Bitter, but true. Timid people are glorified by media and society. We see timid people as nice people. We are taught to be obedient without questioning, so that the people in power can control us easily.

Acquiring education used to be a luxury that only the rich could afford just few decades ago. Good thing we have the power of RUclips and internet today to educate ourselves for free.

Rather than avoiding all media, be selective. Read those stories where you can learn something. I read a comment by this channel owner saying that in order to succeed in life fast, don't waste time with fictional media. Just consume non-fiction written by people who have already made it in life. And I have to agree with that assessment. Stories do include some useful information, but it's too much time differentiating the chaff from the wheat. Better consume documentaries and non-fiction books which gets straight to the point.
