Today I will be looking at Andrew Gower's newest MMO Brighter Shores. A game that cannot be described without also mentioning Runescape. This game is in early access so expect features an criticisms to become irrelevant in the future. I may revisit this game if I ever feel the need.

I couldn’t get into RuneScape for some reason but I’m really liking brighter shores so far with about 6 hours in game so far
Remember it is an ALPHA that means almost EVERYTHING is subject to change and improvement. As well as missing features shouldn’t be highlighted too much as a negative.
I think the game has it's niche, and that Andrew is happy with the attention it gets. It never needed to be his next runescape level succes.
It cant possibly be too late since its been out for i dont know.. 3 days. Don't know why everyone is being so critical of a gamee thats been out 3 days. Maybe buzz words for attention, Brighter shores isnt Runescape and never claimed to be, everyone attached that title to it. It doesn't WANT to be OSRS as much as everyone else wanted it to be. The game will thrive, and has a responsive tight knit team that pours PASSION into it, for the sake of passion and nothing else.
This. It’s literally early access. Not even a week old. Granted what he said is technically true but Andrew said he just wanted to get it into a playable state. And he has been pushing out updates every day. Like an insane amount of ideas. But let’s be real, RuneScape players and mmo players in general are mostly man babies without anything going on outside of their online games and complain about everything and anything.
I don’t think this RUclipsr is being a man baby though. I think this was a cohesive video but every content creator just wanted to be in the bandwagon so soon no one is accurately talking about the game. 10 hours isn’t shit for an mmo. And I feel if osrs released today, it would receive the same amount of criticisms
I think most people's issues with this game at the moment isn't small qol things but the massive deep rooted things like the progression.
Granted it has been out for 3 days, but it also has released in 2024.
There's a reason why no new MMOs have taken off - the titans of WOW, RS and Final Fantasy have dominated for the last 2 decades. An MMO is hands down the hardest game to develop for a multitude of reasons. Why would i jump ship after 5k hours playing one, for example.
@ in that case I think people need to realize it’s an early access game. What were they expecting? A finished masterpiece?
Imo the only way andrew is going to keep everyone invested is that act 3 needs to become free. Otherwise it will die.
or just support the dude and pay the like 6 dollars. rofl, think of it as a 6 dollar game you can try for a month, if you don't wanna continue supporting it then cancel! :)
@MagickByte i am paying the money but im saying in terms of longevity that will save the game if it starts to die
This is a grindy single player game that allows you to see other players. OSRS is arguably the same, but runescape captures a sense of adventure and freedom perfectly. There doesnt seem to be a sandbox in this game. it is a linear MSQ that requires you to grind skills to progress. I'm really not feeling it.
The first chapter was genuinely fantastic. Could see the potential all over the shop, especially when you keep in mind it's early access.
The progression mechanics utterly murder it though. Stone dead.
Homies the only person I’ve heard say the music here is bland lol.
Music and sfx are top notch.
Music is indeed incredibly forgettable, there is a lack of purpose in professions other than getting more money/exp
one idea behind professions is that they help interlock the episodes as andrew said. One profession might seem useless now in ep 1 but later in ep 4 you realize that you need to go back to ep 1 to use that profession in some way
