      My experiance with cats, they multiply too fast to keep track of, we had a cat one year, at the end if the year we had 40something of them and couldnt find em places fast enough, theyd have 3 litters going at a time. Took about 2 years to give away enough of em to stem the cat production enough to handle. So if we take bets on cat quantity this week we could be a dozen short by next week lol

      Sad part? every cat we've had has been fixed, never have had kittens. But i guess the word is out our place is cat friendly, as they show up on our porch looking cold & hungry. Then, what can you do? The black one in this video? Her mother brought her and her sister to us, hung around a couple days to make sure we were feeding them, and then srammed off. We found a home for the sister but before I could get this one a home, my wife had already gotten attached.

    Mishaco, I got some of the 5.45 ammo from Hornady (steel cased because that was all I could find). Barnaul still provided better groups with both weights that I had on my VEPR-5.45. I hope people don't bank on Hornady making some amazing ammo for 5.45. If anyone ever comes out with brass ammo for reasonably cheap, I'd be all over that. Still, it's a very enjoyable cartridge that goes the distance even with steel ammo. Beautiful RPKs btw.

    To me, Riley and PSA are in the same boat as Century. They have quite a troubled history making AKs, cutting corners, using customers as beta testers, etc. I personally am skeptical about their AK74s. I guess that's easy for me to say since I've had an SGL31 since they came out in 5.45's early-ish heyday and and SLR104 since 2013, but I really fear that people's standards are lowering when it comes to AK quality. Even the new PSA's seem to be having issues but they just get waved off.

    • @echodelta2172
      @echodelta2172 4 года назад

      PSA's issues tend to get waved off for numerous reasons:
      1. They're using consumer feedback to visibly improve their product
      2. The volume they put out is so vast that everyone just assumes they'll have some lemons
      3. Nobody else is actually trying as hard as PSA to bring new products to market
      4. They warranty their products
      Should PSA be using their customers to beta-test their new products? Probably not, but to the millions of gunowners who didn't have a chance to get in on the days of $300 WASRs and $400 Saigas, PSA is as close as many of us are gonna get. Like you said, you already own two top-shelf import AK-74s that are no longer on the market (unless you wanna spend north of $1500) so you won't be able to understand that perspective. As for myself, I came of age just as the last good imports were finally drying up and barely managed to snag myself a $600 WASR10. If PSA releases a clean AK74 that I can throw some nice furniture on and take to the range for $700, I'll buy it all day, whether or not the barrel is chrome-lined.

    • @cajuncatfish5417
      @cajuncatfish5417 4 года назад

      @@echodelta2172 So people should buy PSA's because there's no other option even when they're doing unethical things like using customers as beta testers and cutting corners on QC? Not to mention being caught red handed lying about the "tuned" pistons thing. If we're ever going to get a good American AK, it won't happen by supporting companies that do what PSA does. They see how many corners they can cut before people start pushing back and then they scale it back just enough so it's not a complete outrage. Don't settle for an inferior product.

    If 5.45 was going to be successful it would have happened by now. I really wish it was bigger because I love it! But I’m not investing in another one.

      I saw it slowly but surely rise from the beginning of the 21st century til it hit a highwater mark around 2009-2010. Then it dipped a bit, but picked up in 2013-2015 with the Sandyhook thing, and good new rifles like the SGL31 and VEPRs chambered for it. But then the ban on 7n6 + the sanctions on Izhmash and Molot? And also Century deciding to discontinue the WASR-2. However, all that said, doesn't mean there still aren't thousands upon thousands of 5.45 rifles out there and thus shooters. Its a small market and one someone will try and tap sooner or later. I shoot my guns; not worried about new ammo, mags, or spare parts. These things are met to be shot and enjoyed.

    Cute pudgy black kitty spotted at 13:02, anyway yes we like the AK videos. I will admit, that the timing was amusing but your point on vaporware is painfully true.I want to be nice, but Century is as useful as a teats on a bull that decided to lay in the freeway. They have near Exclusivity with RomArms and Sadu, but do we see much of anything other than WASRs and a few PSL& AES10B? Not really. RIght now I have to wonder what Sadu is doing, but thats another issue. They are, realistically, the largest 5.45 manufacturer outside of Russia right now and yet no ammo, no large quantities of mags and or kit & parts (other than the small flurry at Arms of America, and I suspect they are running low) to speak of. Granted. they may not be able to do much right now, but the legendary lack of communication with Rom arms is no help either.

    Even though Europe is in a different situation, since we still get milsurp rifles and ammo in 5.45 (the rifles are built from milsurp parts on new semi auto receivers), 5.45 is still not popular at all. I guess outside of Russia and associates, it will always be a nice niche cartridge. That is not in any way bad and I love my Bulgarian 5.45, it just will never be a main stream rifle and it also doesn't need to be!

      Yes actually, they do exist. One of the very first guns to come into the USA for 5.45x39 was a bolt action used by the East German boarder guards. Check it out, pretty dang cool.

    I almost feel “bad” about being an AK guy but not really being into 5.45, even back when SLR 104s we’re readily available. I’m very familiar with them, they just never “spoke to me” like akm, type 3 Ak47, type 56, etc. never really had anything to do with being more mainstream or available for me, just always found them cooler

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 года назад +1

      Its all good. A lot of people are like you and basically want to stick with one caliber, and that being 7.62x39 most of the time. It means your guns all share the same cartridge, same mags, much of the same gear, and many of the same spare parts. Legistically? it makes a ton of sense. In fact, that was 1 reason many nations opted not to adopt the 'new' 5.45 round, instead sticking with 7.62x39.

      @@misha5670 Also because the Soviets wanted stricter access/ownership to 5.45. They considered it high military technology only allowing their closest allies access to it under strict stipulations like no exporting it, period (because the Soviets wanted to be the only ones allowed to do so). Also they didn't want competition from places like China or East Germany.
