The only reason 5.45 is easier to get in a panic than 5.56 is because no one has 5.45 rifles. If everyone goes out and buys 5.45 rifles, than it will probably get harder to find, just like 7.62x39 and 5.56.
Mishaco, I got some of the 5.45 ammo from Hornady (steel cased because that was all I could find). Barnaul still provided better groups with both weights that I had on my VEPR-5.45. I hope people don't bank on Hornady making some amazing ammo for 5.45. If anyone ever comes out with brass ammo for reasonably cheap, I'd be all over that. Still, it's a very enjoyable cartridge that goes the distance even with steel ammo. Beautiful RPKs btw.

I saw it slowly but surely rise from the beginning of the 21st century til it hit a highwater mark around 2009-2010. Then it dipped a bit, but picked up in 2013-2015 with the Sandyhook thing, and good new rifles like the SGL31 and VEPRs chambered for it. But then the ban on 7n6 + the sanctions on Izhmash and Molot? And also Century deciding to discontinue the WASR-2. However, all that said, doesn't mean there still aren't thousands upon thousands of 5.45 rifles out there and thus shooters. Its a small market and one someone will try and tap sooner or later. I shoot my guns; not worried about new ammo, mags, or spare parts. These things are met to be shot and enjoyed.
Cute pudgy black kitty spotted at 13:02, anyway yes we like the AK videos. I will admit, that the timing was amusing but your point on vaporware is painfully true.I want to be nice, but Century is as useful as a teats on a bull that decided to lay in the freeway. They have near Exclusivity with RomArms and Sadu, but do we see much of anything other than WASRs and a few PSL& AES10B? Not really. RIght now I have to wonder what Sadu is doing, but thats another issue. They are, realistically, the largest 5.45 manufacturer outside of Russia right now and yet no ammo, no large quantities of mags and or kit & parts (other than the small flurry at Arms of America, and I suspect they are running low) to speak of. Granted. they may not be able to do much right now, but the legendary lack of communication with Rom arms is no help either.
Even though Europe is in a different situation, since we still get milsurp rifles and ammo in 5.45 (the rifles are built from milsurp parts on new semi auto receivers), 5.45 is still not popular at all. I guess outside of Russia and associates, it will always be a nice niche cartridge. That is not in any way bad and I love my Bulgarian 5.45, it just will never be a main stream rifle and it also doesn't need to be!
5.45 looks like scaled down Swedish 6.5x55.a respectable long range bullet There fore 5.45 should fly forever, therefore............ Bolt gun. ............How about 5.45 bolt guns?
Yes actually, they do exist. One of the very first guns to come into the USA for 5.45x39 was a bolt action used by the East German boarder guards. Check it out, pretty dang cool.

I almost feel “bad” about being an AK guy but not really being into 5.45, even back when SLR 104s we’re readily available. I’m very familiar with them, they just never “spoke to me” like akm, type 3 Ak47, type 56, etc. never really had anything to do with being more mainstream or available for me, just always found them cooler
Its all good. A lot of people are like you and basically want to stick with one caliber, and that being 7.62x39 most of the time. It means your guns all share the same cartridge, same mags, much of the same gear, and many of the same spare parts. Legistically? it makes a ton of sense. In fact, that was 1 reason many nations opted not to adopt the 'new' 5.45 round, instead sticking with 7.62x39.

@@misha5670 I'm not sure why they think their "Neva been done before" AK thing is the right move. If they did simple SA-M5 underfolders i'd buy. Im not buying some custom AK with a proprietary rail that has a cut off valve to turn it into a bolt action.
@@ddaverr they're really barking up the wrong tree with that DMR ak-looking thing. Nobody goes to them for that type of gun and they should know that by now...
The AK20 isn't even out yet; just a sample at shotshow. They are doing that out of desperation and using what parts they have left. They have milled UF receivers, they have barrels, so they slapped something together to claim they had something 'new' at the show. They also gave samples to the big gun channels....much like how the Atrax made the rounds and we all know how that turned out.
@@echodelta2172 Well isnt it supposedly free floated and thats what theyre basing there accuracy on ?
2023 5.45 is in high demand due to current conflict, and I have been scavenging up 5.45 from friends, and From whoever sells it. I try to buy 500 rounds a month plus few ak74 mags, I do same with my 5.56/.223 AK, same with 9mm. I bought a Riley defense ak-74 and it's not a bad rifle I think they did a better job than PSA did. I have 2,000 rounds of 5.45, I just bought a aims-74 parts kit I can't wait to build my first ak-74 import on polish stamping receiver from Childers guns, I plan to make it my shtf AK-74.
I knew what you meant, the import rifles, were and are not , at this point coming in new , thanks for clarification though, u the man Misha , im getting a 74, soon as i can! Haha and YES do the CoLab!! Be so cool!

Woot woot 👍🏼🇺🇸
The Riley Defense AK-74 Robski had choked up, obv not ready for release yet.
Hah, yeah, it is nice seeing cheap 9x18. My Makarov is happy but my Beretta is very unhappy.
Misha, haters gonna hate. No sweat off the brow. Stay doing what you do. We all have opinions, that's just what it is.
Boy when It nearly fell over did I ever jump
Its an AK (well RPK), so a little fall wouldn't even phase it. Now, if it wwere anAR? it would be in the gun hospital for weeks lol j/k
Don't sell yourself short M. The info you provide on your channel could only be replicated at a Russian Spetznaz training camp. Keep up the good work.
I don't know if you were addressing my comment or someone else. I was just telling about Riley , so if someone was looking for one they would maybe hear about it. Definitely didn't say anything about the other things you mentioned. Sorry, for the confusion. Love your channel, & just figured you'd let people know that they may have a option.
No, wasn't direct at your comment or anyone else's specifically. General statement as it came up multiple times, multiple places.
What is Gus's favorite cat food and how much does he eat each day?
All of them eat Imes.
If 5.45 was going to be successful it would have happened by now. I really wish it was bigger because I love it! But I’m not investing in another one.
I call that cat "Hambone"
@@misha5670 Awww! Love the content AND the cats. Sorry for the rant..
I believe that Americans want a completely new type of rifle like a bullpup in 6.8 not the same old ak’s or ar’s .
Jack low lol
Gotta love the 6 point crowd.
was this satire?
where can i find 9mm largo?

We have bolt guns in 223 so that's a decent question
Yes actually, they do exist. One of the very first guns to come into the USA for 5.45x39 was a bolt action used by the East German boarder guards. Check it out, pretty dang cool.
Neutral opinion Misha? Really? It's the Internet where everyone must react with over blown self importance. I hope for the AK 74 success because I want one but we'll see what happens.
I was here and around when the internet was a 2 year old. I don't have a problem giving it a spanking when it starts to act out of line. lol
Any ammo is hard to get in my neighborhood 🤪😭 people are buying ammo for guns they don't even own errrrg
W E W A N T M O R E 5 . 4 5 ! ! ! ! !
Love my reiley defense ak47
ruger needs to build a ak and call it the buran.
You make great content but your rambling is sub-par. If you really want to learn to ramble study lindybeige. I've heard that he walked out of prison after being caught behind enemy lines because all his interrogators died of old age before he got to answering the point of any of their questions.
but I should have added they died happy because, to a man, they found his explanations entertaining
Man, I don't see how you get any rest with all that pu $$y laying around. 😂😂 When I bought my Vepr545 FM I was fully under the impression that ammo was subject to go away and was a niche caliber. I still love the cartridge though. Great video as always Misha!
So you just said you support Biden in this video?
Damn, did i record another video drunk off my ass and say that in it? lol
@@misha5670 Also because the Soviets wanted stricter access/ownership to 5.45. They considered it high military technology only allowing their closest allies access to it under strict stipulations like no exporting it, period (because the Soviets wanted to be the only ones allowed to do so). Also they didn't want competition from places like China or East Germany.
Misha yeah, the 7.62 mag collection that I lost in a boating accident was another big reason I had all 7.62x39 AKs before the boating accident
Hey Misha it would be great to have your friendship. I'd even repress my jealousy of your guns which are way better and your brain which is waaay better than mine!!!!!
Damn trolls!!!
Oh god more IO news, can't wait
