I’m sorry to hear of your struggle, Arthur - but not of your courage. Powerful comment born of powerful experience it sounds. May you find all you need and the strength within to bear under all that comes - as you continue to, surely, brighter days ahead. I wish you well. - Paige
You are so right .. it's the only way that we can keep our ship from sinking in this storm, the storm of life even before the events of this day... For we are not the first to have been tested.. here on Earth... And all of our forbarers have gone to their graves, yay... We must continue it is a mortal commandment from the highest echelon that exists in the universe.. this law of our Father in Heaven... Just strengthen fortitude.. for it is against eternal law to throw the towel in and give up...

Ha, ha, we had one of these poems on the wall growing up, in the form of a motivational poster - for when you can't hear them read by such a great voice.
Thank you for sharing your past with us. And what you said was very true. How was it different for you as a younger person to read the same poem ln later years?
@@Michael-cq7lq I was referring to Desiderata, and I think when I was younger the words carried a tone of almost rebellion, a sort of FU to the "rulers" of society, a kind of how the world should be. Now they are more about how I should be. Never considered that before, thanks for asking :0)
As someone that was without a father at birth. IF by Rudyard Kipling gives me chills every time I listen to it. I have set my own example of the man I need and yearn to be. I can read this poem hundreds and thousands of times as I have and it still gives me goosebumps. The man I need to be through the good times and the bad. Bad times are here and I am going to pull through with this added strength and wisdom.

Defeat, My Defeat is one of the most powerful poems I have heard in my lifetime; how it resonates deep in my soul; it heals my brokenness and sets my heart at ease. I feel every word.
That William Ernest Henley poem gave me chills! Powerful delivery! Subbed. The most evil trick ever pulled on men was convincing them that poetry was ever unmasculine, when the words of men like Emerson, Kipling and Henley have taught me more about what it is to be a man than I could have learned in a thousand lifetimes.

In full agreement with you, TJ Blaidd. And that is an understatement.. The fact that the word 'masculine' is under a cloud of late is one of the saddest occurrences since sliced bread. Just joking. But I am serious here, so make that '..since the big bang'. Honestly. The idea that striving for some honour, pride and steadfastness is considered toxic nowadays is very very unfortunate. This poetry is so powerful, has so much clout. Perhaps people shy away from it because it is so confronting, such a nose-rub telling you how meagre the catch is that you landed on the shores of the sea that is Life. Then again it must be understood (I think) that 'man' and 'men' oftentimes are metaphors, denoting or connoting 'person' or 'persons'. This is rather obvious. Poetry is all about connotation and implying the unsayable. Furthermore, one-syllable-words have special status in poetry for they are the embodiment of condensement. Also, 'person' is the least sexy word imagineable. Having said that, I vividly recall how a clutch of young teachers at a Department of English in a Northern town in The Netherlands at one time collectively scathingly dismissed the poem 'If" by R. Kipling, predominantly I felt, because of the last line. They also deemed it unbearably jingoistic. My simple take on it is that the last line is universal. An offering to all people. On a side note, I regret beyond measure how I (and many others) completely missed what, in one way or another, was made available to me at high school.

Quitters never win, and winners never quit. Cheaters seldom love, a love that's made to fit. But those who keep going, will never 'er be stopped, for their very life is showing, and sharing what they've got! "Ambition"poem by me.
I listen to these poems when I stay very late after work, it’s a family business and usually get the short end of the stick on doing all the late night prep work for the morning the tedious work no one wants to do. So I go ahead and work without complaining. I listen and hear the poems and think while I work. I try to reflect after my full day of work what went good and how can I fix my faults.
I was fortunate to come across this collection of poems after honestly feeling quite down reading about current events. I've learned of the term doom scrolling which is what I was doing reading one negative thing after another which did nothing but give me a sense of despair. I'm not saying we should be ignorant of events but often times the only news they reaches the public is negative and positivity is ignored. I've decided to doom scroll no more and instead come here and listen to inspiring and thought provoking poetry.
This is Ron Spates and I’m bringing a message of hope! Are you ready to enter the arena of change? Are you prepared to fight the fight of your life for the change of your life? If you been looking around & paying attention to current worlds events and the impact of society than you know there is a lot at stake & time is running out.
People are being taken out left & right, but if you are listening to this message than you have an opportunity & obligation to change. God is building an army of ordinary people the ones that have been forgotten , the ones that have been abandoned & the ones that were not expected to Win! God is looking for new leadership because the old leadership are leading us astray! You know who you are & you are chosen for the mission of change! There’s a lot at stake and people are depending on you to have the courage to ignite change! Are you willing to give it all you got even if you fail! Are you willing to separate yourself from the others to get there? Can you just imagine having everything you ever wanted & it all came from you, you are the master piece of change because you are God’s greatest creations. Believing in yourself and having self confidence in your abilities will be the key to your success. I call upon you all to stand for healing & command change for the greater good starting with self motivation within and bold enough to share it with the world. This is Ron Spates & I live for greatness!])

Great poems written by otherwise great men who lived through the toils and joys of life and everything in between. Younger men especially should read and take to heart the lessons of prior generations of great men who still have lessons to teach and hand down to the present generation and so on..once heard my parish priest say good men live by virtue but great men not only live virtuously but rather influence others to live a life of virtue themselves.

This channel has made my depression tolerable. I think I'm getting better now
Me too. Little by little ha ha ha. ;D
That combination of poetry and music is mesmerizing. Please, by all means, keep doing these kind of videos. Thank you very much.
a very deseperate modern med student. hearing this makes me feel like a soldier of my own dreams and aspirations. a hopeful soldier who's ready to sacrifice herself for the greater good
Quitters never win, and winners never quit.
If more and more people would read or recitals of such poetry, maybe we can listen to the our better angels!
That voice is a Gift of God!

You are a child of the universe,
You have the right to be here
No. You have the obligation to do your best. Listen to the Longfellow poem, and be wise.
The narrator's voice makes the poems even more powerful ❤️❤️
no doughs
Whose voice

One of the best poem recitations I've ever heard and beautiful collection of poems. Thank You. Powerful words of extraordinary poets or say humans......

The conviction in the voice when words are spoken makes this poetry even more powerful. It's like every word that is spoken is spoken from experience and nothing else..
The voice gives it way more effect
Definitely makes it more emotional and impactful. I really wasn’t into poetry before this channel but now I am

My mother kept Desiderata in our dining room when I was growing up. I had forgotten how meaningful it is, as much now as then.

The Narrator is a resident of the City of Sarasota! We've never met, but he is generous and a man of GOD! He read a story about my (Late) (Brother-in-Law)
Didn't finish the first comment! The story was written by his then 14 year old son! We practiced voice on a VO practice site! And he got discovered by an Agency. Mr. Morris, offered advice and assistance to me...A low key guy, he read the story and added background music to the story to add impact of a loss; My wife suffered! It was a Beautiful read, and did it Gratis! He the Narrator , truly has the (VOICE) of GOD!😇
Wow… this really hit hard. That was so so beautiful. It really felt reassuring. To know that life is all about perseverance, and to keep persevering is absolutely everything. I can’t even tell you how amazing that felt to hear. Your struggled shape you, make you stronger, show you that you’re going to make it each time you do.
