- Did my first run in the Adidas Adios 9 this morning! This video is a more updated and refined version of my video yesterday where I shared my initial impressions. I will now test them for more runs like threshold and update you guys on what I think after running 100km in the shoes!

can't wait to try. adios 8 was my favourite recovery shoe - and interval shoe. (3:20/km-5:00/km)
Exactly the two types of runs I like to use it for!
evo sl lsp is the same as AP3, while Adios 9 lsp is the next gen lsp used in AP4
I knew that A9 and AP4 have same LSP but didn’t know ESL LSP was same as AP3 so thanks for the info!
Would this be good for daily wear? I tested the Adios 8 and really found it surprisingly comfortable, roomy, and stable, especially because of its extended heel. However with the 9 the heel is now tapered and narrower so I'm questioning its stability. Torn between getting this or the Evo SL as I plan on using them both for running and occasional daily wear, although I'm more inclined to get the Adios 9 for faster paced work as I already have the NB SC Trainers.
I learnt or realized quite a bit about cadence... Thank you! And good review too! Subscribing now :)
No probs and thanks for watching!
i always double knot, highly recommended
I should start doing so
Also many people did not learn to tie a shoe bow correctly. There are two ways and I discovered a couple of years ago from a TED talk that I was doing it wrong.
You excitement for the adios 9 is quite infectious.
Prior to the Rebel v2 I had several pairs of Nike Streak LT 3 which I used for all sorts of workouts like hill repeats and 400s and 800s on a grass horse track and recovery runs - also a mountain uphill half marathon. I miss those and the related Streak 6/7 a lot.
I have the adios 8 which was an improvement over the adios 7. I have enjoyed them but the heel lightstrike foam is dead, there is an almost absurdly thick slab of continental rubber in the forefoot, and the ground-facing plastic torsion plate thing kind of sucks.
Rebel v2 weighs 220grams in my US10.5. I still run in mine, only have 328kms on them.
Rebel v3 same weight and v4 224grams
Thanks for measuring! This might be useful info for some people watching, hopefully we can all thumb up this comment so it appears higher up in the comments!
@@SotaMaehara also i have the adios 8 as well. Seems we like low stack shoes. They weigh 225grams in US10.5 so it will be a significant drop in weight.
Yeah interesting. In person comparing two US 11's it was hard to tell the difference
Not sure if it’s still available but NB at the DFO here in Melbourne were selling the Rebel V2s for $70 bucks.
Got my son a pair of US8s and he loves it a lot…. (Didn’t realize it was my son’s shoe until the footage of you weighing the green V2s!)
Looks like we might try these Adidas 9s soon as well!
Do I go true to size?
I enjoy your channel a lot. Very useful information and good insights. Thanks. Keep up the great work. 👍 Do you recommend going TTS or going up half a size. I am usually a US 9.5 but got a US 10 for the Adios Pro 4. Should I do the same for this shoe?
Adios 9 vs Adios Pro 3 as interval training shoes? Always informative videos, thanks!
Shorter interval adios 9 for sure. Longer interval pro 3.
I'm a US 10.5 in the Adios 8 and I got this in a US 11. I like the fit but I'm having issues with the heel. This is the first shoe that I bought that created heel blisters. However, I'm still trying to figure out if that is the shoe's fault or the socks. But overall I'm loving the Adios 9. 😊
Please compare the adios 9 with the Puma Liberate Nitro 2
Saucony Kinvara 15 is another good low stack light option! No superfoam, however.
True, forgot I used to wear the Kinvara and loved it!
did my marathon preparation in the adios 7, lots of thresholds and tempo runs in them but the upper only lasted 600km until it was completely broken, never try the 8 but this will be my next purchase. really miss that ground sensation, nowadays use the takumi but feels likes something missing....
I use the streakfly for easy and intervals, but the durability is horrendous. I hope adios9 is that replacement. Would you say the sizing is the same as pro4? That is true2size compared to the older version
Yeah I wonder what the durability for the Adios will be like. Apparently durometer of the Adios 9 and Pro 4 are softer than both of their predecessors
The staff at the store didn’t really comment on the durability, but tbh they seemed a bit clueless
Really lookin forward to the drop in aus wanna try low stack most of mine are 30mm+ and big drop
Yeah hopefully they release in Aus soon - I heard they are delayed there
How the outsole so far?
thanks for your video!!
No problem!
is this the adidas store in Miyashita park? staff their are very helpful compared to other branches I went to lol. Bought the evo sl there too
Yeah it's Miyashita park, they were defs friendly
Hey, cool content. Wondering if they still have the torsion plates?
They are vague on the website, they just mention they have some sort of stiffening agent in the rear half of the shoe which definitely does stop torsion though
However I haven’t had that much adidas shoes so can’t really compare them anecdotally to other shoes
I bought adios pro 3 so I can do easy runs with its long life span
I just did one with new balance rebel V3 I got for clearance out of curiosity and it was the same pace and HR as adios pro 3. I guess I’m getting adios 9 haha
6:10/km pace
When are these supposed to be released in europe?
How would you compare it against the takumi?
Honestly pretty similar. Takumi has slightly more stack height and it has those energy rods, whereas the Adios 9 doesn't. I also really like the Adios 9 upper material though!
I have absolutely no clue if the energy rods actually do anything, very curious to hear anyone else's thoughts if they have tried Adidas shoes with energy rods in it
@SotaMaehara thanks for your feedback! Keep up the great vids 👍
i got takumi sen 10. and i just bought adios 9. will be back here to update.
@@ahyeadisa7819 appreciate it! Let us know once you give them a spin
I think rods helps you a lot with the efficiency of running mechanics. Especially for longer stuff. For very short reps they do not matter.
Might get these instead of EVO SL once my SL2's are worn out. Paired with Superblast 2 and maybe a chilled cushioned shoe like a Nimbus, so that I have a good variation of stacks and shoe types.
Sounds like a great plan! Good diverse rotation
are the sl2s great nit sure if i should get a new pair of shoes soon but they are on my lst
@@hemidoori5049 I really like them as a daily trainer, though the fit of the upper is a bit weird, I had to size up half a size and still not 100% happy with the fit around the toe area. Everything else about it is really nice.
Which store in Tokyo still got sizes? Seems to be all gone online except for the biggest sizes.
I got a 29cm which is the biggest size they stock and I didn’t check what other sizes they have unfortunately
It was Miyashita Park adidas
@SotaMaehara got my 29.5 at miyashita park. Still seems like sizes are available.
Would they be fine for long repeats, like 1mile repeats? or only for short strides?
Yeah this is what I'm wondering, I'll do my Threshold workout tmr in it and report back! But honestly the answer to your question will be more determined by what shoes you've been wearing in the past
@@SotaMaehara Yeah. Normally I use plated shoes (i.e vaporfly) that are no more at their best anymore for races, i.e after 100-150km
Have you tested the Brooks Hyperion 2?
Not yet, how does that compare to the Hyperion Tempo?
@ I don’t know, but should be pretty similar to the Adios 9.
Still not sure got adios 9 or Evo sl 😅
Tricky choice, I honestly want both too haha
Yoyogi Park?
yes
oh this came with a very crappy laces. I changed them to a race lace and they are a gem!
damn shoes look excellent but sadly '3 pairs of shoes are quite enough' - Parents
Haha that’s a rip
sir, do you mind sharing, what camera are you using for capturing footage while running? do you have external audio device connted? thank you!
I just use the Insta360 Ace Pro and I have no external audio connected
