- This is Judy, two days after her 14th birthday. Recorded Friday, June 12, 1936, this is her earliest Decca recording available.
Written by Edgar Sampson, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, and Andy Razaf, Judy is backed by Bob Crosby and his Orchestra. This record was intended to promote Judy's popularity as MGM tried to discover film vehicles for her. This record features "Swing Mister Charlie" as its b-side, and if requested, I'll post that.
What a voice! There has never been a singer since!
Judy did not record for Decca until over a year later. This was her last Decca recording session done in New York until 1945.
Could you believe she was only 14? She had an incredible voice!+
Watch Pigskin Parade, 1936. She has 3 songs and just blows the roof off the joint!
Magnificent. Greatest female singer of all time.
That jazz lick in her voice at the end is pure gold!
Those are all such beautiful pictures of Judy.
Never knew Judy did this. It's great!
Just smooth sweet classic Judy
All that jazz by Judy The Queen. Overworking, postnatal depression, drugs and heavy smoking cut her marvelous life short. She was having a ball while balancing on the rope over the Great Canyon singing, dancing and acting throughout all her lifetime
Judy with no dear and regres stopped at the savoy jumper Down at Carnegie hall and brought Down the MGM house by storm while burning her candle at both ends. I can't wait
to meet and dance with you dear somewhere over the rainbow.
Hopefully anyway.
Cheers !
I don't know when in 1936 she sang this, but if it was before June 10th, she was 13, after she was obviously 14. Judy was the best alto in the world at 12 years old. Hard to believe, but, true.
Judy shows what was already a great singer!
Sometimes with jazz songs I hear the instrument versions before the earlier lyrics versions. Then I hear the singing/lyrics version and the song just gets way more meaningful. Awesome
What a good song to listen to during the depression! Who needs a job when you can listen to this all day.
What an enchanting human being. And she could sing, too!
One of my favorites. Her voice was stunning.
One of my favorite early Judy songs.
Encore ! Magnifique ! Encore !
Lovely, brings back memories when I used to listen to Judy on the radio in England. I had this 78 record, it was on the back side of something or other.
Love you Judy
This is a real woman I love this beautiful lady 😻❤
Thank you for putting up this vid. and reminding us that music used to have a melody, and singers SANG!
I LOVE this song! My new favourite! And Judy is amazing. Shes my idol =D
Recorded on my birthday. :) I love Judy Garland! Just Phenomenal!!! XD
Gosh that girl was precocious, and swinging so sweetly!
Thank you!
I finally got it now, which is great
I love listening to it
The premiere singer of our time.
DIVINE JUDY THE QUEEN !
I've heard the instrumental version of this song innumerable times, but this is the first time I've heard the lyrics. And it's a hard song to sing, with the word "savoy" so close to the next line each time.
Now we know what was coming- eow the very best ever!
What a voice.
Love the photo at 50 seconds
do adore this song~ :)
Amazing song, brilliant voice, and fantastic pictures! Ultimate thumbs up from me!
Does any body have this song on mp3 by any chance? Or is there a website I can download it from, please? Thank you so much :)
I love judy too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@112ALONE But Swing was a worldwide phenomenon! Harry Roy led an orchestra, and he was British. Also it's a bit unnerving to find I'm the same age as her when she recorded this.
I love real music.
swingin'!
The young Judy. Bliss.
IMO, Judy had a generosity of spirit that Barbra lacks. That's one reason Judy is so well-loved by her fans. For Judy, it was always about her fans. Not so with Striesand.
alittlestrength Difference between generosity, and self-absorption.
I am addicted to "play again" button
the only problem with judy was that she lost her father when she was 12 years old. her life would have definanlty taked a different route had he not. damn shame. i love judy and always will.
Joanna Rimmer But she turned her suffering into beautiful music that eased, and still eases our pain t'day in 2019.
& no Judy, I'm stomping at the Ritz.
chick webb!
Shame everyone only remembers her for the Wizard of Oz.
Boy are you UNINFORMED.
@@a.jlondon9039 That is a very untrue remark, BNSF
good to be 14 :D I would also like to sing so :D
@GDM34000 actually it's PUTTIN' on the Ritz. By the way that is a really good song!!!
AngelaSings See Randy Rainbow do Puttin and da Ritz, and his other parodies
