It's important to remember that this situation is not about ALL individuals in the CN community, not even remotely close, in fact MANY individuals in the CN community love Scaramouche! One teacher talked about being very afraid for her students in her class who could be victims like other individuals have been, as a few of her students had Wanderer Pencil topers and one even had an Umbrella designed after Wanderer's Hat. Even just a few days ago there was a massive cosplay event which had multiple Wanderer Cosplayers who were welcomed with open arms and tons were taking pictures with them! So it's very important to remember this isn't all CN Players being an issue, it's specifically the Narcissists in the CN Genshin Community that are the problem, as I'd like to discuss further below. Starting with the Poor cat situation, Many narcissists higher up on the spectrum HATE animals. They view them as below them and as pests, and will GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to harm them. (I've seen Narcissists that will constantly vocalize their hatred of animals, one I had the displeasure of knowing would go out of their way to speed up and/or swerve their vehicle in a attempt to hit crossing animals.) They are sick individuals, and the reality is they can't be viewed in the same light as a normal in the head human. The individual who committed this action already had a desire deep rooted in their brain to harm that poor cat, this situation unfortunately just gave their sick mind the justification to go through with harming that poor cat. Now lets dive specifically into why Narcissists hate Scaramouche so much. There are multiple key reasons why narcissists in specific REALLY hate Scaramouche, I'll keep this very simple and concise for those that haven't researched and studied narcissistic personality disorder and how those that have it think/react/behave/ect. Scaramouche as a character was introduced displaying a number of Traits that are key aspects that Narcissists share, however during the progression of Scaramouche's story we have recently seen him attempting to go down a new path, one where he wishes to take accountability for his actions and become a better person, actually recognizing his wrongdoing and wishing to be better. He wants to face the truth, no matter how bitter the "aftertaste" is. A Narcissist has a natural inflated sense of self, as well as a strong desire for recognition and praise, regardless of how wrong the actions and beliefs they wish to be praised are. Seeing a character who previously shared certain traits with them recognizing that their actions were WRONG and desiring to go on a path of betterment really pisses them off. Narcissists are inherently flawed and lack the capability to comprehend that their actions are wrong, they see themselves as better then everyone so it's near IMPOSSIBLE for them to genuinely feel that their actions are wrong. Scaramouche's character has put a mirror in front of them that they loathe to look at, which is why they are so desperate to have him completely removed from the game. His future storyline and his path of betterment is like poison to these people and their deluded minds, however it is so very important that Hoyo does not bend the knee to these sick individuals demands. They cannot be allowed to get away with their actions, and we must continue to shine light on their wrongdoings, showing the world and those outside our community that we will not stand for these wrongdoers in the Genshin community.
I mean yes. But for years the community downplayed issues within the fandom, and abused any public figures that tried to talk bad about the genshin community. I think this lets these people fester behind closed doors, when anywhere else they'd be laughed at and bullied out of the community before they got to this point.

It's actually worse. There was a screenshot from a quest with nahida and scara, where it so happens that two cats models clipped into each other, making it look like they're fugging. Those sickos decided that this was a hint for scara and nahida's very close relationships, and it made them even more mad. as a chinese myself, i can confirm that this is absolutely true, theres many people who simply cannot make the difference between reality and game and could literally do anything rediculous that normal people would never understand. I think what many people do not know about China is how digital everything is in the country. Went to an anime con a few weeks back in China and there was no hate towards Scara cosplays, but most of the guys didn't approach the cosplayers for photos... I play for my own enjoyment and small (emphasis on small) theories that I enjoy sharing with the friends I've made thanks to this game. Are we normal? Well said, i didn't know that it was that deep, i like scara/wanderer because of the very fact that he decided to hold accountability of his actions and him trying to make an effort to change and be a better character, obviously a character like that cannot change to a complete 180 and suddenly become a saint, that's unrealistic but IMO everyone deserves a second chance or redemption if they really want to become better as a character and their genuine 😊 im not surprised why a lot of people like wanderer but this CN community issue surrounding this fictional character is really going to severly worsen the reputation of the game and the genshin community even further

There was the mentioned assassination attempt of the CEO because they thought their beloved HI3 valks wouldn't dance in bunny suits for others. This is literally every community ever, the game has nothing to do with it, Genshin is just popular. Please research the person who identified as a teenage cartoon ghost and shot up a supermarket. The death threats that get leveled at any game that gets delayed. The death threats to actors and VAs for any role they play ever. Genshin does not encourage this in anyway, the devs don't encourage this in anyway, these people infest every game, sport and social media platform. The more popular the activity the more you will see in that given community but the ratio remains the same between all fandoms and sport fans.

Genshin just has a low barrier of entry since it doesn't require any special equipment beyond a phone and it has no cost to restrict entry. There is a lot of people who play genshin, some are children in school, some are adults with families and children, some are straight, some are gay, some are men, women and everything in between. Genshin has a very open demographic with a vast amount of diverse people playing jt globally, its just statistically impossible to not have people with mental instabilities in a fandom this diverse and large.

i am chinese, and yes, sadly there are phycopaths like this anywhere in the world. not sure what they see in a game or character that can make them do something like this, but... on the cn side, i definitely have seen people who heavily dislike scara, and say really rude things to anyone who shows they actually like the character, which again is really confusing to me, don't see why someone would care THIS much. that is only the minority though, thankfully, and most people are normal. still stuns me on why anyone would do this, but oh well. hopefully the blame is not put onto the entire cn community, as everyone is as angry and disgusted about recent happenings as any normal person should be. again i would like to remind people who see this comment that genshin impact is just a game, and if any character, story, or part of the game bothers you, especially to this level, stop playing it. that's always an option. genshin impact is not your life, nor will anything in it affect your life.

I like to have both female and male characters in the games, that's why I probably don't like playing all female playable characters games. And I really like that honkai star rail until now had the same number of female and male limited characters.
Part of this could attribute to the Idolization policy of Mihoyo and their major customers focusing on Anime fans whose mental age was premature. If you can recall, mihoyo announced that it would build digital idol in its games and monetization on this idea. Therefore people can get attached to these fictional figures. This kind of thing happened, again and again, seems that their policy kind of backfired occasionally. Also for anime part, if you all remember Kyoto Animation arson attack in Japan killed 36 ppl, it actually is not a surprise that people overly attached to fictional concepts can go really far. People should always distinguish between fictional anime figures and reality. But it looks like it is always hard for some people. So Tectone just be careful and avoid toxic arguments and the environment is always a good choice.

So they escape to video games where they can have waifus, but Genshin caters to both women and men. Then they changed that to a two child policy in an attempt to reverse the nation's stagnant and aging population growth and shrinking workforce. That also didn't cut it and they changed it again to a 3 child policy in 2021 but that also wasn't enough so they just removed it completely this year (at least in Sichuan). We can only hope that it's unrelated and only done for clout, but regardless, it is a horrible situation. I speak also as someone who absolutely loves animals - they're simply friendly and funky little guys that deserve all the love that we could give. Whether that be in basic needs, comfort, security, etc... Like us, they never asked to be brought into this world. Perhaps it is just me, but I believe that no matter what, we should treat others with kindness for that simple fact, and more that should be obvious. I'm just wondering how we can stop these kinds of situations or speak out against them in a genuinely effective way. I just hope my bestie doesn't look into this. It'll absolutely break her heart as she has two cats that she adores so dearly.

This isn't new. The king of toxic communities, the Steven Universe community, doxxed and harassed a girl into killing herself, and she was thankfully saved after the failed attempt, and they KEPT TRYING even after the rescue (because she didn't draw a fictional character from the show, fat enough). The fan base even harassed and gave death threats to the show's creators for not validating their ships in the show. When I was a kid, I played video games and watched shows without issue, but now we have the internet. In a book I read when I was young, The Neverending Story, Atreyu has to pass a test where he has to look at his "true self" in a mirror. It's said that seeing your true self (which I believe is showing the human without their humanity, seeing yourself as a raw feral beast without any sense of morals), you go into a blind and hysterical panic out of sheer terror. I believe the internet has become an embodiment of that mirror. It's obvious why it's not a place to let the immature roam around freely.

I think a big reason why no one acknowledges this issue is the fact that it's a CN issue. Even I haven't heard about this till now. But yea I wish more people would talk about this so people are aware.
I don't think this is even "Genshin Players", it's a problem across almost any fandom. People grow attached to fictional characters, especially if they themselves lack in a certain area of their social lives. They seem themselves in the characters and draw a connection that "This person understands me" or "This person is who I've been missing my whole life". In a time where humans can form relationships with nameless, faceless online friends, it's even easier to blur this line of reality. Humans are naturally social creatures, we personify stuffed animals, cute things, inanimate things etc - it's not too hard to see how the opposite feelings; hate, rage, sadness, can occur.

I like characters in stories for their looks and/or personalities, but I know they aren't real in the end. I KNOW that anything that is written/drawn is a representation of reality in someway because we all live in "reality", but I feel like a lot of people are starting to not understand the line anymore which is sad. I feel like we need more chill in person gatherings for adults. Children and teens have their school so maybe their behaviour can be corrected by others there, but adults just have the online echo chambers. It's important to remember that this situation is not about ALL individuals in the CN community, not even remotely close, in fact MANY individuals in the CN community love Scaramouche! One teacher talked about being very afraid for her students in her class who could be victims like other individuals have been, as a few of her students had Wanderer Pencil topers and one even had an Umbrella designed after Wanderer's Hat. Even just a few days ago there was a massive cosplay event which had multiple Wanderer Cosplayers who were welcomed with open arms and tons were taking pictures with them! So it's very important to remember this isn't all CN Players being an issue, it's specifically the Narcissists in the CN Genshin Community that are the problem, as I'd like to discuss further below.
Starting with the Poor cat situation, Many narcissists higher up on the spectrum HATE animals. They view them as below them and as pests, and will GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to harm them. (I've seen Narcissists that will constantly vocalize their hatred of animals, one I had the displeasure of knowing would go out of their way to speed up and/or swerve their vehicle in a attempt to hit crossing animals.)
They are sick individuals, and the reality is they can't be viewed in the same light as a normal in the head human.
The individual who committed this action already had a desire deep rooted in their brain to harm that poor cat, this situation unfortunately just gave their sick mind the justification to go through with harming that poor cat.
Now lets dive specifically into why Narcissists hate Scaramouche so much.
There are multiple key reasons why narcissists in specific REALLY hate Scaramouche, I'll keep this very simple and concise for those that haven't researched and studied narcissistic personality disorder and how those that have it think/react/behave/ect.
Scaramouche as a character was introduced displaying a number of Traits that are key aspects that Narcissists share, however during the progression of Scaramouche's story we have recently seen him attempting to go down a new path, one where he wishes to take accountability for his actions and become a better person, actually recognizing his wrongdoing and wishing to be better. He wants to face the truth, no matter how bitter the "aftertaste" is.
A Narcissist has a natural inflated sense of self, as well as a strong desire for recognition and praise, regardless of how wrong the actions and beliefs they wish to be praised are. Seeing a character who previously shared certain traits with them recognizing that their actions were WRONG and desiring to go on a path of betterment really pisses them off. Narcissists are inherently flawed and lack the capability to comprehend that their actions are wrong, they see themselves as better then everyone so it's near IMPOSSIBLE for them to genuinely feel that their actions are wrong.
Scaramouche's character has put a mirror in front of them that they loathe to look at, which is why they are so desperate to have him completely removed from the game. His future storyline and his path of betterment is like poison to these people and their deluded minds, however it is so very important that Hoyo does not bend the knee to these sick individuals demands. They cannot be allowed to get away with their actions, and we must continue to shine light on their wrongdoings, showing the world and those outside our community that we will not stand for these wrongdoers in the Genshin community.
I mean yes. But for years the community downplayed issues within the fandom, and abused any public figures that tried to talk bad about the genshin community. I think this lets these people fester behind closed doors, when anywhere else they'd be laughed at and bullied out of the community before they got to this point.
Even if you don't like Scaramouche or his storyline I think we can all agree that this is way, way too far.

It's actually worse. There was a screenshot from a quest with nahida and scara, where it so happens that two cats models clipped into each other, making it look like they're fugging. Those sickos decided that this was a hint for scara and nahida's very close relationships, and it made them even more mad. as a chinese myself, i can confirm that this is absolutely true, theres many people who simply cannot make the difference between reality and game and could literally do anything rediculous that normal people would never understand. I think what many people do not know about China is how digital everything is in the country. Went to an anime con a few weeks back in China and there was no hate towards Scara cosplays, but most of the guys didn't approach the cosplayers for photos... Now that I think about it, most of the ones engaging with them were girls.

The FGC fighting game community has toxic people and horrible scandals. But they do not have the same reputation that the Genshin community does. Why? Because the community hold themselves responsible to kick out the bad apples. Even if they continue playing the game, they will be made to feel excluded if they go around doing even half the things that people in the Genshin community have been doing.
*The community creates the culture.* The Genshin culture sucks because the community could not manage themselves and their spaces properly. *The "cultural norms" reflect the people who made the culture* in the first place. Genshin is what it created.
And don't get me wrong, *it's not like Hoyoverse has none of the blame.* They made a predatory game that purposefully uses known psychology techniques to mess with people's heads. They wanted an audience that would abuse themselves to worship the fictional characters. Hoyo wanted to metally break people to pressure them to fork over their cash. Hoyo achieved what they wanted.

But there's no huge physiological tricks to make you fall in love with them or whatever the fuck you are saying. That is extremely fucked up and I lose faith in humanity any time I hear something this disturbing. It's important to remember that this situation is not about ALL individuals in the CN community, not even remotely close, in fact MANY individuals on the CN side love Scaramouche! One teacher talked about being very afraid for her students in her class who could be victims like other individuals have been, as a few of her students had Wanderer Pencil topers and one even had an Umbrella designed after Wanderer's Hat. Even just a few days ago there was a massive cosplay event which had multiple Wanderer Cosplayers who were welcomed with open arms and tons were taking pictures with them! So it's very important to remember this isn't all CN Players being an issue, it's specifically the Narcissists in the CN Genshin Community that are the problem, as I'd like to discuss further below.
Starting with the Poor cat situation, Many narcissists higher up on the spectrum HATE animals. They view them as below them and as pests, and will GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to harm them. (I've seen Narcissists that will constantly vocalize their hatred of animals, one I had the displeasure of knowing would go out of their way to speed up and/or swerve their vehicle in a attempt to hit crossing animals.)
They are sick individuals, and the reality is they can't be viewed in the same light as a normal in the head human.
The individual who committed this action already had a desire deep rooted in their brain to harm that poor cat, this situation unfortunately just gave their sick mind the justification to go through with harming that poor cat.
Now lets dive specifically into why Narcissists hate Scaramouche so much.
There are multiple key reasons why narcissists in specific REALLY hate Scaramouche, I'll keep this very simple and concise for those that haven't researched and studied narcissistic personality disorder and how those that have it think/react/behave/ect.
Scaramouche as a character was introduced displaying a number of Traits that are key aspects that Narcissists share, however during the progression of Scaramouche's story we have recently seen him attempting to go down a new path, one where he wishes to take accountability for his actions and become a better person, actually recognizing his wrongdoing and wishing to be better. He wants to face the truth, no matter how bitter the "aftertaste" is.
A Narcissist has a natural inflated sense of self, as well as a strong desire for recognition and praise, regardless of how wrong the actions and beliefs they wish to be praised are. Seeing a character who previously shared certain traits with them recognizing that their actions were WRONG and desiring to go on a path of betterment really pisses them off. Narcissists are inherently flawed and lack the capability to comprehend that their actions are wrong, they see themselves as better then everyone so it's near IMPOSSIBLE for them to genuinely feel that their actions are wrong.
Scaramouche's character has put a mirror in front of them that they loathe to look at, which is why they are so desperate to have him completely removed from the game. His future storyline and his path of betterment is like poison to these people and their deluded minds, however it is so very important that Hoyo does not bend the knee to these sick individuals demands. They cannot be allowed to get away with their actions, and we must continue to shine light on their wrongdoings.
Well said, i didn't know that it was that deep, i like scara/wanderer because of the very fact that he decided to hold accountability of his actions and him trying to make an effort to change and be a better character, obviously a character like that cannot change to a complete 180 and suddenly become a saint, that's unrealistic but IMO everyone deserves a second chance or redemption if they really want to become better as a character and their genuine 😊 im not surprised why a lot of people like wanderer but this CN community issue surrounding this fictional character is really going to severly worsen the reputation of the game and the genshin community even further

I like to have both female and male characters in the games, that's why I probably don't like playing all female playable characters games. And I really like that honkai star rail until now had the same number of female and male limited characters.
Part of this could attribute to the Idolization policy of Mihoyo and their major customers focusing on Anime fans whose mental age was premature. If you can recall, mihoyo announced that it would build digital idol in its games and monetization on this idea. Therefore people can get attached to these fictional figures. This kind of thing happened, again and again, seems that their policy kind of backfired occasionally. Also for anime part, if you all remember Kyoto Animation arson attack in Japan killed 36 ppl, it actually is not a surprise that people overly attached to fictional concepts can go really far. People should always distinguish between fictional anime figures and reality. But it looks like it is always hard for some people. So Tectone just be careful and avoid toxic arguments and the environment is always a good choice.

Then they changed that to a two child policy in an attempt to reverse the nation's stagnant and aging population growth and shrinking workforce. The king of toxic communities, the Steven Universe community, doxxed and harassed a girl into killing herself, and she was thankfully saved after the failed attempt, and they KEPT TRYING even after the rescue (because she didn't draw a fictional character from the show, fat enough). The fan base even harassed and gave death threats to the show's creators for not validating their ships in the show.
When I was a kid, I played video games and watched shows without issue, but now we have the internet.
In a book I read when I was young, The Neverending Story, Atreyu has to pass a test where he has to look at his "true self" in a mirror. It's said that seeing your true self (which I believe is showing the human without their humanity, seeing yourself as a raw feral beast without any sense of morals), you go into a blind and hysterical panic out of sheer terror. I don't think this is even "Genshin Players", it's a problem across almost any fandom. People grow attached to fictional characters, especially if they themselves lack in a certain area of their social lives. They seem themselves in the characters and draw a connection that "This person understands me" or "This person is who I've been missing my whole life". In a time where humans can form relationships with nameless, faceless online friends, it's even easier to blur this line of reality. Humans are naturally social creatures, we personify stuffed animals, cute things, inanimate things etc - it's not too hard to see how the opposite feelings; hate, rage, sadness, can occur.

I am so glad that in the end , there is no reason to interact with anyone in Genshin , and that it's just a single player experience (don't even start , you odd case that love to co-op , you're on your own lol) . I feel like these people doing these nasty things are just so lonely that their brains see a collection of pixels that can't truly interact with them as actual people. I don't want to go off and echo everything you said in the video though so let's just say - I agree with all of it.
I like characters in stories for their looks and/or personalities, but I know they aren't real in the end. I KNOW that anything that is written/drawn is a representation of reality in someway because we all live in "reality", but I feel like a lot of people are starting to not understand the line anymore which is sad.
I feel like we need more chill in person gatherings for adults. Children and teens have their school so maybe their behaviour can be corrected by others there, but adults just have the online echo chambers. People always need to be open minded and take new perspectives to calm down, there just isn't a lot of that after a certain point with age.
(Also I know that school can't teach children/teens decency sometimes but they really should...)
