I'm 77 and retired, this video has given me back the distance I had when I was sixty-five . Thank you for clarifying the lift and depth of the backswing. The depth being the biggest help.😅
Hey Eric; Went to the range yesterday to work on some issues that you have addressed with my golf swing. I hit the ball so well that now I have a new set of issues. My seven iron that I normally hit around 140/150yards I’m hitting around 160 plus. I’m excited to get out and play a few rounds. You’re the best my friend. Stay safe!
Great stuff once again. I recently came across your shoulder tilt series of videos and wow, they have helped tremendously. I find now that I'm concentrating more on that shoulder down(tilt) I can achieve more depth. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your help!
Eric I saw somewhere - maybe one of your videos with Marty Nowicki? - that taking the club back on a shallow angle actually promotes a steep swing. I thought I saw that you should take it back steep and then rotate your hands clockwise in order to get the downswing shallow. I have a very steep swing and a shallow take away would probably help a lot but I don't want to mess myself up more. Any thoughts? Love your videos.
Hey Dave! We are talking about two different things there Marty and I talking about SHAFT going STEEP to shallow This is about the HAND PATH Good question and good point...they are much different things The SHAFT going more vertical back can help it come down more horizontal Hands you want working neutral up and in then down and out This is the shaft part you could do: ruclips.net/video/V7V0WU-1dkM/видео.html
Eric for lift what about the concept of the rt arm doing a biceps curl would than not give you sufficient lift? Or do you recommend higher hands than that. Thx
Hey Jeff! Yes thats more or less correct. Lets say we are trying to keep things simple.... Folding the right arm for sure is the main thing that makes the arms lift. Lets say roughly folding right arm to 90* And getting lead arm roughly on shoulder plane That would be a nice place to start
Has anyone signed up for the Cogorno membership? I’m debating on signing up but having difficulty finding reviews. Access to the videos is nice but I’m Wondering how informative the monthly lesson is.
You will love it :) You make a good point....I need to do a better job showing you exactly what you will be getting and how darn good it is!! We are launching a 30 day money back guarantee starting on April 8th if you want to try it out then....if you don't like it you will get a full refund!
@@CogornoGolf thanks for the quick reply. I just signed up for my first month on Skillest and enjoyed the online lesson part. I’m strongly considering switching over to your membership once my month is over.
I would just say those are good checkpoints for depth in the backswing Pec I would say is neutral, bicep on the deeper end and sternum on the less deep end of the spectrum
Hey man! Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I saw that as well! They are great Seems to me when I show the arm working in from setup to right leg thats the same 8-10 inches they were saying, no? Also where I show there is much more LIFT than in? I actually think we were saying the same exact thing. the part I did not mention here (which I did all all previous depth videos is that the body turn is the king of the hill and responsible for 80-90% of depth vs pure adduction of lead arm) Maybe I nee to communicate better but I thought myself and AMG said the same exact things
@@CogornoGolf It's just that the down the line view is useless and deceptive re "depth". When you said hands outside shoulder at top, though that might be seen from down the line, it means nothing because the amount of shoulder rotation is not detectable from that view. And shoulder turn will determine where the hands are seen to be. It's just not a good idea to ever think of tbe hands behind the shoulder because they never are in a good swing. The hands are always between the shoulders relative to a perpendicular line from shoulder line. From down the line this can appear that the hands are behind the right shoulder depending on view angle and amount of shoulder turn. I know you know what I'm trying to describe. I just think it's a bad idea for people to use the down the line view referencing "depth". Too much depth is much more common than too little. You know I love you brother but I just think this lesson went sideways and could be done better.
Appreciate the feedback man! I do not agree with you that using 2D from down the line for references in useless. But that's OK---we are allowed to disagree. I understand exactly the point you are making. Life goes on :)
Lol! Both great players! I'm cool with more internal trail shoulder for sure as an option (even though I didn't discuss here) ruclips.net/video/cKz2-yn5R2o/видео.html

With all due respect Eric, be careful with how far you suggest one should take the hands back. If you go beyond the right shoulder, all kinds of problems can result. It’s an optical illusion what you’re seeing; trust me or get gears. Three dimensions are very important obviously and the camera can only provide two.

Oh man, the lead arm/hands following the 4:00 alignment stick is GOLD. Noticed right away it got me in a great top-of-backswing position.
Hell yeah!
Best instruction I've found out on the web. THANK YOU! So many helpful tips and drills. You're a lifesaver ERIC C!
Appreciate it and appreciate you being here with us Shane!
This video is gold. Those checkpoints are so helpful. Way to simplify things.
Appreciate---hope it serves you well!
I really appreciate you. Started playing last spring after daughter's passing. Learned so much I'm playing 18 for first time this weekend. THANKS
Glad to hear it has helped Preston...I hope you and yours are doing well. Golf is a great game to take up! Good for the mind, body and soul. Patience!
Another clear video. Certainly helping me to understand the backswing
Appreciate it!
I love the 4 o’clock stick. Never seen that before 🏌️♂️👍
Thanks, John!
I like it as well as a reference. More on the 4 oclock here:
