  • @vinceimp9581

Tiger Wall 2 isn't bad in wind, the extra spreader pole and double vestibule help keep the sides more dome shaped and rigid. I've totally thought about the front entry in a few tight spots but I've always been able to rig the vestibule up tho. The extra mesh is nice in the summer but it really makes a difference in the winter to have some extra wind blockage while still getting air flow. At least in AZ winter anyway.

My "Right Tent" is a hammock (wherever there are trees).
No muddy floor, no splash back problem. A ground sheet is a plus for changing, cooking, etc. and can be rinsed in a stream (or the rain).
Easy to mix and match to personal preferences.

Thank you for the informed tant in favour of tunnel tents. Love my Mountain Hardware SMUL2 that is fully freestanding. Tried to love the Fly Crk and FC Bikepack 3x for similar reasons but found it too “weak” in wind. Own the bikepack Tigerwall 3 and it greatish. Not perfect. Bought the 1p Nemo Hornet bikepack. Great stealth colours and nice design but I worry about the fly coverage being too high. No rain experience yet. But hard not to love the footprint size of a good tunnel tent. My choice for winter too. I was yelling “footprint” at the start of your video lol.

As far as the rain fly on the hornet, the elite uses the new osmo fabric that makes that complaint pretty much irrelevant. It's hydrophobic and does not retain water like PU coated nylon so virtually no water is left on the tent body anyways. It does not "wet out" like traditional tent fabrics. It's also white and gray if you aren't a fan of bright colors.

Bryce. I loved watching your review! Great points, right on. I'm a tent dork and I enjoyed every point you made about your choice in tent. I also agree about the awful Nemo green color tent and the BA yellow color. Why on earth make tents that color. 30% of the reviews on Nemo complain about that stupid cut out that allows rain inside. Great review! Keep it up, I'll keep watching. Still deciding on my "dream" tent. Excellent sense of humor, you had me laughing in a good way.

Thanks for doing this! Like others, the other channels don't really test or discuss things about this tent. I like this type of tent, but this color makes the tent look really hot and I'm curious about the condensation. Either way, I need to look at a SilPoly tent review to see how that does in the rain.

I totally agree with you. I can't get myself to buy the tiger wall because of that nasty yellow color (even though you did buy it). I also don't want privacy material blocking my view. Nice review--this is not a beginner backpacking tent, I don't think, given its minimal frame, thin materials. I like your review covered practical everyday usage concerns (setup, storing gear, eating). Even though it is 1lb heavier, I am still loving the Copper Spur UL2. I DO like having 2 vestibules though when I bought it I couldn't imagine using both (I'm a mostly solo hiker). Love being able to pick up the freestanding tent and moving it fast or just dumping the dust/debris out of it when packing up. Enjoy the Fly Creek--would never work for me at 6'2" but Big Agnes makes quality stuff. Should last you.

I wanted to like the nemo tents, especially the dagger with their fancy osmo fabric marketing, but I just hate the cutouts so much, I want the option to drop the fly as close to the ground as possible in certain weather conditions and the cutouts make that impossible. I also had trouble with heavy winds so all these tents with this weird tri-pole design, or single "spine" pole just weren't going to cut it. Those winds also carried dust and dirt and having a solid walled tent (4 season) or at least those raised "privacy" walls really helps in keeping the insides cleaner.

This Tent Performance in strong Winds is ultra bad :(

Are you getting paid for this review? It’s hard to tell these days. I love this tent. Why has everyone gone Nemo or anti-front entry? It’s gotta be money right? Tell me it ain’t true.
