Yeah, I've been really shocked at the amount of negativity I've been getting about it. These are absolutely just my opinions and taste (hence why it is a ranking video), and I hold no ill will towards any of the creators or participants making the music. I think I need to make it more clear that this really is my personal feelings towards the music next time T-T.
@@idoluv478 sometimes it can't be helped, especially your ways of describing how you dislike the song, can make a lot of people get salty. Personally i don't mind, in fact, it's interesting to see other's view on the music.
Not really your fault, again, its an opinion, people just don't understand that. I can agree with most of these, not all of them, but i won't curse you for it. These people man.
I kinda and kinda don’t agree with most. Yeah, I guess nightcord needs more emotion, but their whole sekai is called “empty sekai” Which honestly doesn’t help. They need to choose songs that actually fit their vocals than just “haha dark emo song lets use that”
I very much agree! You put it pretty concisely, but I think the biggest issue with nightcord is that they keep covering really emotionally sung songs with no emotion T-T.
Okay, what's up with so many pjsekai fans misusing emo? At first I thought it was a joke, but now it seems like you genuinely this emo means sad lmao, emo music is closer to metal then 25ji's pop music
Some of the takes I agree with, some I REALLY don’t, but that’s to be expected. Music is pretty subjective in taste, but I DO think I can figure out why you think An feels a bit out of place in some VBS songs. From what I’ve seen, An’s (and Jiena’s by proxy) biggest strength in terms of singing is the use of her vibrato and overall more rich voice. Compared to Kohane, who’s more light and airy, An seems to work best when in songs where she’s able to flex her voice a bit. (Listen to the April Fool’s Happy Synthesizer cover and literally ANY of Wave 1 VBS story commissioned songs to see what I’m talking about) This is why An may struggle to reach the types of notes needed for VBS songs which are generally very fast paced and high energy. She can’t let her voice linger on specific notes and let the vibrato take over so that ends up leaving her notes feeling a bit flat. Just to clarify, I’m not some expert musician by any means nor is this an attack of any kind, it’s just something I’ve noticed. An’s voice is actually something l like quite a bit, but there are some songs where I think “yeah, that could’ve been better” (I’m looking at you GimmexGimme)
That's a great analysis! I think some of their commissioned songs certainly give her more room to show off her singing skills, which is why she sounds so much better in them (as they were created with her in mind at least partially). I think that the girls of VBS also do too many upbeat/lighter songs that don't suit An's vocals as much (drop pop candy, just be friends), so hopefully they get some more powerful songs to cover soon!
ohh that explains her part in 'flyer' on the second verse. her voice kinda sounds weird and its like shes having a hard time to sing in some covers(?) idk if i really described it well but its kinda like feeling uncomfortable when singing (like it is forced or smthn)
her cover of tani yuuki and dried flower is really good tho, i guess thats her singing genre (like more of a low key not like vbs energy) or when she sang happy synthesizer, she sound amazing there
some of the placements had me SCREAMING and crying but i'm glad pretty much everyone agrees that telecaster b-boy is one of the best covers in the game it's so well done and sounds great ( and this was genuinely a great list it was nice to see negative opinions on some of my favs it helped me see them in another light )
Honestly thank you so much for this comment! All of the negative ones were getting to me, so I'm really glad to see that someone still appreciates my opinions even if our rankings are way different! I watch many other ranking videos because I think it's really important to think critically about my favorite media too :)
Sorry but literal nonsense wxs cover is a banger ngl. I like Rui's voice in the second chorus and I like how they singing with a real life voice cus its sounds a bit natural. But ig it's your taste hahaha 😂😂
idk if it because Nonsense Bungaku + eve is one of my favorite songs/artists and Rui is my favorite character but the cover of my song is one of my favorites and i really like it
OF COURSE N25 COVERS DON'T SHOW EMOTION, THEY ARE LITERALLY DEPRESSED ESPACIALLY MAFUYU WHO IS LITERALLY EMPTY HENCE THE *EMPTY* SEKAI WAS CREATED , ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE TO UNDERSTAND THAT.
people trying to figure out why n25 covers sound so emotionless: insert sweaty gamer meme mmj fans listening to their songs all day: (THATS ME BTW) wxs fans after hearing you prefer miku over emu: zoolander meme l/n fans just listening to music: 😺 vbs fans after you dont ship akitoya not ankohane: loading gun vs fans just agreeing on vs covers: yes (i wrote this by my friends opinions)
This is a very old comment but even with the a year ago story it doesn't make sense. Mafuyu is actually able to have emotions she just doesn't know about them enough but music let's her getting closer to uncover and express her true feelings. That's why her songs as OWN shows a certain coldness and rage, but not emptiness 🤓☝
I honestly feel like nighcord has the best songs, all their songs make me cry and all their songs always show emotion, some people just don't see it, kanade especially shows emotion, mafuyu as well
also with the mafuyu thing in villain, i think its that mafuyu's character is pretty emotionless and that her distress is more of a silent call for help ( maybe its just me bc i like the cover and vocaloid ver bsfuygbfzfgfbgshzghbkj) then simply a scream.
Yeah I think that definitely suits her character, the issue for me is that it doesn't really suit the song. If you listen to the original and most covers it's a much more powerful song, and I think more powerful singing suits it better. I think her voice really suits some of the more 'silent emotion' songs though!
hmmm, i do think a lot of the game’s covers would sound better without the virtual singers tbh 😭 a lot of the tuning is a major hit or miss for me. also totally agree on villain, i only listen to mizuki’s another vocal cover when playing the song.
There's some guessing they used piapro studio NT voicebanks that are still in beta stages to make these songs. Remember the virtual singers have departed from vocaloid and any new releases are on that software.
@@idoluv478 yeah exactly and then for songs like miracle paint, for the original version, they use their stupid ass terribly tuned Miku from v4, and it just sounds off to the original v2 Miku in the song
@@darkessraven Sounds like NT to me and I hate it especially because with a lot of the covers sound like they were done by someone who doesn't know how to/or doesn't have the time or pay to properly tune the voicebanks
I think some covers would be better without having the vocaloids tbh, I agree on most of these. I love VBS but what happened to An’s tuning on Bring It On, I was thinking about that. Sorry I keep editing my comment but I also agree on song number 3 and higher.
I am aware that everyone has their own preferences for the songs, so my following comments are not attacks on yours. I do think that your phrasing could use a bit of work, because (to me at least) you came off as someone quite overly judgmental, especially for the first half of the video. Another gripe I had with this video are the frequent comparisons to other covers which, to me, are trying to convey different interpretations of the songs. You may have your own interpretation of the song - that is understandable. But saying that a song "should" sound in line with your interpretations could get on others' nerves easily.
Yeah that totally makes sense! I think it just comes from trying to explain as best I can why I don't like a song and what could make it better. I also have a flair for the dramatic, and I think my phrasing is used to make the video more exciting, rather than saying I just mildly dislike something (which is probably closer to the truth lol). This is my first video where I've included reasons, and I'll definitely be improving from here on out!
I have to admit kohane's seiyuu voice is pretty good in both low and high versions, and I wish they make kohane sing low someday. If u listen to mizuki + kohane villain cover (youtube) kohane's seiyuu voice is soooo good there !
I agree with the Aishite remark Mafuyu and Ena sound beautiful but it lacks that “descent into madness” feeling-if that’s what you call it. Which is a shame since they went so hard on the MV. It’s just awkward seeing the MV go batshit crazy and the singers sounding like “😄”
I agree. I know Mafuyu can most definitely do the "descent into madness" thing, I’m not sure about Ena though. And they way they re-tuned Miku.. I think they should’ve kept Miku’s original tuning.
I love your cutlery live version take. I think it's probably the best mafuyu sounds in the game with jackpot sad girl and the live band just really adds bounciness(?) to the song, which makes it really catchy imo. Anyways it's a tragedy that they don't have live versions on spotify cuz it is by far my favourite version of the song.
Yeah, i usually listen to the subbed live vers by JayCy, while the video isn't that great quality either, atleast the sound is good. But like fr the person that decided to add a guitarrist for cutlery deserves a raise.
If you’ve listened to the akito and toya cover of dramaturgy, I honestly believe they blew ichika out of the water. It’s one of my favorite covers of that song and it’s not even in the game.
Really glad I found this ranking video. I couldn't find anything else that wasn't just "i stan this group so the vast majority of their songs are in the top rankings." Also enjoyed the commentary, it was thoughtful and your vocaloid tastes really shone. Good stuff! Honestly reading some of the more negative commentary made me go, "FINALLY somebody said this" lol. Obviously I don't agree with everything but I can almost never agree with people saying N25 is so emotionless. Emotion isn't just "power" and i will die on this hill lmao. e.g. i love the villain cover and think mafuyu had a lot of attitude in it, almost like a content bitterness. Personally loved how she paired with Mizuki there and I thought it added a dimension to the song.
23:00 the rui cover is the best cover in the game if you ask me. Perfect seiyuu for the cover out of all the wxw voices to choose from. He brings a nice youthfulness/playful voice to the song while still grounding it with the male vocals like the OG song has.
Telecaster b boy gives me anime intro vibes lol. I can imagine the first verse introducing the 4 main characters (perhaps in a magical girl show or smth) and then just the chorus showing clips of them doing whatever the anime is, and then the fifth main character that gets introduced in the second season gets introduced during Len’s solo in the chorus. 😀
Hmm i do agree that the eariler covers were lackluster and they improved greatly as they found their character’s voices. But here are some of my opinions: For Odo, Jiena and Akina have made their own covers on YT separate from pjsk before the song was announced in game and they’re much better! Iirc the devs wanted them (specifically jiena) to hold back bc they’re acting as amateur highschoolers not seasoned singers. For JBF, yeah as much as I love An (best girl) her singing and cover is atrocious so I opted for Kohane’s solo which I think sounds much better. I’m surprised traffic jam made it so high on your list, the sekai covers are really good but I think the alt vocals sound strange, and I would’ve put alter ego over traffic jam but i think it’s just a matter of music taste at that point ww Im surprised you found chururia ear grating but not dance robot dance bc it’s the opposite for me I don’t necessarily agree with your number one pick but GIANT agree with Venom! It’s so good! I listen to the cover on Spotify pretty much daily ww For songs that I switch from the cover to the vs original is: patchwork staccato (i really dislike the sekai version mainly bc i think airi’s vocals were strange), happy synthesiser (idk i just dont like the mmj ver), roki (mainly bc i like to put the guys in Miku’s place so that look and sound more integrated lol, also i think the chorus is mixed weird), and near (i think haruka’s voice is too strong, or that she’s mixed weirdly with miku and minori)
This is all really interesting! I have listened to mixes of Odo from the seiyuus separate from the game and they do sound much better there. It's really unfortunate they made An's seiyuu tone down her vocals initially, but as the covers have progressed I feel like her voice is much smoother and I like it a lot better! Yeah I'm not sure why I like Traffic Jam so much lol, I think it might have to do with really liking the duets we get in the song. Some of Emu and Nene's vocals are very hit or miss, it's funny seeing how differently everyone enjoys them lol.
a lot of people here saying you're being too harsh by comparing these to the originals/other covers but i think it's a fair comparison. if they (sekai staff) didn't want their songs to be compared to other versions they should just do commission songs only. covers exist to compare and contrast different artists' takes on the same base, and it's not harsh or mean-spirited to point out those differences or when one sounds better than another. while i disagree with a lot of the takes here (the miracle paint cover is GODLY imo they all sound amazing in it) it's absolutely not unfair or in bad faith to compare them. at least, that's how i see it.
i think a big thing that people forget is that prsk is first and foremost CHARACTERS singing songs. the intention isn't to make the singers sound their best, but rather to make them sound like their character. i think akito's seiyuu is great, but his voice as akito grates my ears most of the time. but that's just what the character sounds like, and at the end of the day they mostly want the songs to sound like the cast. it holds certain seiyuu, like akina and hirose daisuke, back sometimes, but if i wanted to listen to singers doing their best i would not be looking at a character-based mobile game first. that's just what i think though, and i have been disappointed by highly-anticipated covers so it's not like i go in expecting the worst or think the characters sound bad all the time.
Yeah I definitely agree! And I don't think any of the Seiyuus are bad singers, but if I don't like how they make their character's voice sound (or are forced to make it sound lmao) then there's not much I can do but say I don't like the cover. I think everything should be looked at with a critical eye, no matter the intention when created, and that includes music! Again though as you were saying, I really don't hate anyone who participated in the creation of a cover, sometimes things just don't turn out great!
For Echo, i bought the An and Akito cover and its actually sounds great with them two. I dont think kohanes softer voice fits the song while akito and an have very powerful voices
first you rank positive dance time second-to-last and then you call viva happy mid??? i’m gonna cancel you >:(((( /j there’s smth abt super positive vocaloid songs that just really gets me pumped for some reason so i would rank both of those pretty high lmao
Yeah I certainly think it's different styles for everyone! I do really love the original Viva Happy, just not so much the cover. I think that you're totally right about positive vocaloid songs giving the listener good vibes!
I have come to realize, that I, Carmen (last name), am extremely picky with human covers of VOCALOID songs. There are a few people that I like hearing sing covers of VOCALOID songs (like Eve and Ado) but pjsekai characters feel kinda meh to me when it comes to covers. Like, they are good at singing but something about it feels so off to me. To me VOCALOID voices have this kind of strength to them that human voices just can't pull off. (Also just a little side note but I really like the way that Airi sounds in More Jump More, but it doesn't seem like she sounds like that in many other songs and it make me kinda sad. Or maybe I just haven't listened to enough songs with her.)
tbh I like An and Toya’s version of Children Record, over the group version 😭 I think its because, since its a powerful song, they both use their voices to their somewhat potential. An actually belts one of the notes with her chest voice, making her sound really powerful over her head voice, which makes it really light and airy. I just hope they stop doing An dirty in most of the covers.
Me when Bring it On is put at the bottom: THANK YOU! Seriously this cover is so bad. Kohane sounds like she just got back from sprinting, and Ann’s vocals are so grating. I still can’t believe anyone at Colorful Palette thought this cover was okay to put in the game.
I agree, Ann’s voice sounds very scratchy when she gets to those high parts. I honestly think the song is so much better when it’s just Rin and Len. >:[
@@luliisafish I mean I really like the album version of the cover. The vocals sound much stronger and easier on the ears compared to the in game version in my opinion. But either way if you like the cover that’s great.
i am so happy you were honest with your opinions, especially about the lower half of the list! i disagree and agree with a lot and i love getting to know other people's preferences!! thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion :D
The version of Odo you have in this video does not sound like the version I've seen in gameplay videos/from trusted lyric accounts. I agree that the one here is not a good cover, but I don't think this is the actual VBS cover. Both seiyuu made their own covers personally and some fans made mixes to pass off as an in-game cover before the song actually was announced for the game; are you sure this isn't one of those fanmade ones? Hello/Howareyou also sounds strange to me, something about the audio quality is not a match for the album version. And are you using a Saki solo for Ikanaide? Also, I do agree with another commenter: you base a lot of your opinions of the covers on how they compare to other covers, rather than the original songs. I think this is an unfair way of viewing them, though I admit I fall into that same trap with some songs. Your opinions on certain N25 covers "lacking emotion" are interesting. I personally don't care much for N25's Bitter Choco, but for the exact opposite reason - it lacks the inhuman flatness that I find charming in the original. N25 is given a lot of songs that are IMO meant to be sung rather flat and emotionless, because they're dark songs about being depressed. I agree with a lot of your picks of what songs are bad covers, IE, Bring It On was a terrible showing of An, and Mafuyu singlehandedly killed Villain with how weak her vocals were. But in general I think you're warping your criticism since you're comparing to Utaite and not the original, and you do seem rather flippant as a result; it feels like you're not giving the covers a fair shake because you have a different cover cemented in your head as the way the song should sound.
Yeah I definitely think that all my opinions are based of a culmination of every version of that song that I have heard. That's why this is my personal ranking. I never claim to compare solely to original versions, and I think that it's fine to like a song less because I know there is an even better cover out there. I've listened to most of these songs for over half a decade, so I do have a very cemented idea of what kind of singing/instrumental/production I like when it comes to that song. That being said, I have been surprised multiple times by how good a cover sounds in a way I'd never expect such as Ikanaide (yes I did use a Saki solo lol). I don't think this ranking has to be fair, because when it comes down to it, it's my personal ranking not an objective data-collection study I've done on each song. For Odo, I actually wasn't sure which was the pjsk version because there have been lots of different versions and mixed pushed out on youtube. I did give multiple versions a listen though, and I picked what I thought was the best sounding one lol.
@@idoluv478 I mean, your opinions are your own and they're perfectly valid, you can't help it if a cover you prefer shapes your opinion on these ones. But when you frame a ranking as Project Sekai covers and then base said opinions on external covers people will be right to say "why are they relevant?" It would be like ranking the characters from into the Spiderverse and putting Peter Parker low on the list because you prefer how Yuri Lowenthal voiced him in a video game. It's your opinion and that's subjective, there's no right or wrong, but it's totally irrelevant to Into The Spiderverse so why bring it up?
No one has shitty music taste lmao. It's fine that you like all of the covers, probably even better! You get to enjoy all the music that comes out, and I think that's really awesome! The whole point of ranking videos is to give opinions, which means that there is no right or wrong lol.
Jishomushoku isnt meant to be desperate!!! It is literally a song about how someone has given up on life until they realize that one person still needs them. Desperation is not the goal here.
tbh some of the virtual singers sound VERYYY awkward in most pjsk covers. however!! i think my alltime favorites would have to be WXS: showtime ruler & more jump more! showtime ruler is SUCH a good song on its own. when i first heard it i was very blown away by ruis vocals (i still am lol) since he doesn't tend to be a major singer besides in his duo songs or solo covers. also, rin sounds very natural and she blends in very well with nene, emu and tsukasa! also the chorus is literally so banger lol.. anyways its just really good AND not a super long song. (not even 10 seconds past 2 minutes.) and more jump more.. i just love more more jump idk im pretty biased but i love how energetic it feels? also the charting is pretty fun to play.. but everyone does spam it in co-op LOL so a bit annoying...
Your ranking and opinions are pretty fair ngl, I mainly agree with your point in terms of the covers having wonky arrangements at times definitely by a lot
I just watch for 1 minute but hey did you listen to VBS vol 1 cover album? They re-take An's part!! I really glad they re-take it bcs it always bug me whenever I listen to it
This is my first time to see a song rank with highly critical reasons, and I'm into this kind of stuff. While I see many people seems to perceive you as one who's too much hating (is this makes sense), I instead think it's interesting to see how people with low rank actually puts reason on each rank. It's usually hard to do that, but you are a brave soul for sharing these thoughts in here It actually also widen my sight on why some people think these songs are good or bad. Like, oh, I think I understand that, and even pointing that this is maybe why I'm also not into it. Then, it is unavoidable that there will be different opinion, I also have big disagree with several of the placement (such as Nonsense Bungaku it could be higher to me, or I'm not a big fan of Venom (I'm sorry..!)), but what can I do if this opinion video isn't by a lot of person? There are a lot of good placement with valid reasons so it placed higher. And I really, enjoyed the journey on watching this until the end. Another thing to point out is on the placement of 25-ji, especially on the commissioned songs (which I also saw it!). When it seems not really emotional to you I think it's ok, in fact I also feel so. Of course there will be a lot of people who says that it is what 25-ji meant to be, I understand on them, but I really think it is also not wrong when people see it otherwise, something like these are not as 'powerful' (not to add the fact powerful is actually a word with a lot of kind of usage). (AbouttobebonkedIalsohaveabignodwhenyoumentionedkuyamushouldbereplacedwithkagirinakuhaiiroasdebutsong) To end this comment I'd like to say opinions are opinions, it is people's choice to 'fight' or not, and I hope you will learn more perspective from this video, but not to totally change your opinion when you're really into it. Thank you for sharing this kind of content Edit: I've been not really into Sekai for long, but I agree that Telecaster Big Boy and Milk Crown Sonnetica are one of the best covers
Thank you! This comment means a lot to me! I agree that others' opinions are powerful and help us change a lot, I find myself changing some of my opinions too after hearing more about the song's origins or other interesting facts! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Yep! It is my taste, which is why I really hate some songs and really love others. That being said, I make my opinions a bit more dramatic so the video is more entertaining. If you are watching a ranking video you should expect strong opinions to appear ^-^.
I agree with you on most kf these tbh, im one of those people who only listens to certains songs for a certain reason, it probably doesn't even have a genre either but i know i like rock/metal that is just sad
I agree with your point on bring it on but I feel offended on you hating positive dance time. With just be friends I hate the regular cover(it really sounds disgusting to me) and kohanes solo cover sounds so much better, Id also recommend listening to ichikas solo cover of dramaturgy if you haven't listened to it already it's brings me happiness
Fr I was soo shocked that Positive Dance time was ranked so low 💀 Kinoshita is one of my favourite composers and his music always gives me motivation to do things :)
so glad oki ni mesu mama was put as third cause that's been my favourite eve song for Ages and when i found out that my favourite group (proud tsukasa stan) was doing a cover i put my phone down and screamed for like a minute and a half. i love that cover and feel bad for anyone who's had me in coop cause thats the song i choose almost everytime
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES ON THE COVER OF DREAMIN CHUCHU! (some of these placements had me on the floor crying but the picks for the higher ranks were rlly good)
I kinda like watching these types of videos it just shows the diverse taste of music of other people since most songs that are ranked high (the top 5 were pretty much songs I don't really like and are probably weird covers for me to hear like hello world and telecaster b boy)
Yeah I really enjoy them too, which is why I thought I'd make my own! I'm very confused at the amount of people coming here to hate when they literally clicked on a video about someone else's taste T-T.
Villain is a good song Cuz mafuyu sing with low tune and mizuki with high tune. Perfect combine And you say mafuyu bad at this cover? You have bad taste bro
61. touya and an's ver sounded better than them as a whole and it gave me the vibes of jin and maria's ver, so i agree to this. 47. surprised that you didn't complain about how kanade's voice isn't powerful for this song (and even complimented it) especially because almost everyone complains about it, probably because of mafumafu's cover. 43. tsukasa and nene's va sang this on sekai symphony and tsukasa got alot more lines there. i'm not sure if it's on yt though, but yeah i agree with you. 41. i personally didn't like this cover because all the high parts were given to miku. i thought mizuki's solo cover was pretty good. 30. this. i agree with this. (i both agree and dont agree with some of this but i respect your opinions
Thanks for sharing! I actually think that I prefer Kanade's softer vocals in Inochi wa Kirawareteiru, as I think a more resigned feeling fits the song better. I'll have to see if I can find the sekai symphony version and give it a listen!
2:16 minutes and im totally disagree ironic JWJDJASJS nonsense sounded gooood and i think that are worse and also think that Bring it on is NOT THE WORSE
i didnt expect for everyone to have very different opinions from me so uhh i mean i do understand alot but i dont hate alot of these covers cause ive heard worse and for alot of leo/need covers that are in bandori as afterglow covers, i prefer afterglow's, unless its roki i dont like moca's voice in it (shes one of my favorite characters but i dont like her voice much)
Odd that you dislike thier version of Bring It On, but you're kinda right at the same time because my favourite version of it is Layer and Chu2's version from Bang Dream Girls Band Party as part of thier collab with Rin and Ren, and they do the most epic job they could do with it, so maybe give that one a listen.
It’s okay to not like the song in general but, don’t trash talk the voice actors vocals. I know it’s your opinion but most opinions shouldn’t be shared with others
agree with a lot of these but isnt this supposed to be ranking the covers, like how they covered it..? like some songs at the bottom are there because u didnt like the song not because of the cover.. so like its kinda unfair
Yeah that's true, but with some music since I hate the original so much it's hard to enjoy a cover. I try my best to make it clear at the very least that I don't like the song rather than not liking the cover!
"It's hard to like it when Eve's version is a lot better in comparison" ayooo bruhh god DAMN this one threw me off guard. i knew we were all thinkin it but you were too honest 😭😭
this might be biased but i love every single mmj cover idk i just love their voices in general i adore them as characters and idk i just like the covers also i agree, the melty land nightmare mmj cover just slayed and my your experience of getting into project sekai thanks to it is very similar with mine, since i am a huuge harumaki gohan fan and someday when i was searching for melty land covers i found the mmj one and immediately got the game after ^^""
one thing is there was no distortion used on hello/how are you??? i checked the same exact yt video *and* project sekai and it was the normal accurate pitch, idk what happened with ur recording but it is not that low /nm
i respect your opinions on them but from my opinion, I think I like all the covers, but Bring It On? No. Yea the song with just Rin and Len was a banger but adding Kohane and An makes it worst. I personally prefer the vocaloids on a lot of the covers but I also love all the covers. Sure more covers without vocaloid makes it a bit better to some, but for me the vocaloids fit right there for me. For top 1, I’d say Cutlery. It’s so calming and just overall soft in my opinion. Edit: Bring It On got a full and remaster! It’s much better now. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/p1FWDLVEooA/видео.html
7:43 I love Gumi English songs, and Echo is the song that I've first heard from Project Sekai. The cover itself is good, but the vocals... Idk. I just feel weirded out by Toya's vocals there. Still, this song is still a click and I won't forget that song as my introductory song to Project Sekai as a whole.
you know im obsessed with pjsekai ranking videos and i feel like you actually have unpopular takes that i might not agree with but can understand. i wish some comments weren't as harsh because you can still engage with/enjoy things and be critical of them. some covers I think are fine but could've been great with better direction/mixing/vocal techniques or even just given to another singer(s). I'm a big mafuyu/nightchord fan but I think Mafuyu's "model student" voice doesn't work for songs like villain or aishite, I love her voice in useewa and bug cause they actually let her be loud and expressive.
FIXER AND CHURURIRA IS AWESOME BRO but i agree chururira was better in the og version. wxs made it sound chaotic and i honestly rlly like it ALSO YESS MILK CROWN SONECHKA APPRECIATION
The sekai covers does has their ups and downs. Like tons of the groups would've had a good cover for some songs, but theres definitely something wrong whenever I listen to it.
I'm very late but you should expect negative response to the video if you go all out with your own negative opinions lol At least from what I've seen from other ranking videos (for things that are well liked, and in general not just for prosekai songs), people tend to hold back on their... word usage I guess? "Hate" or "bad" are definitely no-no words lol Most people usually stop at "I don't like" or "not my taste"
with bitter choco decoration, theres a super good cover but i forgot the name of the person!! on spotify they've covered Bocca Della Verita and its so good; plus, the covers are aways so full of emotion. the cover is kinda purple and grey and the guy himself wears a mask?? someone please tell me the english name TwT
Tbh I think that these rankings are pretty good overall and I agree with a lot of them its just that sometimes some of them are sounding a tad biased or negative sometimes. No shame in that though, I’m sure that I’d do the same tbh. Some of the rankings had me screaming and crying /nsrs and some of them I agreed with a lot, especially venom and totemo Itai itaigaritai (probably spelt that wrong), also what in the heck was with the Bring it On cover?? Def agreed with that one. Good Job w/ the ratings though :)
I kinda agree with this, a lot of song in proseka sounds 'strained' like is actually kinda outside the VA comfort note zone either it's too high or to low for them. I saw their live concert and yes they can't control their breathing really well making them sound VERY shaky and breathy(even in minimum choreography). In defense, they're not professional singer they're voice actor so---(I've heard kanade VA said sometimes they're being asked to only sing some part in recording maybe that's why they not used to sing one song without stopping) I hope sega pick nice song for them to sing and suit their group chemistry more and i hope VA not only focus to acting as their character but to act how the emotion of the song should be interpreted.
There are a few songs to me that sound like the seiyuu's recorded separately and then the tracks were added together. This is particularly true of some of the older songs, but in particular, Just Be Friends, Dappou Rock, and Miracle Paint have that sound to me. I likely would not doubt that that's the case for earlier songs that might have been recorded during the height of the pandemic. Another thing is some Vocaloid songs are fucking *rough*, they are difficult literally and emotionally. If they're not as familiar with a song prior, they might not have the time to get the emotions down. I also think sometimes the song emotions get tossed out in favor of character moments; I'm not a fan of Positive Dance Time, but I much prefer Kohane's little moment to shine to Emu's "WONDERHOY! *SCREAMS*"
The only version of Dreamin' Chuchu I like is Airi's solo. I think she sounds really nice and she fits the song!! (I just love Ai Furihata's voice in general tbh PLS LISTEN TO HER SONGS T_T like Purple Eyeshadow, CITY, RUMIKO, and more.)
Maybe I don't get the harshness bc I haven't heard many songs before Project Sekai due to my struggle to listen to songs I've never heard before The only cover I don't like as much bc of comparing it's Traffic Jam since I compare to Miyashita Yuu's cover 😭 (I was really asking to not enjoy it comparing to Yuu's huh)
ok,If the chorus on the sekai ver. of Inochi feels busy check the Kanade solo. It's one of the few,if not the only alt vocal they postad in some way, shape or form
playing this game and not enjoying half of the songs must be difficult huh

most of them have no actual issues, it just depends on the kind of music you like and i don’t think a lot of people realise that
Yeah, I've been really shocked at the amount of negativity I've been getting about it.
@@idoluv478 Yeah, Basically that ^^
@@idoluv478 that can and will be changed with mafuyu's development of course as she rediscovers how it feels to well, feel
@@rachelle3796 that's will takes a long time, considering mafuyu is very much emo than others in Nightcord
(Listen to the April Fool’s Happy Synthesizer cover and literally ANY of Wave 1 VBS story commissioned songs to see what I’m talking about)
This is why An may struggle to reach the types of notes needed for VBS songs which are generally very fast paced and high energy.
I think that the girls of VBS also do too many upbeat/lighter songs that don't suit An's vocals as much (drop pop candy, just be friends), so hopefully they get some more powerful songs to cover soon!
i love an and her voice i feel its very unique but i dont think she really fit to sing with kohane
@@kooyuki I agree.
ohh that explains her part in 'flyer' on the second verse. her voice kinda sounds weird and its like shes having a hard time to sing in some covers(?) idk if i really described it well but its kinda like feeling uncomfortable when singing (like it is forced or smthn)
her cover of tani yuuki and dried flower is really good tho, i guess thats her singing genre (like more of a low key not like vbs energy)
or when she sang happy synthesizer, she sound amazing there
some of the placements had me SCREAMING and crying but i'm glad pretty much everyone agrees that telecaster b-boy is one of the best covers in the game it's so well done and sounds great
( and this was genuinely a great list it was nice to see negative opinions on some of my favs it helped me see them in another light )
Honestly thank you so much for this comment! All of the negative ones were getting to me, so I'm really glad to see that someone still appreciates my opinions even if our rankings are way different! I watch many other ranking videos because I think it's really important to think critically about my favorite media too :)

This is a very old comment but even with the a year ago story it doesn't make sense. Mafuyu is actually able to have emotions she just doesn't know about them enough but music let's her getting closer to uncover and express her true feelings. That's why her songs as OWN shows a certain coldness and rage, but not emptiness 🤓☝
maybe my ears are bad but all of them sounds fine to me 😭😭 IDK
I think it comes down to personal preference lol. Except An in Bring It On, that's just bad lmao.

I honestly feel like nighcord has the best songs, all their songs make me cry and all their songs always show emotion, some people just don't see it, kanade especially shows emotion, mafuyu as well
@jinnie I think all groups have amazing voices and songs, they all deserve recognition, I just love nightcord the most
also with the mafuyu thing in villain, i think its that mafuyu's character is pretty emotionless and that her distress is more of a silent call for help ( maybe its just me bc i like the cover and vocaloid ver bsfuygbfzfgfbgshzghbkj) then simply a scream.
Yeah I think that definitely suits her character, the issue for me is that it doesn't really suit the song. If you listen to the original and most covers it's a much more powerful song, and I think more powerful singing suits it better. I think her voice really suits some of the more 'silent emotion' songs though!
@@idoluv478 well that is true, the original version is more powerful
hmmm, i do think a lot of the game’s covers would sound better without the virtual singers tbh 😭 a lot of the tuning is a major hit or miss for me. also totally agree on villain, i only listen to mizuki’s another vocal cover when playing the song.
Yeah, I don't know why they have so much trouble tuning the vocaloids, I would prefer if they just kept the original tuning for most songs T-T
@@ca_lcium EXACTLY
I'll definitely check that out!
I agree with the Aishite remark
Mafuyu and Ena sound beautiful but it lacks that “descent into madness” feeling-if that’s what you call it.
Yeah, even on RUclips the quality is pretty bad T-T
Yeah, i usually listen to the subbed live vers by JayCy, while the video isn't that great quality either, atleast the sound is good.
But like fr the person that decided to add a guitarrist for cutlery deserves a raise.
I'm happy milk crown on sonnetica get so high :') literally shizuku's vocals in that song is sweet caramel like oof 💯
I agree! I think she really shines in that song :)
Fr, Shizuku >
Yeah and her solo is so good for that song too
If you’ve listened to the akito and toya cover of dramaturgy, I honestly believe they blew ichika out of the water. It’s one of my favorite covers of that song and it’s not even in the game.
Ooohhh I'll definitely give it a listen!
I’m surprised traffic jam made it so high on your list, the sekai covers are really good but I think the alt vocals sound strange, and I would’ve put alter ego over traffic jam but i think it’s just a matter of music taste at that point ww
Im surprised you found chururia ear grating but not dance robot dance bc it’s the opposite for me
I don’t necessarily agree with your number one pick but GIANT agree with Venom! It’s so good! I listen to the cover on Spotify pretty much daily ww
For songs that I switch from the cover to the vs original is: patchwork staccato (i really dislike the sekai version mainly bc i think airi’s vocals were strange), happy synthesiser (idk i just dont like the mmj ver), roki (mainly bc i like to put the guys in Miku’s place so that look and sound more integrated lol, also i think the chorus is mixed weird), and near (i think haruka’s voice is too strong, or that she’s mixed weirdly with miku and minori)
NOT ALL THE WONDERLANDSXSHOWTIME SONGS LMAO WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU 😭 CHURRIRIRA IS AMZAING

first you rank positive dance time second-to-last and then you call viva happy mid??? i’m gonna cancel you >:(((( /j
there’s smth abt super positive vocaloid songs that just really gets me pumped for some reason so i would rank both of those pretty high lmao
Note: This is entirely just my taste.
i know this is like but miy_yuu also has amazing covers if you're looking for more people!

tbh I like An and Toya’s version of Children Record, over the group version 😭 I think its because, since its a powerful song, they both use their voices to their somewhat potential. I just hope they stop doing An dirty in most of the covers.

i love every cover EVERY COVER AND I WILL REPEAT EVERY SONG ON REPEAT
But when you frame a ranking as Project Sekai covers and then base said opinions on external covers people will be right to say "why are they relevant?"
It would be like ranking the characters from into the Spiderverse and putting Peter Parker low on the list because you prefer how Yuri Lowenthal voiced him in a video game. It's your opinion and that's subjective, there's no right or wrong, but it's totally irrelevant to Into The Spiderverse so why bring it up?
These types of videos hurt because I think all of these covers sounded good so that remind me of my shitty music taste 💀... Good raking tho I guess?
No one has shitty music taste lmao. It's fine that you like all of the covers, probably even better! You get to enjoy all the music that comes out, and I think that's really awesome! The whole point of ranking videos is to give opinions, which means that there is no right or wrong lol.
How this is possible to hate positive dance time ?
Jishomushoku isnt meant to be desperate!!! It is literally a song about how someone has given up on life until they realize that one person still needs them. Desperation is not the goal here.
tbh some of the virtual singers sound VERYYY awkward in most pjsk covers. however!! i think my alltime favorites would have to be
WXS:
showtime ruler & more jump more!
showtime ruler is SUCH a good song on its own. when i first heard it i was very blown away by ruis vocals (i still am lol) since he doesn't tend to be a major singer besides in his duo songs or solo covers. also, rin sounds very natural and she blends in very well with nene, emu and tsukasa! also the chorus is literally so banger lol.. anyways its just really good AND not a super long song. (not even 10 seconds past 2 minutes.)
and more jump more.. i just love more more jump idk im pretty biased but i love how energetic it feels? also the charting is pretty fun to play.. but everyone does spam it in co-op LOL so a bit annoying...
The reason why Nightcord covers are all empty is probably all of the members having an endless void in their minds lmao

Your ranking and opinions are pretty fair ngl, I mainly agree with your point in terms of the covers having wonky arrangements at times definitely by a lot

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO PUT DROP POP CANDY 37TH AND LOST ONES WEEPING 58TH.
This is my first time to see a song rank with highly critical reasons, and I'm into this kind of stuff. While I see many people seems to perceive you as one who's too much hating (is this makes sense), I instead think it's interesting to see how people with low rank actually puts reason on each rank. It's usually hard to do that, but you are a brave soul for sharing these thoughts in here
It actually also widen my sight on why some people think these songs are good or bad.
(AbouttobebonkedIalsohaveabignodwhenyoumentionedkuyamushouldbereplacedwithkagirinakuhaiiroasdebutsong)
To end this comment I'd like to say opinions are opinions, it is people's choice to 'fight' or not, and I hope you will learn more perspective from this video, but not to totally change your opinion when you're really into it. Thank you for sharing this kind of content
Edit: I've been not really into Sekai for long, but I agree that Telecaster Big Boy and Milk Crown Sonnetica are one of the best covers
Thank you! This comment means a lot to me! I agree that others' opinions are powerful and help us change a lot, I find myself changing some of my opinions too after hearing more about the song's origins or other interesting facts! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
most of these songs dont actually have any issues, it just depends on your taste of music, so you dont need to be so hard on them
Yep! It is my taste, which is why I really hate some songs and really love others. That being said, I make my opinions a bit more dramatic so the video is more entertaining. If you are watching a ranking video you should expect strong opinions to appear ^-^.
I agree I think people forget there are actual people who put effort behind this song
FULLY AGREE WITH DRAMATURGY. While I never liked the OG version with Miku, I adored Eve's one, and it's extremely difficult to top that.
I agree with you on most kf these tbh, im one of those people who only listens to certains songs for a certain reason, it probably doesn't even have a genre either but i know i like rock/metal that is just sad
how dare you use my garando lyric video to slander it, my favourite sekai cover >:(
SORRY BESTIE
I'm very confused at the amount of people coming here to hate when they literally clicked on a video about someone else's taste T-T.
fellow mizuki enjoyer so true
Mizuki4lifers 👊😔
Villain is a good song
Cuz mafuyu sing with low tune and mizuki with high tune. Perfect combine
And you say mafuyu bad at this cover?
You have bad taste bro
idk if this is a unpopular take but i feel like rui´s voice would rlly suit villain, maybe not with mizuki but i rlly wish we had a rui cover for it
61. touya and an's ver sounded better than them as a whole and it gave me the vibes of jin and maria's ver, so i agree to this.
47. surprised that you didn't complain about how kanade's voice isn't powerful for this song (and even complimented it) especially because almost everyone complains about it, probably because of mafumafu's cover.
43. tsukasa and nene's va sang this on sekai symphony and tsukasa got alot more lines there. i'm not sure if it's on yt though, but yeah i agree with you.
41. i personally didn't like this cover because all the high parts were given to miku. i thought mizuki's solo cover was pretty good.
30. this. i agree with this.
I thought i was weird for crying while listening to hello world- its such a great cover and im glad you agree
I WISH WE GOT A SOLO COVER OF IKANAIDE FROM HONAMI! Her voice would suit it SPLENDIDLY!!!!
2:16 minutes and im totally disagree ironic JWJDJASJS nonsense sounded gooood and i think that are worse and also think that Bring it on is NOT THE WORSE
what do you think of the updated version of bring it on in the sekai album? i think it sounds a lot nicer! :D
Someone else brought that up too, I'm definitely gonna give it a listen!
i didnt expect for everyone to have very different opinions from me so uhh i mean i do understand alot but i dont hate alot of these covers cause ive heard worse and for alot of leo/need covers that are in bandori as afterglow covers, i prefer afterglow's, unless its roki i dont like moca's voice in it (shes one of my favorite characters but i dont like her voice much)
Odd that you dislike thier version of Bring It On, but you're kinda right at the same time because my favourite version of it is Layer and Chu2's version from Bang Dream Girls Band Party as part of thier collab with Rin and Ren, and they do the most epic job they could do with it, so maybe give that one a listen.
I agree with venom being the top tier song!❤
Thanks for this video! It really made me realise how good wondashow's nonsense cover is!
"How can I be different today??"
It’s okay to not like the song in general but, don’t trash talk the voice actors vocals. I know it’s your opinion but most opinions shouldn’t be shared with others
Wait where in the video did they trash talk the VAs? I haven’t watched in a while so maybe I’m misremembering but I didn’t see any trash talk ^^;
its good to share opinions
agree with a lot of these but isnt this supposed to be ranking the covers, like how they covered it..? like some songs at the bottom are there because u didnt like the song not because of the cover.. so like its kinda unfair
Yeah that's true, but with some music since I hate the original so much it's hard to enjoy a cover. I try my best to make it clear at the very least that I don't like the song rather than not liking the cover!
YESS MORE LOVE FOR GHOST CITY TOKYO AND IKANAIDE!! i love both songs and i got so happy when i saw them up there
"It's hard to like it when Eve's version is a lot better in comparison" ayooo bruhh god DAMN this one threw me off guard. i knew we were all thinkin it but you were too honest 😭😭
I had no idea my takes were so revolutionary lmao. I'm just gonna blame it on being neurodivergent and being unable to read social cues 😭
this might be biased but i love every single mmj cover idk i just love their voices in general i adore them as characters and idk i just like the covers
also i agree, the melty land nightmare mmj cover just slayed and my your experience of getting into project sekai thanks to it is very similar with mine, since i am a huuge harumaki gohan fan and someday when i was searching for melty land covers i found the mmj one and immediately got the game after ^^""
one thing is there was no distortion used on hello/how are you???
i checked the same exact yt video *and* project sekai and it was the normal accurate pitch, idk what happened with ur recording but it is not that low /nm
No they were one who distorted Hello/How are you to avoid copyright I believe
Edit: Wait nvm I misread the video 😭
Daoppu Rock is probably one if not the fisrt of my favorite covers, rui sounds awesome and tsukasa vocals for me are just amazing 😭
yeah but lens tuning sucks
len in the og ver is sm better
@@mooniecake len became corpse(he’s still amazing) IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME😺
real though i let out a scream when i saw it so low, and had to remind myself it’s just an opinion lmaoo
i respect your opinions on them but from my opinion, I think I like all the covers, but Bring It On?
I agree with half of them but I definitely disagree on miracle paint it actually sounds so good
7:43 I love Gumi English songs, and Echo is the song that I've first heard from Project Sekai.
''how can i be different today''
FIXER AND CHURURIRA IS AWESOME BRO but i agree chururira was better in the og version. wxs made it sound chaotic and i honestly rlly like it ALSO YESS MILK CROWN SONECHKA APPRECIATION
The sekai covers does has their ups and downs. Like tons of the groups would've had a good cover for some songs, but theres definitely something wrong whenever I listen to it.
I think “Hello, How are You” would suit more other group like MoreMoreJump! Or Wonderland’s x Showtime with Nene and Emu with Miku
I'm very late but you should expect negative response to the video if you go all out with your own negative opinions lol
At least from what I've seen from other ranking videos (for things that are well liked, and in general not just for prosekai songs), people tend to hold back on their... word usage I guess? "Hate" or "bad" are definitely no-no words lol
Most people usually stop at "I don't like" or "not my taste"
also not related to the opinions but please please please please please please please make the text speed like 5 times faster lol
i think the chuchu in dreaming chuchu is cute, but the notes are a bit too high for me
with bitter choco decoration, theres a super good cover but i forgot the name of the person!! on spotify they've covered Bocca Della Verita and its so good; plus, the covers are aways so full of emotion. the cover is kinda purple and grey and the guy himself wears a mask?? someone please tell me the english name TwT
Chogakusei?
*SCREAMS*"
I've heard that it's true that they were recorded separately, that's why it's sound kinda awkward
It makes me sad how Jackpot Sad Girl wasn't in this list. It's one of my favorite Project Sekai songs/covers.
its not a cover song ! its a commissioned song :)
aint no way u put the mizuena venom cover ontop of ALTER EGO..
Maybe I don't get the harshness bc I haven't heard many songs before Project Sekai due to my struggle to listen to songs I've never heard before
The only cover I don't like as much bc of comparing it's Traffic Jam since I compare to Miyashita Yuu's cover 😭 (I was really asking to not enjoy it comparing to Yuu's huh)
what are ur opinions on the new bring it on cover?
I love how high hello world is nobody appreciates it 😔😔
ok,If the chorus on the sekai ver. of Inochi feels busy check the Kanade solo. It's one of the few,if not the only alt vocal they postad in some way, shape or form
it's also the only alt vocal that got full version till now
P late but if you dislike the weaker vocals jiena + akina have made their own covers!
