I'm a metalhead and this is excellent. Actually being a "metalhead" is just a phase. Most of us end up exploring every subgenre of metal until we start to appreciate a lot more experimental and the weird stuff. To me this is weird as fuck and it sounds good, and because of that I like it.

As an old school metalhead I love this album. She killed it live when I saw her in 2020
I was into pop and electro/dance music long before I ever got into metal, so I like seeing people blend the genres into new and fun things. This has an industrial feel to me though, almost sounds like a Rammstein style guitar riff.
The nu-metal/industrial verse part is like Rammstein, Ghost, and Marilyn Manson all wrapped in one. To combine that with the bubblegum pop hook and math rock outro is fucking awesome

Basically he emotionally abused the fuck out of Brittany Sheets (Mars Argo) while they dated (because that was a thing for a while) and eventually they broke up and had a huge fight over who got rights to the Mars Argo brand and music. Titanic Sinclair moved on to make Poppy, and essentially repeated what he did with Mars to her. I'm not sure if they dated or anything but he definitely emotionally manipulated and abused the fuck out of her too. While Titanic and Mars were having the legal battle over the Mars Argo brand, Poppy sided with him. It was probably because she was scared and wanted to be famous and thought Titanic was her only chance at holding onto her fame. In her recent statement, she admitted that she thought Mars was lying at the time but has since realized that Titanic is a despicable human being. Which is the reason why Poppy and Titanic have split as well and she's taken control of her own brand.
Basically she's just told us that she is no longer playing the character of "an android". Finally!

My theory on the MV:
The mark on her arm is almost like technology, symbolising her Robot persona. She's being led, but in the end she's human again (therefore the arm mark is gone). I think this symbolises the fact that she's finally dropping the character and becoming her human self ❤️

Nice but I think it represents her psychologically programmed self and when it is gone she has been "freed" form the societal conditioning we are all programed by from birth. Poppy's new style is very much like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The movie is pg horror, but it's a very good way to get younger people into the horror genre. Poppy is almost like pg metal. Her unique blend of pop, electronic and metal is a great way to get pop fans to listen to and appreciate heavier music. I love it

In a weird way, I feel like the man in the robe and the "pale horse" could certainly represent death, and in relation to the entire "trapped" situation, maybe Poppy has finally realized that life isn't long enough to live under what somebody else wants from you. In defying control, she is taking back her entire fate, and symbolically, from the hands of death himself, or perhaps how T.S. was killing her sense of spirit. Her black clothes of mourning contrast with the white of a "new" Poppy, and jumping down the well and staying in pods shows how, though she has escaped, she still needs time to hide and recover with herself. Really, I think this video shows what a big step this entire self-discovery has been in her life.

Yeah! My wife took me to see Bring Me The Horizon a couple months ago and Poppy opened.......I knew nothing about her and assumed she was some corny, annoying Pop girl, I was surprisingly entertained! I grew up listening to Thrash/Speed Metal, Metalcore, Hardcore, Symphonic Black Metal, etc,
I mean my main taste is metalcore/deathcore/hardcore and shit but I also listen to tons of other stuff lol but I've listened to her since before she started implementing metal. Love the way she does it tho as long as it doesn't sound like a Babymetal rip off like she has in a few songs. If she keeps to her own style like this she's awesome.

Why do I like this so much.
I really think she's underrated and will forever live behind her Internet fame. But she went from country songs to whatever her anti-pop pop song phase and to metal.

Poppy just keeps getting better and better!! She reminds me of young Gaga, when she came into the scene and changed music by shifting thru different sounds . Poppy might not be the biggest pop star , but she's definitely a pioneer and I feel like 2020 will be her decade since her music is so far ahead . This is just my opinion from experience.
I really can't describe myself with words now. Poppy is my #1 artist and Ghostemane #2 on Spotify in 2019. I think that's enough to imagine my feelings.
