt.
I love the long format content, my goal is to design high performance communities, so I like being able to soak up the little details that might get passed over in a short video.
Scott is the fruit of Matt’s influence in the industry. Thank you, Matt for striving towards innovative ways to improve home building. And thank you Scott for caring about your product and your clients enough to give them what they’re not asking for, just because it’s right.
I really appreciate these videos, I’m fixing to start a workshop build for myself. It’s only a 30 x40 but I am going to go crazy with it and implement many of the things you have been showing lately.
I love the combination of being price sensitive but how much design, experimentation, and detail Scott is doing in his homes. It’s very practical and gives me some ideas on improvements I can make to my own home. Well done; best video in a long time!

This is phenomenal. Bringing quality to the masses. Everyone deserves to have a house that the builder gave a shit about.

Sounds like you're jealous. You should go build some houses if you know so much about it.
Absolutely. I'd watch Scott doing walk-n-talks through his builds all day long.
Me too!
@@samvoyles2096 Real estate agents love it when people move constantly!
@@63MGB1 he didnt say he sold them. but you and MR DOT1 are missing the point
Love the long format! Can't do all the nerdy details without taking the time. This was great. Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks Matt
@@buildshow I agree on this! Long format is definitely the way to go sometimes
@@buildshow it was great seeing Scott's passion, it was also very nice that you gave him a little more time to expand on his thoughts and reasoning.
Long format for sure.
@@buildshow prefer this format
Long format is great. The editing keeps every minute meaningful. This builder is a hero, by the way. Building smarter doesn't necessarily mean spending twice as much on the house. All the good ideas on your channel are free, too, so it's nice to see other builders learning from your videos.
This was one of the better videos. All your years of experimenting and striving for higher performance is pushing people like this gentleman here to reach higher as well. This is the ultimate goal!
Totally Hank. I was super proud of Scott taking the concepts and making them his own with his sub base and price points.
I've personally applied some of your details in renovating our home in southern Louisiana. I like to call it unnoticed improvements until we go to a friend/family members house and we can immediately tell what a difference it makes.
Rock on Matt!
👏🏾
@@buildshow what price point ? Avoided question and nothing on web site ? Guessing $500 ft in Austin
I like the long format. Details are being covered better and we can see the excitement with this builder in doing the job right. He is definitely building a good name for himself and his work.
Totally agree with this and would love to see this more often. Matt you do great work but some stuff is just not in my price point.
Agree Garrett. I love to see whats possible at the higher price points, but I benefit even more from seeing how to build within a more normal budget.
I just want to echo what everyone else has said: This is such a great video! It's crazy intimidating to see all of the other super high end custom builds without much concern for budget. This one is much more encouraging.
21:00 "Home building as it should be..."
*THANK YOU, SCOTT*
Long format video essential for this type information.
Definitely enjoy the long format. We are here because we are nerds about the details and the numbers, so the more the merrier
Me too😊
@@maxsepulveda6378 There is nothing wrong with Tyvek, but it is extremely hard to detail in a way that makes it both a great air and moisture barrier.
Tyvek is a perfectly good material for its intended purpose(which is not air sealing)
A real honest and humble builder.
Very rare indeed.
God bless you Scott.
Long format is always better, because anyone can play video at double speed or fast forward parts that aren't relevant to them.
Rodger
Oh my gosh Matt! I can watch this conversation and tour for hours. It looks like Scott’s mind is full of build ideas.
Man, this was the best episode in awhile. Scott is truly dedicated to his craft. You can tell the amount of time he was put in to solve around the problems he sees, with the budget he has. Hope to see him around more.
This is probably your best video so far. Wish Scott well on educating his buyers.
Scott is doing great work. This should be the bare minimum spec for all new homes.
This longer format fit his build perfectly. So many extra features hidden away that are fully worth talking about.
IMO - this is one of the best videos on this channel. So good to see how to apply the building theories to more affordable homes.
I've been watching your videos for probably 10 years...This is what I've been waiting for. Quality without a crazy price tag.
It would be a great Build Show spin off traveling the country finding finding performance and cost conscience builders like Scott.
There are so many old school, resistant to change builders out there, it's hard to find someone forward thinking .
That’s a really good idea for video content
I agree, great suggestion!
I am a certified building contractor in NWF. I do like a lot of the things I see on this show and have been a fan for about 4 years. I learn a lot of little things from you and the other builders you have on your show. Thanks a lot Matt
Also I would like to say the long format is fine with me..
I really like content that shows high performance on a budget.
I really think that the majority of people that subscribe to this channel have to be budget conscious.
Keep up the good work!
Yes, please do
Please @matt Risinger
Nice to see a down-to-earth family man who has huge integrity and is building to the same expectation as a homeowner himself. Cheers to you Scott!
I agree. I picked up on Scott's pure joy when he mentioned he is constantly at his job site(s) throughout the day. It keeps his "wheels" turning.
I wish you had one now, so i could save some of the time I expect to spend viewing all your videos to glean as many details as possible.
loved the tour given by scott. yes the long form is something I would enjoy once a week
Ok good deal. Thanks Steve
Scott is such a genuine person who actually cares about a home being built properly. Well done on the interview and showing his awesome work!
Finally some different content! I like this Matt. We’re hearing the challenges of the industry with trades. We’re seeing an efficient home for a good price. This is up my ally. Good long format with a bit more depth. Thanks!
keep the long format vids coming Matt. Kudos to this builder for trying to get a spec home up to a higher rating and building it right.

Every home should be built like this! Love the episodes longer length.
I’m so glad you didn’t rush him through this, Matt! Loved the detailed, long form analysis. Really appreciated hearing Scott’s methods.
Love your videos Matt.
Great content! Scott seems not only knowledgeable, but also humble in how his knowledge is continually being built and tested in new ways.
Very good episode! Learned a lot. Glad to see hi-performance doesn't require building a multi-million dollar house.

YES Matt,
This long form is great for such an informative Pro!
Thank you!
Matt, I like the long format also. We're building a custom home and every bit of information is super helpful as we work with our architect and GC.
I hope to see new break through
to bring cost down across materials and labor to less time to build. The more holes you have the more cost you have. When this gets fixed everyone will benefit.
Favorite video ever. My vote is to add Scott to the Build Show.
Scott is awesome! Need more initiative and conscientious builders like him. I would like to learn more of his cost effective tricks and tips.
Very interesting content! Scott is definitely onto something and needs to franchise, we need more Scotts!
I love the long format like this. There’s not much new here, but it’s nice seeing how everyone does things a little different. This reminds me of the old Build show videos.
Scott did great! Liking the long format. Very proud of his HVAC. Maybe a quick follow up with him before drywall?
Great episode. Long format appropriate for this whole jobsite review. Scott did a great job as a newbie to video presentations.
Finally! Making high performance accessible to everyone is a higher purpose for sure. Great job Scott!
Wow. Wow.
