- So, this is not the kind of edits I usally make. But season 2 of Good Omens happened... and well it felt a lot like fanfiction. I loved it.

I mean the actual good omens book itself is a fanfic (canon compliant) to the bible so..
I highly suggest The Magic Trick You Didn't See theory about season 2~ It' exactly goes "this is all like a fanfic - why?? because THISSS" Very interesting.

5:31 after aziraphale says "Castilian balls" you can hear crowley say a small "oh" in the background and that somehow makes me unbearably happy

This was recurring thought as I watched S2! Neil Gaiman woke up, chose fanfiction as a setting, and just went to town! LOL! It was amazing!

yknow now that i think about it, this being organised in this way, makes it seems like theres a way to interpret this season as an intentional commentary on fanfiction. on like meta narratives and stuff. like fandoms generally. theres literally a pride and prejudice au. and a coffee shop. and characters shipping/trying to create scenarios for other characters to get together. something something forced to do stuff something something the kiss wasn't about love something something free will something something heaven and hell demanding things be how they are smth smth
The matchmaking is more like _Emma,_ but that, interestingly, goes unmentioned.
Not to forget "surrender the angle". The whole misspelling part could also be a commentary on Fanfics 😂
I'm gonna be so brazen as to point you in the direction I did another commenter, The Magic Trick You Didn't See theory on Season 2. It speculates on why it might be season 2 is such a fanfic trope fest. I should just make this a comment on the actual video 😅
@@DiaArtCreativity I've seen so many people on Tumblr writing "angle" for "angel" lately that I feel like they're either making a show reference or Tumblr has been infested by demons (either of which could make sense, I suppose--also, typos).
@@Reicha I read that from the link on the author's (fantasy writer Alexandra Rowland) Tumblr. It was very interesting. I've seen people who relate to Maggie and are autistic or have come from religious backgrounds they left because of being gay (and I don't not relate to Maggie, if maybe for different reasons--double negative on purpose) have said the Maggie-related theorizing is a problem. It was an interesting theory overall; I have thoughts about it. Worth a read.

Watched "Tolkien" today and shouted at "metatron" when he showed up. Dude will always be them from now on. He's not a villain in Tolkien, but he is. He very much is.
I usually am pretty good at keeping actors separate from their roles, but maybe it's just too fresh yet. Similar to Umbridge. Ms. Staunton is a fantastic actress, but it took a bit to shake it.
@emilyray9438 Oh absolutely, he's become the same type of character as Umbridge, a villainous role that is so convincing that it's hard to seperate them from the actor
Derek Jacobi also played the Master on Doctor Who- it was only for a few minutes on the show before he regenerated into John Simm, but he‘d previously done an audiobook or something.

Honestly I read so many Good Omes fanfiction on ao3 and recognized so many scenes and dialoues?? They read all the fanfics I swear
GO S2 proves what Michael Sheen says about fanfiction- and what we've been trying to say about fanfiction this whole time: fanfiction is a beautiful expression of love and art ☺️😊
It really is! I've read so many good fanfics. It's a genre on its own and people who hate on it, just lack imagination.

My bestie the usage of tags is varied and unknowable. I've been using ao3 for years and to this very day I still find tags I've never seen nor thought existed. I remember the day I learned that "accidental baby acquisition" is a popular tag 😂😂😂😂

Oh, yeah, there were some things I didn't include. For example the whole 40s flashback or Aziraphale driving the Bentley or the Bentley having it's own mind😀 But I didn't want this to get too long. If this video does good maybe I'll do a part two 🙂 Thank you for your comment!

@@tymondabrowski12 just wanted to show that he has as much similarities to him. I think there are 3 more Archangels that never got any names. So maybe he was one of them. And personally, I'd prefer that idea, as it'd make him kind of special.
I would love if they never revealed Crowley's angel name.

That's been my dread for a while. That Gaiman solves the whole Angel and Demon getting together quandry by making mortal. And after all those millennia wasted when they could've been together, they only get a handful of decades as mortals before it's over.
@@emmahealy4863I disagree. As mortals they would only have a few decades together before death. And if they were given immortal life, after death they are going to *different* places -Az to heaven, Cowley to hell. Forever.

That would be pretty sad. For two immortal beings to be turned into humans (with the lifespan of only a few decades) would be the same as outright execution. And after their human lives come to an end, their souls would go to different places (Crowley to Hell, Aziraphale to Heaven) and they would never see each other again, for the rest of eternity. Sounds like a very cruel punishment to me. And Good Omens is supposed to be a comedy...
If God would decide to be creative and fun with the punishment for their meddling in her affairs, I think she would put Aziraphale and Crowley in charge of the Earth. "If you like Earth so much and believe you can do better than me, you can have it, now you're the ones who are responsible, good luck." That's if she views their meddling as worthy of punishment, which may not necessarily be the case.
