The lighter the holders the better. That is one of the main things I don't like about SGC is the weight and the bulk. You need a black light to see re-coloring. I was just thinking, how does a card that is a 2 on 10 scale considered "good"? "Chee-clay" is Spanish for gum. I though they were trashing qualifiers, bummer.
The first basketball cards are from 1910 in a set called "Athlete Felts B-33" and included 30 basketball cards and 10 different sports. The first basketball "set" was 1948 Bowman with the George Mikan rookie card Topps came 10 years later
Thank you for sharing these with us. The Diamond Stars are an amazing set. Let me know if you ever want to put something together discussing this set. I’m building it now, and I’ve learned a ton about it. I’m half done.
Nice batch of cards. Nice keepers for the pc . Yeah they just up charged me on my Kobe sticker auto (psa 6) when I also graded another on card /60 Kobe auto (psa 7) and they didn’t charge on it. 🤔 just never now with psa . both I was thinking 8’s or I wouldn’t graded them . But they’re for my collection, so I’m happy to have them slabbed. They only had 1/19 in the new , now old heavier slab . I do like them too
Can I ask how long the order was in assembly? Have three orders in with PSA (all sent at different times) that are stuck in Assembly. One of the orders has been stuck in assembly for 3 weeks now. Can anyone shed some light on why…I have never had an order stuck in assembly that long.
Thanks for the feedback…had I finished watching until the end of the video…you even talked about assembly being slow. lol. Unfortunately, I have one that’s been in Assembly for 3 weeks now. Fingers crossed it pops today?!?!
The forward pass was legalized in 1906 for all intents and purposes. Part of the effort to cleanup the game, by the eastern powers & teddy Roosevelt. However like most things in life the story is slightly more complicated.
Chick Hafey is also the only hall of Famer from Berkeley CA and first hall of framer with glasses. You joke but I need that Ken McMullin for my 1963 Topps Dodgers team set. Pete who?
Great reveal guys! Congrats to both of you and enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing. Pretty much cards I can only dream about, but still love seeing them slabbed or not. Great additions to your PC as well. Especially love the Lloyd and Paul Waner and Pie Traynor, 68' Rose as well as the Mantle Stand-up and the 72' Mays is amazing. Who am I kidding? I just love all cards, period!....lol 👍👍 and ✌out
33:45 "I don't think Nat Holman is anybody notable." Oof. Just Oof. You are wrong again, Chris. As a coach, NCAA and NIT titles in the same year. Never done before and virtually unlikely to ever be done again. But not notable. Certainly not in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. C'mon, you can do better, even in a sport you may not care about.
Yea, Kurts card care fixes so many of those flaws easily. Quite a shame that the card industry hates on perserving them that way, unlike in the comics world.
whats the 1972 topps willie mays in action or allstars selling for? let me know if you get a chance. also do you guys just sell for cash only type trades or you guys also do trade also. thanks for the history and information of this hobby and letting the hobby community with these updates on this video. nicely done.
There is one rare but significant downside to intentionally sending cards at a lower level/declared value. If PSA damages it they will only reimburse what you list as declared value. Damage typically happens during encapsulation so grades have been assigned, but it doesn’t matter what it graded. If you put a declared value oft $500 on the 72 Mays that’s all you’d get. If you put $300 that’s all you get. I’ve had it happen to me and got burned, so for big cards I always send at the likely level and enter in the max declared value. Great video guys!!
Will be a fun experiment now that SGC and PSA are under the same umbrella if those recolored cards come back as authentic altered or not. That 63 Rose goes into the rarely spoken "one of the ugliest looking psa 2's you'll ever see" haha. Been a fun colab to watch with two very different hobby voices mashing up on this great steal of a buy you boys came upon.
A Pinhole PSA 1 is a great place for people to get into some cool old Vintage. Better condition than it's grade usually and a reasonable price. As someone who isn't that versed in Vintage, I love seeing all the different sets and learning more. Also, what is that dual auto booklet on the back Right of the screen Mike?
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the additional cards to come. Thanks for providing the information about PSA not upcharging even if the card value is well above the threshold.
The Dynamic Duo! Curious to see how SGC grades the PSA rejects. Those 1971 Ryans look sharp! Ted Lyons is tied with Walter Johnson for most years pitching with one team (21). Chris trying not to say "McMullen rookie".
@@BaseballCollector thank you but I like the PSA 6 ,the one with stain I would look at they love to threw a curve once while it looks to good. Can't afford 8 right now.
Nice cards! I don’t agree with PSA upcharging, however, PSA is pretty good about not over-upcharging. I never really mind when they do it because the card value is typically well over the minimum value range for the upcharge.
I think PSA over rejects 71s due to the difficulty in them staying nice. You would thik they would look into that and maybe ease the restrictions or change how they look at that year due to the issues it has. I just got a Blyleven raw and it was super hard to find one that wasn't overly chipped or corner dinged. Finally fond one and it was miscut but the other issues were minor. I collegect ray and want nice eye appeal so it worked. But that year is super hard.
My experience with up charging is you can get away with it if you're spending a good bit of money on the order already. And as Chris points out, it has to be a large difference. I always send value bulk and just anticipate an up charge on my bigger cards. Hasn't happened yet.
Man, those Diamond Stars are really good looking cards! Loved that Jackie! Also, WOW, what a grade on that Mays! Thanks for sharing this PSA reveal with us!
Those Goudeys don't even fit in PSA's slabs! WTF... still worst of class. But at least they have oppressive wait times, high prices and dreadful customer service. Sorry they devalued your nice pickups with those bogus grades.
I recommend using Do Not Disturb mode on your phone when using it for filming.

The minimum size requirement of PSA is hated by ALL collectors! Why won’t they EVER remove this terrible requirement?
Moynihan rules!!!
38:53 "You gotta play up to your audience." Well, then learn more about basketball. Just a suggestion.

The sideways Hornsby is in the 33 Goudey set.
You’re right John. My bad
That Mint 9 Mays is so sharp. Definitely would have be graded a 10 if submitted before 2019.
Great guys! Thank you for sharing. It's been fun to see
Love the 35 National Chicles

Rose will get in after he and Johnny Bench are dead. Just my opinion.
Great reveal guys!
@overwhamming Just my opinion, not anything JB has done its just basically a feel.
@overwhammingBecause Rose is NOT one of Bench's favorite teammates. Go to Vegas & bet against Bench helping Pete get in the Hall.

I recently sold that Diamond Stars Bill Dickey for $195.00 in an SGC 1.5, it is a very nice card!
I heard that the “flow line” issue mainly impacted modern cards. So anything older didn’t seem to have any issues with the lines.
I have been up charged before. And then the card came back altered. So I had to pay more for a no value card...it sucked!!
Really awesome sub guys! That Robinson looked incredible for a 4! Wow
Re-colored the Earl Averill? Where...how...why? You two took that a lot better than I would have.
The min size may be that they are too flat like squished. Kurts card care fixes those all the time.

Keep the PSA reveals coming, did you send the Larry Csonka rookie card in for grading ?
We did. Still waiting on that one.
All great cards but my favorite is the Lombardi. I’m on the hunt for that one. Thanks for sharing and take care!
Great color and registration on the Diamond Stars. So often they have brown spots and these look very clean.

Yes, I waited this long! lol Thanks Mike and Chris!
Nice order
When was the first one done on The Grail PSA #1 what date on RUclips?
May 14th on this channel.
@@BaseballCollector thanks
Great reveal. Love those Diamond Stars and that Mantle Stand-Up is fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to share!
Thanks John
Chris is an awesome collector/dealer/investor!
Any of these going to be at Dallas Card Show July 4th weekend
No. Because I will not be there.

Are you bringing some to the National
Not likely but you never know
i am interested the psa 6 seaver 1970 topps
Already sold. Sorry
@@BaseballCollector i tired year i was born
I still have the other two if you want either of those?
@@BaseballCollector thank you but I like the PSA 6 ,the one with stain I would look at they love to threw a curve once while it looks to good. Can't afford 8 right now.
Price for Holman?
$150. If you are interested, you can email me at gonzaleznut @ hotmail.com. No spaces.
"It's just money"
Mike, I'm interested in the Hack Wilson
Sorry but it already sold.
Psa sucks
Like the 7 Seaver

Is the guy on the right that used to post from his garage? Can't remember his name, but his voice and face seem familiar.
Thanks for the update, lads.👍
Congratulations on the grades, the sales, and to Mike on the new additions to your growing collection.
Been waiting for the latest update on these, love the vintage 👍👑
That was a fun watch. That stand up Mantle was really sharp. Thanks for showing.
Glad you enjoyed it

That Ken McMullen RC is 🔥
You go way to slow with the cards you want to keep. I think Chris was falling asleep.
I agree totally…far too much talking by Mike…would be more interested in Chris’s insights
Wow. At least you guys are honest
would love to buy that 71 topps ryan. congrats!
and that 8 70 topps seaver!
The Ryan is already sold. The Seaver 8 is available.
Chris really doesnt seem to know 30s gum cards. Could use a lesson. That Dickey #103 is a tough card, and a 3 is more like $350-$400
Actually that would be me. Not Chris. I looked up comps and there were no sales so I took my best guess. My bad
