See, that's what I'm saying. With the instability in something like this, if you're laid off (which, for all intents and purposes, you *were* laid off through no fault of your own,) you can't even put that on an application. People that stream their games (the ones with enough Prestige, or just those who're REALLY fockin' good at it,) can, to some extent, expand on that and actually have a bit of stability. The only downside is, when it comes to that point, you're no longer solely playing for fun.
It sure was not fair the way things were done, but I did hear that the lady was in a bad car accident and not expected to live.. I overheard it on one of the sims I was visiting.. so sorry to hear about your losses and theirs also
I came across this because I was wondering, what SL like now🤔❓ I joined in 2007. Was obsessed. Bought land. Then RL got in the way. Wanted to see if I could log into my account via my iPad and visit my old haunts - clubs. See if my “home” was still standing 😂 The comments below are interesting. I saw one saying that this woman was in a fatal car accident. The SL housing bubble burst. Which is true. I bought land for a pretty penny and would rent out property. Then the Linden’s started creating lots of amazing sims which were much cheaper to purchase, so the retail and land purchasing bubble burst. It’s 2023 and I can see that the skins are now amazing. I’d like to hop back in. My account is frozen 🥶
Linden auctions and linden mainland is cheaper. Private sims need to be included to mainland. This helps with people not be spread out where they cant find friends. All lines need to be part of the same server line. This helps maintain both the economic and functional part of the game. I am luminye Onizuka and I been part of SL since 2004.
The Chungs now hold the best land, if you're just looking at prims allowed and price. They offer the most prims for the cheapest, with the best support, I have found. They (the Chungs) are not all nice, but most of them are. Heidi is the sweetest, and I have lived on Victoria Chung's properties and was "griefed" by neighbors and not responded to or helped in the end. So, of course I went to a different member of the family. There are some Beautiful rental properties that are not owned by the Chungs, of course, as they don't hold a monopoly. But IMHO, if you're getting back into it/are a beginner in renting land, and don't want to commit to LL's per month Premium membership yet, search Chung properties (just to compare and find what you want). I pay about 1,700 linden per week for over 3000prims. That's great! The 24 hour support this couple in the video talk about, that's how it still is with most successful sim owners. IDK what happened to this couple in their SL business venture, but yes, the real estate bubble burst in SL a while ago.
i know girls that make 12000L a day.. 40k in a week. they work, are on disability, and make money on this. you can. I also rent from a large real estate woman in SL too.

I haven't played SL before, however based on all the videos out there and what people say, it seems like you need to invest a lot of money before you can even dream of making any profits. It also depends on what you want to do, if you want to make virtual items & clothes I'd assume that would be a lot easier to do, with less risks involved, but you'd also earn less money. Real estate sounds like it's where the big bucks are, but it's a huge gamble. You're probably better off finding a RL job unless you have a lot of money to begin with ... or don't intend on investing any real money at all and slowly saving up Linden over time (probably gonna take you a while lol) As someone who works from home as a digital artist, it took me ~1.5 years to finally get a big fanbase, and I imagine it's going to take me a while more before I get enough people interested in buying my artwork so I can live off of it comfortably.. I'd imagine that's how long it would take you as a content creator on SL as well, since it's a very similar branch. You need to be active as hell, post constantly and advertise yourself, and it still takes a lot of time. So if that's not something you're interested in doing in the long run, I wouldn't recommend wasting your time and money.
This goes to show people that Second Life is a MMO, NOT A JOB OPPORTUNITY! The worst mistake Linden Labs did was allow L$ to be exchanged for real money.
I kind of disagree there, I mean think of all the stuff you can sell and make RL money and now the mesh stuff came out think of the time and effort people invest on it. I think if your talented why waste it if you can make some cash.
@ chaeferl That's called Graphic Design and that's not teh same as doing stuff in SL. I can't go into a big business and say "yes, I have 4 years of management experience" and then say that experience comes from being the leader of my Guild in WoW for 4 years. Doesn't work that way, bud.
1.) I'm not a bud ;) Just saying! 2.) No it doesn't work that way! Your right!!!! Buuuuuut listen! I am a trained medical assistant who has been trying to get back to her job for years!!!! Since I had kids I couldn't get back to my job! I have been working with graphic designs for over 3 years now and have quite a talent for it! And yes it does make RL money!!!!! Better making use of the talent than wasting it! Got nothing to lose! God bless!
TheAsylumchild Yes doesn`t work that way YET ! :) You forgot to say doesn`t work like that YET. Second Life is just in the pioneering days this virtual platform will evolve or another platform more evolved will come out. If you Second life business experience is not taken seriously now doesn`t mean has to be the same in the future. Remember at some point in history people belived the Earth is flat? Well we know isn`t flat today...same thing can happened about virtual world platforms. People from my generation (I`m 43) are not open too much to this stuff yet but watching the new generation in subway trains testing or playing games on their smartphones I think they will find a better use for this virtual worlds platforms ! Why take a plane to fly at Tokyo for a business meeting when you can have one in a virtual platform? That will reduce some costs for real life companies with transport and accommodation isn`t it? So why not start using that?!? Is simply because my generation is too narrow minded...they are used to do things in old fashion way....
Bit second life is not just for playing and having fun purposes many company in the u.s. use second life to make money as well if they need building ideas they can build realistic furniture in SL and have the furniture turn out the way they want it in real life...
I did a quick search for Beach Front Realty, Inc. and did not seem to find evidence that they were still in business, not that I searched very well. It would be interesting to know what they are doing now, in the real world that is.
Perry McCluskey They shut the business down a while ago from what I've read, and transferred it over to somebody else under a new name if I understand correctly. Turns out they also screwed some people over for profit before closing.
RockySandman thanks for the historical background. Sad if people got ripped off in the end. Been there myself. Was renting a nice store space in an active sim when apparently the person running the sim got ban for selling stuff that wasn’t theirs to sell. One day the place vanished and I was out a few weeks of pre-paid rent. Apparently that is the risk. Anyway, thanks again for the information.
Jobs and making real money in SL are real even though people claim that virtual world equals no world realism. This is so false! If u were to go with that line of thinking then all of the apps and "virtual" games would make no money..... Let me put it like this.... People spend REAL money in games like bejeweled (and thousands of others). No, you are not realistically moving jewels but it is an experience and people DO pay for it. Second life and other games are the perfect place to make money if you are a developer, investor or entreprenuer

Spent like 10 minutes doing digging, to find out if I only had scrolled down...someone posted a comment about 3 years ago. The company went bust in 2013, gave short notice, and people who paid their rent in advance lost money--most people couldn't access the land they had rented. It's understandable that it pissed a lot of people off. Who knows what they are doing now. As a couple, can't find that out. But I searched for Ariel's SL avatar, and he's no longer "married" in Second Life. Elaine's (Kandee Herrey) simply shows as "not found", and her LinkedIn hasn't seen activity or updates in a long time. Makes you wonder if all if put strain on the real life relationship as well. Which even though I have absolutely no connection to them, would be a sad thought.
Funny you say that because in the interview he said he was making $72,000 a year at the bank dosnt sound like much of a loser to me.. and he is living comfortably selling land on SL... sounds smart to me.
He quit his IT job for Second Life?
I wonder if they are still doing this for a living?
If they re smart, they went in decentraland or doing cryptos now ^^
Probably. Mainland is so expensive I came across one that cost 500 usd
@@nidhogg6344 crypto is dead lol
It sure was not fair the way things were done, but I did hear that the lady was in a bad car accident and not expected to live.. I overheard it on one of the sims I was visiting.. so sorry to hear about your losses and theirs also
I have second life and even I think this is sad.
I wonder if they've had to go back to work now that its 2021, and SL isn't as big a deal as it was back then......
Here in 2023 searching up beach front real estate in SL and coming up with nothing, guess they shut it down or rebranded
Imagine if this was the way to increase number of jobs in the US. Making virtual jobs in virtual worlds.
This is absolutely bizzare but good for them I'm happy for them
I came across this because I was wondering, what SL like now🤔❓
I joined in 2007. Was obsessed. Bought land. Then RL got in the way.
Wanted to see if I could log into my account via my iPad and visit my old haunts - clubs. See if my “home” was still standing 😂
The comments below are interesting.
Open a ticket with support, you should be able to get it unfrozen like I did.
@@willow.bell.illustration how did you find SL when you went back in?
@@CarolCreates SO confusing! I started a week ago, but it's already making sense again. Just, so much has changed!
@@willow.bell.illustration I thought so 😊
@@CarolCreates You should come back the game has improved a fuckton.
Truth Anshe took over.
i know girls that make 12000L a day.. 40k in a week. they work, are on disability, and make money on this. you can. I also rent from a large real estate woman in SL too.
how?
40k a week is nothing. im a SL merchant and i make that per day
Nikki Gloom how????
@@viivcreations9161 not in real estate in voice fucking or cam. girls make their rent money. they could give a fuck about creating, they do findom, cam sex, cam shows for men in SL. Some girls make a lot more than that. and they use Findom financials and cashapp. my bff has food, nails, car insurance, and half her rent paid off SL
I can't believe they did this after so many years of having sims, and to just leave without telling anyone thanks god linden lab helped me in getting my stuff that was on land.. Okay also keep my month of $90.00 for a month in dec I have everything to get this money back.. okay I am guessing they must needed more than me but remember karma does come back and bite you on ass... I just can't believe you did that.. but your day is coming and good luck
Sometimes you wonder how these people are doing today
The overall production quality in this 2010 video reminds me of something I would have filmed in TV production in highschool during that same year lol
Yet you are not in tv production nor will you ever be.

this is what im trying right now. im making stuff to put in your house like art furniture. so far in the last 2 days ive had it i have made a chair bench and now a piece of art.
14 years later and everything still looks fake and stupid. I'll check back again in 2037.
I always wondered who the real people are behind some of the different land rentals in SL. What a neat job!
Couldn't he done both jobs? I don't know much about second life but is it literally like a regular job.
"No" - DanielFromSL
That unavoidable ... midlife emotional recession hit HARD I bet
Cryptoland = Second Life 2.0?
History repeats itself
So how can you make money on Second Life in 2018
her profile still exists but all the landmarks are dead, looks like they abandoned sl real estate
You're probably better off finding a RL job unless you have a lot of money to begin with ... or don't intend on investing any real money at all and slowly saving up Linden over time (probably gonna take you a while lol)
As someone who works from home as a digital artist, it took me ~1.5 years to finally get a big fanbase, and I imagine it's going to take me a while more before I get enough people interested in buying my artwork so I can live off of it comfortably..
The second life land game was insane. Sure miss it.
Why the fuck would he quit his job... he can do this shit when he gets home.
That looks like a sad life.
this is closed now I checked !! ;/
samantha buckley what's closed?
no it's not it's been going for over 10 years and i still play it i joined a few months ago
katherine Aubrey He means their company not Second Life.
It's good to see SL real life estates selling SL properties for real money - very interesting.
Thanks for the video! Wishing you continued success! Yup I am a resident too.
This video is over 8 years old, they probably quit this game long ago.
Wonder how there doing now? In 2020
Jobs and making real money in SL are real even though people claim that virtual world equals no world realism.
I make a fair amount of money off of second life still. it's nice to have an extra $50 a week.
Lem Aiko How do you do it?
ok, a: this really isnt true anymore. yu can maybe guy a weeks worth of groceries. thats it.
b: Ariel is a girls name.
Do you want grass or sand?
They quit job for Second Life is insane! I wonder how they survive, and how is their life now? Second Life can't even make a real money but in-game money.
Not true second life has lindens which convert to real life money. It's a currency. Do your research.
@@avrilcode9945 I remember someone has told me about this, and I didn't believe it because I thought it was fake. I didn't know that we can convert lindens to real life money.
Where are they now ?
Since the SL Real Estate market (can’t believe that.. was actually a thing) crashed a few years after the video was made im positive they ran headfirst into the job force or attempted to crawl back into their old jobs

Unfortunately the real estate bubble in SecondLife is bursting, everyone is slashing their prices to sell their land and residential sims are usually 50% empty.
The dream is over :(
It's less of a "real estate bubble" and more of a staturated market.

WERE ARE THEY NOW
Spent like 10 minutes doing digging, to find out if I only had scrolled down...someone posted a comment about 3 years ago.
Imagine paying bills in a video game, wtf is that? Let's simulate one of the most fun aspects about life huh...tf.
Funny you say that because in the interview he said he was making $72,000 a year at the bank dosnt sound like much of a loser to me.. and he is living comfortably selling land on SL... sounds smart to me. Plus the guys is most likely making more money then you and he gets to do in the comfort of his own home..
Michael MacDonald nah they went out of business and lost everything lol
my SL mom sells land but hes still up and running also she makes clothes too and i breed Meeroos i love SL
this is interview is like 9 years old, how are they doingnow
