After watching this video I went to my Toyota dealer and bought the two filters. This is a huge dealership. The parts manager had never heard of these filters and they had never sold any before I bought them. I had to show them where they went. They were amazed. I love it.

For the price of the filters I would replace.
Aging plastic in a hot harsh environment will get brittle over time, and we all tend to forget.
New ones equal total peace of mind for another 100k!

It seems that the vvti filter intended for replacement was bigger than what is actually original. However it’s good that mere cleaning the original filters was still doable. Salute to the good mechanic. 🫡
