Edit: Coming back during Season of the Seraph, I was right mostly but got some specific details wrong. The Earth submind was Malahayati, the fragmented Rasputin was still called the Tyrant. So in case Rasputin ever gets his Exo body and people come back to this video for his story, the Tyrant that he's speaking of isn't Rasputin as we've talked to him in Destiny 2. See right before the Collapse Clovis Bray I and the original Ana Bray made several different facilities spread out around the Solar System that would divide Rasputin into fragments or 'subminds' that would enable them to have greater control and manipulate his actions even if it meant acting against the preservation of Humanity, one of these was the submind Charlemagne which managed the defenses around Mars, with the Earth fragment being called the 'Tyrant'. The Rasputin that we interact with in Destiny 1 was the Tyrant, and it was the Tyrant that hunted down and murdered Felwinter along with the Iron Lords. Prior to the mission 'The Last Array' the Tyrant was trapped on Earth and was very hostile to all Guardians, going so far as to murder all of the contact teams sent by the Vanguard. When we activated the Last Array we opened the way for the Tyrant to reconnect to the rest of the Warmind defense systems all across Sol and access the Mindlab back on Mars that enabled Rasputin to finally reemerge and reconnect his broken fragments. It's this revelation that the original Ana Bray helped bring about the Collapse and the near extinction of Humanity that the Darkness uses to manipulate the now Guardian Ana Bray into succumbing to it's power in Elsie's Dark Future.
@@mcstompwaffle no, it was Rasputin, only the “Tyrant” fragmentation version of his sub-minded consciousness, which ordered Siva to destroy the iron lords, of having to “reclaim” back Felwinter during the Dark age. The Ghost of “Rasputin the tyrant” is like another self consciousness, deviation of his original programming. Clovis Bray has got nothing to do with Rasputins sins of the past, not even a touch of malice has mentioned of Clovis once since D2, to Beyond Light.
I have never played this game, but having stumbled across this cutscene I'm finding myself very wrapped up in exploring Rasputin's character and backstory, it is very intriguing.
Why wouldnt people be upset about removing story from a story driven game? What the hell. Lol This comment right here on this video of story you cannot experience or explore is literally proof of that. It wasnt good design, ever.
Wait, Rasputin didn't show us the old safety AI because he was sentimental, he showed us it because he knew he would taken out by the darkness. By showing us the old safety AI, we would know how to bring back Rasputin to defend humanity.
Uhhh, no. This casing served for safety AIs, and it's unlikely it would have enough capacity or processing power to house a warmind. In this mission, apart from rasputin's presence, we don't see any kind of activity suggesting that this casing is not empty. And if I recall, clovis did not use this facility for reconstruction...did he ?
its actually more of a metaphor. the room you enter is modeled after a theater, and on the stage is the safety ai core- a old version of rasputin. the entire area is supposed to represent rasputin being able to "observe himself," truly exhibiting his sentience, and being able to reflect on his past self, as well as show his remorse for killing off his own son in a selfish tirade.
I’ll be honest, if i knew all this was apart of fell winters lie quest at the time i would have done it, but the crucible part made me not do it sadly. Love Rasputin’s voice!!
I dont ever recall a crucible part to the quest just loads of shotgun calibration on mars. It takes you to a pvp map but that's about it, no one to shoot at when you're there.
Yeah many thanks. I main sniper, so I didn't care to do the quest because I assumed it would all be grinding stuff we already did. TIL that I gotta do all quests to get all the storyline.
Wait a minute, he said the Tyrant sent an AI to help him create new stuff I thought that was SIVA. God these fragmented subminds are hard to keep track of.
This isn't a submind, this is apart of Rasputin himself that he put into an exo body to learn and grow as a human would. Check myelins videos on the topic.
THIS ! This was the voice of a Warmind , The voice of Rasputin. That sound design never get old, and after season of seraph , i miss that voice even more, what a sad ending for him.
I feel like when i saw what happened to Rasputin, in my mind i felt like similarly to many Robotic purists felt who were in awe and love with that Rasputin... Highly disappointed and felt like he became generic Exo rather than becoming one with true Warmind body
From what I know, Anna Bray and Clovis Bray made Rasputin in the Golden Age to become a security AI for the Solar System, since humanity found out aliens exist it makes sense to have precautions. Either Anna or Clovis decided to split the Raputin AI into multiple smaller AI's so that they could control it better. This caused Rasputin to be weaker than his whole, so when the collaps happened, Rasputin wasn't able to put up as much of a fight as it could if it was whole. The part of Rasputin that was on Earth turned evil and was called "Tyrant" I think Tyrant just wanted to be left alone and would kill anyone that trespassed in his facilities. Eventually after finding out that his "Son" Fellwinter is chillin with the Iron Lords and so he was like "Hey son, long time. Come home and I'll give you this cool stuff called SIVA that can rebuild humanity back to the Golden age." Killed Fellwinter and most of the Iron Lords. After Tyrant saw itself through the eyes of Fellwinter, It realised how evil it really is, and honestly Tyrant was still a dick until we reconnected it with the rest of the Warminds or smething.
Though his memory now lives on in Rasputin since we recently recovered Felspring, his ghost and uplinked them into Rasputin's network. Felwinter is dead yes, but a part of him now lives with Rasputin.
I cannot stop listening to Rasputin's voice, it's oddly energising. The way the sound designers made him sound is an epic of its own.
It's so satisfying right? Makes me really miss Mars, I adore his voice so much and I can't wait to see what the narrative will bring for him next.
That’s bungie for you
You know what was energetic and satisfying? When he talked in full, unreversed, and most importantly PROPER Russian, like he does in Fallen S.A.B.E.R.
He speaks russian but reversed - desrever like this.
and then they ruined it, giving it a lame ass normal human voice like ugh
"When did Rasputin become so sentimental"
Gee I do wonder where he got it from
This is guardian Ana, she doesn't recall her past memories because she died during the collapse
@@REC-L that was the point, she did that and Rasputin remembered it

So, we fucked ourselves over by mission 5... nice.
It was Clovis Bray the whole time.
He can't keep getting away with it!

No it's Rasputin as felwinter would be his son
“And so the great red god wept, for he had felt what had been nothing but a word to him until he’d tasted its bitter, venomous bite: Regret”
Makes you wonder if Felwinter’s Lie didn’t become such a popular and notorious shotgun, would we have gotten this cool piece of lore?

Finally a depiction of what Felwinter looked like. The best part is everything he has is obtainable in game.

The music that kicks in at 0:37 is so eerie with rasputin speaking.
Without any clutter. Thanks for this!

Luckily the crucible part was pretty easy.

Algorithm blessed this video after 2yrs lol.
But still relevant to the current season
This hits real differently now...
Rasputin killing the Iron Lords is like nuking Apple because you lost your iPhone on the train
This is a whole new level of petty 😂
I'd disagree. A phone is a far cry different from a person who is both your son and...well, a fraction of yourself.

Sounds like the tyrant king is Ivan the terrible in an alternate story.

Even after playing all of the Rasputin stuff up until forsaken I still have zero fucking idea what his backstory is. And I really wish I did.
From what I know, Anna Bray and Clovis Bray made Rasputin in the Golden Age to become a security AI for the Solar System, since humanity found out aliens exist it makes sense to have precautions. If you’ve revisited the game in the last year, we basically learned everything.
it is telling how he is changing his views when he is calling himself the "tyrant"
The thing I've wondered and hope isn't true, is if Felwinter is truly dead.
Felwinter is definitely, objectively, certifiably dead. We killed his puppeted corpse back in Rise of Iron.
Though his memory now lives on in Rasputin since we recently recovered Felspring, his ghost and uplinked them into Rasputin's network.
Felwinter is dead yes, but a part of him now lives with Rasputin.
Who is the robot at 0:52
Sweeper bots uncle

It's just a frame sent by Rasputin to kill felwinter. There were entire army's of them sent infact.
