Yes, Mike you are the right. Elvis' audience was the true Love of his life, we his fans. Thank you for another heartfelt comment on Elvis' outstanding performance
I was serving in Germany when Elvis passed. I had been to his 1974, Bloomington, IN concert, where he looked, and sounded amazing. I was shocked by his death in 1977. Several years later, I listened to a radio special about him. I hadn’t seen the CBS television special, but the radio program played a few of his last live performances, including this one. There seemed to be such passion, and even desperation, to his voice, that I truly felt that he knew the end was near. Thank you for sharing!TCB⚡️
If you want to better understand why Elvis fans love him so much, you should consider watching and reacting to some of the documentary videos about Elvis that show what kind of a person he was. Some examples are Elvis and the Black Community, Elvis A Generous Heart, and 200 Cadillacs. Elvis was the most generous entertainer who gave total strangers cars, paid people's medical bills, hired black background singers when that was frowned upon and treated them like family, bought a house for his housekeeper/cook, gave huge amounts of jewelry to audience members, etc. He was an extremely kind man in addition to being handsome and talented and charismatic. He's loved more for his heart than for his career accomplishments. Discovering more about his character will deepen your appreciation of his performances.
He knew some people took advantage of him but gave to help others anyway whether he knew them or not. His heart was terminally damaged in the natural but the true heart of this human being was always strong and beautiful .❤...we love you Elvis .
This is by far the best live performance by any artist ever. So powerful and so sad at the same time. I'm almost 65 year old man and this video makes me cry every time.
I believe If I Can Dream performance equals this.Greatest entertainer of all time.I saw him in concert twice.I watched the 68 Special and Aloha from Hawaii.I could not believe I was actually watching Elvis, my hero.My excitement could not be contained. He mesmerized me.I remember it like it was yesterday.I adore him so.
His performance in these shows was much better than he got credit for. If he wasn't so unwell everyone would've said amazing. The true fans say it and know it. Everyone else just sees the overweight unwell guy. This shows him as the the true king. Even his back up singers said his voice was still getting stronger, his range got bigger, just maybe the unwellness and meds hindered him. He was the king end of.
He had it until the very end. He was so tired and in so much pain but when someone suggested him cancelling he said these people paid good money and I am going to give them what they came for. His relationship with his fans then and now is so special. Your reaction when he hit that note was amazing. Pavarotti was once asked if he could sing like anybody who would it it be to which he replied Elvis Presley..he can sing like me but I can not sing like him. He was to many this immortal being with a beautiful voice to his fans he was just Elvis..someone who loved his fans as much as we love him. Beautiful reaction.
What a beautiful man he was,he still had his beautiful voice and smile, I cry every time I see him sing any song in this concert, tears rolling down my face watching this reaction, thank you very much for this reaction. 😢❤
I love this song but will admit I always try to avoid seeing this performance. Makes me cry uncontrollably. It's so sad to me. But at the same time, it's so powerful and beautiful. This man was so, so talented and so not appreciated fully in his time. He has a voice that reaches your soul, and you just can't help reacting to it, whether with unbridled joy or overwhelming sorrow. I don't know of another voice that does that to me. Thank you for such a wonderful, thoughtful reaction. Love them.
This had me in tears, Mike. It took me years, and yes I do mean years, to watch this all the way through as I found it much too upsetting. Now, even though I still find it upsetting, I can appreciate how he kept going no matter how ill he was feeling and he left us with these amazing performances to watch. Thank you Elvis, There'll never be another like you 😢❤
It's hard to believe but we can say it now as we've been given the opportunity to see the best. Not just from this performance where Elvis shows why so many call him the G.O.A.T because ultimately, and you can look and look & you'll still be looking, but no singer has ever been able to sing so many marvelous songs, from a myriad of genres, so majestically. So, breaking it down: (1) THE VOICE (2) Then, he had what they call "HAVING IT ALL:" Tall, dark and at his peak perhaps the most handsome bloke to ever live. Combined, too, with being a bit of a music prodigy often playing most instruments by ear, and quite a few I might add. (such as the harmonica and drums which most don't know about) P.S. I know there are naysayers about Elvis' guitar abilities but given that 'guitar player' wasn't really his given job, he was damn good at it when even only fooling around with it a bit. (Example: Goto 'Trying to You 68' Comeback Special Elvis' as there may be a better rock performance than this w/ a vocalist and just his guitar. (3) The ethereal ...As many have no disrespect intended, Elvis has an OUT OF THIS WORLD vibe about him that none of us can explain. It's why people reluctantly talk of Elvis as religion as they are looking for the right words and though surely with no intent to be sacrilegious, they end up where they do. When with some, like myself and young kids, Elvis was the modern day 'Super Man' always saving the damsel in destress; helping the poor; and fighting for Truth, Justice and the American Way!!! (In real life, not just the movies!!!) (4) So, in the end he was the quintennial modern American Man and Dream. Both us and not us. As his values were ours, & though he sat upon his own kingdom, he failed as we do, at times, too representing the rags to riches American Dream, which anyone could see, but at the same time being so much more of a multi-faceted man than the general media wants I admit.
What amazes me every time on this is,… he could hardly speak a sentence,.. but when he sang the song it was almost super human. He knocked it out of the park as only Elvis could in this situation. The greatest!!! The “ King”,… always and forever!!! Grand reaction!!!!!🔥✊✌️
He belted out this song while he was suffering .Elvis was very sick and often felt ill, extremely uncomfortable but he did what he had to do, literally till the very end. Doubtful we will ever see such dedication or talent again. Rest in peace Elvis
This is by far the most phenomenal performance of his lifetime. Understandably very ill weak and yet still try to give it his ultimate all. That’s why there is so much love deserved.
I loved this heartbreaking yet magnificent performance. As sick as he was like you said comparing him to the older Rocky Balboa getting up off the mat to once again reveal his talent and strength of will for us to witness. Thank you Mike for your profound observations and the respect you always give this beautiful...gifted...kind...charismatic..funny...big hearted...amazing...flawed and fragile human being. Bravo Elvis!! Bravo!!!❤❤
Seeing Elvis perform in 1977 always saddens me because his struggle is so obvious. Great reaction again Mike. I particularly like the Rocky Balboa comparison. There is some truth in that although the uphill fight in the boxing movie was fiction and by June 1977 for Elvis was real life. Despite his very bad physical and mental state by June 1977 Elvis still was poured his last energy into songs like My Way, Hurt, How Great Thou Art and Unchained Melody.
Great analysis Mike. One surprising decision, amongst many from people looking after, or having an interest in his career, this song, arguably the stand out performance, was not included in the 'rushed' video released after his passing - unbelievable but why ?
I saw Elvis back in 1976-77 but he didn't do this song. The show in 1977 was barely an hour long but my family and I were still thrilled to see him. His voice got stronger as he got older which seems to be the opposite of what usually happens to singers!
At 42 years of age Elvis should still be in his vocal and physical prime, but as can be seen here he really wasn`t, but he gives everything he has to put forward the best version of himself he can and that is what makes him the man he was, because even at less than 100 percent he is still so far ahead of the next best it`s astounding. Great reaction Mike well done as always.
Everytime I watch this one, I notice how he took that really deep breath/expanded his chest out, to help get that high note out. There were a few shows he did, where he was so unwell, they had to take him, off stage. Unfortunately, Elvis had deep addiction/codependency problems as well as many physical health problems, which contributed to his death at 42. Underneath the addiction/codependency and loneliness issues, he was an intelligent, beautiful, sensitive, funny, humanitarian, with immense pure, raw talent
Amazing. As Elvis walks (stumbles?) to the piano, he is almost incoherent. Yet the moment he starts singing he is transformed. I remember when Elvis died, I was in shock, the last time I saw him was the Aloha concert 4 years earlier. How could that incredibly healthy, young man have died? Then in October, CBS aired this concert and the moment Elvis stepped on stage I was shocked again. As what would have been his 89th birthday approaches, I think he would be happy to know that he is still remembered and loved.
Preach it brother. This was touted as his last performance. It wasn't. His final public appearance/concert, was June 26th, 1977 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. My hometown. Thank you for your brilliant articulation of everything we Elvis fans love about him.
Many people believe he knew he was dying & this was a kind of "farewell." But according to an interview with J.D. Sumner, Elvis was talking about making plans to do a gospel tour. So we may never really know with certainty.
Tears. So painfully hard to watch. A couple of months before his death. I usually won't watch this but did it because of you (I respect your critiques of Elvis). Also, it sounds weird, but by watching, I feel I'm honoring his effort.
Another spot on analysis 😊thank you. This performance gives me goosebumps everytime after watching it goodness knows how many times, he really did give his all to his fans❤
As others have said, this performance by Elvis is a tough one to watch. However when her hear his beautiful voice & you see that beautiful smile at the end, that tells it all💞💓💞
One of the most beautiful and sad performances I've ever seen. Knowing now that he would be dead in less than two months makes it even more so. I think this would be such a hard performance to react to but you have taken all my emotions and put them into words. The appreciation, insight and just "getting it" was great. Thanks for this!
I look at other reactors in Elvis and you are the only one who has used the words of importance, an understanding, you speak of human condition rightly so. In short, you express what many fans no longer seem to see and feel. Thank you very much.
So hard to watch without tears rolling down my face. On so many levels. His voice, so raw and what happens within the next month. 😭😇💔👑 Gone but NEVER forgotten. Beautiful inside and out 💞 TCB ⚡
Just to let you know that this concert was on June 21st. It was his last FILMED concert but not his last. He then went on -- miraculously -- to do another 5 concerts, the last concert being June 26th. This June 21st concert aired, I believe, in October. He was severely ill at this point, with difficulty speaking, in a lot of pain, but managed to sing the hell out of this song. This is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as the theme for a little-known prison film "Unchained" (January 1955). There's a long story about all the goings on until it actually came to be what we know now, but I won't go into that. Thanks much.
Hi Mike, thank you for this very emotional piece of music by the king. Emotinal in two ways. First E1vis voice as usual, second, this is six weeks before he passed away. This is on June 21nd 1977 in Rapid City, the last filmed show. Last concert ever was on June 26th 1977 in Indianapolis. The audio here is from the movie Elvis, the original is without orchestra, just Elvis and the piano, and the audio quality is better. There is another video from the original tape, but overdubbed with orchestra. Look here on youtube, if you will.
Do you want to see the best cover of one of Elvis's best songs? Sensuality, suffering, passion, doom, rebellion, determination, all-consuming love, strength, etc. And you will feel it too, and your soul strings will also vibrate, covering you with goosebumps. Her face, her look... She lives it on stage. Are there many like her? Only a few. A wide voice, giving vibrations in the soul, resonating, enveloping, occupying the entire space, then enveloping like a soft blanket... It is unusual, beautiful and exciting, feel the touch of the highest reality. And this is just about one performance by the young and extremely talented vocalist Diana Ankudinova, whom I advise you to get to know.
One of the most famous hits of the king of rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley in an unrivaled gorgeous, phenomenal performance by Diana Ankudinova ( 18 y.o.) Video title: Can't help falling in love (Stereo) - Diana Ankudinova @ ShowMaskGoOn, Round 1 (Grammy awards) VERY IMORTANT, the video must be original (duration - 8.56m) from Diana's channel (1.54 million subscribers), NOT a short pirated copy from "brocoli" with 13 million views. 18 million views 387k likes 18 thousand comments - total 1462 reactions to this performance by Diana. ❗ATTENTION: Videos from TV shows are often blocked by RUclips and video EDITING is required. I always find these later performances very difficult to watch, knowing how ill he was and imagining the pain he was in. But he laid his soul bare, and his voice is still amazing. I feel that he may have known he wasn't going to make old bones (given the family history of early deaths and illness on his mother's side), and even though I'm not religious there is something especially spiritual about a lot of his last performances. Thanks for another great reaction.
Elvis and Freddy mercury were the same both in immense pain yet singing to the end. Both were very caring, loving and giving to everyone. Both died too young 😓😓😓😓😓🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💞💞💞
@@eddywells5689 But Freddy died much worse, from living life recklessly, dangerously as he said he liked to live..Have you seen his last months of pictures? A walking skeleton. He had AIDS. so much suffering.El is had nine medical conditions. He was born with the medical condition that finally killed him, valsa ar maneuver causing a quick heart attack. His medical conditions caused him much suffefing. He only took prescribed medications to help his conditions. He knew he was going to die young.Modern medi ine may have helped him live a less painful life and maybe lived longer. His medical conditions caused him to have uncontrollable bloating in his last three months. He is the biggest selling artist of all time and still selling millions, sellinv over 40 billion worldwide..His unfathomable beauty, charisma and talent were the reason his music leers called him king.He is the king of music. o
Agree about the religious aspect… he now has been put on that pedestal like Jesus.. who else can have people gather in masses at his home on the anniversary of his death.. nearly 50 yrs have passed and still the fans go to Graceland on masse every August 16.. what other person in the world has that ???
You do such a good job. Check out a few concerts prior to this Elvis It’s now or never ( o sole amino) where he has the opera singer start then Elvis takes over you can hear that as good as the opera singer is, Elvis so much smoother and better, And his comedic side still shows up.
It amazes me how the papers bashed him so much about these last concerts! Then when he passed not too long afterwards, they said all good stuff!! What hippocretes they were!! The Elvis fans didn't care!! We all still loved him then now and forever!! Thank you for your reactions and kindness to him!!!❤❤❤
Thanks for reacting to Elvis' final performance of Unchained Melody, a few weeks before his death. An amazing, operatic rendition by Elvis of this famous song. Once again, Elvis takes a great song to another level with his amazing voice, which only got better and stronger right to the end. 🤌🏼👍🏻👏🏻
Hi Mike, sadly Elvis, as much as he is loved by his fans, was also a bucket list artist. That means that there were a number of people in the audience that came to see the spectacle of Elvis. Many times, as Elvis delivered a slower song/ballad, there would be hollers from these audience members for him to shake it, or they would be yelling for him to do Hound Dog or Jailhouse Rock. You and I, and all the other lovely members of this group appreciate Elvis gave his all but please don’t be fooled into thinking that’s how the whole audience felt. I can only imagine how deep Elvis had to dig to keep going during some shows to deliver for his fans while tuning out the rabble rousers.
I struggle watching this, it’s an amazing performance but he doesn’t look well and to know he passed not long after is hard. But what a huge part of history, his legacy will forever continue ❤
I think this was Elvis’ most vulnerable performance. He included this song a number of times on his last tour ….. maybe almost as a forerunner for the explosive expose book due for release in just a few weeks from this particular performance. I don’t profess to knowing what Elvis might have been thinking as he appears before an audience he has largely shielded from the darker aspects of his personal life. It’s almost like he wanted to bring the guard down a little himself before the guard was ripped away at the hands of others.
This was Filmed on June 21st 1977 and Elvis Passed away on August 16th 1977 about 7 weeks after. I would also recommend reacting to the Live Audio Version of Unchained Melody, on April 24th 1977 in Ann Arbor Michigan, Definitely his Best, it's on his final Album, Moody Blue. 💔💔💔
There's always been an oddly spiritual aspect or element to the Presley phenomenon. Not in "religious" terms, but somehow in the way he connected with people and vice-versa on a level beyond (or somehow outside of) physical reality.
While it's difficult and sad to watch Elvis in this condition, it's a remarkable performance considering his health. You can see the obvious struggle and the compromised breath control and loss of resonance and subtlety in his voice. Miles from his best, but still my man.
This is by far the toughest watch for me. Even though he was very sick, he managed to give one of his most emblematic performances. I truly get emotional, specially when he sings “I neeeeedeeeed your love” - You can feel the despair, I always thought he meant his mother (a loss he probably never got over), but it could be his fans as well. Either way, he needed someone and he sang it. Here is a suggestion for you from the Aloha from Hawaii (1973) concert American Trilogy ruclips.net/video/0FT3SmZ_zx0/видео.htmlsi=aVUY2y4tp-eGOIu4 Per Wikipedia: 1972 song medley arranged by country composer Mickey Newbury and popularized by Elvis, who included it as a showstopper in his concert routines. The medley uses three 19th-century songs: * "Dixie" - a popular folk song about the southern United States. * "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" - a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War;[1] and * "All My Trials" - a Bahamian lullaby related to African American spirituals and widely used by folk music revivalists It’s a song to unite and represent the segments of the American population as one. Thank you for always bringing Elvis to us.
When you see the full start of the clip and Elvis is struggling to talk it's like listening to Joe Biden talk but then picture Joe singing like that. It's incredible that someone who was so sick at that time found it "easier" to sing with such power and feeling than to just talk 👍
I have seen this many times, this was is last concert, he was dying, and very sick, his liver was failing and he was bloated because of the toxins in system. If you read "Destined to Die Young" by Sally Hoedel he was a victim of Alpha 1 disease. His mothers patents were first cousins, which produced a double gene. He took on all the same health problems of his mother and her two brothers that died in their 40's. They all had heart disease, Liver disease, and lung problems. He never talked about his health and didn't want his fans to worry. His hair dresser Larry Geller said he had a mild heart attack in his presence in 1975 and swore Larry to keep it quiet. At his death, he had, had as many as 3 heart attacks, his heart was enlarged. There are 11 systems in the body and 9 of his were blocked. Sally Hoedel said that if he had never taken prescription drugs he would have still died in his 40's. He didn't want to let his fans down. Thanks
@@therewatchproject Um, to the best of my knowledge this is the original vocal from Elvis In Concert, which is also used in part in the Elvis Movie. The only difference from the actual, ‘77 In Concert footage is that someone has-very badly-swapped footage at the end of the song. The original had close-up views of the audience-several different ladies-and a long shot of Elvis at its conclusion, this one has an out of sync close-up view and vocal at the piano. Notice the singing and playing at the end doesn’t match the live playing / vocal. Why this was done, I can’t imagine. Remember, that this is not official footage, the EP estate won’t sanction it. I assume the clip is from another Elvis piano piece from the concert, but I can’t remember where, as I haven’t seen the concert since its broadcast: it’s too bloody sad. Anyway it leads some to believe that Mr P wasn’t playing the piano. He was. A lovely day to all.
Good performance but a younger healthier elvis in the early 60s in Nashville would have been a interesting listen yes elvis was superhuman many levels of Charisma talents and abilities wish he was better managed forever the greatest
You should listen to the one without the orchestra/vocals. These have been dubbed over. In the actual performance it's just EP and him playing the piano.
⚡️⚡️⚡️ Another powerful performance. Rags To Riches live December 31, 1976. ruclips.net/video/0SemIarWczA/видео.htmlsi=oGFEqAjmM8Twd8Yr Amateur video, but the audio is very good.
This video of this performance is cutbup at the beginning. He really is struggling to speak when addressed the audience. The unedited video shows his condition better.
It's one of the best performances by any entertainer-ever. This is why he's called The King

His 90th birthday, January 8, 2025.
@@jennyjorgensen9935 oh, shoot, you are rt. I can't count, LOL.
Preach it brother. This was touted as his last performance. It wasn't.
His final public appearance/concert, was June 26th, 1977 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. My hometown.
Thank you for your brilliant articulation of everything we Elvis fans love about him.
Thank you Rian!
@therewatchproject my pleasure Mike. I really enjoy your reactions!
Me, too! I have a hard time watching this without bawling!
Me too.. But he loved his fans & we love him 💕
Another spot on analysis 😊thank you. This performance gives me goosebumps everytime after watching it goodness knows how many times, he really did give his all to his fans❤
Thank you Suzanne!
Bless him - he always gave his all for his fans 👑💛⭐
As others have said, this performance by Elvis is a tough one to watch. However when her hear his beautiful voice & you see that beautiful smile at the end, that tells it all💞💓💞
One of the most beautiful and sad performances I've ever seen. Knowing now that he would be dead in less than two months makes it even more so. I think this would be such a hard performance to react to but you have taken all my emotions and put them into words. The appreciation, insight and just "getting it" was great. Thanks for this!
Thank you Ellen!
I look at other reactors in Elvis and you are the only one who has used the words of importance, an understanding, you speak of human condition rightly so. In short, you express what many fans no longer seem to see and feel. Thank you very much.
Thank you Caroline, that is so kind
So hard to watch without tears rolling down my face. On so many levels. His voice, so raw and what happens within the next month. 😭😇💔👑
Gone but NEVER forgotten.
Wow what a beautiful sensitive analysis thank you
Thank you too!
Just an awesome Reaction
One of the most famous hits of the king of rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley in an unrivaled gorgeous, phenomenal performance by Diana Ankudinova ( 18 y.o.)

Elvis Elvis Elvis 😢❤
I always find these later performances very difficult to watch, knowing how ill he was and imagining the pain he was in. But he laid his soul bare, and his voice is still amazing. I feel that he may have known he wasn't going to make old bones (given the family history of early deaths and illness on his mother's side), and even though I'm not religious there is something especially spiritual about a lot of his last performances. Thanks for another great reaction.
Thank you Belinda
Eat your heart out Righteous Brothers.
❤️❤️❤️😊
👑✌️
You do such a good job. Check out a few concerts prior to this Elvis It’s now or never ( o sole amino) where he has the opera singer start then Elvis takes over you can hear that as good as the opera singer is, Elvis so much smoother and better, And his comedic side still shows up.
Thanks Rich!
So many tears right now.
It amazes me how the papers bashed him so much about these last concerts! Then when he passed not too long afterwards, they said all good stuff!! What hippocretes they were!! The Elvis fans didn't care!! We all still loved him then now and forever!! Thank you for your reactions and kindness to him!!!❤❤❤
My pleasure Donna!
Thanks for reacting to Elvis' final performance of Unchained Melody, a few weeks before his death. An amazing, operatic rendition by Elvis of this famous song. Once again, Elvis takes a great song to another level with his amazing voice, which only got better and stronger right to the end. 🤌🏼👍🏻👏🏻
❤❤❤
Great way to describe it brother! Thanks buddy.
Thank YOU!
Please look at Young Dreams. From his King Creole movie. One of my favs.
💕💕💔💔💕💕
This was Filmed on June 21st 1977 and Elvis Passed away on August 16th 1977 about 7 weeks after. I would also recommend reacting to the Live Audio Version of Unchained Melody, on April 24th 1977 in Ann Arbor Michigan, Definitely his Best, it's on his final Album, Moody Blue. 💔💔💔
There's always been an oddly spiritual aspect or element to the Presley phenomenon. Not in "religious" terms, but somehow in the way he connected with people and vice-versa on a level beyond (or somehow outside of) physical reality.
Sound is from 2022 movie Elvis btw ,look up th real footage from this
While it's difficult and sad to watch Elvis in this condition, it's a remarkable performance considering his health. You can see the obvious struggle and the compromised breath control and loss of resonance and subtlety in his voice. Miles from his best, but still my man.
Six weeks before his death!
Here is a suggestion for you from the Aloha from Hawaii (1973) concert
American Trilogy

Per Wikipedia:
1972 song medley arranged by country composer Mickey Newbury and popularized by Elvis, who included it as a showstopper in his concert routines. The medley uses three 19th-century songs:
* "Dixie" - a popular folk song about the southern United States.
* "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" - a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War;[1] and
* "All My Trials" - a Bahamian lullaby related to African American spirituals and widely used by folk music revivalists
It’s a song to unite and represent the segments of the American population as one.
Thanks
I love your comment
I would look up the ORIGINAL - This Sound is from the Elvis Movie --- Makes me cry everytime
Thank you, had no idea. Will do!
2:58 waiting to see if you get up out of your chair 😂
If I hadn’t have been wearing shorts…. lol
@ lol throwing your hands up to your face and backing up was just as telling! This performance by Elvis is stunning
In the actual performance it's just EP and him playing the piano.
try ,hurt ,live😢
Very hard to watch this for me......
So difficult to watch. He was very unwell.

Another powerful performance.

Amateur video, but the audio is very good.
This video of this performance is cutbup at the beginning. He really is struggling to speak when addressed the audience. The unedited video shows his condition better.
it hurts so much to see him like this
6 weeks after this performance, Elvis died
