Usually RUclips videos on storyboard are all the same, but these guys were actually able to give some good tips. Glad I clicked on this video.
Why, thank you! When you say most storyboard vids are the same, may we ask what the issue?
We wanna know what to avoid and what kind of info you find useful. 😊
@@aphlearntodrawmanga usually they all explain the basics, going on with simple things and how you should write a script, then the name (or nemu) and things like that. What I really appreciated of this video is how some proper tips were given to write better storyboards, for example I had no idea that is better to have a number of pages that is a multiple of 4, but actually makes sense if you think that most manga artists make 16 pages per week. Overall I enjoyed how this video had the aim to look for more concrete solutions to most amateurs problems, and by knowing these rules a lot of aspiring manga artists will be able to improve their manga.

Agree.
This was the very last video I was gonna click on the subject before just doing trial and error after getting really annoyed with the other ones.
Got lucky.
Edit: I see you asked for some more specific feedback from the other poster, so I'll leave some too.
All the other videos had one of these things that made me vary of filling my brain with any advice they had to give:
Extreme Hypeman "I want to sell you something" intro & language: "HEY WHATS UP YOU GUYS SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON, SUBSCRIBE, HERES A SPONGEBOB MEME AND HERES A LOUD SIREN LETS GO GO GO, BUT DONT FORGET MY PATERON."
This one had simple, clear language and the narrator didn't talk down at me.
Doom Speak: "You MUST do this, THIS is why you FAIL, this is the ONLY WAY TO DO THIS, the way i do storyboards is the ONLY WAY."
This one was encouraging and always underlined that theres no set way and its fine to find your own path, just remember the basics.
Yeah i'm glad i clicked on it too.
One thing that I found useful if you’re a beginner and want to do a long form manga. Is to take each chapter like it’s own short manga because story boarding is a long and complicated process so celebrating the small victories with each chapter can make it more fun
Great advice! We couldn’t agree more. At the end of the day, a manga is basically short stories connected together.
I love this advice, thank you for sharing.
1/bullet points
2/ pannels you want to draw/ exactly know how you want them to look
3/how many pages do you want know before starting storyboard
4/create thumbnails/ story board of story board
5/ good panel flow!!
6/you may use flashbacks are jump into a dramatic scene right in the beginning to catch the readers attention
7/use simple as f art in storyboarding
Great notes!
I feel like one of the things that people don't talk about enough is writing scripts for their manga/comic. Rn, I feel like making a very short comic/manga butI'm stuck at deciding how I want to script it out.
It’s definitely challenging! Have you checked out this video?
We give some tips on scriptwriting and other parts of the planning process:

Great video. As someone who been trying to make manga since 7th grade now 9th. I’ve been really stumped. Throwing away stories. Spending month(s) at a time doing projects only to cancel them. And etc. I never even past the outline/scripting phase. But luckily I think I have a one shot idea that I enjoy since it takes the stories I like and combine them into my own. I’m saying this to say I’m glad I found your channel and thank you for the advice. 🎉
We’re glad to hear you’ve found a story that you feel strongly about!
Nonetheless, we have advice from our PRO Mangaka mentor Nao Yazawa that we’d love to share.
Finish your manga.
Even if you’re not completely happy with it.
Even if you’re tempted to change the storyline halfway through.
You’ll learn a lot just from that experience and you can make your next manga even better.
(Also, work on a short oneshot first so you’re more likely to finish)
This is the reason why I must keep practicing my Anime drawing
live saving video, thank you.
Thanks you very much!
I'm currently on the storyboarding phase for the silent manga audition,
This video was very instructing :D
Sensational tips! straight to the point!
Glad you enjoyed! 🙌
Thank you so much, sensei!
Sure! You’re welcome!
"Don't put too much effort into the Storyboards"
Then there's Megumi Ishitani
Thanks you Soo much, this step is Soo underrated
Exactly!
Really informative and well made creative content! Thank you
Glad you liked it! What were your takeaways?
GOOD INFO THANKSSSSS
phew.. glad that I found this before doing page 6 for my one-shot
Nice Tips!
Glad you like them!
How do I seriously be consistent with drawing faces 😅
Your videos are ever amazing.
Glad you like them!
Finally a new video 🥳
Thanks for patiently waiting! ☺️
This is a great video😄! Thanks as always! I hope that you can make a video about the "Ki-sho-ten-ketsu" because I'm struggling to learn this story structure. Anyways, thanks as always for creating such informative and useful lessons about creating a manga.
What about ki-sho-ten-ketsu that you’re struggling with?
DONT BE TOO MESSY THO
The amount of times im confused on what i drawn 😭
Which is why i started putting notes next to certain panels that i know 100% I'll forget what that part is
Notes definitely help!
I'm planing in participate in some manga contest this year, in I'm in the storyboard part so this video comes like a ring to the finger.
That’s great! Good luck on the contest! 🤞
Glad you found our video at the right time!
W video I hope you one day make a video explaining the mechanics of speech bubbles
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ll keep it in mind.
8:26 what is the template thing used for this? Is it on the clip studio asset store? 😅
Sorry for asking just wondering
I am from ethiopia and i like your video and i doing manga as well
That’s awesome!
Bruh I love this story boarding skill I mostly read and draw cause I learned in school don't just pay attention to writing read it too
Wanna avoid long exposition scenes at all cost but I wanna throw the reader in the mix while adding attention grabbing situations to keep the reader entertained.
Can u pls make a video on how to use traditional manga paper as I just got it. Also pls tell if do we have to cut the bleeding area of the manuscript if I am publishing my manga in manga plus creators. And also how to participate in manga plus creators.
You don’t cut the bleed area yourself. It may get naturally cut off during the printing process so just make sure to draw all the important parts in them.
1:18 what is the name of this anime
I have a question? How to draw a face consistently in any expression and any scenes
Hebe has got immaculate vibes 😌😌
I wonder. Would it be advised for a Western artist to follow the Western left to right reading direction if he or she wants to create a manga?
Can i make short comics before an actual manga??
Just to get some experience?
Sure! We talk more about that here in our latest video:
How to Draw your FIRST Manga with NO Experience | Total Beginner Manga Tutorial
ruclips.net/video/DYc_4jwx7q8/видео.html
Finally gotten a clean step but I'm also wondering if I can do two sketches on the front and back of an A4 paper
Does that process work for you?
Yeah but if I'm careful
Because it make's the paper rough 😅
16 pages. I made a one shot with 50 pages so should I cut it down 😮
50 pages is good depending where you submit it, 16 is usually just the minimum
So, should you make a spread for a webtoon?
Webtoons are slightly different since they’re meant to be read on the phone.
Rather than a spread, you’d have to consider how it’s read vertically.
I wanna thank You Sensei🥲
I made it to my inking but i dont have the right materials and i cant buy anyrhing i am afraid that i may create a manga that no ome will.like because of its art and my story isnt that good should i give up
no you should not give up it ok to feel that way I feel that way all the time but I keep going no matter what even the prowess make mistake's but did they give up no they kept going. so keep going 😁 🥳👏
Now we need tips to how to publish your own manga.😢
I get how you feel. There’s a lot of competition. But if you want your art out there, then you’re gonna find a way. Don’t wait for your “opportunity”, make your own. Post it online, advertise at a convention, print it out and find a place to showcase. You’ll find a way, it’s all a matter of how much you want it. My recommendation is to find a way to sell it without needing to rely on corporate sponsorship. You got this. 👍
I'd rather aim for uhhhhh 19 pages😊
Yoo what if I can't see the end of my manga? Can I still write continue on to the next step?
If you’re a beginner then we suggest you practice something with a beginning, middle and end before taking on something big and complicated.
Have you watched our other videos on how to create your first manga?
We recommend follow the steps here:
ruclips.net/video/S6wHDrzxv8w/видео.htmlsi=TW16bX2VURmoOZl8
@aphlearntodrawmanga so your sayin do a practice one before doin the one I actually wanna do? Very well
Thank you for this ! \(^^)/
Storyboarding is important as it gives you and idea of how the final product should look like. It also gives you the choice to fix those minor mistakes while you can. but if you skip it, lets just say- "GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH" cyz you're already done paneling, inking and then you realise- hey this speech bubble is in the wrong place. hey the backround looks tacky. and all the time, hardwork and effort into that panel goes to waste
Ive been wanting to be a mangaka since i was 9 and ive been watching all of ur videos for tips but is it required to be Japanese to be a mangaka bc ppl say if ur not Japanese its not actually manga
Why does it matter where you’re from? If you have a message and story that you want to share, isn’t that more important?
We highly suggest you watch this video:

Glad that you found our video! We’re really happy this speaks to you.
