    Xpro 2 user here, ever since I got into film photography and came into medium format, not only I love the GFX system, the slow experience feels like shooting film camera and found the GFX adapting Vintage Lens is a culture itself now, the community are very supportive, currently I'm rocking with GFX50sii + Minolta Lenses.

    • @oxeneers
      @oxeneers  Год назад

      Luis, the X-Pro2 was a hell of a camera. Truly the first camera I ever "lusted" after. And yes, the "slow experience" is crapped on by many folks who shoot Sony and ultra-fast cameras. I have an X-H2/s for the faster shooting (and taking photos of my toddler haha). I agree. I have really wanted to get into adapting vintage lenses but just haven't made the leap quite yet.
      Do you have a place where I can see some of the stuff you've made with the Minolta lenses??

    "There is nothing quite like the GFX". 100%. Excellent conversation. Truly!
    Its funny, after putting out my rather controversial video (XF vs GFX), lot of people hating on the GFX for being crazy expensive, and some people even said the pros dont need it. Well lots of people buy the A7R5… they dont need a 6k body.
    It's really cool that in 2023, photography is still alive and well. And hobbyists, even beginners are spending tons of $$ on really expensive cameras to enjoy the craft!!!!
    Beautiful shots at the end Dylan! Really loved this video 👊💪

    • @oxeneers
      @oxeneers  Год назад +2

      Yeah, at $3,900 for the A7R5, you're getting a hell of a camera but it's not close to the GFX (in my biased opinion haha). You're right though. I mean, even the Sony lenses (the great ones) are just as pricy as GF glass.
      Photography is in its golden age, even as AI ramps up and poses another threat to the space. But I saw someone say that what's happening right now with generative AI is a lot like when Photoshop came out - photographers said everything was done for. So, we'll see. For now, I will enjoy my "zoomed in at 200%" moments of "Holy hell look at that quality!"
      Thanks bro for all the support! I still think your XF vs GFX video is just so great - 56mm vs 110mm is such an interesting comparison, price point aside. So worthwhile.

    I’ve been intrigued by the gfx system since the original 50s. What has held me back, barely, is the autofocus and burst speed. For what I do, I need more reliable continuous autofocus for moving subjects (really just one model not moving that fast) and burst rate at about 10fps (not crazy). I know the larger sensor and big glass make this difficult, but maybe it’s time to refresh some of these lenses (110 selfishly for me), as the original ones were made when only contrast detect was available.

    I had the 50S II very shortly, and while the dynamic range and the sharpness are very good, the overall image (not in 100% view) was very much like the one of a X-T4 or X-T5. Same colors, very similar tonality. As I rarely ever print these days, let alone in poster sizes, I jsut do not need such a camera. An x-T5 with the new 33/1,4 or the new 56/1,2 does an incredible job. Oh, and those Gfx 50 bodies are quite clunky and slow in operation, no comparision with a Fuji X. and so heavy. Opinions differ....

    • @oxeneers
      @oxeneers  Год назад +1

      Totally agree - I think the GFX is very 'special' and it, admittedly, is 'hard' to get just right, but when you do, it beats out any other camera on the market.
      With that said, I use my X-H2 more often with the 33/1.4 and 18/1.4. It's easier to 'get right' and produces amazing results. Not at the same level of the GFX, but in the same universe, for sure.

    My prediction of the Fuji GFX lined up. I believe Fuji Japan corporation is going to re-map with a super chip that going to in par with any full frame camera.. They going to answer one of the most question that most of us found a negative in that is the lack focus speed by the time Fuji brings out other camera bodies out the GFX 50Rii is going to have a super X5 next Gen with a new sensor that would focus 10 time faster for the same price as the 50sii and will end all Hasselblad and Phase one long domination of the medium format.
    If Sony Nikon Canon full frame war if not careful they also be in that number. People want high resolution quality with a price they can afford, and Fuji Japan Corp is going to answer that.

    • @oxeneers
      @oxeneers  Год назад +1

      Gosh, yeah, that's real detailed. I think you're quite close. The new GFX100 replacement is coming later this month and the integrated grip and new body style will be nice to see but it certainly will be pricey. With the 100S still available, I don't forsee the new GFX100 replacement having mirrorless full-frame or APS-C-level of AF performance. It's still MF after all and the glass needs to physically move (like the 80mm f1.7)... so we'll see. But drive modes and fast continuous shooting is almost here.
      What a time to be a photographer, huh Jean-Michel?

      @@oxeneers yes it’s a great time.
      In 2012 I was living in Ireland 🇮🇪 doing photography and went to a camera shop that sold exclusively Hasselblad systems and I held for the first time a 60megapixel MF and the cost was 60K at the time and that was my experience with it for 30mins (way out of my price range) house note. How ever I was able to purchase the Fuji. x-Pro1 was a few lines.
      2018 I purchased my first mirrorless camera Sony a7iii with an 24-70mm f2.8GM and the 85mm f1.4GM and had a bargain 90mm micro f2.8 I still have it-it’s my go to camera.
      But I been thinking about that Hasselblad and they did make an X1D mirrorless one but it did hit-it still look expensive. But behold the gods had answered my wishes.
      Fuji GFX 50sii for $4,000 or less.
      Now my true wish for the last 35 years has been fulfilled.. Exciting is that even the word.
      I can shoot any camera that anyone puts in front of me that’s because I know the mechanical fundamental of taking pictures.
      So in close I am once again a Fuji brother this time it’s personal..lol.
      I’m a studio portrait, photographer, and the GFX 50sii is what I need.

    Interesting overview - as a hobbyist myself I confirm your thoughts about amateurs owning GFX system. I am curious why did you decide to go with the 63 considering you already have the 50 f 3.5 - I am myself an owner of the 63 and I am considering replacing it with the 50 due the more compact size for travel. This is currently my only lens due to economic reasons - I am looking at the 80 or 110 for my second lens at some point.

    • @oxeneers
      @oxeneers  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching, Dimitar! I think I initially got the 50mm for walkaround reasons but once I realized that the camera wasn't nearly as big as I had thought, I wanted something with more 'oomph' than what the 50mm could provide. I have taken some of my favorite, "Woah is that for real?" photos on the 50mm but the 63mm is a more familiar focal length to me and I do benefit from the extra DOF with the f2.8 vs f3.5. However, the 50mm is unreal for what it is. I think it's a must have for any GFX owner, while the 63mm is a luxury purchase that is fun as hell.
      I do think the 110 and 80 are great choices. If you are annoyed with slower focusing, glass 'racking' lenses, the 80mm won't be a great choice because the 110mm has the LM in it. But it's much bigger and heavier. Decisions, decisions...

      @@oxeneers Thanks for your feedback! I think the 63 is a bit underrated lens in the community. It is much faster than expected and I was hoping the 80 will be similar in experience. I tested the 80 for a few days and I agree it is noticeably slower than the 63. Considering the 80 is not a small lens itself I deem it is worth the extra size and money to go for the 110. One question - do you feel the 50 is significantly more compact than the 63 or the difference is negligible?
