Love that place! We visited (US NAVY, USS EDWARD MCDONELL FF 1043) back in APRIL 1988 , I rode that cable car ride up the mountain, have pictures of our ship moored down below from that spot where the Jesus statue is! This brings back memories!!! 😊😊
Wow, we were on that mountain about 20 yrs. ago. My son and his wife got married in Puerta Plata and our entire wedding party went up the mountain on the cable car( through clouds, I might add) and when we got there on top of the mountain, there were no clouds but there was Jesus! Well, I have to tell you that we had some amazing wedding photos in front of Him. Wow such great memories! Their first child just turned 20! Holy moly! Thanks for sharing your adventure. 👏👏😊
A number of years ago, we did a B2B cruise on the Carnival Victory and on our stop in Grand Cayman, I bought two bottles of rum and they delivered them to our room on the last night of our first leg of our B2B. We enjoyed a bottle on the 2nd leg and I will finish the rest in the near future. Can't wait to get back on a ship.

We went there on a cruise about 10 years ago. Out of our 15 cruises that trip was the best. Such a beautiful place and we got to swim in the waterfalls. Something we will never forget!
Last time I was in the DR, they were just building the Carnival dock. We stayed in the resort next to were Amber cove is now. Also took the cable car up to see the 'Big Jesus".Beautiful country.
Enjoyed your tour! We did a tour but with totally different stops - beautiful gardens, different rum tour, jewelry shop, great lunch stop and a tour of the city.
Carnival changed our itineraries for our trip later this month. Instead of Jamaica and Grand Cayman it will Grand Turk and Amber Cove. Thanks for the info so we can plan, again, for our excursions.

Hey Alison, I also am a cat lover and I have 6 kitties in the house that I took in and more outside that I feed. I bought a big doghouse for the outside ones and filled it with soft blankets for their comfort and in the winter I let them come into my garage. I also had them all fixed and shots. The animal shelter worked with me and gave me low costs. I would do anything to help a defenseless animal. Nice to know that someone else cared for our fury friends. I was thinking about doing a similar tour with Carnival. After seeing your video, I’m definitely doing it. I’m on my first solo cruise, so will stick with Carnival for peace of mind. Your video was perfect timing to enjoy with my first cup of coffee this morning.☺️

Thanks! Yes, it was the same way in the Bahamas with having to wear masks outside unless we were actively eating, drinking, or at a beach or something. Strange, but each local government has their own guidelines for now, I suppose. :P
We have the anytime dining and our pacing has been pretty normal each night, and we had six different wait teams. Hmm. Two hours maybe, which is normal for MDR meals, I’d say.
How did you find this independent excursion? (Last time we did the Waterfalls of Damajaua and had a blast but we usually do walking tours) this excursion is right up our alley. So beautiful there!❤ Dee with the kitty on her lap at the dinner table... made my day!
We usually research a lot on TripAdvisor, Viator, and such places, but then book directly with the vendor. Iguana Mama was a name that came up a LOT for the Dominican Republic!! :D
No, never a resort at Amber Cove. We've been to Ocean World, and we've done an island tour with Iguana Mama, but that's about it other than the few times we stayed at the port and hung out at the pool.
