just love that down-the-line shot at 23:00.... so cool, super powerful... SCV is so much fun to watch & listen to... June/July/August can't come soon enough -- see y'all at the Rose Bowl!!
@ 9:24 the Snare do this visual part with their sticks. They also do that visual in 2018 Babylon. Ist that a visual they do in every show or did the stuff just like it and reused it?
That is a visual that has been part of the SCV drumline culture for years. They find a spot in every show to put it! (If anyone else knows more info about this visual leave a comment!)
Anybody know what instrument they're using in the pit that plays off hand motion? I've seen things like it before, but have no idea what's called. Thanks!
That is their Triplet Rolls exercise. It grids a 5 stroke roll after accented check patterns. ** If anyone knows the exact name please comment below! **
They honestly look like the most depressed drummers on earth... I think if you are playing an instrument, you should be having as much fun as you can, help drive that passion!
Great point! There are different ways to show happiness though! This is a video of a drum corps rehearsal and these performers are simply in the zone. It is hot, there are changes being thrown at them, many of them are still getting used to the pace and demands of rehearsal, and the sun is SUPER HOT. Plus their bus was behind schedule that day so they didn't get a lot of floor time (sleep) before coming out onto the field. Fatigue is a big part of the gig as well, so some people are just pushing through the morning. But they're not depressed about it! In fact, many of these performers LOVE this more than anything else and these bits of adversity are the reason they are here. Usually you only see the fun and happy side of drum corps on social media but it takes a lot of hard work (and yes, some bad days) to get the job done. The cool thing is the vibe on this day was actually super positive! Talking with the members after rehearsal was filled with smiles, cheers, high fives, and good, exciting conversation. You're just seeing the rehearsal. Another thing to think about is the fact that a lot of people mistake relaxation of the face as a sign of unhappiness when really performers are just conserving energy for the performance. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment!
Omg you can hear the flies at around the 29:00 minute mark with headphones on
This is honestly my favorite SCV show from them.

Anybody know what instrument they're using in the pit that plays off hand motion? I've seen things like it before, but have no idea what's called. Thanks!
That instrument is called a "theremin". Super cool!
Life Goal: Be the director of a DCI band.

What were the things making that electronic sound called?
That is an instrument called a "Theremin".
Oh cool! Thank you
@Micah Lall-Trail How can you have show about electricity without electronics?
@Micah Lall-Trail Ok thunder is a lot easier to imitate with acoustic instruments. How would you imitate a Tesla machine?
@Micah Lall-Trail I was actually referring to the Tesla coil used to produce electric current(ya know, like what this show is about). Not the vehicle.
Bass 3 is one terrifying-looking dude
Will there be a 2016 version in the future?
We did not have a chance to record SCV for the 2016 season. We did Bluecoats and Cadets for 2016!
TheGridBookSeries that's awesome! Love the videos 👌
When are those others being released?
Matthew Reed No release date yet, stay tuned!
As a hardcore Bluecoats fan, YES!
I didn't think symbols came that beefy
Aero CYMBALS*
Tyler Haskell nice u from boston?
What’s the exercise at 43:50
That is their Triplet Rolls exercise. It grids a 5 stroke roll after accented check patterns. ** If anyone knows the exact name please comment below! **
Ok thank you
Is that a bass countoff I hear?
Yes! The tap off comes from the back of the drill to ensure precise timing for everyone on the field!
Are women allowed to be in their battery?
yes! the last female the was on the line was in 2013. She was on the bassline. And they had a female center in 2008 and 2010
2018 snare!
2018 snare, 2019 snare, and 2020/2021 snare
i've never worn/seen a dynasty harness in person but they look very uncomfortable
Tyler Haskell thicc*
They're actually really comfortable. The drums are heavy though.
if you're coming here from ig, the snare triplet exercise is at 40:01, not that the whole video isn't worth watching
