I think Bardwell tends to wait until it is in a full feature release before he does too much with things. I can only imagine with a viewer base that large how many people would write him angry emails for using things in a beta state, lol. One of the up sides to being a much smaller channel I suppose :)
I did it so that my son doesn't get me with a quad in the face, lol. It is nice having the arm switch back in my control without having to hover my hands over his while he flies or be tethered to his radio with a cable!
Thanks for a great video! As a quick side note for those that have 4 in 1s you can actually do this without adding an ELRS RX and just use your 4 in 1 to do the same thing. Also if you have a TX16s MK2 it already has a hole and buttons available from the factory to make a switch for this mod!
That is pretty awesome about the MKII being even more ready for this kind of mod! I thought about doing this with my 4-in-1 as well, but I really did want to go all ELRS on this one, although you are absolutely correct that it can be done if you happen to have a multi protocol inside the radio already.
that....sounds about right, lol. I also don't know that freedomTX supports a serial based trainer setup either, and I am sure that the documentation on it would be less than ideal since it isn't a main line feature for them.
I thought about that too as some kind of add on to the bottom or wrapping around the back to keep it outside the chassis. I may have to draw some things up and see what that would look like!
for sure! You could totally do this with a FrSky receiver internally even. Would just be a bit harder with having to press the bind button occasionally :(
You could procure a fiber optic strand (from those xmas displays/spencers thing) and maybe hot glue that to the LED on the interior RX...lots of BS to do to be able to see the status light, but an idea. 🤷♂
I thought about that too!! I was thinking some kind of light pipe but the fiber would be easier for sure, lol. I have access to quite a bit of it too.....I may have to give it a shot and see what happens
@@BaconNinjaFPV Just had to look up light pipe...YEAH! Same principle, with enough time in cad, or the hot glue shop I think either could work for sure.
Great channel I have a question sir can I get your advice on the easiest way to add ELRS to my Ground radio because I want to have much more range when using my RC car I have a radio Link radio to where are the Xpress LRS can connect to. I just need to get some advice on how to do this. ?
Sorry it took me a while to get back with you on it. I just commented you back on the other video where you asked about it :) Those matek receivers are pretty awesome!
this looks like a compelling reason to invest in a boxer and keep my TX12 as a backup/trainer I like the LED in your mic. did you do that yourself, or is that a production option?
The only downside is that the Boxer doesn't have a UART readily available :( It looks like most of RM's newer stuff excludes that feature actually, which makes me kinda sad. The mic is actually a stock HyperX QuadCast S and the lighting goes on/off with the mute button. Makes for a really convenient way to know if it is hot or not....so I don't miss any of the stupid things I say, lol.
@@BaconNinjaFPV dude, you sound like my wife telling me logical reasons to stop buying FPV related stuff. Geeze, what did she pay you to say that... lol
Looks like you got this covered before Bardwell even did. Very nice

I use dog shocking collars on my kids with 6s Lipo’s attached to their hip. Best trained kids to retrieve downed kwadz 😂
lololol, I bet the make great dove season companions too :p
Definitely watching this later cuz this might be what gets me, sir.

The TBS Mambo also has a space to solder a tracer/crossfire rx on the board.
However no documentation on what that does or how to use it.

Great video is really cool that we can teach some one with this system thank you.
Thank you for checking it out buddy :)
Oh, sweet! 😃
Thanks a bunch for the tutorial, dude!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Staying a little safer now that I dont have a 5 year old will full arming control of a quad flying next to me! lol
Maybe a printed housing for the receiver and switch could be attached to the back of the tx16?

This is awesome. I knew you could do wireless with multi module acting as RX. I didn't know you could do it with ELRS.
Do you have any link to what you are referring?

@@Mupshot you don't wanna know, but let's just say I think I can finally move me while fleet over to the O3 air unit now....even the micros :p
What version of edgetx are you using?
main controller/sub-controller. there. no need to use the master/slave terminology
I like that!
vhs. ah the good old days.
I think you mean, the grainy old days, lol :p
