    Definetely going to get the rift zone 2 next year, going from a 400$ hard tail. Especially with a new model in 2025 coming out

    I am riding my 2005 Giant Reign 2 that I have had since new. Now this Giant is almost like new. I had it custom built, rode for a year and got into MX and put the Giant away. Decided to start riding MTB again a couple years ago and dusted off the Giant. Refrehed it and upgraded a few things and it has been awesome. I love this bike, but keep thinking new technology might be nice and the RIft Zone 2 has my eye.

    Just got the XR. Big break from MTB, this bike is perfect for me to get back into it. Word of advice for potential buyers, if you’re on the cusp of sizes, don’t be afraid of going up a size. I went XL (183cm tall) and I love it! Matches my old cro mo hard tail measurements perfectly but with a longer wheelbase and 29” wheels.
    Love it!

    I got a rift zone 2, 27.5 some time ago, the brakes are complete shit, but get much better with metallic pads, even though the rotors are resin only. Other than that is fantastic. Perfect for my skill level, not too rough, not too smooth.

      Aluminium frames brake from Marin , don't even consider the carbon

    Looks sick. I'm considering getting the 2 and then bringing up the spec to the XR level, simply because I like the color better. I'd also probably throw on some carbon rims, or at least some lighter alloy ones. Those Marin wheels are heavy af

    The Riftzone 2 looks great! Too bad it doesn’t come stock with the red Z2 though!

    The XR looks awesome, and it'd probably be my pick if it was a little more reasonably priced (Marin originally recommended $4K, only for it to then retail for $5K. Up to $4.5K I'd be cool, but not $5K).
    That said, I definitely agree that the RZ2 is the best choice for the most people. I could not have asked for a better combination of 2022 RZ2 and RZ3 specs into one great value model.

    Would replacing the 140mm fork with a 120mm Sid 35mm be a bad decision? Would having more rear travel make sense? or Would 130/130 be better?

    • @bikesonline
      @bikesonline  Год назад

      Reducing the front travel by that amount would likely impact the bottom bracket height negatively.

    Do maron rift zones 1 and 2 moisten similar jumps, roots and the like? what is the difference in the suspension by feel, how much travel does the marin 1 have and how much does the 2 have?

    • @bikesonline
      @bikesonline  Год назад

      They have the same travel figures, the Rift Zone 2 just has better components. With that comes better performance all around.

      Safety hazard ,they brake the frames upper tube after one-year light use.

    Had my eyes on the Alpine Trail for a long time, but when the new Rift Zone was announced I thought the XR could be a good option too. Comparing the Geo/Specs I realized that the RZ looks to be virtually the same bike with 20mm less travel... Am I wrong? How do they compare?

    • @bikesonline
      @bikesonline  Год назад

      The travel differences will dictate changes in characteristics on the trail. RZ will be more spritely and agile, while the AT will gulp down the big features better!
