Drove a lot of these when I worked for a Mercedes dealership in Germany back in the day. Not my favorite Mercedes, but damn these little things actually drove pretty well and were fun in their own way, especially the facelifted models.
This is a great car. It's a Mercedes. I have a 2005 example of this same car, same color. Very reliable I have over 130,000 mi on mine and it is serviced exclusively by Mercedes. No complaints.
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous car! My dad had one - absolutely loved it!! Side note - I’m relieved you dropped the background music as the channel progressed 😅
@@valenchr123 it was a 1 person owner car before I got it, 117,000 miles, I have driven it 4000 miles, it has been great. I did replace the front struts though, as they were making some noises. I also replaced the sunroof motor myself, and it works fabulously! I have been thoroughly enjoying it.
I have a very similar car here in Australia. nearly 18 years old and only 50,000 miles. I really love this car, an absolute bargain. Love the channel BTW :-)
I have the same model in Blue and with 80,000 km or about 50,000 miles. Like new, its a nice smooth ride and if you need some speed, this car wants to go fast. I've owned several makes, VW, Nissan, Honda, but will never drive anything else again.
Sunroof and those bloody shades are weak points, check out all the videos about fixing this model. Shades snap/break and it all has to come out to replace. I have a 2007 C180 with both front and rear shades gone and sunroof non repairable (unless you have $6000 to spend on it and the shades will break again). Total garbage design for that period.
@@ausrace I can attest to this. I have a 2003 c320 coupe and my pan sunroof will open about an inch and thats it. Also the shade doesn't work, I had to Manually close it because the car would turn into an oven in the summer. I didn't even bother getting an estimate because it will inevitably break again
These cars are relatively reliable; I have owned on '02 C Class and an '02 E Class since new. But no Mercedes is as reliable as a Honda or Toyota, sadly, ever.
I think they only put that engine cover on the 2.3L. The 1.8L replaced the 2.3. The 1.8 is a smoother, more efficient engine- but lacked in tune-ability compared to its bigger displacement sibling.
@@antonybarker8841 I know it is an old reply, but how reliable is the 1,8L komoressor engine, compared to the 2,3L? Is it just less reliable or a total disaster?
I think he means the people that love it, really love it a lot. And it's quite true. Since I've had one, I've come out to a parking lot and had people of all ages Doing a walk around, admiring it. Some say they used to have one but they got married and sold it etc... It's like the Volkswagen Sirocco. Unique.
One of the idiosyncrasies of Mercedes nomenclature is that the model number (badge) does not necessarily match the displacement. There are many examples, like the 190 models of the '80s and '90s that were either 2.3 or 2.6L engines. In this case, in fact the engine is a 1.8L, not a 2.3. Apparently this is due to Mercedes' desire to pay homage to past models, in this case 230 models of years past. Confusing, yes, but this is a practice that Mercedes continues to this very day, when 63 models don't have 6.3L engines.
I have an 02 100 and 76000 miles this card does not want to die it's been through everything and still going love it would love to own another one that is in mint condition
