For changing table… use a dresser you love and add a changing mat like the peanut. When baby no longer needs it you have a cute dresser to keep in your home!
IDEA! In the guest/ baby room you could remove that large middle cabinet and insert the crib in between the two smaller cabinets . Then add two cute little lamps and use the drawers for baby stuff like diapers , whipes, burp clothes etc. it would make such a cozy little baby area. Maybe add some sweet little curtains over the windows .

Yes, I was thinking the drawers would be useful also.
And you can add cute little picture frames by the lamps and maybe a sweet stuffed animal or little doll depending on the sex of the baby. You could keep to your moody style to fit with the rest of your home.
Definitely a better idea than taking everything out. One always needs storage and there is nothing wrong with the cabinets. Hopefully she'll use what she takes out somewhere else
Get a crib that converts to a bed, a changing table that converts to a dresser, etc. You can also use the coffee grinder for a spice or nut grinder)
IDEA: Put your pillows in space bags that you suck the air out of so they can be stored flat.
I do this! It helps so much with seasonal things!

Maybe you can vacuum pack the pillows. That can save an insane amount of space (also while traveling lol)
Also tip for storing books. Dont push them up against the wall or back of the bookcase and preferably dont store them in front of eachother. Books need airflow to stay good so its better to keep them a bit to the front. This is especially important with old books

I had almost the same setup in my "pre-nursery" room. I just took the doors off the middle cabinet, converted the inside with a custom crib, put beautiful curtains up and inserted some soft lighting for when I needed to attend to my baby.
IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AS A NURSERY CORNER AND AS HE GREW I COULD JUST ADJUST AS NEEDED UNTIL IT WAS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SETUP.
I am so glad I didn't gut the room for a nursery.
I saw someone comment about making that lamp work for the nursery and I second that!! It’s so nice to have a soft lamp in the baby’s room so when you have to get up in the middle of the night or whatever, the light isn’t crazy bright.
Dear MaCenna, I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog today. I have a suggestion for the pillows if i may? Decide which forms you really want to keep. Then decide which covers you know you love and take them off of the pillows. This should narrow done the amount of actual forms and storing the covers will be more organized. Hope this works for you. I was 20 weeks pregnant when I discovered I was expecting my first child! I had been feeling off but it was this time of year when you feel kind of rubbish anyway. What a shock! Preparing the baby’s room really helps to mentally prepare you for the big changes that are coming. I did it with all three of my children and it felt therapeutic ❤ can’t wait to see your nursery
Would the crib fit just where that wardrobe piece is between the built in side tables? Those might be perfect for holding blankets, diapers, wipes, etc. I'm sure you'll hit the design out of the park, whatever you do. 😊

Hi MaCenna! Since your bedroom is downstairs and the nursery upstairs you should be looking for a bassinet to keep in your bedroom for the first few months (especially if you’re nursing) to have the baby nearby.

IDEA 💡: love the cupboard style but what if you installed the cupboards around the window ( where the desk/ vanity is currently). Then you could perhaps fit one more cupboard? And desk can stay there under the window? Will give the room maybe more moveable space. Hard to tell

Once you take the cabinets out, would the bed fit in the nook? Maybe that would give you more room for the crib and floor space for the baby to crawl and play once that's needed. ❤

As someone that worked in the baby dept of a department store, I will say that the convertible cribs that grow with the baby are awesome! So crib to toddler bed to full size bed!
It’s so smart taking out those cabinets. That’ll be a beautiful spot for the crib. And leave that bed in the nursery means that one of you can sleep there if baby is having a hard time or if you decide to take shifts during the newborn phase. I wish we had space for a bed in our nursery. It would have come in handy so many times.
I'm dying to have you try to rewire the marble lamp. I think the glow from it would be so beautiful and unique!

My grandparents have a coffee grinder that looks like that and they put peppercorns in it and use it as a pepper grinder and it honestly is perfect!

You can remove all the cabinets and built one long one with 2/3 levels which can double a changing station. You'll have control over the type of storage and depth.

Use space saver bags for the pillows. With the vacuum you shrink them down and hide under a bed. I use these for my seasonal pillows.

You should get some motion sensor lights for inside the cabinet. We put one in our hall closet and it works great, especially when our power goes out. we just leave the door open and the light comes on every time we walk by

I kept 8 down inserts, 4 20"×20", 4 16"×16" for my pillows and donated the rest, and stored my covers in ziplock 12"×12" baggies.. it enables me to have a lot more variations without the problem of storing unused ones ..

I went with pillow covers and it’s been perfect! I bought best quality pillow inserts and sold or donated all my decorative pillows.

Hey MaCenna, it seems like the cabinets in the (soon to be) nursery space would be perfect for a baby's room. The shorter window cabinet could work as a changing table space and the center cabinets could holds lots of the bulky baby items, like diapers, toys and clothes. Are you sure you wanna remove those cabinets???

My thoughts, exactly! Most baby stuff requires drawer or shelf space for best storage and those are perfection! Such nice quality. And when the baby gets bigger, it will be perfect for toys and games and books as well as clothes - all the way through the teen years! If it were my house and I was having a baby, I'd be fighting to keep those! When my daughter was young, I actually drew up plans to build something very similar for her room, but we moved. (Hubby got a new job in another city)

Idea for the pillow inserts- you could store them in a vacuum bag - that will save you space and you could have only the pillow cases stored / organized outside ☺️

For all of us infertile women…I see you. This is a hard season for us. MaCenna has been our safe place, away from baby talk and obsession, and now her happy news is a constant reminder of our loss. It’s a hard space to be in- happy for someone else but brokenhearted for ourselves. I will continue to enjoy our wonderful MaCenna but I will forever miss the before baby version. I just wanted whoever might be feeling lonely to know that there are other MaCenna fans out here feeling all the complicated feelings you’re feeling. ✨

Have you thought of keeping the armoire for the babies belongings. It's seems like the perfect size for tiny clothes and things. At least till he/she gets a little older and needs more space just a thought.

Have you considered building out your living shelves for additional storage and may be able to put toys downstairs for playing, books, pillows and throws, accessories, etc

The bedroom downstairs give it to Romeo as his office. Built the Ikea unite you intent to return there where your new dresser stands. Or built it on the right side of the bed in the guest bed room, get rid of the wardrobe n put your bed between the two windows (if it fits I hope so).
Take the guest room as yours n the office the nursery.
It gonna be tough to move a lot after delivery so stick in a single floor easier for you the baby n everything ❤

I’ve been thinking the exact same thing. Makes more sense to have the bedrooms upstairs and the office/Romeo’s room downstairs. But then again, I’ve always favored presentation over practicality. MaCenna, can’t wait to see what works for you. You’ll knock it out of the park either way.❤❤❤

What is it anyways with not beeing as close to your newborn as possible? 😢 Is it expected to sleep in a seperate room all alone? (This sounds both sad an unpractical.) I hear this a lot from American channels but could never imagine doing that (apart from short naps during the day). Especially, not even beeing on the same level...
You mentioned storage problem on pillows. I noticed most of my pillows were same size, so I saved my favorite insert and then took the covers off the others for storing; then donated the inserts. I have started trying to just buy covers only for updating. I wished I could find a better selection besides Etsy and Hobby Lobby.
The marble lamp might be nice for a night light for the babies room.

Ritual were my favorite prenatal when I was pregnant. One thing to not be surprised by if you end up in a similar situation. Their Iron level is a little less then the recommended amount for pregnancy, so my iron was on the lower side of normal. My OB had me take an additional iron supplement every other day just to be safe.

You made me smile when you said about not being able to do anything because of the rain - if you lived in the UK you would never get anything done 😅. I live in the North of England and it has been raining and blowing a gale on and off for three weeks now!
You could turn your pillows into pillow covers since you know how to sew. Take the seam off one end and add a zipper or button closers.

Love your channel! You’re gonna need all the storage for your little one. From experience your things and their things mixing will make your mind go bonkers when looking for something. I’d suggest having your own storage away from them. Congrats on a baby!

That marble lamp would be cool in Romeo's finished office if you style the office like that store you showed us once.
I wonder if that marble lamp could make a nice uplight downstairs? Maybe under a large plant, so you could get the soft glow from the interior of the piece, but also get interesting shadow textures on the ceiling or walls. I'm big on different levels of lighting in a home: general, task, and accent ~
Re wire the light, and make it a baby room light . The glow will be beautiful.
