Just use the option locks your frame rate to 60fps bro, its worth it. I normally run other games at 165hz, but in halo everything just works better at 60 and it still feels like it plays super smooth.
@@dolphingaming6324 For sure brotha. Me personally , I would rather not play a game than to have to play it at 60hz. I'm currently playing halo 2 at over 200fps with zero issues, no screen tearing, lags, or anything. I got the sword fly down too at these refresh rates, just takes more practice. To each his own
as i understand it FPS (the number of frames rendered in a second) is different from 'tickrate' (the number of actions the engine carries out in a second). so you can have a high FPS but the game will work the same since tickrate is still 60
@@andresm.velez1 Ya I don't use the reload key either. You just do the samething except don't hit the reload key. No matter what tho, sword flying is difficult do master since the timing is crazy but practice makes perfect.
That means you were having some lag while doing it because lag gives you a bigger window to left click when sword flying. So if you want it to be easier, cap your frame rate really low.
Ok, my main problem is that when I do the combo, the sword crosshair never turns red. I don't think it's cuz I'm blind though because when I switch weapon, the other crosshair turns back to white before it's holstered. I've been trying this with a sniper zoomed in all the way. Not sure if I'm missing something or if something I'm doing is just wrong.
Let me give you a few tips. First off I play on Xbox so some things might not apply to the PC, but I know a thing or two. 1. Cap your frame rate at 60fps or lower because the lower it is, the more time you have to press fire. You have 2 frames where the sword crosshair is red and it's 2 frames no matter what frame rate your playing on, so the lower the better. it's worth it to cap it low. 2. The actual mechanics of doing it REQUIRE you to press reload because Halo 2 has a glitch where pressing the reload button will skip almost all animations. 3. The window of time where the energy sword crosshair is red for 2 frames happens right after you press the weapon switch button, that's why you press reload so you can swing the sword immediately after. 4. The order is [switch weapon button], [reload button], and [fire weapon button]. If you run at 60 fps, you have exactly 1/30th of a second after you press switch weapon to complete the button combo. And make sure the crosshair of your gun that you switching from is red before you switch to the sword.
@@user-vb8zo6kh4j your frame rate is always 60 fps. You can't change any performance or graphic settings on Xbox so idk if you knew but the mcc on the Xbox one was always capped at 60
This doesnt work in multiplayer correct? Even custom? I was trying to old post patch version of this (back from like 2006) in custom multi. I just remember being taught to spam X Y B all at once then RT repeatedly. This was after the Y X Rt method got patched or atleast attempted to. Anyways, I was getting the sword lunge to happen at a distance, but it was just throwing me up in the air like 1 foot , have the lunge animation, but no flying. So it almost makes me feel like it might be possible. Anybody know??
Yes this only works in campaign as it would be a huge exploit if it were in multiplayer. If you wanted to do it in customs it would work with the original version of Halo 2 for the original xbox
I was thinking about covering this as well. I tried locking it at 60 fps and it wasnt too much of a noticable change, but I might try it at 30 and see if it is easier at all. I would honestly assume less fps gives more time to do it.
It's based on framerate so the lower the easier, H2 Classic was at 30fps but MCC allows uncapped so each frame gets less time. I'd guess if you could lock the game to like 15fps it would become really easy
Set max framerate to 30 FPS with VSYNC triple buffering. That'll make it easier for ya. OR or, do like I did. I opened up my PC case and made one simple tweak. I took out the mobo and inserted my old Xbox----

Personally I like the level in this vid, Quarrantine Zone. This first room at the beginning has a rocket launcher and you start with a sword. Theres also lots of targets around to practice with
Outskirts is nice getting the 'Rex' sword at the beginning of the mission and practicing by the hotel, or get the rocket further up the beach and practice there.
It definitely is super hard, especially as fps is higher. On og Halo 2 it seemed a bit easier. I've been finding it difficult to do consistently for sure
If you haven't already, I would try using the option that locks your FPS to 60. I got used to it in CEA cause of the magnum bloom bug. In my general experience, weird shit just tends to happen more often when you're above 60fps in halo games.
Has anyone successfully made a macro that does this? How many milliseconds between each input? Is it different on 60 FPS vs uncapped? I usually sit in 240 FPS but would happily downgrade to 60 to make it easier.
Hey I have a question, when I try the switch, the crosshair for the sword do not turn red (I recorded it and looked at every frame). I used the Sniper Rifle and I have a feeling that the fly glitch won't work with the sniper or am I wrong?
I think when youre zoomed in with anything its noticeably more difficult to do, at least in my own experience. I did mean to cover this and I do have to explore it more in depth, but I think the time window is either shorter or you have to do something else with the button combo.
Ok. But my macro is a little inconsistent in which it works two out of 3 times every time I do it thrice. But it works well enough. I’ll try to give u my settings by tomorrow. Btw, what is your switch weapon bind, reload bind, and fire bind

Of course! I wasnt sure whether they would make it possible on PC or not. Either way, I'm glad I could help!
They don't patch any classic bugs glitches. The only reason we can't really super bounce is because of higher tick rate/FPS
