I can't wait to see Chris's financial breakdown when the whole thing is said and done. He needs to combine information from both sellers so he can fully document when the break even point is reached. That is always the fascinating moment - when all of the money (including time/labor) has been recouped and you have all of those wonderful PC cards that essentially come at no cost.
Right here. www.ebay.com/itm/364875702667?itmmeta=01HY0QER6B0Y9DYCAWSANZDWHP&hash=item54f449618b:g:ya4AAOSwTpFmNm7B&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwC8Ts9tbySZr2JtGAQAunnihbK2cvLPxRJ8fiBDLmGq%2B2ha4waSRFUW0IA0RI1HbBXjRmssqfzJjcfvbejF9zbtuHifB%2FOrXToSmVb2v66JxNENt2Q1y5XCFoG5KumaMOf0KuV68ry--1xjvVs6Jel6jeGVL99ptJdHgF8unDxZCFYdfmOV8SIJwUf6%2Fep69zJW8An3Xd2PFqwUj9%2BXOHv2pFsnybiNGYR69frI19B%2F5DvOLFywy3D3CuePXQPDIpw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6aDu5fwYw
I sent in an Ernie banks sub to PSA, 2 came back ungraded. One was minsize, the other was evidence of trimming. I sent them both back to PSA and they both came back graded. The minsize came back a 5 and the evidence of trimming came back a 4. So I dont really know how PSA grades.
I’ll tell you what’s going on with the low grades; PSA will be waiting for you to sell low graded cards, buy them at the discounted price, then their stooge will have them regraded where they will get 6’s or 7’s which they will resell for a big profit.
Awesome video reveal! Couple questions: 1) Are you guys using any other selling platforms besides eBay? 2) Chris, you have spoiled us in your other reveal videos by putting on the screen what value you added by getting the card graded. Wondering if that is something you guys would consider for these?
1) We are doing a lot of private deals actually off ebay. 2) We mention on most of the cards what our thoughts were about what the cards would grade before we sent them in.
Great video fellas. Def some head scratching on many of the grades. Just a FYI… no diff on prices sold for vintage cards w/ nice eye appeal between SGC vs PSA until you get to the 7 & 7.5 grades . I think the PSA registry is the reason for that. Have all the data for 6 key cards. Working on the video now.
I'm having trouble finding relevance with your commentary on value raw, graded, keepers, sell, etc. Perhaps I don't have the expertise to understand, but without the financial information breakdown, I'm finding it difficult to feel anything toward what you've done. From your past videos, I understand you were $120K invested into this collection between 3 people who then divided up the collection. Are you going to create a financial breakdown of what you guys have done featuring the ROI?
Honestly for the money you spend you should be getting the grade the card truly deserves. For how good these cards look the grades given are BS!!!! These grading companies should be held acaccountable. The cards receiving 2's are absolutely ridiculous.
Interesting, I’ve heard many people on utube say SGC hold up or is even better then PSA for vintage and pre-war cards as they are the premier grader of those cards… I just heard u say ur experience is not that way… question.. if u had SGC vintage and pre-war would you suggest crossing them over ? Kinda hard for Mike to say as he only collects PSA cards I guess….
I would say it would depend on your research. If you see that a crossover (assuming you got an equivalent grade) would be of markedly greater value (including the cost of grading) then yes. Although I will say that the few cards in my collection that are in SGC holders I have no plans to cross them over.
I know enough about grading to know majority of these grades don’t make sense. Wouldn’t of been smarter to not submit all at same time. Spread them out to get different eyes/graders looking at them.
would have been better if you both presented in the same format. cant see the cards from Sewall. just something to consider next time. thanks for content. you both do excellent work and it a pleasure to learn from you both!!
Awesome stuff guys! Love the satchel and the lew. Few of the cards seemed undergrad in my opinion. Thanks for putting them on, looking forward to more!
Surface and color/discoloration are main reasons for low grades on these type of submissions. Look at the highest graded examples of a particular card and compare. Regardless, these are great cards that are actually rare. Rare is a word people throw around these days too much.
Beautiful cards - the Johnson is awesome. Congrats Mike. Wow I would have made an offer on that Grove congrats Chris!! The Fox was sweet!!!! Can’t wait to see the Diamonds Stars - maybe I can add one of those to my collection. I don’t envoy you having to part with some of these awesome cards.
Cracks me up that people actually put stock in PSA. They think some seasoned hobby veteran is meticulously inspecting their cards, when in reality, it's some minimum wage mook who doesn't give 2 sh!ts about your cards. Their grading is both inconsistent and irresponsible.
If anyone still doesn’t think PSA is grading tougher in 2024, this video is exhibit A. I’m fine with them grading tougher, but i feel bad for collectors with older PSA slabs. There is a reason they are selling for less on eBay than new slabs, because many in the hobby are suspicious of those grades. Looking forward to all 360 card reveal!
we can't see the cards from these videos, so nobody out there should think they can properly assess a card from the views/videos we see. There could be small wrinkles, lifted corners, etc, that just are not visible thru a grainy video....people see low grades and just assume PSA is grading too harshly...it's nauseating how much complaining is out there...
The begining of your reveal explains to me why people ask why not use sgc i mean some of those grades are 2 or 3 off so if you get a psa 2 but coulda had a sgc 5 then you woulda been better off
@BaseballCollector that's a stupid thing to say when you both thought several were psa 4s that came back 2s if your thinking psa 4 then you know there is an outside chance sgc would be a 5. I know for a fact there have been cards that were a psa 6 or 7 that get sent to becket and get a 9.5
As always, thanks for your transparency, and the great content. Two of the best lads in the hobby! Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the grading goes, and updates on sales. 👍
Mike, this was awesome! What super sweet cards! So cool you guys are able to keep some of them for your personal collections! Congrats on some amazing pickups! 🤯👊
Boy did you pick the wrong video to make this comment on! This video featured many other players: Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Hank Greenberg, Satchel Paige, Nap Lajoie, Ty Cobb, Dizzy Dean and Joe Dimaggio. What more do you want?

Great start to this adventure guys. Looking forward to seeing the next batch
Thanks. We are too.
Awesome cards, thanks for sharing
Thanks Orlando.
Love those tobacco cards ..that era of baseball has always fascinated me. Amazing stuff here
Another great one
Thanks as always.
Amazing cards, fellas, and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
It is indeed Billy.
PSA no longer brings the best prices on pre-war cards.
Fun to watch this whole story progress. I bet it was really hard to not want to keep everything.
Good call on keeping the Lefty Grove.. finally one I think they graded correctly
More reasons NOT to go to PSA. How is the DiMaggio a 2? Seems like they see an order with old cards and just give them a 2 .
@14:34 Angel Hernandez must have graded it.
@9:08 The technical reason is that PSA graders are technical dumb. 😅
The grades seem low. Ugh
Why indeed is the DiMaggio a 2??? Like you a 4 all day.
Surface and color/discoloration
Awesome cards, thanks for sharing
Appreciate you Orlando
Prefer SGC, and would not pay a premium for a PSA card.
Great show and content! Where on EBay would I find the Johnny Unitas RC (min size)?

Maybe its just me but I prefer...oh wait wrong channel! 🤓
Huh?
PSA never fails to disappoint!
We weren't really disappointed. A couple of cards came in lower than we expected but that happens.
oh, i don't know about that one
I sent in an Ernie banks sub to PSA, 2 came back ungraded. One was minsize, the other was evidence of trimming. I sent them both back to PSA and they both came back graded. The minsize came back a 5 and the evidence of trimming came back a 4. So I dont really know how PSA grades.
We are all spinning the wheel when we send them in for grading.
They are pathetic..
I agree many of those were graded pretty tough. There's got to be a sliding scale for when it's more profitable to get a better grade from sgc.
There is, but there is no way to know that you would actually get a better grade from SGC.
Collect the card; not the slab.
I love the Lew Alcindor card! I am working on collecting all basketball 1970 and back
Send Tinker, Evers and Chance to SGC. You got hosed!
I’ll tell you what’s going on with the low grades; PSA will be waiting for you to sell low graded cards, buy them at the discounted price, then their stooge will have them regraded where they will get 6’s or 7’s which they will resell for a big profit.
Wow. That's a conspiracy theory of the highest order.
@@BaseballCollector Hope you like it…but for those low grades on such nice cards, something’s up!
Starts at 3:55 Good they did not give that Satchell a qualifier. Would like them to ditch that.
They have largely ditched the qualifiers.

‘Disappointing grades’ and ‘PSA’ are synonymous when you’re talking vintage. They’re just basically clueless when it comes to these cards.
I'm having trouble finding relevance with your commentary on value raw, graded, keepers, sell, etc. Perhaps I don't have the expertise to understand, but without the financial information breakdown, I'm finding it difficult to feel anything toward what you've done. Maaannnn . Come on. Send those tobacco disappointment grades to SGC. Turn the 4 into 5s... and 3s into 5s.... then they sell for more than psa
The Alcindor is very impressive! Looking forward to more reveals from the grail collection!!! Thanks, guys!
Thanks Tommy.
I may be interested in the satchel Paige. Is it on eBay?
It sold already. Sorry.
would have been better if you both presented in the same format. cant see the cards from Sewall. just something to consider next time. thanks for content. you both do excellent work and it a pleasure to learn from you both!!
Well he didn't have some of the cards in hand so we had to improvise by showing the scans from the PSA website.
Pre war is definitely more sgc. Also doing buy it now over auctions would be the way to go
Hi Mike. Thanks for sharing guys, talk soon my friend.
Thanks Stephen.
The technical issue is pop control. Happens all the time.
Go ahead and send that John Unitas back, or to SGC.
We will see.
I REALLY ENJOYED THE VIDIO AS USUAL BUT I WISH YOU HAD PUT AN ESTIMATED PRICE IN THE GRADE IN WHICH IT WAS GRADED. 😊😊😊😊😊
Sorry. We will do that next time.
Awesome stuff guys! Love the satchel and the lew. Few of the cards seemed undergrad in my opinion. Thanks for putting them on, looking forward to more!
Totally agree!
Good choice on keeping the T207, Mike it’s a great card.
Thanks Otto. I thought so.
Surface and color/discoloration are main reasons for low grades on these type of submissions. Look at the highest graded examples of a particular card and compare. Regardless, these are great cards that are actually rare. Rare is a word people throw around these days too much.

Honestly Brad, that has been the hardest part of this whole thing is coming to grips with having to sell cards I would otherwise love to keep.
Great reveal guys. I would love a foxx
Will let you know Ray when the others come in.

We will.

yet I bet you submit cards to them all the time...typical collector out there who uses them but constantly complains

Thanks Chris. The introduction of AI into the grading process has made the grading process stricter.
You can always pay to have it in a new slab before selling it.

I’ve been waiting to see this. I am truly happy for you both. Great looking cards. 🤩
Yay! Thank you!
The begining of your reveal explains to me why people ask why not use sgc i mean some of those grades are 2 or 3 off so if you get a psa 2 but coulda had a sgc 5 then you woulda been better off
There is zero chance that SGC would have given significantly better grades.
@BaseballCollector that's a stupid thing to say when you both thought several were psa 4s that came back 2s if your thinking psa 4 then you know there is an outside chance sgc would be a 5. I know for a fact there have been cards that were a psa 6 or 7 that get sent to becket and get a 9.5
@BaseballCollector the fact that even chris was like maybe I should resend them to psa says they could and should be higher
pop control is wild for sure
Hi Mike and Chris. My two favorites are the Greenberg and Grove. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Jim.
are those the new psa slabs?
