First cut took 1.5 hours, but was not very efficient as I’m learning the machine and figuring out the best route around. The power & speed is a significant upgrade!Once I get things figured out should be close to an hour. I’ll post a follow up soon, and keep track of service stuff (first oil change will be at 8 hours). I’ve got a list of maintenance parts I’m picking up from the dealer next week to handle basic service/upkeep myself during the season.
Yes and no. I love my hrn but for the tall stuff 1 foot anything with a proper side discharge is better. The rear discharge will clog even with dry grass if it’s overly long. After it clogs it’ll kill shortly after
Nice! I love the look of this scag. I run two timemasters. This is our second season with them, they have been great. No issues at all with them. My only complaint with them is that the gas tank has a giant foam brick in it, I guess to act as an additional filter. But it takes up room and the tank is not very big to begin with. They have to be filled up after every yard they are used on. I have also accidentally ran them out of gas many times because the tank capacity is not great. You can only run them for about 30 minutes straight and then they are completely empty.
Bought one for a back up July of 2023. Pulled it out of storage with only 1.6 hours on it and it’s a no start. Took it to the shop yesterday for repairs. Again only 1.6 hours.
Nice video. I bought one late last year and have 28 hours on it. I have did a few RUclips’s on it as well, just up loaded a new one. Tip: take your time when mowing. Let the lawn mower do the work. It’s way different than a 20”. Wait for at least 5 mows to decide if you like it or not. And congratulations!!
I had one of these and quickly got rid of it. Pulls to the left, extremely heavy, chute to the bagger constantly clogged up, always popping wheelies. Replaced it with a Toro 30 and love it.
I work for a landscaping company. They have Toro 30's which have a lot of those problems except maybe clogging. Plus when you are actually mowing it is hard on your hands.
@@russellsorrentino4756 Nope this machine is terrible. I had one too and it was so heavy and hard to maneuver compared to the exmark 30. I sold mine within the first week that I had it.
I bought it since the release and was a headache. The first 150 hrs spent every 10 hrs in the shop for clutch breaking. After they put the new solution of removing the clutch, i added a good 300 hrs. Now, the mower doesnt stay on past 3 min. Would not recommend, get a residential 30in time master with commercial belt pulleys. Cheaper and lighter than the rest of the 30in walk behind.
Toro, Exmark, Scag, and DR Power, I think are the only 4 options. The DR Power doesn't have swivel front casters, so you gotta tip that heavy mower up to turn it around like a regular 21" mower....I don't think the Toro/Exmark does either. The 1st version of the Scag didn't have those swivel casters either and apparently Scag listened to the complaints and put them on the newer versions LOL.
Been eyeing it to replace my Honda lil yours also. Few of my yards my big mowers can’t get to. The reviews has caused me to wait a bit and the fact the Honda is so trouble free but I love the look of the scag
Really nice lookin mower. Ive had my honda hrx217 for 5 years and was mowing up to a dozen lawns with it. Its been fantastic and ive only had to replace the pull rope and do tuneups. I doubt ill upgrade anytime soon, but i always like to know what else is out there.
The Honda mowers are awesome, I’m definitely not getting rid of mine. If only Honda made a 30”. It’s shocking how few options there are and the prices. The Scag has some quirks, but for my application it saves time & cuts great.
I was looking at these for my dad. Send like a nice mower. The belts have me a bit concerned, since they seem to be exposed from the inside, collecting debris. How's the cut quality? So you get it done with one pass, or is it more of a maintenance mow?
I'll post some video of the hill I deal with on my property, and general likes/dislikes in a few weeks when I do the 8 hour service. I had one mow that was a little challenging with soft ground after some rain, but when the ground is dry no issues.
The mower def makes it look small, and it’s not super easy on/off (hopefully it will get easier with practice). I need to get a side by side with my 21” bag. TBD if I continue to bag the entire lawn.
Yes, there is the learning period. I guess we can’t count the first couple of cuts time wise. Good luck with your new machine🤟🏻
Yes man, that’s a high quality machine. Be interesting to hear your new cut times with it.

Looking forward to your updates on this and real world homeowner comparison with the 21” Honda.
Yes looking for the same!
That Honda is the real MVP!!

Does Honda make a 30”?
@@normrubio no but the Ferris fw15 is 32 inches and uses a Honda gxv 390

I REMOVED the foam in my Timemaster gas tank years ago and it didn't cause any problem at all. Sooo glad I took it out !!

Kohler or Yamaha engine?

Sounds like you don’t know how to use it lol
@@russellsorrentino4756 you sound butt hurt fellla.
@@russellsorrentino4756no. It’s the most hated scag mower on the market.

I always stick with 21in decks only because it's less parts to break. Like pulleys and belts.
22 tho

How's this been working out?
A SCAG dealer told me today the clutch issues on the first gen are fixed. How do you feel about the SCAG30 vs. the SCAG 21" with the same 7HP engine?
How do you like it now? What made you decide to get the 30 over the 21 scag?
Showed everything I want to know except the blades which do the actual cutting.
Thanks, I’ll make sure to get video of the underside when I do the 8hr service this weekend.
Is the engine set off center.
Yes, approx 4” off center
Has anyone used these mowers on hills?

YOU could always go Ferris. Just sayin?
You're going to be selling it in a few weeks. 😂😂
Not a.very big bag on it

Would not recommend that piece of trash. Wayyy too heavy and you can mow up hill or slopes. Go with something lighter if you can.
Those mowers are the worse
The 30,, scag mowers are the worse
