Hi there I’m confused what you’re doing to create those planes with the leaf. I’m using the pencil tool and drawing lines to create planes b it nothing is happening.. I must be doing something wrong
Tried to put a face on my dxf converted imported drawing and can't get it to work. In the video you drew a line from one side to the other and it gave it a face. Mine won't do that....is there a trick? (Newbie to the program)
Yea, this really doesn't work. I even tried a stick figure and no luck. He is clicking on the keyboard like crazy when he draws those lines. All I can see it the pencil (line) tool and eraser highlight.
It works, but when I convert an SVG to DXF and bring it in to Sketchup, it makes it WAY oversized. I pulled in something that was suppose to be 12"w and became 1300" wide once imported? How do you keep the scale? Thanks!
I am trying to import a dwg file in sketchup and it is importing without showing any error but not showing the entire drawing. When I am trying again, it only shows some vertical lines. Why is this happening and how can I solve it ?
sooooooo annoying that DXF import is not a "free" function in the old Sketchup Make. i can't afford hundreds of dollars a year for software. not to mention i get by just fine with the Make version, EXCEPT when it comes to being able to import/export DXF/DWG files on occasion.
I'm not sure what info you're talking about - I seriously doubt you're going to find a free extension that allows you to do this without having to even provide an email address or something to create a username
Is it possible to make a 3d model of your face from a photo?? Trying to do a wall art project of a deceased family member.. Love your channel btw! Thanks bro!
@@dm_noir911 It does not work. Requires the pro version. It really wasn't because I couldn't click with the right mouse button. I tried that about 3 seconds after it wouldn't work.
Based on what exactly (or compared to what software)? There is a free version you can use for general modeling, but I'm curious what you'd be using it for, and what you're comparing it to?
@@Thesketchupessentials based on its software, I should be able to buy a copy of it. Not have to pay $350 a year to "use" it. Not to mention the price keeps going up.. if there's updates, or something new that a newer version offers, then charge for the upgrade. And yeah, the free version is nice, I will say that. But for someone that wants just a few more features than the free version, paying for them in the amount of $350 annually is just wild. It makes me want to learn how to use the blender because it's free and seems way more intricate. I mean, I believe AutoCad is less than SketchUp pro. I design stuff to 3d print, that's the only thing I use it for.
@@Thesketchupessentials giving just a few more features in free version would work as well. Mainly the ability to extrude an svg, or PNG. That's it. TinkerCad is free and you can do it on there.. but SketchUp, the program I tell everyone I use wants $350/year to extrude an SVG.
@@Thesketchupessentials $350 a year just to extrude an SVG, that's a bit much. TinkerCad is free and you can extrude an SVG on there.. it would be cool if the program was $150. Then you bought tools that you need. Because that's basically all I need at the moment. That's why $350/year is wild to me.
Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! :)
My Sketch up teacher is you! Your videos and channels really support me in my Architectural career! Respect you ❤️
I can’t believe this is just even imaginable! In tears of joy (almost) here! You just make my life simpler! Gracias, gracias! ❤️
Would you mind mentioning in the title that this is for Sketchup Pro only, and not the free version?
Good to know before I try it out. Glad I read the comments. Thanks.
3:30 Intersect selection would be my first choice to merge closed shape and surface.
Thank you so much, this didn't occur to me but it helped tremendously!

Wow, this is an awesome and simple process! Thank you for your explanation. Used to manual trim, but this is indeed a magic I needed
You're a lifesaver.

@@mpik1283 sorry my friend i dont now how to do it :(

It's been a year, any new ways? Also, would you be interested in an import tool for sketchup that takes maps, like way points or navionics 3D maps?
What if my sketchyp doesn't support dfx?
Same issue...

Ghhh..WHAAATZ UP GAIIS! love it over years already :D
my SketchUp is saying it doesn't support importing from .dxf files

I can do everything until I have to fill the image. I do the line like you but nothing fill up the empty in the middle of my image.
THANK YOU Justin!
Awesome, very handy! thanks
no file is showing up when I import into sketchup. Whats's the real matter can you tell?

For me Sletchup just crashes when I try to import the converted file?

get cracked version my friend
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Hey Justin, may I ask why my post was deleted? I was just asking for more tutoring regarding 2D to 3D conversion.
No idea - I didn’t delete a comment like this, so maybe a RUclips system issue?
@@Thesketchupessentials Oh ok, may I try to re-post it? Then perhaps you can delete these messages? I'm trying to build a 3D model from two 2D images.
amazing. you saved me so much time. thank you!
Thank you so much it was so helpful.
gracias desconocido! acabas de salvarme la vida

Sketchup doesnt allow dxf import on my 2017 free version any work around? tried some extensions but they all wanted info.

hi justin, can you please describe the room and all the household appliances? can???
Great toturial.. 👍👍
Very useful. Thank you.
Thank you very much
does this work on the free sketch up version
Nope
Hi, can i put a rug png file in an interior of sketchup?
Sure - just import the image and apply it as a texture
THANKS SO MUCH BROTEHR
Please share sketchup setup with license or cracked version please
Thank you!
Convertio does not allow me to save a dxf file properly. Any advice?
Try importing the image into Convertio and then export it as a .DXF. That should work!
no longer possible. Import of any 3D model is behind upgrade.

Scale By Tools from Alex Schreyer, or more simple Raylectron Tools (option "Create a mesh from a picture")
Thanks 🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥🔥
thanks
Great
My SketchUp doesn't support DXF...
hmm might try this in rhino
fist it didnt work. Importing step was important. U have to choose dwg dxf files
It´s worth noting that It does not work for the free version
it didn't work for me
Me either. All of the "it didn't work" comments are ignored too.

so basically not in sketch up. wow thanks! was looking for no sketchy websites
Can i just say, $350 per year is ridiculous. $350 for lifetime, yeah. But $350 per year is a joke
