Hardtail is a nice compliment to a long travel bike, I just found that I didn't like the beating my body took riding the hardtail! Maybe I'm too old lol
I thought about getting a Marin Rift Zone, but ended up Getting a Polygon Siskiu T6 which I am upgrading as I go, since I couldn't get the Rift Zone budget model in my size.
I have the Xr 2023 in a size Lrg. This one is a 130-140, fantastic all around type of machine. The kit that it comes with stock has left nothing to be desired. Have about 8 months on it so far. Only thing that pops in my head to mess with would be to slacken ht angle about 1 degree more.
yeah the 2023 XR is a great bike and arguably better build (if you are a shimano fan like me!) Just throw a 150mm fork on yours and you'll get half a degree slacker head angle!
Yeah when I saw the 2924 had a 150 on the front, I was curious about the difference in geo and ride feel. But I’m with you, I love the shimano kit, both drivetrain and brakes. Absolutely loving the color way on the 2024!
The "new" Alpine Trail that was just released a few days ago? As cool as it is, that bike is just too much bike for me, my current Alpine Trail is almost too much lol. If I lived in BC though... would be a different story!
@@ToogyHowser True, it's option overload with that beast. Pretty amazing how much tuning you can do with it. The option to steepen the head angle is actually quite intriguing though.
Rift zone xr for the win 🥇 and for bike parks hire a demo big bike❤ my son has the alpine trail and I have a yt Jeffsy. He’s 80/20park I’m 80/20 trails
You should get the bike best suited to the majority of your riding. I really don't think a few bike parks a year should change your decision. Especially considering we are talking about 20 mm of suspension difference.
bought that XR a few months now BEST bike ever, I've hit things that i never could before
It really is a confidence inspiring bike!
I have a Rift Zone 2022 29 and have taken it to Bromont here in Quebec with no problems...loving Marin!!
Good to hear! I need to get back to Bromont!
The rift zone gets better snd better every year
It really seems to!
Which is better for general trail riding, the rift zone or the alpine ?
The XR is,a nice trim level.
It is, I'm a Shimano guy, but it's got some nice SRAM components on it.
in Ontario, i have long travel 170/160 and 140 hard tail. took at few years to collect all that CT money! but it was well worth it.

@ToogyHowser you do ride much much more, I can see those bumps adding up!

That Polygon is a great bike from what I've seen!

Ah come on, Toog, don't do this to me...
But I'm looking forward to your review of the new Alpine Trail!

What's that, TB, that's the next bike they are going to hook you up with!??
Fantastic news, thanks, Sponsor!!! 😅
Maybe next year!

The Rift Zone XR is great, still on my radar for next year, not sure it would replace my Alpine Trail or supplement it lol

I agree, but I already have the Alpine Trail! So I'm sticking with that... for this year anyways!
