@@fart433 true archons are what really determines genshin revenue at least imo I also am still happy genshin is still doing good despite the flaws it has after almost three years
Same here, but I think Hoyo has solid business sense in NOT having Kafka and Furina compete in the same time frame so fans of both have the opportunity to spend on both. And obviously they've put up great numbers, and the people who claimed her banner would flop bc everyone is saving for her obviously didn't happen. Comparing Kafka's sales with someone like the newest Archon would be a better, but we also still only have 1 featured character at a time, unlike genshin. Still interesting to see how the sales are going tho
In regards to FGO's sales: the summer Banner combined with anniversary event makes it some of the highest earning months. They release multiple characters that are meta changing and then also bring in summer event banners. So it's got both the Meta Slaves and the Coomers pulling. Even the casual players spend some money during this time because they put up banners with a Guaranteed 5 Star Servant which you need to use paid currency to pull on.
I will add to this, not only what is said above makes August FGO’s highest earning month, but also this was the year of LB6 Summer in JP, now for context LB6(Lostbelt 6) is one of the greatest story chapters in the game’s eight year history and is consistently requested to have an anime adaptation on surveys. So imagine finally after years of waiting those characters finally getting the swimsuit treatment as playable characters and skins for males.
It's all because the CN has way more strict censorship laws on Honkai Star Rail and Genshin under their country's law. Meanwhile in JPN with FGO on the otherhand, they can pretty much do anything with the fanservice without any censorship due to how Japan's law operates differently than China on their gacha games. If Genshin was developed by Hoyoverse born in Japan instead of in China in the first place, that honestly could've made beyond billions in another reality. Just saying.
@@walteranurantha5014 Copium lmao If Genshin was made in Japan it'd probably be made by Bandai Namco and you wouldn't be having a casual game with a forgiving gacha system It would've been bad as Uma Musume to keep up the cost of developing 3d grass Artifact stats wouldn't be the only thing you'd be rolling for I'm afraid
@@walteranurantha5014 It's not just the fanservice element. I'll be real. The Genshin team essentially said "Genshin is for story only, no endgame, no combat adjustments, if the game is broke, we won't fix it." Here's the thing. When it comes to story, FGO just wins (hell, Hoyoverse takes a ton from Fate in the first place), and if Genshin's combat doesn't get developed more, disgruntled players aren't going to see Genshin in a better light than FGO. Genshin's combat is why a lot of FGO players switched to it (a lot of Genshin creators originally played FGO), and now Genshin's combat to many is off the table. Oh, and FGO buffs characters.
@@walteranurantha5014 Let's face it, Hoyoverse steals a lot of things from other games or stories, if it were any other country than China they'd be already be fucked over from plagiarism
Fontaine actually really fun i just loved everything about it and with ZERO expectations. i just explored the map for the first 3 days without doing archon quest already had a blast and then the cherry on top with the quest. Banners are terrible plain and simple

Agree, the fontaine and its quests were a boost to genshin after its recent dead patches. If they paired it with a good banner it would've let players stay a little longer till the next patches (like fueling the fire). All in all fontaine was beautiful and its quests were interesting, but after finishing those it feels kinda dead again ngl :< rn just waiting on neuvi and doing dailies like its a requirement for my everyday life cuz of the primos and somehow it just feels like a chore rn for genshin @_@
@@joustingknight2088 "and powercreeping is necessary for a gacha games livelyhood" You realize that ganyu and hutao came out almost 3 years ago ? There were a few decent characters here and there but most of the characters that are coming out are underperforming compared to the characters that came out on release and early patches. Genshin literally has no difficult content, you can literally beat the entire game with Amber if you have the artifacts and a team built around her. Most overworld enemies die in 1-2 shots anyways if you have your characters built.
can't wait for all the drama when ZZZ will be released ,guys will be like "We are sick of these Genshin and Star rail stans" fandom wars will never end
I'm AR level 60 in genshin and I think I deserved a ten pull every level after 55. It took like 3 or 4 months to get from 59 to 60. I don't think I'm asking for too much to be honest.
That's what he meant by them being stingy, they don't reward for the effort. its like some achivements can take months to get, and you get 10-20 whole primogems for them. after AR 55 i completely stopped caring about rank, and sometimes don't even do dailies unless they are quick.
when people say that the reason why HSR gets a ten pull every patch is to make up for the lack of exploration that genshin has, I always say the same thing: I'd rather do Sim Uni 3 times a week for 225 jades than explore all of Fontaine for 200 primos lmao
but why HSR is losing player tho , -4mil in jul;y ,-3.6mil in august and current month already -1mil .HSR is losing players ,thats why they are generous 😂
While I think Genshin's banner sales will improve once Furina drops, it's interesting to see Star Rail surpass it with its heavy emphasis on combat. I thought fans always claimed they didn't care about endgame/combat updates
I love Genshin and I still am, Star rail is also a great game that make me feeling refresh while playing Hoyoverse games instead of getting over-exhausting the game. It's not that I making a comparation and being bias between playing Genshin for 3 years and experiencing new content and story telling in Star rail. I like both of the games and I play them every morning before anything else. From what I see it, I think this could be a "Wake up call" for Genshin Team to step with their game. Since both Star rail and Genshin are from the same company but in the different Team developer.
I don't understand how the revenue system works, but I would think it makes sense that a new region drop doesn't mean that there would be a huge boost in sales. You don't spend money on a region, you're only spending to get characters or weapons. Fontaine is fun and the archon quest is probably the best Genshin has done (imo), but Lyney (someone no one really wants) and Yelan (someone most people already have because she's had a few banners at this point), then a repeat of the 1.1 banners all won't make people who have 3 versions worth of a roster pull for them. Especially when chars like Wriothesley, Neuvillette, Focalors, Navia, etc are coming later. Whereas in Star Rail there was Blade, Kafka, and Dan Heng IL, all amazingly strong and likeable characters. So it makes sense that Star Rail made more despite Fontaine dropping.
Feel like it is the fact that many people play the game again after a new region release, so whenever a region gets released many people who quit before would come back to check out the new region and so more people would spend money again if they want to get the character. And of course the character on banner would have more control over the money the game makes, but a new region being released those boost the money the game would make
@notreallucassdistros5926 Banners drive 95% of sales for the game. I get that a lot of people for instance left the game because of Dehya and came back for Fontaine as a new region to experience (my best friend being one of those people), but again, you're not spending money to unlock the region or any of the content that's in it. You're only spending money on banners, whether it's character or less notably the weapon one. With that said, so far we have Lyney and Yelan, one no one wants because future characters are more promising and interesting, and one returning players would likely already have considering she's had 2 now 3 banners. Even if people do want Lyney, we've had pretty bad banners since Dehya and on leading up to Fontaine, so most people, myself included, have plenty wishes saved up to where we don't need to spend money. I have almost 200 wishes saved for both banners in 4.1 with room for more given we have the rest of 4.0 and all of 4.1. It's like how people think Kafka's sales are low. I don't think they are; she's the most popular character of Star Rail. Most people who wanted her loyally skipped every banner leading to her release so they didn't have to spend any money to get her and her light cone.
I honestly didnt play 3.7 and 3.8 mainly because I was left really with a sour taste after what they did to Dehya, I have been enjoying Fontaine but havent pulled cause there isn't a single character I'm interested right now, if it was Furina, Clorinde or Navia that would likely be different but until then no pulling from me.
The reason why genshin impact fontaine update had lower sales is really simple. Its characters. A new map is free same in Star Rail. In my case for genshin I had no intrest in the 5 star and the 4 star was free from the get go so why pull. Star Rail on the other hand had a 5 star waifu and husbando. Thats hard to beat. For gachas, character is where the money is at. New areas dont mean anything but a means to sale them
Ya...granted the 5*s chosen for 4.0 make sense story wise though given Lyney and Childe take a major role in this patch's main story...granted Zhongli's likely there just to have an archon release/re-run for him once every 5 months or so. Lyney/Lynette likely won't have much to do with the remainder of Fontaine's main story while Furina/Neuvialette/Chorlinde/Navia will so having them release now and putting them aside until a limited time even that features them 9 months or so from now somewhat makes sense...granted Navia easily could've been an option as well given how big of a role she plays in 4.0 (may have been better to choose her over Zhongli for the 2nd half and had the 2 banners be: Lyney and Zhongli for the first half of the patch and then Childe/Navia for the 2nd half...I assume they didn't due to just not having the mechanics they want for her done or, hopefully, a new re-work for Geo as a whole to give it some offensive capabilities with reactions. While I get that Yelan probably needed a re-run the banners I mentioned likely would've been more successful...hell most of 4.0's cash will likely be made now with Zhongli's banner for those that skipped him/new players that want the archons...Childe also has a good chance of getting a fair amount due to his own unique mechanics (range or close range via his e skill)). While they did play a large role in 4.0's story i feel like it wasn't large enough for Furina or Neuvilette's release just yet...Navia not being chosen even though her involvement in the main story feels wrapped up is likely due to them needing to tweak things to make her play the way they want...unless they have something else that she'll get involved with later on in the main story (I guess kinda like how Dehya was pretty prevalent in Sumeru's main quest but took untilt he later half of the 3.0 series of updates to release...hopefully Navia won't be given the same treatment gameplay wise (granted...given she's Geo she's already got a huge disadvantage unless they give her a really unique mechanic/rebalance Geo as a whole).
Exactly what I thought when he said: a whole region vs some characters. Yeah, of course the better characters will generate more revenue than the free region.
"the Genshin community is a bunch of coomers" WHY DO YOU THINK HSR WAS SO HIGH??? Everyone (including me) was simping for Kafka and Blade. Also, FGO on top babyyyy
Despite being an 8 yr old game, FGO is still a titan in the gacha game industry. It can pretty much become no. 1 whenever it wants and being someone who just recently came back from japan from their latest FGO festival, I can say that it's one of Japan's biggest games.
Honkais popularity doesn't touch genshins. the biggest takeaway i see is, genshins money comes from sheer volume, while honkai generates more per player since they actually give the people what they want and are more willing to spend more, also newer game.
It really bugs me how Tectone mentions things and misunderstands the context of why shit occurred. We already know we get region expansions and story continuation in genshin till .5 or .6. Same with the Bunny suit suitatuon. It wasn't the lewding but the fact that 1 region was getting something the other wasnt. It really detracts from his valid points when he fucks up or misunderstands/portrays things in incorrect ways.
His fans just eat all that up no questions asked its so funny. Sumeru got areas up to 6 patches and another temporary one in 3.8. Oh well its tectone. Thats what he does.
Reading Teccy's chat and as someone who started playing FGO a year ago I will agree the game is pretty bad till the 6th Singularity (6th story chapter) with Tutorial not being updated from release. But the story rumps up from there to being good, sometimes really good and actually hard. Actually the only Gacha that made me really like some characters and want to spend money on premium currency packs. Most new player won't be bothered to actually get there though if not interested in fate/really want to get into the game. It's kinda hard to get into now but it can pull you DEEP. Or maybe I'm just a coomer.
FGO is fantastic. Teccy doesn't get it. Rates are terrible but they've added pity now and they give out a lot of free shit. With the JP foresight you can also save a ton for the meta units.
@@karambabadio4688 Yeah, saving is the core of getting who you want. And funnily enough, the rates are better than in Genshin. It's just that the pity is much worse. The only upside I see to that is you still get the dopamine when you pull the unit you want. Not "oh yeah I'm at pity now and lost the 50/50 last time so I get the unit now". But it hurts much more when you do get to pity in FGO. I've been there.
miHoYo is simply balancing their sales, they had release Herrscher of Rebirth before Kafka and Furina after Kafka to not force them all at the same time.
i feel like hoyoverse players deserve more, even if we dont touch on primogem/stellar jades, a company that earns 100 million a month is absolutely capable of releasing a proper update with new quests every month.
I think the crux is quality? While they definitely can make a plethora of world missions, the quality of a companion or Trailblaze Mission would require at least 1.5 months (unless we remove cinematics/animations, then it's shorter).
Dev team difference Honkai as always been the passion project. Genshin Is literally the cash grab game it’s making Hoyoverse money and using that money for Honkai impact and Honkai Star rail. Genshin isn’t going anywhere or getting better 😂

Nikke just did a Nier Automata Collab introducing 2B & A2 into the game I can see that helping them move up in the rankings, that company seems to know what they are doing. With September basically being rerun characters (Zhongli, Childe) I get the sense that Genshin will probably slip down in the rankings. There's honestly no character worth pulling for until at least next year (Cloud Retainer) the Fontaine chars don't seem any better than previous 5 star versions.
well neuvilette is going to be pretty strong, i just hope new characters don't end up like sumeru desert characters, which honestly were trash (the only very good additions from sumeru are nahida and nilou if you have the right characters, the others were just not ment to be pulled)

The Genshin community is the only one i've ever seen where most of their fan base likes getting shit in their mouth and being thankful for it. I've never met a community where asking for QOL or more monthly income is met with so much push back. It's absolutely insane.
Hsr has a more mature audience. More mature audience = more people independent of their money, to spend. And I love it, this game should be the more mature one, where it’s simple, we have issue with this problem, they fix it. Our community? Not toxic. Let it just say like this
As a person who enjoys both Genshin and HSR, I can definitely vouch that Genshin indeed has the most obsessive and over sensitive fan base. While I do love genshin for itself but the immaturity in the genshin fanbase is worrisome.
Yes I also had that feeling eversince the honeymoon phase was over and all the Genshin-only players left. The HSR Community feels more mature than Genshin's Community.
I’m an FGO player and I know that every summer, their sales skyrocket and that’s because they do a summer event every year and release new summer versions of servants and Teccy is right, if Hoyoverse did a summer event with swimsuits for some of the characters like the ones he mentioned or Dehya or Shenhe, they would make more money than FGO would, instead, we got a modest summer outfit for Jean and a sailor outfit for Barbara
I played Genshin because of its fun combat and coop. I started playing in 1.3 when the pandemic was at its peak and it was the only game I could play with my friends. I kept playing in hopes of updates for new permanent coop content, replayable farming that isn't resin-gated just so that I have a reason to continue playing genshin with friends, and endgame content other than spiral abyss. I have been able finish floor 12 for almost a year, and I started to build multiple characters for fun. I have lost the need to pull for characters. I have lost the desire to farm artifacts. Ever since Genshin announced no endgame content, the game wasn't enjoyable anymore. The story has its moments, but they rely so much on info dumps and wall of texts to give info about things that you don't really care about. After playing for 2 years, I've decided that Genshin is designed to be a casual singleplayer story-driven action rpg game. It's an incomplete game that you're only supposed to play for the lore and story. And that's why nothing appeals to me in Genshin anymore. I will only play Genshin again once the story has reached its conclusion. Pulling for characters is pointless. Building your characters is pointless. The only content is exploration and Archon quests. Genshin shouldn't have been a gacha game. With the way Hoyoverse is developing Genshin, it should have been released as a full game. If you're gonna play a game just for its story, the story must be complete. People seem to hate the idea that Genshin could've been so much better, but it really could've been so much more than just this.
I do agree that PGR needs to reach out more and have better advertisement. One of the most generous gacha out there that I played, they give out so much free stuff and you can actually get all of the characters they release just by playing the game and theres no 50/50 only the weap and standard banner(btw I love that the weap changes looks based on its refinement/copies), you can also grind the copies of the character to upgrade them at a certain point but the most important things is that they actually UPDATE OLD CHARACTERS new stats/move sets and skills other games can't even!!!!
Thats not a gacha then, if you can get everything just by playing then its just a regular game. Most of us like the 50/50, it makes us feel better when we win and someone loses. Like I won Blade, Kafka and ILs 50/50 and im loving it!!!
good for you guys then I just want the new chara released and hate 5050s and only the debut banners are 100% rate up well I've put it to simpler terms but not necessarily all charas you can get. I skip transcedants/uns so can have enough pulls for the constructs and again I hate that other games abandon old charas at least they make an effort to make old charas still usable and relevant whenever a better unit is out but then again games are not for everyone we all have preferences thought I would like star rail since I love persona, pokemon, final fantasy but idk didn't realy clicked for me
that's the problem of too generous mobile game. like tof. you can't feel any special value on the char, so your main focus is just the combat power they can deliver. unlike hoyo titles, you pull for the chars because you like them regardless of their kits. and there's the story. hoyo knows how to play well with their target market. the otakus.
Scamming audiences with Dehya was brutal. People loved her story and she was hot as hell and they made her trash on purpose Some players won't let that go, and since Abyss is piss easy for whales, they'll skip more banners
Disappointing? Very much so. Scam? That’s reaching. We all knew well ahead of Dehyas release that she was going to be terrible in the actual meta of the game. Ironically, if Genshin ever needs a god damn TANK, well she’s perfect for that at least
I don't think it was a scam, but it was absolutely brutal, i was looking forward to a new meele pyro unit. and she turned out to be pure trash. she is a trophy character you put in your teapot to look at. and since hoyoverse does not post buff any characters we knew she was going to be trash forever. but for me when they said she was going to be on the standard banner, that was a major red flag that something was off. and it turned out to be correct.
I play FGO, HSR, and Genshin If I had to pick only one to stick with, I would pick FGO cause it has the best story hands down. Gamplay may be showing its age, but the story curbstomps Hoyo’s. Belobog is the only thing that comes close Ppl say the rates are bad, but it’s about the same for a 5* as a Hoyo game. Pity system is better in Hoyo, but the thing I like about FGO is 97% of the ENTIRE roster can be used.
Also FGO has guaranteed SSR banners twice a year (in anniv and new year iirc) and a free 5 SSR of choice after clearing the first singularity. The pity is a shame tho, i was looking forward to when it would came, but the way they designed it just too horrible to call it pity (around 330 pulls to hit pity and DON'T transfer to the other banners).
Honestly, 300 pulls for guaranteed 5* star is crazy. It also doesn’t carry over so that’s terrible. Anyways I somehow got np5 koyan oL as f2p so im not gonna complain any further.
One point I want to mention is that HSR has a new character launched which is also one of the most hyped up unit in the game and comparing it with a region release in genshin is kinda weird. I want you to revisit revenue stats when focalor is out in 4.2. Most of the sales in gacha comes from units, HSR simply happened to have a better, more hyped unit in this comparison. Anyways, I hope HSR become more successful just to see them give more though about genshin.
"Ew, sorry 🤓I want to mention that this comparison is wrong because my game has worse character designs and its players dont want to pull for new region characters 🤓. Its unfair to compare it to other games 🤓 Wait until we release the best charater, then compare 🤓"
Who are you meaning? I truly hope not DHIL because his banner has literally only been up a week or so. Starrail gapped genshin before his banner came out. And if you mean kafka, then her banner earned the same as Blades? So again what is your point? Maybe this : 2:00 You are in denial.
I always thought they could have done Liney and Linnett so much better. When I heard leaks about them way back when I imagined a pair of mischievous morally ambiguous tricksters. Instead they were just a nice dude, and a depressing chick. Imagine if they actually did something novel with them, I was thinking it would be cool if they only counted as one 5* character, similar to how child switches weapons, they can switch between each other, I'd imagine them working as a hypercarry where you rotate your supports and then switch to Liney and Linnett with them having a creative dps window where you switch between them to maintain their self buffs while attacking, and their burst they both appear and do something showful and neat together. I would imagine if they were actually interesting in the story, pulled some moderately good dps, and had a crazy kit like that, they'd be top sellers.
1:38 this pretty much sums up everything imo. I’m waiting for the cool characters like Clorinde, Focalors and Navia. Very few people seem interested in Lyney and Lynette, and for good reason (I think)
Kinda unfair to compare one of the most hyped HSR characters with Lyney (male teen) and the reruns of some of the oldest 5 stars in genshin. Once Neuvillete/Wriothesley/Furina come out, Genshin will be back on top. Hope you make a video then too mister Tectone.
@@neko119same with Kafka fans claimed how she's gonna break the chart and then literally being the worse 2nd banner revenue while she's being the most anticipated. Idk what expectations people have for that twink's banner unlike focalors or Arlecchino who has a lot more potential. If they ended up like Kafka too then we'll they're coping and the revenue not gonna topped for a long time for a while
0:56 the rates of FGO is a funny case for me. On the one side the rates are bad and there is pity after 900sq(which is 330 summons). But on the other side(beside my homie muramasa who took me 600+sq) i got most 5 stars on my first multi(a multi is 11 characters and crafe essance which is basicly LC in honkai star rail) and koyanskaya(a top tier support) i got first ticket
The rates actually are better than Genshin. The pity is the bad part. The chances of getting a 5 star are the same as Genshin. The chances of getting the 5 star you want is better in FGO (80-20 VS 50-50).
Truthfully, _HI3_ has a lot of the QoL systems _HSR_ got, and which _Genshin_ desperately needs, and more. They also went a bit crazy on the banners leading up to the Part 1 Finale, releasing HoTr Bronya, HoO Mei (and they gave both her and HoT Mei for FREE as event rewards), and HoFi Kiana right after each other, and then Susannah and Misteln. Most people skipped Shigure Kira (or at least her gear, because like Susannah, she's farmable in the shops) in order to save up for HoRB Seele, likely the game's biggest earner since HoFi. And next is Magical Girl Sirin, who is also farmable in the shops, and has forgeable stigmata. Just need her chakram to full-gear her otherwise. But I don't have any idea who comes after. And at the same time we got a new Kiana ELF and a new Project Bunny ELF. We got costumes being thrown at us left and right, and while some are free event rewards, others are gacha (ironically the F2P friendly method), and still others take money to get (and speaking of, we have _Promare_ outfits coming). You'd better believe the Honkai team knows what's up, and you better believe Captains are eating well. Heck, the third concert was insane, _and_ they gave us the volume 2 artbook. Twelve thousand, five hundred copies per server. _Genshin_ 's over there giving 4 stars. Not even bread crumbs. So glad the Honkai team's managing _HSR_ , but if it's true _ZZZ_ is being managed by the Genshin team, I brace for what's coming. The game looks amazing, but if they mismanage banners and rewards, they will kill most of its chances for success. I hope to Dawei RNG is not everywhere. The Genshin team would never make characters farmable from the shops. So why doesn't _HI3_ perform better if it's so good? It has no EN dub, and it has a certain reputation as a Chinese mobile game, even if it's one of the games that redefined what that means. People don't like the mobile-like UI or the slow-burn start, so even if they know about it and check it out, they don't play long enough for the game to really take off. And they don't wanna read, so the lack of an EN dub really stings.
fr, any HI3rd veterans can attest how much better the management are in hi3rd compared to GI. The only thing stopping new players are because of the kinda outdated game engine, thats it
HSR is not managed by HI3 team, neither is ZZZ managed by Genshin team. That is not how development works. It's logically impossible unless they can split themselves into 3. You guys imagine development like it's some mini school projects.
@@lazycat4331 Mihoyo doesn't have unlimited staff. Of course they have to allocate their human resources (staff) accordingly. Assigning them per game also explains how they're managed so completely differently even though it's the exact same company behind them all. How else do you explain how _HSR_ is getting _HI3_ 's QoL measures before _Genshin_ ? It's the Honkai team, contrasted with the Genshin team. I think it would make the most sense for each game to have its own dedicated team, but only as long as there's a supervisory department too, that ensures every team meets certain benchmarks all the time, specifically to avoid going where _Genshin_ is. Considering how many games Mihoyo already has (5 with the 6th on the way), that _is_ a lot of people, but considering they aren't stopping developing more games, they're gonna need a _lot_ more people.
@@BNuts allocating staff to different team isn't something that always happen, it usually happen in the early stage of the development before they hire enough employees for the specific project. It's extremely hellish and messy to constantly reallocate staff into different project cuz they all have different workflow and not all staff can adapt that quickly into different workflow quickly. It's very inefficient and messy to manage. That's why companies are in a constant state of hiring and expanding. Hoyo is always in a constant state of hiring more employees when they start a new project to ensure they have enough staff before moving further into the development. Sure maybe the person had involved in HI3 before but that doesn't make it managed by the HI3 team. It's still their own team. Can check their career page where they are constantly hiring people to allocate them into specific teams mostly Genshin and HSR, which proves that they have specific teams to work on specific games.
Thing is with FGO is that they are bringing new ideas that the players are happy with, plus the events + anniversary & exclusive summons for literally the best servants out there carried FGO these past few months
btw the reason for fgo doing so well is because na has summer okita alter a fine tinted gal, with the most cutest companion ever. Japan just straight up has a gyaru sun tinted fox girl with either bikini or racing gear on. so yeah. thumbs up for tanned girls!!! :D
As someone with a crippling FGO addiction, FGO pops off with their summer events. You know things are going to go down when they use the Anniversary servant to hype up the Summer Event. LB6 is a top-tier story with top-tier characters and when you put those servants in swimsuits and make them meta... that's how you make money right there. (Thankfully, I keep a very strict F2P rule for all of my gacha accounts)
About fgo, there are so many f2p players who have enjoyed the game for years on end, myself included. I mainly play it for the story(hot takes on latest chapers on JP) as I have been a scholar for the fate series and the nasuverse for most of my life at this point
At first when I saw the boy was the 5 star and lynette was the 4 star, and free I knew it was looking bad for 4.0 revenue sales, much as I love both twins as characters. When I saw second half of banners of 4.0 I knew honkai was gonna outsell for sure, never saw a bigger skip in my life, those banners are for people who started in sumeru which I doubt there is a crazy amount, and most of them probably skipped too lol.
I was shocked and disappointed the twins don't have joint attacks or bursts like Rozaliya and Liliya in _Honkai Impact_ . I was expecting it, but there's nothing in their talent descriptions. Just normal elemental reactions, and that's it? I am disappoint.
I completely forgot about that. I really like both of them separately, but the fact that the idea was glossed over when genshin probably had this only chance to do so is disappointing. @@BNuts
@@softjytsu I'd say Mihoyo would never miss a chance to make people want to gacha, but they gave us Lynette for free. I'm skipping Lynney because Yoimiya and Hu Tao (and also Xiangling) already have Fire DPS covered for me. When they make another character who does something unique to the gameplay, I'll pull again. Last one for me was Wanderer due to short flight. And before that I skipped Cyno and al-Haitham. Last character I skipped in _Hi3_ was Kira, mostly because she's farmable and I wanted to save for HoRB Seele. I've pulled on pretty much all the banners in that game. In _HSR_ I'm skipping IL for Fu Xuan and Lynx. For Imaginary I was lucky enough to get Welt and Otto.
FGO gets tons of money from summer events but the Anniversary which happens right before it brings in a ton too. Besides new Meta defining units they have the GSSR banners. Imagine if Genshin had an anniversary banner for $15 that you're guaranteed one of the Archons and a limited 4*. sure its not free but its way better than waiting all year for a rerun and missing out on new characters or missing the 50/50 and paying $100 for another pity. FGO gives crazy rewards every anniversary plus the Summer events right after meaning big mone.
I just realised how ironic it is that Anime waifus gather more money than most charities. Maybe charities should pay more attention on how effective waifus are.
FGO is mainly a product of being an extremely old game (just recently had its 8th birthday) with an older fanbase of loyal players (Type-Moon fans). As such, it'll spike into the top revenue between lull periods, with summer being its biggest success (a combination of anniversary and summer banners). Fanservice is a thing, but the main draw is moreso the TypeMoon IP than tits (based on previous surveys, female players make up a pretty solid portion of the most active playerbase). The rates are atrocious, and the pity system is the most barebones of any major gacha, but as a positive, premium currency is pretty plentiful (frontloaded up until you reach endgame), while said currency is basically only necessary for summoning (as opposed to refilling stamina) to the point where using quartz for stamina is pretty absurd for anyone but giga whales. That being said, that was a lovely humming voice.
So we comparing a S+ character sales(Honkai) with a niche character sales(Genshin) and pretend people have not been saving wishes in Genshin for months (myself sitting at 122 after pulling for Lyney) vs you have to spend in Honkai atm to get the charters if you don't want to skip. (myself having 31 left after dropping $150) Non of these sales = game good or bad.
@@smoothies2733 I actually did reply to the wrong person , someone said you NEED to spend in HSR and don’t NEED to spend in genshin which is why I said that. wasn’t for you
As someone that plays both. They are both good and could take stuff from the other and both are endless grinds. FGO you grind for mats for more units and to get them up to as powerful as they could be woth ascention and skills. In HSR you farm endlessly for gear to make certain units more powerful.
@15:09 truer words have never been spoken. 😂 Genshin players (and even some HSR players) truly have *no self-respect.* And they sabotage the game for everyone else because of it.
you are absolutely fucking correct with the PGR take, I swear if my friend never told me of that game's existence I would never have known about Lucia and Co.
At 3:40- The reason fate go (at least in the American server) made so much was due to back to back 5* character banners. That being Morgan la fae, tamamo viche, and Oberon. All these servants make for a great end game and 90+ mission teams
@@xenoemblem7 This is true. What with Merlin (pretender), Tiamat (Larve) and Draco (Beast) from fate go arcade being dropped, that helped a lot given the story and overall performance of aforementioned servants
The funny thing about PGR is, despite it’s sale numbers, has one of the most rewarding gacha systems i have ever seen to date. You want something, you pick it and you get it at pity. And you can earn a lot of their premium units in the game. That’s it.
the kicker is that PGR also powercreep stuff very very hard and base S rank are often no enough if you really want to play the meta side. You'll see it becomes more apparent in later updates where base S rank characters have majority of their gameplay mechanics lock in weapons and evolutions.
@@guiltylegion7037 Only people who hasn't play PGR would say that, or people who just likes to be ignorant. The currencies are brutal for beginners consider that most of them are lock behind the endgame content which is bad for the new players by nature. The gacha isn't brutal if you just want to get the base S rank but if you want to invest deeper into the core meta (which is the main content of the game) then base S rank is not gonna be suffice. Not because of power level, but a lot of the gameplay mechanics are locked behind "constellation" and weapons (including weapon refinements). Without them the characters feel extremely clunky and incomplete (weak too). It becomes more apparent once the next character release.
@@lazycat4331 I don't pull for anyone I didn't like jo matter how meta they are, in this game Tank can out Damage the DPS. Ye that's why ppl save up after seeing the CN patch that comes 3 Years before Global. Also the wpn banner can be customized to any wpn u wanna pull.
Money to left or right pocket is still money for mihoyo. And yes if *HSR* can regularly outperform *GI* then it might make them have second thoughts why/where they went wrong and hopefully lift their heads out of the hole.
You guys are kinda stupid, the "whole new Region" is content, which means the game is better now; But in terms of money, they don't make money out of content, they make money out of the banners. And despite having the "Yelan: The Absolute", the character is absolutely great good enough at C0, Lyney is "Just another passable DPS character", obviously it's not going to be astronomical sale like Raiden who requires C2~C3 and Weapon to be good, also all big whales already got enough Yelan and with the archon and the water dragon in the horizon, dolphins are obviously holding their money for these banners
Tbh they should have take a damn business classes back in HS or college like I always felt like hoyoverse's community is just a bunch of clowns and inferiority complex so they'll coping about anything else and acted as if they're telling the facts but it's the opposite
As an OPBR player, Genshin’s child’s play. Gacha rates in OPBR are like, 90 10 pulls but you get nothing. There’s no pity system, and even worse their currency is incredibly expensive to Genshin in comparison
HSR is making a lot more money because standard banner characters are actually good still. I got a dup Aramintha when I lost the 50/50 in HSR and was hyped. I got a new Dehya when I lost the 50/50 in GI and was mad.
As a Fate Grand Order player, I approve this statement about the game : we pull on banners mixing both the equivalent of weapons and characters with the ratio of weapons being higher than characters, so when we pull we can just get only weapons for like 100 pulls if you have shitty luck because 4* characters are NEVER GUARANTEED, not like Genshin or HSR. And if we talk about pity, yeah we have smth like that : should you burn 900 sq (30 sq giving you 1 10 pulls), so AFTER 30 10 PULLS you have a guaranteed 5*, knowing that should you get a 5* before then the pity is gone and never comes back even if you don't get the 5* you want. It's really a praige for good luck game, and I am always impressed to see people going to max the characters by getting their max Noble Phantasm, which is the ult and the only thing going up with several copies of the same characters.
Bro, what are u coping? Meta characters always has been relevant in Genshin just look at the top banners which are Raiden, yelan, hutao, kazuha, all are meta characters
The comment about getting everything done with Fontaine in 2 days is so true and I had to hear it to realise it. I even uninstalled after reinstalling for Fontaine
I honestly stopped playing genshin since june. My gripe is simple: 1. I love dehya but her kit is ahh, 2. Then I really hate that many good support 4 star characters get cracked or playable only if they're C6! 3. It's harder to get them new 4 star characters to C6 more than getting the 5 star characters since the RNG sucks, I still don't have candace and kirara until the last day I play genshin. 4. They don't appreciate the players enough to fine tune the character kits with doing bufff (I still hate what they done to raiden and beidou's synergy when they released raiden) 5. They're stingy af. I hit ar 60 since like 1 year and a half ago and like.. they don't feel rewarding at all. 6. Since I played HSR with their generosity of free wishes each updates, early QOL updates, better QOL compared to genshin, better writing, I just sealed genshin impact away at this point. Fontaine don't do much to take me back. 7. Genshin censoring is ridiculous, from the chat, then disappearing character if we look at their booty from the bottom, then that ridiculous water diaper. It's stoopid. 8. The last abyss I experienced is getting permafrozen, that definitely drives me away from the game. It's not hard, just straightup annoying. (I know abyss mobs keeps changing but they hit me with that at my worst feeling in playing that game). They can't fix what I hate about it. It's just me, so I stopped spending and playing altogether.
@7:40 classic bad Tectone take lmao. They never release the archon on the first version of a new major region, and they shouldn’t. They need to keep people interested in the game
The twitter follower event that Genshin did in the past where if we reached the max goal numbers of reactions or whatever, they said they were going to invite Elon Musk to the Chinese headquarter for a tour is what broke my trust in the company.
Dehya was was the moment my interest in Genshin died... I did Fontaine main story, but i can't force myself to login everyday, when the best Sumeru character can't be played at all in any role sufficiently. Don't know, maybe Ayato,Raiden,Nahida,Zhongli party killed it, but even after investing into Dehya comparable amount of relics, i just can't play her and have fun.
Yeah, they played dirty on us. But hey, there are some leaks saying that dehya and focalors will have an excelent synergy bro, maybe she will shine playing with her
"can't be played at all in any role sufficiently" she's great for Lyney, is one of Hu Tao's better options for VV vape setups, is great for giving wanderer much need interrup resistance while also giving pyro resonance. But sure, totally unplayable character lmfao
People really struggle to understand, that you don't need to spend in genshin to get characters. This game is old, most of playerbase have savings from months, and don't need to spend money on specific banners after million boring reruns. Also why would you pull for Lyney lol. HSR meanwhile keeps spamming new characters, almost none of it you want to miss, and you can't save a sh*t
I pull for lyney and his weapon and still has around 158 pull. There's also some 1500 genesis crystal and 1888 primogems that haven't been converted to fates yet. 3 patches with literally rerun characters... Lmao, why would I pull for rerun characters when I already have all of them?😅
As Day 1 welkin genshin player I have almost all characters (except 4 now), and 500 rolls to spare, with pretty much nothing to spare on for past half year - and I'm still not rolling for Lyney. As Day 1 Supply Pass HSR player I have Seele, SW and 250 pulls praying it will be enough to get Fu Xuan and Jingliu. That's why HSR banners are, and will keep selling better
@@Deaah21Like I said, if you have most of the characters why would you pull them again on their rerun? You and I are in the same situation on genshin and in hsr, but saying one better when it's only 3 patches is funny. Will you pull for the same characters on HSR on their rerun when there's more juicy characters in the future? Saying HSR banners will and keep being better is quite delusional, they're both the same. And back to revenue. People collecting the primogems would lead to people more unlikely to buy premium currency. HSR seems to make their new characters stronger than the previous one (powercreep). Creating characters takes a lot of time, so at some point they will need to rerun the previous characters banners which are weaker than the new ones which in turn lead to people collecting stellar jade (Less revenue).
@@Deaah21The reason why you keep saying it's better is because you're reliving the experience that you felt when first playing genshin. It'll be the same in the future and next you'll go to ZZZ and complain about both HSR and Genshin next lol.
On the topic of fate grand order in the first minute - I remember spending $240 on the nero bride banner back in 2018 only to not get a single fucking copy of her. I was so pissed, I had spent most of my paycheck with nothing to show for it. Spend responsibly, bros. 😔

3:36 Anniversary Happened, so people spend money on GSSR, and there are good 5* Servants that were released(Some people don't like the Anniv servant that released, but for me she's great), so ye FGO going Stonks lmao
22:48 I think the commenter poorly worded his opinion which I agree with. Basically, they mean because the world of Genshin is way bigger, you get more primos from exploration and shit in Genshin vs in HSR. So the commenter thinks we're getting free pulls every update because we lack all those exploration primos (chests, world quests, waypoints, statues of seven, etc.)
Honestly if anyone is mad that this has happened, then idk what to tell you. Genshin has long been declining naturally and due to the fact it got buffed by Covid. Honkai is what the devs hearts are in, it was bound to happen. Nobody should be angry at this.
The truth of the matter is there were 6 3.x Genshin banners that out sold all besides the debut banner. Even as recent as the Yelan/Hu Tao rerun outsold Seele banner.
@@arceptor Well, they've always been working on maps, but what I mean is new game modes, better character kits, some of the many Qol requests people have been asking for. Anything to show that they are listening to what players are asking for instead of just doing things that they wanna do. Like those Q&A where they answer their own questions and completely ignore community feedback
The Lyney/Lynette banner vs Honkais Kafka/Blade/SSDanheng bannera perfectly sums up how much effort we get every single banner vs genshins huge .0 updates, and how fucking dumb Genshins being atm 😂
So you're telling me HSR got more money by having Blade, Kafka and Horny Dan Heng than Genshin did by only having Lyney? Wow, who would have thought! Yeah, the game is def dying and less popular than HSR! /s
I totally agree with you about the 10 pulls for every patch on genshin, since i play both hsr and genshin, i do find it very disappointing how genshin is handled in comparison to hsr.
HSR gives you a free 10 pull every patch cause the game has to literally compete with every other turn based game in the market as well as compensate for the fact that there are far fewer sources of gaining currency in the game itself than genshin's exploration and abundance of side quests. It isn't coming from the good will of Hoyo. Thinking otherwise is next level delusion.
I remember Genshin gave out 10 free wishes per patch (or every second pathc) like HSR during the first couple of months after released, then they stopped once the game was popular enough. I'm curious how long we still will get the 10 free pulls in HSR.
@@justsomeguy727 Oh ! I didn't know genshin had a new explorable region EVERY patch and that each of those regions gave the equivalent of a 10 pull ! Color me surprised 🤔

I personally don't think having more money means they'll be able to push out more content. Not like if they spend, let's say, 100mil in a single patch and they'll be able to deliver a year worth of content in a single patch. You can get resources with those money but you still can't buy time. At some point it's gonna hit a diminishing returns. Imo Genshin's content in a single patch (Openworld and Quest) is on a level of satisfactory compare to majority of the gacha games out there. HSR imo is find too, only thing not too happy with is how the story quest are stretched so thinly in Xianzhou.
Hsr is way more mature and semi casual (depending how you play). Which allows players to play as you want. Genshin is just boring now, it’s the same thing over and over again to the point there’s no challenge. Like Teccy said “There’s no reason to pull Caz it’s already been beaten”. Since they have already told us there’s no endgame past SA12. With the incredibly long times to push out story and region updates it just ain’t worth it anymore.
Have you even played Fountaine? Or better yet, the latest event? Have you even faced the two mobs on the Fountaine map that can literally one/two shot you?
Bro the fact the rates are apparently horrible in FGO and I got everything I wanted with a lot of crystals to spare and was stuck think “dang who do I even spin for”
I personally like Genshin more than HSR but HSR has the better end game content right now imo Genshin only has abyss (I personally can’t get all stars since I play more casually and just like to collect my fave chars) and tcg and tcg isn’t the best imo
Same. Both are great imo but if my phone is running out of space and I have to choose, I'd delete HSR 'cause I like Genshin lores more than HSR. Before in Belobog I read the story but I skipped most of The Xianzhou Luofu because I have no interest in it. Which is weird because I really like Jingyuan, Blade and Dan Heng. Genshin, I skipped reading Mondstadt but really started reading halfway in Liyue and till now I'm still not skipping the archon quests. Gameplay wise, I prefer action over turn based ( and I grew up playing turn based games like suikoden, FF etc ) but I do agree HSR has better endgame content,
@@amnos180188 the problem with Genshin is there is heavy lack of content outside of events once you practically cleared all regions. I have like 110 million mora, 7000+ crystal butterfly cores, the teapot isn’t interesting enough anymore. And most would just be immortal with zhongli and kokomi though I also have no idea how to make more end game content for Genshin
And what does HSR has???? MOC=Abyss and 2 times simulated universe a week for 14K points... wow so much more endgame content. U have to be delusional if u think HSR has more endgame.
True the only way is to introduce a really harder content but then those casuals with FOMO syndrome will complain. Imo the only thing they can do is revamp the abyss. Heck even have a co-op abyss. That'd be cool Like I'm one of those who really wants combat elated endgame content too. But if Hoyo is not giving that, then I hope they deliver in something else. Like longer archon quests, or more events so that we have things to do. Though ngl, HSR is already ebcoming a grind like Genshin for me. My problem with these players is everyone care about big damage or big boobs. I got a real beautiful wife so I don’t care about pixel boobs id rather the real thing, and genshin is a adventure game it’s basically a Zelda style game so don’t care about spending $1000 on a broken character to max them out. I go crazy over characters based on their importance and lore so if their story is important I’m buying the character so I can follow the lore.
If hydro archon doesnt garner more than HSR revenue, that's gonna be a big L on genshin

It's not just the fanservice element.

I've been there.

i feel like hoyoverse players deserve more, even if we dont touch on primogem/stellar jades, a company that earns 100 million a month is absolutely capable of releasing a proper update with new quests every month.
I think the crux is quality? While they definitely can make a plethora of world missions, the quality of a companion or Trailblaze Mission would require at least 1.5 months (unless we remove cinematics/animations, then it's shorter).

Hsr has a more mature audience. More mature audience = more people independent of their money, to spend. And I love it, this game should be the more mature one, where it’s simple, we have issue with this problem, they fix it. Our community? Not toxic. Let it just say like this
I guess I'm mature enough to play it but not spend a single cent on it.
@@heibk201dtbYou don’t have to spend, but if the audience is mostly people with their own income, then that still leaves more people who CAN.

Yes I also had that feeling eversince the honeymoon phase was over and all the Genshin-only players left. The HSR Community feels more mature than Genshin's Community.
I’m an FGO player and I know that every summer, their sales skyrocket and that’s because they do a summer event every year and release new summer versions of servants and Teccy is right, if Hoyoverse did a summer event with swimsuits for some of the characters like the ones he mentioned or Dehya or Shenhe, they would make more money than FGO would, instead, we got a modest summer outfit for Jean and a sailor outfit for Barbara
i mean… its good that they dont ponder to coomers i suppose. i assume it has to do with chinese laws

People loved her story and she was hot as hell and they made her trash on purpose
Some players won't let that go, and since Abyss is piss easy for whales, they'll skip more banners

If I had to pick only one to stick with, I would pick FGO cause it has the best story hands down. Gamplay may be showing its age, but the story curbstomps Hoyo’s. Belobog is the only thing that comes close
Ppl say the rates are bad, but it’s about the same for a 5* as a Hoyo game. Pity system is better in Hoyo, but the thing I like about FGO is 97% of the ENTIRE roster can be used.
Deym every Lostbelt Trailers hype me up and that's how good FGO story is.

Basically like Seele and Veliona
I didn't pull for Lunae either, I'm going for Fu Xuan for Mono Quantum and after that more Nihility characters for Kafka's team.

It's still their own team.

btw the reason for fgo doing so well is because na has summer okita alter a fine tinted gal, with the most cutest companion ever.
@@BNuts
considering how most people wanted them to be one character and you switch between of the two of them would've been cool asf
Maybe charities should pay more attention on how effective waifus are.
charities might make more money if they weren't so often scams.
(myself having 31 left after dropping $150) Non of these sales = game good or bad.

you are absolutely fucking correct with the PGR take, I swear if my friend never told me of that game's existence I would never have known about Lucia and Co.
At 3:40- The reason fate go (at least in the American server) made so much was due to back to back 5* character banners. That being Morgan la fae, tamamo viche, and Oberon. All these servants make for a great end game and 90+ mission teams

Ye they gives good way to earn gacha currency.
One of the most generous games.
Also the Gacha isn't Brutal

*Keep in mind people who got Kafka early and bought jade in anticipation for IL.*
As a Fate player, I used to think our rates were the worst of all gacha games. Then Genshin came along and topped it.
What ever game you play, hsr or genshin, at the end hoyo is the winning one.
I think the kafka banner sales were low cuz everyone already saved for her since day 1

The comment about getting everything done with Fontaine in 2 days is so true and I had to hear it to realise it. I even uninstalled after reinstalling for Fontaine
I honestly stopped playing genshin since june. My gripe is simple:
1. I love dehya but her kit is ahh,
2. Then I really hate that many good support 4 star characters get cracked or playable only if they're C6!
3. It's harder to get them new 4 star characters to C6 more than getting the 5 star characters since the RNG sucks, I still don't have candace and kirara until the last day I play genshin.
4. They don't appreciate the players enough to fine tune the character kits with doing bufff (I still hate what they done to raiden and beidou's synergy when they released raiden)
Current GFL gonna go crazy 🤑 New Office Costume banner 🙏
@7:40 classic bad Tectone take lmao. They never release the archon on the first version of a new major region, and they shouldn’t. They need to keep people interested in the game
Meanwhile FGO just always chilling in the top 5 without many people talking about it
I wish for success to honkai starrail so that they focus more on what players have to say.
@@justsomeguy727 being pyro character for resonance isn't exactly high level of contribution for 5* character.
Me starting a gacha game with revenue less than 500k USD and i got 6 SSR at day 1 as f2p, feels really good , but the skin so expensive here
People really struggle to understand, that you don't need to spend in genshin to get characters.

HSR surpassed GI on release, and when first update dropped, HSR already got more QoL features added than GI up to this day
22:48 I think the commenter poorly worded his opinion which I agree with.
