en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asiatic_Lion_Reintroduction_Project. Here is information of reintroduction of the Asiatic lions. At the moment it does not look very good. It is not so simple. The last information from 2015 is: " In a reversal of position, the Ministry of Environment and Forests decided in a meeting in June 2015 against translocation at present on the grounds that it would be detrimental to the breeding and survival of the lions as they lived in social prides. The turn-around of stance has been attributed by environmentalists supporting the translocation to Narendra Modi who had as Chief Minister of Gujarat stated that the lion was the pride of Gujarat and had publicly declared his opposition to the transfer of lions outside the state." So politics come into it.
There is no justification whatsoever for the reversal of the decision to translocate the lions by the Central Government. The Central government and State of Madhya Pradesh have spent huge amounts of money to relocate villagers in Madhya Pradesh to make space for the lions. Further the conditions are suitable for the lions introduction as it part of historic range. The Gujarat Government is indeed by its need to hold the lions within its territory in bid of maintain a hollow reasoning of State pride at deteriment of the Asiatic lions. With all the lions so closely grouped in a confined space, it requires just one more bad Canine Distemper incident to more than half the population. Further it is a direct contradiction of the stand taken by the Central Government itself on which the Supreme Court of India ordered the relocation in the first place. If one looks at the Asiatic lions in the Gir region, they look sick and beleaguered.

That lion makes me laugh
That’s an African lion asiatic lion’s have small manes and a thinner frame
That's true of lions in the wild, but those in zoos in cold climate grow longer manes.
Asiatic lions once found in Greece, anatolia, Mesopotamia, Arabian peninsula, Persia, Caucasus, Indian subcontinent. But now only found in Gujarat ( india).nowadays wild asiatic lions only found in hot climate area.thats why their mane is small.but colder climate asiatic lions ( persian lions) were lived in colder climates. Lions mane become very deep in the cold climate.
#GIRFOREST 😙😙😙😍😍😍
hehe suomenkielestä ja korkeasaaresta ei voi erehtyä:)
Kiva, että eksyit tänne! Käytkö Korkeasaaressa? Asun Oslossa mutta käyn siellä milloin olen Hesassa.
@@ozsfi En ole muutamaan vuoteen käynyt, mutta kyllä joskus pitäisi ehdottomasti käydä katselemassa eläimiä.
My wish is this beauty be my bodyguard
This is an African lion.
No, Asian, see the stomach fold.
Okay. How come it’s so huge and has the large mane?
Bonjour du Canada Never pick a fight with him
ライオンさんは凄い迫力ですね。
最後はワンワンと聞こえた🦁
でも形が可愛いいですね。
Asian lions are smallest but better fighters in lion
That's not an Asiatic lion, it's an Barbaric Lion from Northern Africa and are believed to be extinct in wild due to excessive hunting.
S J - The skin fold on the stomach shows that he is Asiatic.
@@ozsfi Asiatic lions have very less main (facial hair) so I'm pretty sure he's not Asiatic
@@ozsfi 😁😊
@@LoonaVanza That"s lions in the wild, in zoos in cold climate it grows thicker.
@@ozsfi ok that make sense 👍
It's not Asian lion it's a African lion
akhil james - No, it is Asian, cannot you see the skin fold on the stomach.
asiatic lion? Asiatic lions are also found in Gir in Gujarat. They do not have such thick and dark mane.
Debajyoti Nath - Thank you for your comment, but I wonder, do people who watch this video never read other comments? Because then they would find out that Asiatic lions who live in a cold climate, like this male who lived in a zoo in Finland, grow a thicker mane than those who live in Gir. You should also see that he had a skin fold on his stomach, which is one of the signs of an Asiatic lion.
@@ozsfifirst, I said that Asiatic lions of Gujarat do not have thick mains. I am not talking about all species of Asiatic lions found everywhere.
Secondly, sorry but I may or may not read all comments in a video in RUclips.
@@debajyotinath5021 Yes , I have seen what the lions look like in Gujarat. At the moment, we have only two female lions in Korkeasaari. Yes, they are too much to read, but I have tried to explain things in the description.
I think its not a asian lion, who doesn't have bulky dark hair
One day asiatic lions in india be like this
It could be hybrid though...
The four lion I hope the child didn't hurt him he needs to be out in the wild somewhere
I was trying to say the poor lion I hope the child didn't hurt him
No, he could not as they were separated. By the way, he sacrificed himself to populate the world with Asian lions to keep up the numbers. As these animals were all born in the zoos, they have not missed the jungle.
Can Barbary lions and Asiatic lions breed together? Pls reply
It seems it can be done but results are not good. Chhatbir Zoo in Punjab bred around 100 hybrid lions. They were crossed by African lions in travelling circuses. In 2006 it set up a sanctuary for its ageing and ill Asian/African hybrid lions. They had around 30 remaining hybrids, they have physical and mental defects and weakened immune systems. Some have wounds that refuse to heal and others were born paralysed. The breeding programme ended in 2002 and all of the male mixed blood lions in zoos were sterilised to prevent further breeding of hybrids. The remaining hybrids are expected to die out before 2020.
