Imagine how much easier it would have been with a simple "allow only X rarity items/add-ons" or "no duplicate perks" settings in KYF... 😭It has been painful to see how messy each DBD tournament has been for years now.

I agree, i’ve participated in dbd mobile tournaments in the past and i regret doing so. Just the amount of and restrictions on some were laughable and ridiculous. And i do get that some restrictions are there too get a more enjoyable/fair outcome in some tournaments. but there has too be a good and healthy mix between making them fair and making them just plain messy

Weird one for me was "you can't go back to the hook" like...wut? Are you just supposed to ignore an entire chunk of the map until you get another down? That's like telling survivors they can heal under hook for free. Or basically saying "hey. If you can get hooked near a gen and then rescued, just tell your teammates to hide while you do the gen for free since the killer can't come back there until they get another down."

    • @joshwalton25
      @joshwalton25 2 года назад +199

They should have just made 4 pre-set perk builds with general themes (Runner, Healer, Leader, Savior) and had the survivors pick their "role". Then players don't have to worry about all the perk/item related rules. Do the same thing for killer side but just have 1 decent pre-set build for each killer, and call it a day.
Though judging by what I saw here, idk if everyone being able to run the meta build would have helped much. DH isn't helpful if you're not sure what it does and DS is downright useless if you can't hit a skill check.

"Camping is not allowed" wasn't in the rules they showed at the start of this video, so maybe the girl was just somewhat familiar with dbd and made that rule up, because it's a standard most casual players like to uphold. According to the rules though, tunneling would just give less points, because the point system incentivizes varied hooks, by giving you more points for each different first hook. Also how would you even fairly judge camping/tunneling in a tournament? It's not like there was an impartial judge around to make those calls.

DBD is a competitive game in the sense that it's one side against the other. The longer you play, the better you have to be to win. It however, is not a competitive game in the sense of watching or playing for competitions. It doesn't have the balance or the structure for that. Throwing together a makeshift tournament hurts the game way more than it helps it.

I didn’t even know this was happening. I don’t think I ever want this to happen. DBD is trying so hard to make the game competitive, yet they don’t know how to advertise their own game right. They keep making the worst choices when it comes to this. I guarantee you that everyone watching this tournament that hasn’t played the game will NEVER want to. At this point it’s like they want the game to fail. They already lost most of their player base, this certainly didn’t help with that.

    So:
New Survivors have no idea on what triggers the "explosion" noises and do noisy actions that alert the killer all the time
New Survivors dont know what most status effects do, and cant react accordingly
New Survivors mess up gens ALL THE TIME
New Survivors cant escape from a chase, like never.
    New Killers cant find people
New Killers dont know what their abilities look like to the survivors, so they kinda use them randomly
New Killers dont know how to track survivors and wander around the map endlessly unless they do noisy stuff
New Killers find chases extremely rewarding because they win them most of the time.
New People have no idea on what perks do and there are too many, which is probably overwhelming to them.
So this is BHVR strategy: Make killer extremely easy on the lowest ranks, get people hooked on playing killer making them buy dlcs for new killers and cosmetic stuff, once they reach high ranks they will just start playing surv because playing killer at high ranks is just torture.
This means that there will be many low tier killers, few low tier survs, many high tier survs, few high tier killers.
Ultimately this means that the game can not be effectively balanced because balancing it around high skill players will make it terrible for low skill players and the other way around because of how killer is easy and intuitive to use at low levels while survivor isnt, however the skill ceiling for survivor is much higher, making it way stronger at high tiers of gameplay....
