Some dude here thinking Japan is underdog. Dude, they world champions in 2011. And Runner up in last world cup 2015. So they played in final 2 time in a row.
Most of those players are gone. This Japanese team are very young and haven't played together very long.

I was at the stadium, nice game. Each team had its own half : Japan got first half and Scotland got second half. Real pleasure to have world games cup just a few miles away from home ! well played to both teams

failed to jump to block a high ball too. How do you keep your legs on the ground and simply reach up when you are short as it is? Makes no sense.

A penalty given to Japanese should have been checked to verify. Just my thought is that Scottish player didn’t pull or hold Japanese player in penalty area. She just jumped and touched! I would say 1-1 goal each team tied! Referee kinda needs to be careful!

Congrats to Japan... Even if they have a lot of Young players which are at their first World Cup experience, they surely are a good team... I hope to see Scotland in the round of 16 too: they narrowly lost to England and Japan and received some dreadful referee decisions against them. They deserved a spot in the last 16 teams. Just because a team makes more chances doesn’t mean they deserved to win. The team that deserves to win is the one who score more than the opponent. Nothing else matters except terrible refereeing
If you watch the slow motion video of penalty foul, it shows defender pulling on the forward's shoulder. Instead of fouling, defenders in that position should concentrate on jumping higher to head the ball.

The Japanese player mis-directed the pass and sent it directly to the Scottish player. It was a gift, none of the Japanese players were in a defensive position, let alone the goalkeeper..
Scotland should have shot from distance from the very beginning, the result would have been different!
