I have a cardboard only bin too! I call it my "by the book" bin and started it with 125 worms. I compared worms raised in cardboard to worms raised on leaves. The colour difference was amazing. Same for the castings.

Yes!! I've heard that the Castings from leaves are darker and richer which is why I add to my bins but I haven't seen the difference for myself yet. I picked up the shredder this morning and and already have like 15 gallons of shred ready to go. So excited. I'll probably start the bins next weekend when I have time asni need to put up some more shelves for the bins.

I feel your pain, every time I say "that'll be ok" it isn't! Had a worm get decapitated recently, that wasn't a good day😢

It's seriously heart breaking. Never want to have that happen again.

Hi Tolga - I live in Dubai and have just gotten 2 worm bins going, including an ANC one. Thank you for all the content you put as it’s geared towards this brutal climate we inhabit. It’s also great to hear that you’re helping make vermicomposting known to schools, as you mentioned in a previous video. This region needs all the help it can in adopting strategies to drive self sufficiency, and especially more democratized solutions like vermicomposting.
I’d love to get in touch with you and have a chat - can I get your email?
    Regards
    Chiraag

I can definitely tell the difference. Escaping worms.😮

The escapees were definitely due to tub being too small. Rookie mistake by me.

You have to ask yourself. Why did the worm leave their bedding. The worm shouldn’t want to leave their perfect bedding, even if the bedding is to the top of their container.

My pound of ANC are in the mail. I am going to split them between two 5 gallon buckets and separate cocoons every 2 weeks to prevent shrinkage. Then when numbers grow a deep 3 ft tall 3 ft wide horizontal wedge of hotter manure with calcium carbonate on it will be next for them to migrate from safe bedding.. Thanks for the vid mate.

That's a decent amount of worms to start with. You'll have your wedge populated in no time. Thanks for taking the time to share your journey. Please keep me posted with how you get on.

Great looking bin. When you split them they'll explode the population. Best of luck on the new bins.
