You did better than you give yourself credit for. You have accomplished so much on this channel, from working on the ground in the shittiest weather conditions installing struts, to plumbing and mason work; all while knowing that 100-200k people would be watching. You’ll easily be able to master manual transmissions.
That is how I taught one of my older sisters how to drive a manual transmission. Right in the high school 🏫 parking lot. Had a 1985 Ford Ranger with a 2.0 l and a 5 speed.
The wife and I saw you guys at the bonfire last night!!!! I’m jealous Sarah got to pet Gus!!!!! Awesome to see you and chris there!! Seriously star struck. So many of my personal favorite RUclips channels were all standing 10 feet away!!! I got to race all weekend and see all my heroes!!! Love Tucson Dragway and love Duct Tape drags!!
That’s awesome that you were there! I wish you came and said hello! Chris and I had such a great time meeting people. We will definitely be going there next year. Glad that Sarah got to pet Gus. What were you racing? We ended up racing the snail. We did not win lol.
My first car was a 1963 club Econoline from my grandfather. 3 on the tree. 6 cylinder 170. Had to put brakes on it before I could drive it. Overheated if driven during the day. Replaced the motor with a long block and drove it to Oregon. Fun van
You guys are a good fun active couple. Love watching the channel whether it's boats or cars. Find a Chris Craft boat, then you'll keep it. And, Jen don't practice three on the tree with that slop. Unless u really like the challenge. If you master that, you could master any manual transmission. They would all seem easy by comparison. Black belt by school of loose bushings.... Scooby van is worth the adventure....
Thank you so much! We both appreciate it. And yes, learning on a sloppy shifter is hard but I was able to drive another manual this week and it seems like a piece of cake almost. So it probably was for the best to learn on something difficult.
I love it when young folks drive older cars. Look this is the way it was in my early days. they were slow HOT and overheating most of the time. I am surprised you didnt overheat a few times. An unrestored van like that still working is just not the same as a newer car.
Great van! Great video! Chris, Dude, why don't you have Jen cycle the gears while standing still, so she knows where they are. Trying to learn that in motion just makes it harder. Oh well...Jen will get the hang of it! Love the Gus-man!
you are such a sweet and kind loving girl !(rare) the way you cared for that honey bee was something I have never seen before !! Chris is a very lucky man, I hope he cares for you as much as you cared for that little honey bee.....
You're right about the big empty parking lot. Using one vehicle until you get a shifting pattern down, when to shift and when the clutch starts to grab helped me to learn to drive a manual transmission car. Looks like your doing great. Practice is all you need.
Just found your channel, so glad I did. I LOVE your van, it will be beautiful once you have given him your love & care, a fantastic classic. You did brilliantly with the manual gears. I also love Gus & Turbo. Wishing you all health & Happiness and safe travels
Three on the tree is a lot of think about when you are just starting out. You did great. That's a cool old van. I love these adventures with the three of you- good times!
After I watch you and Chris’s videos I looked that old Ford to learn more about them and see different versions… etc. There is a version of yours but it’s a pick up truck for sale near me! I think yours is way cooler, but I never would have thought that had a pick up truck version of that van. It looks weird and crazy! Great content guys, I hope you two have fun at the Races here in a bit!
AH, the 60s don`t you just love the simplicity of everything about the Ford Econoline van, the safety brake, winglets, motor at your finger tips, heating top to cook on and if your sleepy just pull over & crawl into your bed...what more could a young couple ask for kids.. That Ford Econoline van was what we were amazed to find at the end of the Marrakesh express to rent well sort of...it was a good thing that your wify is cajun and speaks french & for 300 francs wallah...Ford is a world wide product and we loved going thru the Moroccan desert to Tangiers and finally to Fes and of course we all know " you never do it without your Fes on"...Loved that Van and love your Dacshund we had red Hans "Stuckie" Stuck the famous German racer he even won a couple of them hot dog races even...love the car wrenchin,Padna keep on truckin
This was actually very entertaining. Plus I love those old vans. Everybody wanted one when I was in high school. And you did fine. For driving a three speed. Most people have a pretty tough time with it and being in the condition it’s in. So you did good
This truck was originally a Bell Telephone Company service van from the middle 1960s. I had a high school friend that bought a Ford van exactly like this one in 1971(?). It was military flat green. I want to say his van was a 1965 with an inline 6 cylinder motor, a “3 on the tree” manual transmission and already had 100K miles on it. He paid like $700. for the truck. I was unimpressed… I thought he bought a high school shitbox as a daily driver for a few months. Well the Dude drove that van for over 150,000 miles!! He had it for well over a decade! That ugly van was an awesome vehicle! He drove it to Colorado and ski bummed out of it. It went across the country several times. He drove it to Mexico with a couple of friends. He used it as a work truck for years; which was its original function. He drove that van for 12+ years and sold it with 250,000 miles on the clock and it was still running great! Your Ford van may not look like much, but it is an EXCELLENT vehicle! Its over 60 years old and still running strong! I knew several people that had these trucks, all loved them. They were around back in the day, all former Bell Telephone service vans, always military flat green. These vans were cheap to buy and run, easy to repair and were durable, dependable, utilitarian transportation. This was an excellent score; you’ll see. This video was a trip down memory lane.
Hello Chris & Jennifer, love going on these adventures with you two and the Guss-Man. I was thinking this van could have been purchased new by the defense department or forestry, it just has the look, also the front doors have had something painted on them, but has been sanded off, round circle on both front doors. very cool classic van that runs and sounds solid, with attention from Chris, the few mechanical issues will be gone soon enough. You stay safe & healthy, job one is to bolt down both seats securely & install seat belts please. 😎👍👍👍
Another excellent vehicle, looks like a former phone company van. Great trip footage Gus on the plane in the carrier is beyond adorable! A well edited video, like always. Travel safe.
Thanks so much! And yeah, Gus on the plane is really cute. It’s hard not to smile at him when he’s in his little pet carrier looking up at us. If they would let us keep him on our lap we would’ve preferred that but hey, they have Protocol to follow. He’s a good travel dog though. Such a trooper
Jenn will get better with manual transmission, the more she practices. To drive a stick is all about experience. The best place to learn is an empty shopping Mall parking lot. Chris is patient and a wonderfully calm teacher.
Hi there Jen, Chris and Gus I am finally getting to watch one of Jens’ videos totally enjoying. FYI sealed oil generally doesn’t have any expiration date. Love the van “ The Mystery Machine “. Gus is the the best. Take care.
Much Appreciated for the Driving Lesson Chris I'm learning too, don't worry Jennifer I'm as Nervous too you're doing great keep it up if you can drive that Van Confidently you can drive anything good Luck,
Awesome adventure back to Arizona...I had a chuckle with the quart of oil..My family owned Napa stores and I grew up with oil just like that you had a spout specifically made for the can and was a simple operation to add it. I also remember as a youngster putting up stock that they came in cases of 24...I was a little saver and every dollar I earned I saved for college and was actually able to pay for it all. The van has a cool vibe and would look so awesome with a Mystery Machine Wrap on it. Great content as always and get in there and shift away we all know you can😊😎🇺🇸🛠️🤠
Looks - sounds - smooth runner. I remember when we made these into rolling bedrooms... OMG those were the daze. Gus is the best the shots of him in the plane was priceless he sure loves and trusts you. Thanks "No Nonsense Know It All's" Just Kidding Love Ya.
Fab video as ever Jen. Probably not the easiest vehicle to get used to a manual gearbox so fair play to you for trying. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from North Wales 🏴 UK xx
Great find -- I've loved that year ever since I was a boy. You can make it like new and it'll have another life. You can push out your dent with a bumper dolly.
Oh wow! Three on the tree is going in the deep end. Four on the floor is kinda normal, standard stuff, where once you master it, you can drive anything. Column shift patterns are not the same across all brands, so the next one you try will probably have a different layout on the gate. This is about to be FUN. I almost never drive an automatic, but this would still take me some time to adapt to.
Jen I saw 2 of these van's where just as ruff & old. One van was down the road at my mom friends house. & second van was at a house 45 mins for my house. I got to start a white 1989 Ford Econoline 250 that had a 300ci 6 cyl in line engine. I pumped the gas once & it started right up. ford made strong 6 cyl small blocks.
So Jen, you did great. My wife was 30 when she got her license (lived in a city until she met me 10 years ago, never needed a car), and my old clapped out Accord was the only available car when our kid was stuck in the middle of nowhere at a friend's house, couldn't get an uber to save our lives, and the Honda is a stick. If it was anything other than a Honda, she'd have destroyed my transmission, because she absolutely "Honda shifted" every time. Honda manuals are built really sturdy and can take super hard shifting. I'm talking Fast & the Furious every single gear change. You treated that old Ford 100x nicer, be proud of yourself because you can now have modern day anti-theft.
Jen, Chris, Gus…Another Great trip. Thanks for sharing. That is the sloppiest shifter I have ever seen. If Jen can drive that, she can drive anything! My Dad had a 63 and a 65 Econoline. I learned to drive in the 63 van. When learning, you must learn to look forward and not down at the road. In these vans, you can “Really” look down at the Road! Either my brother or I had to sit on the motor. That was the Hot Seat!
Good eye you old fart... my '64 Falcon was a Pac Bell fleet car and it was that olive color too. JK, mrbill8542... SNL Mr. Bill claymations were a gas...
I had a 1964 Econoline Pickup truck. Looks the same as the van, but with a factory pickup bed and a ballast weight under neath to keep it from nose planting when you hit the brakes. We put in a 300 inline 6 cyl. Still had the 1 barrel carb, automatic trans, and a set of adapter to use factory rims from a 442 Olds. It was a fun truck. the battery mounts behind the seat, the master cylinder is under the driver's floorboard. Fun truck. I like that the front wheels are behind you, and it will surprisingly pull a U-turn in some of the smallest streets
Great show watching Chris master his challenges with his intelligent deep knowledge..and Jen with her beauty...clever witty sarcastic comments that makes for a very entertaining show..she has a sparkling personality 👌
I like your little Van that is set up cool with the fancy steering wheel and shifter it's a great thing to challenge yourself to learn new things and driving a 3 on the tree not very many people can say they've driven one but keep it up and you got this. Nick is there to help guide you through the challenges. I watched his video but I enjoyed this one the most. Don't get discharged just start again and the next thing you know you are proficient and enjoying the ride. Have a fun trip.
Hi Jen... nice work editing all your hubby's bloopers yes?! not to many verbal mistakes of course 😂 Nice new Jen Sugent as in Ted nugent right?! Wango tango!
You did real good Jen! Was taught to drive a van using the Smith System of Driving - AIM HIGH when driving a van! I learned stick shift at work (4 on the floor), I either sank or swum to get back to the pole yard at the end of the day. Did a lot of gear grinding, but I learned. Bought a 4 speed MGB after that because I was so confident.
Gurl! You're doing great! Chris will fix the clutch and the gear change and those two jobs alone will transform the bus. I'm sure there's loads of other things to do too. Each one will make it easier. Keep at it Jen. 🙂
That oil can we use to open them with a insert able nozzle, it had a blade that slid into the top. That is cool, I don`t know if they sell those nozzles anymore. You probably already knew that. lol Love your channel!
You did better than you give yourself credit for. You have accomplished so much on this channel, from working on the ground in the shittiest weather conditions installing struts, to plumbing and mason work; all while knowing that 100-200k people would be watching. You’ll easily be able to master manual transmissions.
I really appreciate that, Steven!! It really means a lot to me to have your support ❤
Jen did great. Parking lot idea is a must for any man or woman learning manuals.
That is how I taught one of my older sisters how to drive a manual transmission. Right in the high school 🏫 parking lot. Had a 1985 Ford Ranger with a 2.0 l and a 5 speed.
Thank you. The less cars around the better in my opinion when learning manual.
I’m thinking that odometer has seen 000000 more than once. Great video.
Omg poor Gus. He was so sweet and good on the plane. Those eyes
What a formidable lady, and with a beautiful singing voice..
I have a whole new level of respect for you Jen. Your willingness to jump in and get your hands dirty is admirable!
The wife and I saw you guys at the bonfire last night!!!! I’m jealous Sarah got to pet Gus!!!!! Awesome to see you and chris there!! Seriously star struck. Excellent Video, You Both Are Great Together, The Pooch Is Hilarious, Giving That Old-Ford Another Shot At Life, Way To Go!!
No doubt Gus is awesome and funny he is a cool doggy
That Van is AWesome and I love the Exterior color fade......DO NOT CHANGE IT!!!!!!
👍👌👏 I know that I already mentioned it several times but I simply love this cute little Gus 💚. He is soooo adorable.
Jen u did beyond excellent!! And thank u for saving that future honey bee. 🐝
Thank you for the time it took you to film and upload this, Jennifer. It's appreciated.

they were bad when they were 10 years old so at this point lucky you made it as far as you have so far. Driving it across country is pretty sketchy.
The Best Adventure/Vacation/Rescue Videos! U Guys Rock! Cheers from Wisconsin!
Boy, brings back memories! Dad had a tv store back in the 1960's and had a van just like that one as his service vehicle. Was pretty cool!
Great van! Great video! Chris, Dude, why don't you have Jen cycle the gears while standing still, so she knows where they are. Trying to learn that in motion just makes it harder. Oh well...Jen will get the hang of it! Love the Gus-man!
Hope you got some scooby snacks for gus, daphne did a good job driving the van.
you are such a sweet and kind loving girl !(rare) the way you cared for that honey bee was something I have never seen before !! Chris is a very lucky man, I hope he cares for you as much as you cared for that little honey bee.....
Wow!!! 😊 I didn't know you could fly with your dog with you. Gus must have been real quiet 🤫 😊.
Gus is the absolute best.
Nice video. I've got a '63 Econoline van and a '65 Falcon Station bus. Guaranteed to get a lot of attention where ever you go. Fun to work on, too.
Looks like a great trip. I watch both videos. You and Chris always find the hidden gems. Just like how Chris found you 🥰😉
It might be argued on between the twosome to know who saw whom first. But I agree Jen is a gem...
That Scooby Van is Awesome.... But Gus still steals the show lol.
You're right about the big empty parking lot. Using one vehicle until you get a shifting pattern down, when to shift and when the clutch starts to grab helped me to learn to drive a manual transmission car. Looks like your doing great. Practice is all you need.
yes especially if it has issues.
your husband is a solid man. he keeps things fixed so everyone can stay happy good guy.
Love to watch both of you and Gus live life to the fullest
Y’all are doing great. Thanks for sharing your awesome adventures. Blessings.
I love the van such a cool retro look And the fridge is a classic as well
Just found your channel, so glad I did. I LOVE your van, it will be beautiful once you have given him your love & care, a fantastic classic. You did brilliantly with the manual gears. I also love Gus & Turbo. Wishing you all health & Happiness and safe travels

Until today, I did not realize how much I liked the color blue. Yeah, was in the USAF 21 plus years. :)
Well said.
Great job Jen.. The more you drive it, the easier it will become !

Jen needs to want to be better operating a manual, I think Chris is pushing her a bit much.
Love watching you all. You did great Jen. And makes great videos.🥂🍸
Glad you like them!
Hello Jen , Chris and Gus! Good Job Jen , that is a pretty cool old Van and it looks SOLID! 👍
Hi there Jen, Chris and Gus I am finally getting to watch one of Jens’ videos totally enjoying. FYI sealed oil generally doesn’t have any expiration date. Love the van “ The Mystery Machine “. Gus is the the best. Take care.

Last registered in '75 I graduated high school in '75. Cars were so much cooler back then.
always liked the 1 gen COE Ford E100 vans...those 3 on the trees transmissions are ez to learn
Jen you really do a good job with the manual box. Thanks for the stories of your wonderful adventures. Glad I found your channels!
Great job on the 3 on the tree. It will be second nature soon. I think you and Chris need to turn this van into a cool, retro, reliable daily.
You two are great, don't ever stop❤
Fab video as ever Jen. Probably not the easiest vehicle to get used to a manual gearbox so fair play to you for trying. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from North Wales 🏴 UK xx
Fun video. Got to see the trip from both of your guys pov
Great find -- I've loved that year ever since I was a boy. You can make it like new and it'll have another life. You can push out your dent with a bumper dolly.
Jenn your doing a great job by the time you get back home you be a pro . Great video.
Cool video Jennifer, Chris and gus, you did well driving driving ole gail the snail with the guess a gear shifter and no power steering 😎👍👍👍
I drove a standard from 15 until I was 70 and I would never have attempted to drive that thing the way it was. You rock girl.
You guys should so wrap that thing in a Scooby Do theme. Love your guys adventures.

Great vlog. Awesome work trying out 3 on the tree especially that messed up linkage, seriously. Great music too! Keep up the great work.
Thanks a ton!
Thank you for your APPRECIATION to your subscribers Jen
That gearbox is an adventure in it's self 😜
Good job Jennifer driving the van for your first time😊
Thank you for saving this van...I have been a 2% since 1970
Sweet! i'll even spray paint THE Mystery Machine and waves on it for one of Chris's E-Bike! 😎
Looks like an old Bell System phone truck to me The color is right and the small round decal on the door is too !!
Good eye you old fart... my '64 Falcon was a Pac Bell fleet car and it was that olive color too.
JK, mrbill8542... SNL Mr. Bill claymations were a gas...
I recall all at&t vehicles that color green.
Great show watching Chris master his challenges with his intelligent
deep knowledge..and Jen with her beauty...clever witty sarcastic comments that makes for a very entertaining show..she has a sparkling personality 👌
I know these Vans really well. There is Vent Tube on top of Gas Tank that is probably dry rotted and the Vent Window has Push Button to Open. Enjoy!
I like your little Van that is set up cool with the fancy steering wheel and shifter it's a great thing to challenge yourself to learn new things and driving a 3 on the tree not very many people can say they've driven one but keep it up and you got this. ❤Gus❤ So Handsome and wish we had one of your brothers or sisters to give tons of love too ❤
Ha. I just watched a VVG video and Lo and Behold! There you guys were in line at the Duct Tape Drag race. Awesome!
Hi Jen... nice work editing all your hubby's bloopers yes?!
not to many verbal mistakes of course 😂
Nice new Jen Sugent as in Ted nugent right?!
Wango tango!
Jenn I think you can do anything you put your mind too, love all your videos and can’t wait to watch the next one!
You did real good Jen! Was taught to drive a van using the Smith System of Driving - AIM HIGH when driving a van! That Van is cool !!I hope you keep it !!
I love the Chevy and Ford vans of that era, even though they don't have the creature comforts we are now spoiled by. That will be an awesome shop van!
That oil can we use to open them with a insert able nozzle, it had a blade that slid into the top. That is cool, I don`t know if they sell those nozzles anymore. You probably already knew that. lol Love your channel!
This is the kind of RUclips content I need in my life.
Love the van! I've actually been looking for one for a while. Nice score.
