    How exciting for you getting a new loom. I bought a baby wolf used 25+ years ago and have never used it!😢

      I get that. It has sat empty for longer than I would prefer. But when I'm on it I just feel a little more like me, you know?

    Ok, I hope what you learn the most as a new mom😊, weaving is your wonderful gift to yourself and your family! Nurturing yourself and then you are able to nurture those around you! Don’t set timer on you or your projects 😢. You absolutely deserve this opportunity to grow and thrive and everyone can enjoy this wonderful journey together. Trust me we all will enjoy the journey together with you❤

    Hello MaryKate . I enjoyed seeing you set up your new loom. So looking forwards to seeing what you weave. I am a beginner weaver but I love the process. Thank you for sharing your lovely video.

    Thank you for this. Post covid, I have a hard time understanding some things. Watching you put it together helps me to put my wolf pup together.

    Very nice loom! I picked up a used 4 shaft Leclerc that I'm trying to finish a project on. There are a lot of videos on RUclips that should help you get reacquainted with a Loom. Looking forward to seeing if you met your Thanksgiving goal. 👍👍👍

    Oh my, I just got my first loom, a tiny 10” Schacht Cricket. Can’t imagine setting up a loom the size you just got. Can’t wait to see you set up the first warp and get to weaving. Amazing.

    Is your beater on backwards the race is in the front not the back like you have it

    • @marykatealsvig
      @marykatealsvig  Месяц назад

      Hahaha yeah, I'm pretty sure it is backwards. I put it on front-facing and it made this obnoxious thumping noise every time I moved it, so i just switched it around. I'm going to take some time to figure out what's going on with that as well as the sticking shafts before I start my next warp. But honestly it works just as well backwards, so I'm not going to stress it.

    If you are moving again did you take a picture of the packing on your loom so you can redo it when you need it?

    • @marykatealsvig
      @marykatealsvig  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! And I kept all the original packaging. I'm definitely nervous to ship it but hopefully if I do it all okay it will make the trip safely.

    Thank you for your video - and congratulations! I bought a second (third?) hand baby wolf and the heddle bar clips look like someone inverted the orientation along the way. The front two clips are oriented such that the gap points to the front and the clips are left of centre, whereas the back two are oriented towards the back and the clips are right of centre - makes for a challenge threading. If you don't mind - when you got your loom from Schacht, were all the heddle bar clips oriented in the same direction? (looks like from the video) Thanks - MJO

    • @marykatealsvig
      @marykatealsvig  8 месяцев назад +1

      If I understand correctly, it sounds like the back two are on upside down and backwards. You can take them off by pulling up and unscrewing the nob on the bottom, then flip them around until they meet your needs better. I typically try to divide the heddles half on each side of center, so you may want to try that as well. The heddles weren't all on when I got the loom but they were sent with proper orientation for easy installment.

      I got mine on the woolery! Various yarn shops will also sell them, I think Webs.com or the Yarn Barn of Kansas

  • @Bumblebee...

    What exactly do you do with a loom im not trying to be rude just curious

    • @marykatealsvig
      @marykatealsvig  9 месяцев назад +2

      Sure! I use mine to weave mostly home decor, like tapestries, table runners, throw pillows. I know some people who make tea towels, scarves, or weave their own cloth yardage for sewing into clothes and accessories. On a practical level.... it's not very practical at all. But it's fun and therapeutic and it can make beautiful fabric for whatever craft you want.
