Nothing will ever take the place of sitting in my black bean bag chair with my headphones on listening to a vinyl album while reading the album sleeve and going over the cover artwork with a fine tooth comb. I’m 60 years old and I still love my music loud..lol
Very surprised that you avoided the elephant in the room comparison with the Eversolo. Looking at most of the comments here, I'm not alone in that thought.
I have difficulties to follow you. Maybe one year ago you had the Dave, the Weiss, the Nagra……recently you have bought a high end discontinued integrated from Aavik. But now it’s the very entry level Bluesound? And even that, your last review on the Eversolo was saying how better it was vs the Bluesound. Until the X. Each new product you review is better vs the last one. Are you advertising? You are paid by all the brands for which you make a wonderful review?
Curious to know how it compares to the Eversolo DMP-A6. I just received an Eversolo Master Edition to replace a Bluesound Node 2i, but still have to hook it up.
How does it compare to the Eversolo that you have been using? I was just about to pull the trigger on the eversolo streamer dac. Now I’m confused on which to get.
Man, they’ve come a long way from vinyl albums. I used to keep mine so clean I even wiped them down after each play with a very lightly oiled cotton cloth with wd40 sounds weird but i did it for years and it worked beautifully.
Nice review, I purchased one about 3 months ago and was planning to downsize and use the preamp out on the X to feed signals to my Emotiva 300x2 power amplifier. Well! that didn't go as planned. at max my X volume weather in fixed or not mode i could only get max 76dB and my power amplifier was even hitting 2/3 of it's output. So i had to buy another Preamp (Parasound) to get above the 76dB.
I was just reading this morning how the auralic is far superior so i don't think that all people would truly be satisfied with this , matter of time before trying to upgrade😅 Even the Eversolo...and i don't want to think about Musk every time i see my X device either. Hope you'll get a pair of Tannoy loudspeakers, thanks for everything.
The eversolo has pair of ESS 9038Q2M chips and the Node X has the ESS 9028Q2M, however you stat that the Node X has a better DAC? Please elaborate. Many Thanks!
I think we should read between the lines. It doesn't sound like real praise or recommendation. It's like you were asked to write a reference letter for whom you don't think he's an excellent person.
High, I bought the Node X and when I use the external DAC from my Rega Elicit MK5 it causes cracks - very loud ones - dealer says this is due to changing sample rates
I agree. The goal should be achieving the experience that can connect you to the music and not the equipment. The ultimate satisfaction always comes from the emotional connection to the music and the musicians. I can listen to my systems all day (I wish!) because I'm so connected to the music that I often lose track of time!
This is one of those products that really bugs the guys with really expensive dacs, the sound quality gets you very close to these, at 1/5 the price. Don’t let the price fool you, this is one of those products, like the KEF LS-50, that punches WAY above its weight. Can you do better? Yes, but only if you have $5-10K to spend on a dac.
Hi All For a guy with a 3 grand integrated amp is moving up to Bluesound Node X a sensible move? Will the amp be able to 'process' the sonic improvements that it provides over the regular Node?
I have a Node 2 and 2i. The 2i is connected to a Chord Qtest. I prefer the sound of the Qtest than stock DAC. That said, I still like my 2, using a CAL CL-15 CD player's DAC more.
Just got my blue node x….do you think it’s better to stream via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?….for some reason I’m having a tough time getting connected via Wi-Fi, I connected Bluetooth no issues, it’s replacing my audio engine B-Fi streamer , which I also had a challenge connecting to via Wi-Fi but eventually got it working.
I can't say that I am impressed by the Bluesound Node X bought it to use with my Shure SRH1840. Unfortunately, after listening for a short time, I had to stop, the sound is very analytical and not a lot of fun. I actually paired the Node X with my old Beyerdynamic COPs, which are not that detailed and have more bass than the Shure 1840 and that did sound better. But and this is a big but. I compared the Bluesound Node X to my Phone connected to the Topping DX3 Pro and the Topping/phone combination won hands down. I am still wondering why Bluesound couldn't have put in a better dac. The Topping DX3 Pro has the ES9038Q2M, which is slightly better than the ES9028Q2M in the Bluesound, and the Bluesound is 3 times the price. I really wouldn't recommend the Bluesound. Currently it is connected to my Rokson K3 amp but I hardly ever use it. The only positive I will say is the remote is very nicely made.
I find the Bluesound app exp to be woefully lacking, it doesn’t even offer unified search! Moreover, at least on my iPad the interface is awful. I mean three home buttons on one screen? What’s that all about?
Don't you find it annoying that, every time you tray and listen to music the Bluesound wants to install an update? On two occasions the update did not complete on my Bluesounds and I had to perform a factory reset before I was able to try again. I have never had this problem with my CD player. It has never wanted to install an update. I just pop a CD into the tray, press play and it works first time.
@@baronvonaux8294 do you mean it has never tried to install an update or you have never had the dreaded red light when the upgrade is attempted? Mine wants to install an update almost every time I use it and I have had the red light twice. The only way I have found to recover is by performing a factory reset and I am not the only one. if you search for red light on the Bluesound Community you will find several other people who have experienced the same problem.

Agree, I am curious in the comparison too. Based on the review I have changed from Node 2i to Eversolo.
I am going to join the fray and ask for your thoughts about the new NODE X vs the Eversolo. You seemed so pleased with the Eversolo.

This or the eversolo dmp-a6? (sound quality alone)

Eager to hear your results👍🔊
Ok sooooo, Eversolo.....I think i speak for a lot of us with this question....how does this compare??
I'm sure it'll fit in until the next one
Alan Parsons Quotes. Audiophiles don't use their equipment to listen to your music. Audiophiles use your music to listen to their equipment.

Eversolo's yesterday's news. Now it's the newest Bluesound. Better hurry, next week even the Bluesound will be demoted.
Get the Wiim and spend the difference on a few nights out with your loved ones.
No comparizon to the Eversolo which was favored a few months ago ?
I miss that bluesound supports dsd playback, I think a hi-end dac must be able to play dsd files.😢

I'd buy it just for the X.
The eversolo has pair of ESS 9038Q2M chips and the Node X has the ESS 9028Q2M, however you stat that the Node X has a better DAC? Please elaborate. Many Thanks!
That's what I was thinking and the Eversolo has 2 9038s.
Just saw your review on the Eversolo. So which one is your fav?
I bought one and I am very happy with it.
Yea. How does this compare to the Node X in terms of SQ? I belive the Eversolo has the same ESS chip as the Topping D90 DAC.
do you use/recommend coax or optical cables?

Tenth anniversary. X is Roman numeral for ten get it?

Turn off the clock feature in the node

Denafrips Arce streamer was just released, it is overengineered for the price and likely to be a tough competitor...
Unfortunately, no wireless connection with the ARCE or I would purchase.
Nice piece of jazz music at the end of your review. What piece is it? Thanks.
Why not just buying a PowerNode? It is slightly more expensive but seemingly more capable, at least on paper.
If I plan to use an external dac (Chord), do I need the X 10th Anniversary edition?
I have a Node 2 and 2i. The 2i is connected to a Chord Qtest. I prefer the sound of the Qtest than stock DAC. That said, I still like my 2, using a CAL CL-15 CD player's DAC more.

Ethernet cable if possible.

Yep, the app is horrible. I've been waiting for the BlueOS 4.0 summer release, but it was pushed to October.
Without comparison of the sound quality with other gear around the same price, a review is of ZERO value.

Not buying a streamer that will not play wirelessly to my KEF LS50ii. Bluesound Systems do not work.
Cool story bro
"Analytical." Please explain.
Really 😳

I don’t think you are listening to and enjoying music. You are listening to and enjoying hifi gear…
Over $700 for a piece of plastic gear? No thanks
The best streamer of all?! Simple: NO streamer at all and no network stuff involved.
You are missing out on so, so much musical enjoyment and discovery.
🎯👏👍🙏❤️
Anyone who has a listening space like that knows nothing about hifi.
jealous much
