Good dancing is about the show, and seeing that the dancer is enjoying what they are doing. When this happens it doesn’t looked forced or panicked, and will flow, so it’s easy on the onlookers eye. I have seen many technically correct dancers who are not a patch on those who feel and enjoy it.
Excellent choreography. Very thorough instructions. Simple but concise. Easy to follow. By far, fantastic at teaching all steps. Looking forward to see more of these disco dance instructional videos. Great job and thank you for sharing them!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Jessie Cardona Thanks for the feedback Jessie, it’s great to hear that I can make a contribution to someone’s special event. Just enjoy the dancing and the evening. PS get a lot of feedback from our American friends, great to see it’s still big over there, although it’s just as popular in the UK when I teach it here.!
What a wonderful choreographer! You have simplified all the steps. I love this song but had failed to master the dance in the video. Now I can do it. Keep it up sir🥰.
Dude, you're a great instructor. Thanks for the excellent course in refreshing my wife's and my memory on doing this Night Fever line dance. We're practicing for our upcoming cruise and want to be sure we've got all the steps down. Use to do this in the 70's. Well done Derek. BTW, we were both from Brooklyn, NY!!
Bob Lewin . Thanks for the comments Bob, great to know you enjoyed the video, and hope you and your wife wow them on the cruise. It’s still a show stopping routine. Also good to know these vids have worldwide value.
This is the best and beautiful detailed instruction! Thank you, you explain very well and detailed. Whatching the movie you will see on the cross step at the end, turning direction, they put the knee up at 4.
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. Well spotted on the knee lift. Although the dance turns a quarter turn on that last count in the film , many dance schools kept it to the front as the floors were too crowded to turn and some new pupils found it confusing to start the dance in a new direction. It would be more authentic if you could turn it, but not to worry if you can’t.
You are the best ever!!! Thank U thank U thank U everybody thinks that it’s so easy to just see what they’re doing when it’s not thank you for taking the time to demonstrate properly

I've found this a lot easier than other dance videos, I've always loved disco, Having a back issue at 55, been told dancing will help me, So slowly learning this, Thank You for your video.:)
Glad you enjoyed it Julie. Dance works on so many levels from mental, social and physical to name a few, and I hope this will improve your flexibility and movement.
Wow! Thank you so much, my mom taught me how to dance disco when I was a kid, she always danced with me at family reunions but I have 7 years without dance and I forgot some steps. Excellent !
@@Derekofthedance so happy to hear from you. However there is a quintessential John Travolta step very kicks with a leg and does a movement with his hand and he does this in four directions this is his Hallmark movement. I wonder if you have a tutorial for this move? Do let me know.
Sameep Srivastava Hi Samdeep I think you are referring to the 4 Kick (or flick) Ball Change, that he does when the You Should Be Dancing track is being played, where he turns a quarter turn on each one. I covered the basic KBC movement in the Night Fever vid, where we do 2 of them facing the front, but I haven’t gone any further on the technique as most people find it to difficult and Travolta makes this his own move in his style. I would suggest you take my basic teaching to master the move, then when you get better, look at the film clip, and see how close you can get to replicate it. Hope this helps you. Regards Derek
Thank you! I want to do this with my son at his wedding and I watched numerous videos. Yours was the easiest to follow and learn the steps. The cool British accent does not hurt either!

marvin santiago . Hi Marvin, glad you enjoyed the video and I hope your friends enjoy your next vid. Try loading on U Tube when you feel confident enough to see what reaction you get 👍
I understand the classic "disco point" figure. It was used in the Line Hustle dance - the disco point is where you point your whole arm away from your body in about a 45-degree angle, then you recoil that arm and outstretch it against straight to do that "disco point" again. In the actual line hustle, there are 4 disco points before you do that log-roll/funky chicken/hitch-step-to-kick and back home again to redo the line hustle sequence in a new wall.
Fantastic video, the best one I have seen, easy to follow with great consideration for the beginner, I agree with the suggestion of a mirror image, keep up the great work thank you☺
