Finnish/British progressive metal outfit Wheel (‪@wheelband‬ ) are ready to release their third record, "Charismatic Leaders," out on May 3rd, 2024, via InsideOut Music. We chatted with drummer Santeri Saksala and vocalist/guitarist James Lascelles about the release.

I hope they never stop with the longer tracks. James and Co. are so damn good at song structuring, transitioning, and creating punishing and beautiful soundscapes!!

I’m crazy in love with Charismatic Leaders. I’ve been loving pretty much everything these gents have been putting out (including their first 2 EP’s before Walking Backwards). Seeing them in Chicago this Sunday and I’m totally jacked up for it!! LFG!

Oh my goodness the jazzy section in The Freeze is sooooo damn good. And very unexpected. There is so much growth and pleasant surprises on Charismatic Leaders. Another surprise was James’ vocal lines in the chorus of Saboteur “You’re wearing me down…”. I haven’t ever heard him do anything like that delivery before.
