Nicely done. I think I may enjoy the simplicity of the opening mechanism more than the original. (Sorry Dustin) A trick with routing out a large section like that is to start in the middle and work your way out. Setup guide blocks inside your end goal size for the router to rest on, then remove them as you work towards the final exterior wall.
Sweet build ! you put that Dewalt table saw through its paces ! i ran a Architectual Woodworking Company Installation Division for 20 years and it got to the point that i only liked the Dewalt job site or portable TableSaws out on the jobs for the Installers most of all the other brands are real junk and don’t hold up to the job conditions plus the Dewalt has a better Fence and some other features Although as I get older i’m more of a Sawstop guy
Nice build! I’ve seen a ton of variations of my SCB but I’ve never seen anyone go with a lid like that. That paduak should be hard enough to resist any major wood movement so I don’t think it’ll cause any problems. Keep it up!
You would be correct. I don't know shit about it . I just seen a couple peaces move and was heading towards the car. I Wasn't being a asshole about it. I was just curious. Woodworking is not my greatest. I wish I had the mindset to make stuff like that with wood. But sadly I'm just good at working on trucks and cars. I do admire the work you did. I love me a puzzle box or a box with a hidden compartment or drawer. I have a wooden box that has 5 slots going through it and you have to figure out the correct pattern to get it open. I wish is was made out of good real wood like your box but it's made from that cheap shit. Idk what it's called. But it's still a ok box. It will never last as long as your box. Ok I'm gonna shut up bc if not I will talk your head off about this stuff. I'm interested in it but just can't get the nack of it.

I have that same saw and every sled I build sticks like crazy, even with waxing. I think it’s the idiotic textured powder coat that DeWalt uses on the table. It’s really designed for cutting 2x4s on a construction site, but the cost and portability are hard to beat for a small home shop....

@@TheTranq Oh, you're the OP, so you're serious. Wow. Start watching at 0:30 and watch your push stick. Notice how the edge closest to the blade is raising? That's b/c you are pulling the board toward you and pushing down to try and keep it in the path of the blade, while sliding your work piece sideways. Very bad practice using a table saw in this manner. Also, it is called a push stick (or block, enter your choice of shape here) not a slide it sideways stick, because you should be pushing through the blade.
