Joey and Shivam are so lovely. Joey is helping everyone with their triggers and reminding them of their options, Shivam is just so happy about everything in a wholesome friendly way, it’s all so sweet
I'm in the middle of the episode and I want to say three things: 1) This is an awesome game, everyone seems to be doing what the deck intends to do, and it's mostly because of the card draw engines. 2) The Baba Lysaga deck is terrifying 3) I don't think I've ever seen anyone enjoy a game of commander as much as Shivam does. Every time I see him play, he's the giddiest, happiest and most wholesome commander player I've ever seen. If I could, I'd invite him to every game I ever play for the rest of time. He's a great fit for the CAG because he really understands that this game should be fun.
Joey's plan of reincarnating his Commander with different art each time he cast it is *chefs kiss* Definitely stealing that for my commanders who have several different versions.
Yay! Joey talked up his Baba deck and I am excited to see this play out. And Shivam trying something new (welcome to the dark side!) is cool too. Spellslinger is my absolute favorite type of deck, hopefully it goes well. Edit: Shivam definitely lived the Izzet dream and everyone else's nightmare.
Small rules correction on Neera: her ability is a may, but “triggers only once each turn” means that once she sees a spell cast, whether or not you choose to put it on the bottom, you do not get another trigger that turn from that instance of Neera. I’m not trying to nitpick because it’s definitely easy to miss, but it can be very important at more competitive tables so I thought it was worth mentioning!
@@shivambhatt8380 happy to help! Also can I just say how much I enjoy seeing you in the commander content I watch? I really appreciate your enthusiasm for the game, especially as a fellow creature deck player!
Welcome, Shivam, to the wonders of playing Storm. Hardcasting Omniscience is one HELL of a drug. As a storm player, I don't blame you for taking super long and missing a billion triggers, sequencing is really hard, especially when you've got all those chonky cards and wheels and all the other intricacies of playing the archetype. Going through it all with as many triggers as you had going is an extra layer of challenge on top of an already overwhelming board state, ESPECIALLY as a first-timer. However, now you see why we do it, because going through those epic sequences is Magic at its finest. Amazing episode, and watching Shivam storm off made me insanely jealous. His giddiness in playing all of those big stupid wonderful spells all at once was a true delight.
Listening to the joy in Shivam's voice as he discovers the decks ability is a pleasure to watch. Oliva, thank you for aiding and abeding Shivam go off Joey i keep wanting to sing baby lasagna to the song baby shark this is a problem Aliey tuvasa is awesome flickering ward will draw an extra card every turn
Small correction on Instill Energy, the fifth edition (the one Joey is using) is the latest paper printing which appears to give haste, but the magic online version and the current oracle text has reverted it to the original "can attack as though it had haste" meaning it does not allow for tap abilities on summoning sick creatures. Still a fantastic card for Baba Lysaga (in my own version of the deck), just wanted to spread the news if possible (maybe WOTC will update to the more common understanding someday)
"Bullshitting around a table with friends, cards are involved." Is the best way to play magic. Its like D&D, but with less homework. EDHJ basically became my go to watch immediately. Olivia and Eilidh together is just this this charisma hurricane decimating all other edh shows in its wake. This particular pod was on fire. Shivam and Joey are just precious.
I'm fairly certain Shivam had the win when he initially popped off with Omniscience but either way that deck was insane and hilarious and that game was a blast to watch
Great work guys. I love Joey on his podcast and he is always so much fun to watch and Shivam's energy and enthusiasm are great to watch, plus the interplay between Alias and Olivia is hilarious.
Your comments that point out errors need to calm down. 😂 Edited, this is almost a two hour video and one of you even said you had been playing for 3 hours. Stuff gets missed in a regular game already. I can't imagine trying to keep up over a spelltable game. Plus, this is a casual game with friends. I really enjoyed this video, missed triggers and all. ❤
Great episode as always! Shivams pop off was bittersweet as whiles I was happy for him I know how it can feel to be against that.. Obvi was his first time playing this and the deck did very well! It's just fair to say that it could do with finishers and or haste enablers to speed up possible victories, so games don't descend into solitaire mode. But that aside gg to all and ngl it was SUPER satisfying to see Olivia come out on top at the end. (no offence to Shivam but can't help but root for the underdogs in a sitch like this) And honestly I LOVE grouphug so to see it win against something like that! EVEN better.
Have been wanting to see Joey and Shivam's decks for ages and it gave me life to see all the joy Shivam had at seeing his deck go off. Always great to see players so happy when they get to do the thi g they want.
I love Neera and this episode was amazing. Welcome to the dark, fun and forbidden side of magic, Shivam! I did wonder why Olivia blew up niv-mizzet instead of Omniscience, but figured she forgot it can target anything in the moment, which is totally fair. Thanks for the amazing game to watch!!
Shivam is a great guy, finally playing Blue and kills it. Very entertaining dad kinda way, love it. Joey is equally entertaining with his dad jokes and very fun deck. Eilidh, I loved seeing your 0/1 if only for a bit. Love your energy as always. Been a while since I watched an episode due to time constraints. Have a few left.

Wow, it is so nice to see Neera. She is such an underused commander, but she is funny as hell. I was expecting Grapeshot for a million damage. And pitty that there wasn't Displacer Kitten on the table blinking Neera for more her triggers and more chaos. Still great funny deck though.
So much fun to watch! And I'm glad to see someone play Gluntch/Baba Lysaga, I liked them when they came out but wasn't sure what they could do/if they were any good.
It is so nice to see the level of fun and excitement happening during this game! I love it when I play some thing out of my comfort zone and it works so well
As a Tuvasa and Sythis player I really enjoyed seeing her in action. Thanks Eilidh. A note for posterity: Neera says "when you cast a spell, you may ..." And "this ability triggers only once per turn." This ability triggers on your first spell a turn, even if you opt to not put the spell on the bottom of the library. So you can't play something like a Talrand and save the Neera trigger for the next spell that turn.
i built myself a neera deck when she came out and I have so much fun with her ^^. The last game with her I won by displacer-kitten a red dragon again and again and again :D. That deck can be so fun :) ! Edit: yeah to keep all the triggers in mind is worth a doctorate :D .. But the deck rocks :D
Just converted my Dina deck into a Baba deck as it was getting a bit stale. It's soooooo much fun to play. I totally was sleeping on this when it came out.
I loved this episode. So many triggers and ridiculousness! I'm sure shivam had the win there somewhere but either way, it was fun to watch someone play blue like I do, with many, "oh yeah, and this trigger I forgot". Good fun
Love Tuvasa. I call my deck “Bantress.” One thing about her that often gets overlooked is that she triggers EACH turn, so I run Leyline of Anticipation and some other flash-enablers.
I love Neera, I just made a deck for her recently. Shivam, you piloted it pretty well for the first time. And seeing it pop off is amazing. Yes, a lot of misplays and missed triggers but its still fun. And the table hand fun with it!
Theoretically with echo of eon's Shivam can play and get back burn and draw effects repeatedly through the burn and Niv-mizzet triggers because you can cast everything for free through omniscience and kill the table that way. There was definitely a win on board for Shivam before he passed that turn. May also be good to have a grapeshot in the deck for these insane storm turns because it can help close out games and is a great low cost card to wheel away off of Neera if you don't want it at the time.
I often times wish you peeps did this in person like game knights. I also remember that the amount of gameplay content you awesome peeps drop shows how much you care about your community and its just pretty epic to see 😊

Atraxa can truly do it all, like lead a coalition of 34 planeswalkers that allow for her to achieve ultimate godlike power! Ahem, sorry, got a little carried away there.

Also, comeuppance doesn't protect your creatures but we all make mistakes.
Tuvasa is one of my favorite decks ever. After playing Uril, the Miststalker for a few months, and making a joke that if i could only turn the red in uril into blue, that it would be the best deck ever, out came the estrid deck, that for the first time ever, not only made the color fix, put an enchantress in the COMMAND ZONE. Epic.
also, Shivam, i think you did really well, especially for never playing that archetype! A lot of those cards are intense for seasoned blue/interaction players, and require a lot of critical analysis and thinking. For what it's worth, you were killing it my dude.
Oh, and extra kudos for taking the L in stride and being genuinely excited to see it go off. I feel a lot of players would have grabbed the salt from the cupboard and started pouring. Well played, both literally and figuratively!
@40:54, Shivan, just be brutal with your midnight clock. Sometimes the best target for your removal is your own cards (at least thats how I dealt with swinging into a Dream Trawler and electing to kill my own creature as I didnt have enough damage to race its life gain)

Also, comeuppance doesn't protect your creatures but we all make mistakes.
Cool seeing Shivam being a problem on purpose. Spicy plays
As a gruul player watching Shivam convert to the dark side of blue disturbing…..
….and awesome.
@40:54, Shivan, just be brutal with your midnight clock. Sometimes the best target for your removal is your own cards (at least thats how I dealt with swinging into a Dream Trawler and electing to kill my own creature as I didnt have enough damage to race its life gain)
It was so nice of Shivam to invite everyone to his show 😂
Olivia I like to say loved your facial expressions when I saw video about you talking about the $999 dollar anniversary packs. Priceless
I absolutely love the interaction with CS and AC 🤣🤣🤣
As a blue player who likes combos and obscene things, getting to see Shivam stress about his board and miss a bunch of triggers is something I relate to..
Like getting to go off and do crazy and complicated things is awesome! It’s also super stressful and hurts my brain and takes a long time to get through my turn 😂
Awesome show. Hope y'all are having a good week :-)
