LoL at raising to 15 in a 1/3 game and expecting some folds. I opened UTG this weekend for 15 in a 1/3 game and got called by 6 players. 😂

Yeah this is my typical 1/3 game. Open to either $15 or $20 and get 5-6 callers
The funny thing is when you’re the big blind, everyone limps in, you make it 30 and everyone folds despite the $60 in the middle.
I opened QQ at a 1/3 for 30 got 7 callers I didn’t think it was to good for me but I ended up stacking 2 guys one was on a pure bluff with ace high the other had JJ and got sticky. Highest card on the table was k on the turn which is where the one guy decided to bluff but I didn’t believe him. Pot ended up around 1400. Fun hand.
yeah, those raises only apply to online really. In person 1/2 and 1/3 games play like 2/5 online
Nice to see Ivey and Gus and other more or less celebs, get out and do these meetups. It does a lot for the fun of poker I think.👍💥
I will say that is one thing about Poker I have always liked; the best players are almost always the most magnanimous and friendly folks. Not to say there isn't ... obvious stand outs that aren't.. but I can say that I've never approached any of them and they be stupidly offensive.

I would say for very good poker players, they don't need to be scummy because they are just good.

I firmly believe that Brad and Andrew are a material part of how poker is part of the culture by the way they vlog about it and how they connect with people. I was there for this one, I saw myself in the background a couple times. I got to play with Ivey and Andrew, I didn’t get to play Brad but I did get to hangout and talk with him for a little bit afterward. It was my first MUG and so happy I flew out to Vegas to make it happen. I highly recommend YOU make it happen if you get the chance! It was very very much worth it.
At the time, that Gus Hansen book was extremely helpful. It was almost like a vlog before they existed. His explanations of why he did what he did and what his options were was eye opening back then.
Reading that book as a youngster taught me a hell of alot going forward

Tourneys are tough. I play only 2 a year or so. I’d like to play in a bit higher stakes to shrink the field down. I played a wsop in Sacramento last week. Took 50th out of 1656. I definitely missed a bet a couple times and should’ve played/raised a few more pots late. I said to myself I went card dead, but I think I still have to get better late in tournaments when blinds get bigger. Love your channel btw.

I also read Gus's book when I was starting out and found it really helpful. It wasn't enough to make me a winning player on its own at the time, but it's definitely good reading.

I'm on a fixed income due to disability, so as a Vegas local, I'm always looking for low stakes meet-ups, tourneys, etc... Was in town for the PAC12 championship football game with my dad. Went to the wynn an hour early for this event and all the tables were full and list was already projected out until the afternoon. Wish they had more tables running that were sitting empty outside the poker room. Catch you next time. Cheers.
Sorry to hear about that. We did the best we could by starting it on a Tuesday morning, not typical busy time for poker players, but several hundred people showed up early. Hopefully next year we'll do it in a larger space.
