I remember this vid like it was yesterday. Think it might've been my first time ever seeing ghost monsters. You got me into learning Doom stuff I never knew before.
Thank you SOOOO much for uploading this. I am currently working on a HRep3 uv max in hopes of one day completing a full HRALL uv max. And so far the other current demos have been pretty useless for finding strategies that are even remotely reliable. But your gameplay here actually accounts for safety which is paramount to movie runs. If I ever complete it I would not have been able to do it without this.
Damn, that's hardcore. Episode 3 has some pretty brutal maps. Good luck.

Wow... That looks and sounds breathtaking. So glad you beat it from pistol, I don't think I'll try any time soon. Anyways, the idea is overall interesting. I find it cool how you used the cyberdemon to kill the arch-viles. I wonder if you can go through those holes in reversed way.

Crazy fucking map. But I have to say, I had one issue with this map. It wasn't the ghost monsters, revenants or chaingunners. It was lost souls and pain elementals. I'd get back to the main area and one would come flying halfway across the map and slow me down or stop me. Then I'd get killed by mancubi or revenants. Or even lost souls if I was looking for health. You killed this map, the rest are a cakewalk in comparison.
I can safely say that I consider Afterlife to be Yonatan Donner and Haggay Niv's magnum opus, it's so beautiful, grandeur, surreal, and otherwordly, that words cannot describe just how spectacular this map is. That said, it's definitely challenging, though I can't say if it's the most difficult level, though that can be the case for pistol start, but in continuous play, is doesn't feel any more difficult than Post Mortem. My approach is get all the monsters to infight while kill a few, hurry to the green building and take out the arch-vile (and hopefully one or two mancubi) with the BFG, then kill the mancubi with the plasma gun. Speaking of which, on HMP and lower, you get the plasma gun and cell ammo, so the level's a bit more manageable, though still formidable, and less time consuming.
When you get out, if there are no enemies blocking your exit, you can step on the platform with the backpack to wake up the two cyberdemons, and try to lure them out, which is pretty tricky because you have all the mancubi firing at you every which way, including the arachnotrons, cacodemons and pain elementals, and the flying enemies tend to block your way which makes them the most annoying so you may want to take them out first and quickly, then the arachnotrons. Have the cyberdemons infight with the mancubi, and you can BFG them while their occupied. With the marble area where you hit all the switches, I make a mad dash for the Baphomet face to lower the teleporter without making a sound so I can telefrag the arch-vile on the platform with the switch and I let the enemies live as even though they'll kill each other, the arch-viles that spawn in will resurrect them, and they come in pretty useful for when you hit the final switch that spawns the cyberdemon as he will hit them and they'll all attack them, making him weak enough to kill without wasting so much ammo.
And for the blue area, thankfully, there's only an arch-vile instead of the cyberdemon, so I take the elevator and BFG the arch-vile so I can ride to the upper floor and deal with the monsters there while the spiderdemon is busy with everyone else, and then when they're all dead, I take the mega armor, heal as much as I can with the medikits provided and take the soul sphere for the dark area, where after killing all the imps, shotgunners and barons, I hit the first switch, which actually reveals the arch-viles and revenants, so with the BFG, I kill the arch-viles as quickly as possible, and hit the switch to awaken the cyberdemon so he can attack the revenants. Most them will infight him, and with one BFG blast while the cyberdemon's distracted, he'll be down in no time, and I finally kill the remaining skeletons before reaching the end. I collect the remaining ammo, including the now accessible rockets and then the megasphere, and since on my playthrough the ghost enemies appear, I do it all fast so I can exit with 200% health and armor intact.
Very creative and imaginative level, though I find it rather misplaced as it should have been on Map29. Really good yet difficult map, and one of the very best of Hell Revealed. They creators really went all out with this map.
Why is this not marked "you're dead" difficulty is beyond me. I rate it harder than post mortem for the following reasons. First, there is no bfg or plasmagun (on UV) which makes it very tedious to kill large groups of enemies. Even the rocket launcher requires an av boost if you want to get ot early. Secondly, enemy placements, ghost enemies etc give you more nightmares than having more cybers and archies. One of the few levels I could not beat on HR. Great to see your run.

Using the SSG almost the entire map is the DooM equivalent of plowing a field.

The four revanants at the very end were at the platform with the launcher. You ignored them after the second cyber demon killed the archviles there. They were not in the death count as they have been resurrected already.
I find this map a bit tedious, as the SSG is slow and there is ammo only for it. (mostly).

Chris Jericho has been wrestling for over 30 years since i was a toddler and by the time he retires i will be 33 years old my mom will be 56 my halfsister will be 19 her father will be 63 and my grandmother who died 18plus years ago will be 82 years old. For those of you who dont know who chris jericho is he is a.k.a y2j and i complained to someone at my house that y2j is not retiring and a bony light skinned black woman started to infantilize me calling me a little boy. So i yelled to the woman dont call me a little boy! So i pushed her into the medicine cabinet three times got sent into the hospital overnight got sent home the next day and started dealing with extrapyramidal side effects a.k.a. eyes rolling upwards just because my exmanager got me sent to the hospital for slandering one of his female stuff for two reasons 1. She was telling me things i didnt wanna hear 2. She wasn't helping me get what i want.
I am livid right now. I will never watch doom or wolfenstein ever again for all eternity and if nobody likes it: tough.

It's a very pretty map and it looks like it would be _awesome_ for Deathmatch, but honestly, it just looks like a slog. That seems to be what the "final episode" of this pack is, in fact…

@@decino Just start with map 1.The levels rnt very large,most of them.Y really owe yrself to at least play the first episode.There is a sense of progression with a light narrative.Im sure y will find something y like in it.When i played it,there was something wrong with it(i only played a test version) and couldnt get past map 8.Im going to play through he whole thing when i get time.

The Ghost monsters is a cool idea, but I'm not a fan of mapdesign relying on coding bugs.
What is if Id Software themself wouldve fixed the bug in a patch? Then the map (idea) is broken.
Considering the releasedate gap between doom 2, final doom and HR it totally couldve still come out another patch by id.
It adds variety to Doom's enemy roster in a creative way. Even though they're not fun to fight.
